Very good food and unforgettable flavors. This restaurant is definitely on our list.

Disappointing! From the very beginning, the service and communication were very unfriendly. When we ordered, the waiter seemed annoyed and barely understood us. Special requests or small changes to the dish were immediately rejected or only offered for a hefty surcharge – no flexibility at all! We also had to wait a very long time for our food, even though the restaurant wasn't full. When we asked how long it would take, the only response we received was, "You had an appetizer." Not even the children got their food with the appetizer. Overall, unfortunately, it wasn't a pleasant experience.

Nice ambiance, nothing more! Service was absolutely terrible. When I asked if they had squid, the answer was "I don't have any." No thanks, no please. Since I didn't tip due to the poor service, I received a cynical "thank you" at the end. Absolutely unacceptable! The food was also terrible! The tzatziki tasted like plain yogurt. The gyros were tough, tasteless, and wildly torn! The fries were sloppy and undercooked. All in all, really bad! Unfortunately... We were seduced by the good reviews! Definitely not going back!

Unfortunately, the grilled platter came with relatively few side dishes. The rice was quite small for two people. The meat was lightly seasoned and not grilled for too long.

May 11, 2025 What a mess... 6 PEOPLE They should be sent to the WKD/police! Half portions -> full price "everything was gone" according to the waiter, despite complaints, with such Greek arrogance that is unparalleled... For example, there was very little tzatziki on all the plates (even half portions).... The second helping (one portion) naturally came with almost 6 euros on the bill... Never been ripped off like this...! Unfortunately, everything was very abysmal...🙄 The difference from a year ago was like night and day...😱 Last year in May, everything was delicious and the service was also good.... Better not to eat anything....

I've been here since I was a child. The portions were larger and the food was worlds better. As of May 2025: I ordered number 50, scampi without a shell with oven potatoes, pita and grilled vegetables. The scampi came with head and tail... it was 1 small potato cut in half and "grilled vegetables" that I can buy in the freezer at Rewe (small peeled carrots, peas, beans and broccoli). The pita was quite good The scampi probably just came with its head on so that the portion seemed larger... Otherwise, even after ordering, you wait a long time for drinks or have to go to the waiter yourself. The quality of the food has deteriorated. The service was often not really attentive We won't come back as long as it remains so disappointing.

2 of us stopped during the lunch break on a group tour of the Via Romantica. We know Greek cuisine, so we ordered easily and were very satisfied. The environment is clean, welcoming, spacious, ethnic but sober.

We went there for dinner this evening. Unfortunately we have to say, for us, the worst Greek far and wide. More onions than gyros, this one dry and tasteless, you had to look for calamari in the plate, tzatziki like from the supermarket, rice hard and dry, portion size suitable for kindergarten children, service very unfriendly and unmotivated. The plates were immediately removed after the last bite. But high prices and no quality. Overall more than bad!!! It's a shame for the money you leave lying there.

Unfortunately, the food didn't taste good to us, from the salad to the starter to the main course. It was just bland and not well done. We were last here three years ago and remembered it well, but were unfortunately disappointed. The service was very friendly.

I've been coming to the Athena for 38 years now...it's always been great. But what is on offer here is very disappointing for me. The food was bad...the gyros definitely didn't come off the spit...meat had a strange taste...portions too small...and price too high for what you got. Complaints were ignored. We're definitely not going there anymore... something like that just doesn't work.

If you have to increase your sales so much that you reduce the portions by half, that's really sad 😡 If you complain, you'll be called stupid and they'll say that the portions have always been like that. We really enjoyed coming, but you don't have to let yourself be taken for a ride. Like many others, we won't be coming anymore

Update from March 2025 If you as a guest have the impression that you are not welcome. Was formerly the leading Greek restaurant in Nördlingen. But the current generation seems unmotivated to me. Little going on Tuesday evening. Wrong drinks delivered to the table. Very small portions... you go home hungry. To the obligatory question from the waiter if everything was OK? The size of the portions was complained about clearly but in a friendly tone...but this was only answered with a shrug of the shoulders. After that all service at our table was stopped...we were ignored to say the least. Only when we put on our jackets and clearly signaled that we were leaving here... did the waiter come to collect the money. I wouldn't have thought it possible that I would feel so compelled in my hometown. Original review from 2019...Very good Greek cuisine. Be sure to reserve at peak times.

Suflaki with rice and tzatziki including a mixed salad to take away was the order. Meat was very, very dry, because the slices were very thin. The big disappointment is/was the “portion” of tzatziki!! (See photo). Damaging your reputation because of too little tzatziki, we're talking about a cent here, is disproportionate. Wake up!!

We picked up takeaway food for almost 100 euros. Although the VAT rate was only 7% instead of 19% and the price remained the same as in the restaurant, there wasn't even an offer for an Uzo while waiting. OK, then next time we'll go to the competitor.

The food was very tasty. We had a mixed meat platter, tzatziki and the vegetarian starter plate. We were in the restaurant and the atmosphere is nice. The service was also good. A nice evening.

The restaurant is worth a visit.

We've been going to this Greek restaurant for a long time. Welcomed with an Ouso, wonderful. We eat salad, olives, gyros and tzatziki and enjoy Greece. I can only recommend a visit outside or inside at any time. In terms of price, everything is within a fair range. After paying we got a farewell Ouso.

Gyros with Metaxa sauce wasn't a hit. The appetizer of pointed peppers was 👍. Service wasn't good, we had something to drink, but we didn't ask. Too bad

Rarely have I visited such a beautiful Greek restaurant in Germany. Top food, good service! I have rarely eaten such good tzatziki, even in Greece. That's how it has to be. Recommendation!!!

Das Essen war in Ordnung, der Service nicht wirklich aufmerksam. Das Ambiente und das Preis-Leistungsverhältnis ok. Leider richt man nach dem Restaurantbesuch extrem. Wohl stimmt hier etwas mit der Lüftung nicht oder es wird altes oder das falsche Öl verwendet.

The food is really, really good (we like the starters best:). The service is also great. We were usually always in the "main room" and it's great, but the last time we were in the "next building" and we thought that was nice too, but not as nice as the main building :)

We used to be regulars at this restaurant. We were even more disappointed with the new owner. On Sunday evening it says something like the kitchen closes at 9 p.m. But shortly after eight there was nothing left to eat. And it could have been conveyed more friendly.

So today we went for a family dinner, I mean the menu has become a bit smaller but that has nothing to do with the quality of the food, rather less but good and it was very good, we all had nothing to complain about, the soup was hot, the salmon was well done and the lamb was juicy and the service always had a smile left. We will definitely come back

Leider nicht mehr was es einmal war. Das Essen hat meiner Meinung nach stark an Qualität nachgelassen. Das Gyros zum Beispiel war sehr fettig und wenig geschmackvoll. Auch der Krautsalat war vom Geschmack her ziemlich neutral. Ich habe Verständnis dass wenn der Laden voll ist, die Bedienungen viel zu tun haben und nicht dauernd fragen können ob etwas fehlt. Aber wenn man über eine Stunde beim Essen sitzt und nicht einmal gefragt wird ob man noch etwas trinken möchte, bzw die leeren Teller mal abgeräumt werden, ist das schon ziemlich schwach. Leider nicht mehr so weiter zu empfehlen.

Instead of fries, we got half-cooked rice. Meat was tough and dry. Tzatziki felt like it didn't contain any garlic and the salad was boring... won't be ordering again.

It was difficult for me to write this review because I really liked this restaurant. Unfortunately, the service has deteriorated greatly since the new owners took over. You wait forever until you place your order and then it feels like you wait three times longer for it to be delivered, if at all. If you mention it to the waiter, he will be offended. The worst thing is when you pay the bill afterwards and when you check later you find that the forgotten dishes were still charged for. The dishes are set up differently; you order the same dish with the person sitting next to you, but you get different plates. I won't judge whether Greek coffee and mocha are the same, but if you get completely different drinks three months apart, it's questionable. Would I give it another chance? Rather not.

Very good quality food, pleasant restaurant

The Giros with calamari were good. But for €12.80 (lunch menu) it could have been a little more. Service friendly. I personally like the restaurant. The exterior furnishings are particularly appealing.

We always enjoyed staying at Athena. Unfortunately, today wasn't that great compared to usual. Service unfriendly, food loveless. The meat didn't have much flavor. When paying we noticed that an incorrect (more expensive) starter had been charged. A few coins were then placed on the table without apology. And there was NO ouzo this time. Otherwise we usually got 2. Hopefully things will get better again. We'll take a break first

Delicious. The prices are justified. The tomato ice cream is with vegetables, unusual but not bad. The side dishes are larger than usual in a Greek restaurant. The farmer's salad, which is available with the dish for 3 euros more, is recommended

Today we went on a bike ride with the three of us in the beautiful weather and chose the beautiful restaurant with an outdoor terrace, Athena, in Nördlingen for lunch. There was a rich menu and a daily menu. We chose gyros, tzatziki, squid with rice and there was also a salad very inexpensive. Unfortunately, we were all very disappointed compared to last year, it had always tasted so great. But today the salad was just watery and had no seasoning. The gyro meat was cut far too coarsely and hardly seasoned at all, more than tough and only lukewarm. You could hardly cut it with the cutlery. I'm very sorry that we were all totally disappointed. Unfortunately, I don't know what the reason was, maybe because we were the first guests on the outside terrace and arrived too early are. Even the drinks could be colder in summer.

Salad was not edible, the food was just acceptable, frozen vegetables were loveless. We always enjoyed being there.

Had dinner today for my birthday, the service could be better and friendlier by far. Food was so-so and not even 1 Uzo was served. Very sad that you have to save money. Absolutely not worth the money today.

Unfortunately, the men who serve there aren't exactly friendly. We were there today and asked for a vegan dish, and the guy got really grumpy. I recommend people who want to avoid animal products not to go there.

The restaurant is very clean, has a great "Greek" atmosphere and the service is top. The price-performance ratio is not entirely understandable, but the food was delicious and there was something for everyone on the menu. The quality of the food was ok, but a bit disappointing for “frozen vegetables” like salmon. The portions are a bit small for a big appetite, without a starter it wouldn't be enough.

Good and very plentiful food, service very good, staff friendly, worth it

Firstly, it’s expensive and not tasty, the food is cold. We ordered a burger, the bun was raw and very large.

Unfortunately the restaurant has declined over the years. In the past there was always a coleslaw beforehand. Unfortunately not anymore. The normal salad you get is quite tasteless. It has nothing to do with Greece either. The service was very overwhelmed. First the wrong food came, then they claimed the other one was what I ordered. It worked on the third attempt. My meal was ok, the meat wasn't particularly grilled and my companion's dish was very fatty. Gyros gratinated with fried potatoes. This came to the table separately some time ago. Now in a bowl, floating in oil/fat. The guests at another table wanted to order something else in addition to one dish. Of course at an additional cost. According to the service, this would not be possible. Another side dish wouldn't work either. Some soft music in the background would also be nice. Too bad.

More could be done with the beautiful location on the edge of the old town. Portions too small for the relatively high prices

We were disappointed, portions were small and way too expensive, the lamb and skewer meat was dry, the gyros were dry, not crispy like before.... Very expensive and nothing. Mini table right at the counter although there were many free tables outside. .. you won't see us anymore.

Am 18.1.24 mit 8 Personen zum Abendessen. Bedienung freundlich und flott, Essen kam sehr schnell, jedem hat es geschmeckt. Ich hatte Bifteki Spezial mit Feta gefüllt - hervorragend, meine Frau eine Vorspeisenplatte - auch sehr gut. Die Portionen waren absolut ausreichend. Das waren die guten Nachrichten. Die schlechten: alles ist seit dem letzten Mal (ca. Mitte Dez. 23) deutlich teurer geworden, dafür bekommt man aber auch weniger… Beilagensalat zwar gut und knackig, aber ziemlich wenig. Gerade den Krautsalat musste ich regelrecht suchen. Geschmacklich durchaus ok, aber kein Vergleich zu dem, was die früheren Inhaber abgeliefert haben. Gut, ich will nicht schon vom Salat satt werden, dafür hat das Bifteki locker gereicht. Das Brot zur Vorspeisenplatte meiner Frau war auch kein Vergleich zu früher - einfach nur trocken. Früher hat man das selbst gebacken. Fiel mir schon vor einem Monat auf, da hatte ich Knoblauchbrot, das kannte ich von früher deutlich besser. Unsere Gesellschaft bestand teils aus älteren Personen, von denen es 3 wagten, aus den „Kindergerichten“ zu bestellen, weil sie abends einfach keine großen Portionen mehr essen (können). Kommentar des Kellners, dass das eigentlich nur Kinder kriegen. Sowas haben wir noch in keinem anderen Lokal erlebt, und wir treffen uns jede Woche. Vielleicht liegt es auch daran, dass das woanders einfach als „kleine Gerichte“ auf der Speisekarte steht. Tipp für den jetzigen Inhaber: schreibt das halt so rein, dann müsst ihr nicht diskutieren. Insgesamt fiel mir (auch bereits letzten Monat) auf, dass die Portionen kleiner geworden sind. Früher gabs z. B. auf der Plaka-Platte noch Dolmas, heute muss ich die für 9,30 extra bestellen. Aua. Bei den Beilagen hat auch die Qualität nachgelassen. Brot, Krautsalat, Bratkartoffeln - früher meine Referenzen, heute kaum noch Mittelmaß. Wir kommen trotzdem wieder, die Fleischgerichte sind es wert. Aber wegen der Preise nicht mehr so oft wie früher. Tipp: die Mittagskarte, die ist wirklich günstig.

Entgegen manch anderer Bewertung, ist das Personal sehr freundlich und zuvorkommend. Das Essen war reichhaltig und hat sehr gut geschmeckt.

Bin langjähriger Kunde in diesem Lokal. Vorort und zum Mitnehmen waren die Portionen extrem Lecker, aber auch ausreichend. Leider bin ich in letzter Zeit sehr enttäuscht. Portionen Preis Gestaltung hat sich komplett geändert. Auch die 10% auf Abholung gibt es nicht, wie auf der Website beschrieben. Alles in allem inzwischen enttäuscht.

Dienstag Mittag auf der Durchreise waren wir hier. Sehr freundliches Personal, gemütliches Ambiente, saubere Toiletten, schöne griechische Musik. Aber das beste war das Essen! Nettes Personal, toller Service, gutes Essen

War einmal ein sehr gutes Restaurant zum verweilen. Waren etwas geschockt als wir die Speisekarte diesmal in der Hand hielten. Preise die jenseits von gut und Böse sind. 9,50 für ein Kindergyros welches den Namen nicht verdient. Portionen waren hier mal mega. Jetzt würde ein Kind wohl von der normalen Portion satt werden. Wir waren 6 Leute und keiner ging satt raus. Trotz Vorspeise welche aus drei klecksen Zaziki bestand (5Euro) Ja es ist alles teuerer geworden. Aber andere schaffen es auch annehmbare Portionen zu erschwinglichen Preisen anzubieten. Hinzu kommt, dass trotz nicht vollem Restaurant eines unserer Kinder erst nach Rückfrage ob man was vergessen hat sein essen bekam. Sorry aber dieses Erlebnis war letztmalig.

War mal richtig gut. Hat sich m.E. schlecht entwickelt. Wer keine Oliven, Peperoni, oder sonstige Beilagen zum Fleisch, vom Tomatenreis abgesehen, benötigt, wird vielleicht zufrieden sein. Mir war das Fleisch zu trocken, das Hack mit Knorpel hat mir auch nicht geschmeckt. Salat schmeckte nach nichts und war für meinen Geschmack lieblos angerichtet.

Wir waren mit 11 Leuten zum Mittagessen da. Parken ist über die Straße gut möglich. Getränke gibt es zu guten Preisen. Essen war sehr gut und der Service ausgezeichnet. Wir haben unser Essen schnell bekommen, obwohl das Lokalgut gefüllt war. Wir kommen sehr gerne wieder

Alles bestens vom Service bis hin zur Bedienung

Das Restaurant ist schön eingerichtet und hat auch draussen viele Plätze. Obwohl sehr viele Gäste anwesend waren, war die Bedienung sehr freundlich und speditiv. Das Essen war nicht schlecht. Die Vorspeise und das Gyros schmeckte hervorragend. Einzig der Souvlaki war ein bisschen trocken. Die Portionen waren sehr gross. Das Restaurant ist sicher zu empfehlen.

Wir waren anlässlich unseres Hochzeitstages hier zum Essen. Das Restaurant liegt gut erreichbar außerhalb der Stadtmauer von Nördlingen am Löpsinger Tor. Die Gartenwirtschaft macht einen gemütlichen und schönen Eindruck. Trotz dessen das wir nicht reserviert hatten haben wir gleich einen Platz bekommen. Auf einer auf dem Tisch stehenden extra Getränkekarte habe ich antialkoholische Fruchtcocktails und Eistee aus griechischer Produktion gesehen, meine Entscheidung war gefällt. Die Speisekarte hat ausreichend Auswahl geboten und war nicht zu voll. Bei der Essensbestellung wurde uns ein Ouzo angeboten. Als Vorspeise habe ich mir mit meiner Frau Tyropitakia (Blätterteigtaschen mit Schafskäse gefüllt) geteilt, da ich das in anderen Restaurants noch nie gesehen habe. Sehr zu empfehlen war richtig gut. Als Hauptspeise hatte meine Frau eine Plaka-Platte, meine Tochter Gyros, mein Bruder Bifteki und ich eine Vergina-Platte . Die Portionen waren üppig und das Essen war mega lecker. Den zur Hauptspeise dazugehörigen Salat hatten sie vergessen zu servieren. War aber kein Problem wurde gleich nachgereicht. Um das ganze abzurunden gab es beim bezahlen noch einen Ouzo aufs Haus und der Abend war perfekt. Ich esse gerne griechisch und werde auf jeden Fall wieder kommen.

Kann man nur empfehlen, trotz vollem Haus schnell das Essen bekommen, Bedienungen freundlich und nett. Speisekarte umfangreich und für jeden was dabei, Essen sehr lecker.

Immer wieder gebe hier zum Essen. Das Ambiente ist schön und das Essen wirklich lecker. Lediglich die jüngeren Kellnerinnen vergessen hin und wieder mal ein Getränk oder eine Vorspeise von der Bestellung. Aber halb so wild, das kommt dann mit der Erfahrung. Ansonsten alles top, kommen gerne wieder!

Wir wurden unfreundlich begrüßt mit dem Hinweis dass man immer reservieren muss,wir aber einen Tisch bekommen könnten wenn wir es schaffen bis 13 Uhr fertig zu sein. Wir mussten lang auf die Speisekarte warten, so dass ich selbst zum Kellner gehen musste, mit dem Hinweis darauf dass wenn wir schon schnell fertig werden müssen dann auch die Speisekarte brauchen um zu bestellen. Das Lokal ist sehr klein und das Ambiente altmodisch. Der Salat hat sehr lecker geschmeckt Das Fleisch war aber zäh und der Nachtisch trocken und fettig. Wir werden nicht mehr wieder kommen und können die vielen guten Bewertungen gar nicht verstehen.

Essen wie immer hervorragend, Preis und Leistung stimmt, gerne wieder

Einer der besten Griechen in der Umgebung. Das Essen wird schnell zubereitet und trifft absolut meinen Geschmack! 👍 Das Ambiente ist im griechischen Stil eingerichtet. Es gibt zahlreiche Sitzplätze im Innen- und Außenbereich. Kostenlose Parkmöglichkeiten gibt es ebenfalls in der Nähe, 2 Gehminuten.
