Two fantastic evenings! A true Helmstedt institution. Young and old Kostas are phenomenal! Plus the lovely Angeliki.

We were very disappointed this time. Not recommended for a cozy evening with friends – very cramped, very little space. The appetizer was good, but unfortunately, it was cleared away very quickly because the main course was served before anyone had finished. First, the wrong food arrived, then the food was partially cold – the gyros was very greasy and inedible. Dessert was unavailable, as was all the coffee/mocha. The ladies had cocktails, but unfortunately, the garnish was also gone – there was just a rubber snake on them – unacceptable. So, in conclusion – never again!!!

Kosta has been in Helmstedt for 40 years. It's now an icon. The food was, as always, plentiful and delicious, with the best tzatziki in the world and warm bread. If you order extra Metaxa sauce, you get enough for two. The restrooms are super clean and new. The ambiance is a bit dated, but that also has a certain charm. Perhaps Kosta's children will modernize it one day. We always enjoy coming back. The prices are absolutely reasonable. Best Greek restaurant nearby.

We were on our way to the Netherlands and had a delicious meal here. Madame was incredibly friendly, our sweet puma 🐾 was welcomed with open arms, such lovely people and we also got two small bottles of wine to take home, they said that is for later when you get home 💛

We had to stop for refueling on the way to Berlin and stumbled upon the Athen restaurant, where we enjoyed delicious gyro, eggplant with feta, and tzatziki. For dessert, we shared Greek yogurt with honey and walnuts. The food was delicious and the service exceptionally friendly. We would definitely come back.

I was passing through and I have to honestly say I only stayed once and would never stay again. It smelled very strongly of cigarette smoke and the interior was very outdated.

We stumbled upon this place by chance while passing through, and we haven't regretted it for a second. From the food to the incredibly fast service, everything was fantastic. We would come back if it weren't so far. :D

Hello dear community, The food wasn't seasoned and the fries were small sticky sticks. The only thing that was okay was the small salad. Supposedly, Coca-Cola was Sinalco. Service? What kind of service? All I can say is, stay away unless you like bad food and worse service.

Costa is an institution. A Greek native

While passing through, we had a very good meal at Athens today. It appears to be a well-run family business; we felt very comfortable. The mixed Rhodes meat platter tasted wonderful, as did the small side salad. The portions were generously sized. We particularly liked the fact that, unlike many places, they serve uncooled salads here. The farmer's salad tasted wonderful; the tomatoes, cucumbers, onions, and pepperoni, as well as, of course, the feta, had a wonderful flavor. The tzatziki, which has already been praised several times, is really very good. The Greek mocha to finish it off is full-flavored. If we ever come back to this area, we'll definitely come back here.

Costa is as much a part of Helmstedt as the Hausmannsturm. A Helmstedt original. For us, it's the best gyro and the best tzatziki for miles around. That's why we keep coming back.

Drunk people came out, you didn't know exactly whether it was open or closed

A somewhat odd, kitschy collection of pictures on the walls. Friendly service. Reasonable prices. They even have (significantly cheaper) senior citizen portions, which are perfectly adequate. Only the fries are a bit dry (reheated?)

You enter the restaurant and are surrounded by cigarette smoke. No, not recommended.

We ordered gyros with fries and mayo. So far, it was pretty good. The gyros came without tzatziki. We asked for more and were served a bowl of tzatziki. When we paid, the owner asked who would pay for the tzatziki. It cost an extra €5. One time, and never again.

If, like us, you want to charge your electric car at the fast charging stations opposite on the way to Berlin and want to have something to eat while charging, you should consider this small restaurant. Almost all tables were actually reserved, but we were still warmly welcomed and served attentively. The price-performance ratio is good. The Greek farmer's salad is recommended, but the other dishes also looked delicious. The tzatziki is exceptional. Popular with regular customers, as you can see from the other reviews. Nice atmosphere reminiscent of summer vacation in Greece 🇬🇷. And of course there is also ouzo. I didn't look at the wines on the menu because we were passing through in the car, but if there were also Boutari wines or Tsantali Kanenas or Mostra wines from Tsililis, who could say no to that.

I am visiting this establishment for the second time. The impressions are twofold... I'll start with what I didn't like. The first is that it is not stated anywhere that only cash is accepted in the institution, secondly, there is no ashtray when entering the institution. On our last visit, we didn't finish our dishes, but we weren't going to leave the place, however, the waiter came and took our dishes, but we didn't react and left the waiter a tip. The facility does not have a very pleasant smell. Among the positives, I can single out delicious cuisine, although I have a cool attitude towards Greek cuisine. The establishment is quite nicely decorated inside.

Thank you very much for the time we were able to spend with you on our journey. It was a pleasure for us to enjoy the excellent food, so my wife is thinking about traveling 350 km to visit you again. With sunny greetings from the Far East

The food was again good and plentiful, the service is always friendly and accommodating. And then head to the little corner pub 🍻that’s what a rustic evening should be like.

Apart from the fact that the operators' children are running around at the tables, the waiter sits down at the table to take the order and parking is rather difficult, it was okay. I didn't expect miracles and the food was okay for the price. The ambience could still be improved, but one advantage: the opening times. You can go there all day and I found that very good because most restaurants only open from 5 p.m.

We were looking for a restaurant on the way home, based on the good reviews we chose Athens. Very nice reception, the service was really great. As a starter we decided on Tzazik, which was unfortunately too salty and made with too much garlic. We ate about half of it with lots of bread. The main course was baked biftaki in Metaxa sauce. The meat tasted very good, but the sauce was very runny and there was too much cheese on the meat. The accompanying fries were crispy, really good. The ambience is a bit old and kept quite dark.

Food like you're on vacation, warm service like you're on vacation, Uozo like you're on vacation! If you really want original Greek food, this long-established Greek family has been the right place for you for at least 25 years. Here you can find all the typical dishes of Greek cuisine. I had the Athena grill plate and absolutely had to have the rest packed up. All types of meat are absolutely tender and have a really delicious grilled taste. I finally got my wish to choose this Greek restaurant when visiting Helmstedt and even my sister was completely blown away. Finally, great conversations and a delicious conclusion with icy ouzo. Just as I knew it from before and have never encountered it again, except here. We were impressed by the coziness in the modernized seating areas and the charm between old and new ensures the right mix between quaintness and modern, somehow cool, elegant style. The evening went beyond the 5 stars and I'm already looking forward to my next stay in Helmstedt. Thank you for this great evening and warm exchange with the most delicious food, which is guaranteed to be remembered.

That wasn't exactly a revelation. You can go, but you don't have to. The food was quite good, but unfortunately the presentation was somewhat bland and the service staff wasn't as attentive as they should be at all times. Maybe it just wasn't the best day there.

I spontaneously ordered takeaway. The reception was already incredibly friendly and I was looked after incredibly warmly while I was waiting. There was also support with carrying the food to the car. And the food itself was really, really tasty. So I would easily give it 100 stars. Unfortunately I was only visiting the town and live far away. Otherwise I would definitely be a regular. Keep it up 👏🏻

They really do a good job of calamari and gyros here, and it's especially cool that they offer warm food all day long! The staff is friendly, prices are right too! The tomato salad was a flop, but that wasn't why I was here.

Are otherwise in the Syrtaki Restaurant and came here on a recommendation. After waiting 10 minutes and letting us know that we would like to order, we were able to place our order. The food came in a reasonable time, but I was shocked at the small portions we were served for this price. The liver was completely burnt and looked like a knocked shoe sole, the rice was watery, bland and mushy. The side salad was just topped so that the plate was lightly covered. 1 slice of cucumber, 1 small Piece of tomato. Also quite unloving. The souvlaki pies were completely fine. It was all very disappointing and so the plate was returned at least half full. In my opinion, this is not a restaurant, but rather a pub where warm food is offered and when you pay, the landlord sleeps in the shop and throws a Duplo on the counter after the bill 😂 So once and never again... Stay at our very great and mega delicious Syrtaki Restaurant.

After all the restaurants in our city closed on Monday lunchtime, we went to Helmstedt. Our 29 is also available there in the usual size and afterwards you would be treated to ouzo, something that has apparently been abolished in the local Greeks.

Good experience! My partner & I took the mixed grill for 2 persons which was €40,00. The amount of meat was perfect for the 2 of us! The Tzatziki was definitely home-made and full of taste! A lot of garlic, standard in Germany 😂 they don't use it that often in the Netherlands. The temperature in the restaurant was the only thing bothering us, it was high. The staff doesn't speak English so we had to translate to Germany. No problem for us, just a little side note. The taste of the food was perfect, only we didn't like the liver. They don't serve the in the Netherlands at Greek restaurants, happy they don't haha! That's just a matter of taste tho. 🤪 Also they serve 0,5L soda's! That's amazing. Long story short: Good food, good prices, hot restaurant when temp outside is a little bit high, and a lot of choice!

Waitress was quite unfriendly, food was good. Waiting times for the bill/drinks were relatively long... even though it was quite empty.

It's simply become too expensive, you have to pay extra for almost everything that was normally included with a gyro plate. We used to go there several times, but we've been avoiding going there for about two years.

This was a rather simple meal with very little sophistication. A simple salad as a starter and souvlaki with French fries were a bit modest and would have belonged in a snack bar.

So far the food has always been great. Costa and his family are typically Grischich. Unfortunately, with the last two orders, the rice was no longer what we were used to. Otherwise everything is great.

Eat good, Service OK, Ambience good

This is simply nothing more than a pub with hot food. If you have three per mille in your head, you won't complain about the food. I had a grill plate on which the liver was freshly grilled. The meat was kept warm and therefore wobbly and soft and seasoned without salt so that it doesn't dry out so quickly. The rice was more of a watery risotto. The gyro meat was probably cut down so that it was already brown and crispy and then kept warm. The starter salad was so warm, it must have been prepared in the warm kitchen for a long time. Well, I still wanted to stay a while and drink a good beer, but without being asked I was presented with the bill with an ouzo and old Duplo. Before I could say that I wanted to stay, the landlord or cook already wished me a happy Pentecost.
