Restaurant Athen in Bad Driburg

We ate there on November 1st. The restaurant was busy, but not crowded. The staff was a bit grumpy, and we didn't really get much attention. The food was okay, but the portions were meager. Parking was available. We probably won't be going back, as we were somewhat disappointed.

I've rarely eaten so badly; the food was lukewarm and very bland. I think even a small snack bar could do better. The beer wasn't properly chilled either. All in all, it was a complete disappointment.

I spontaneously stopped there for lunch by myself. Getting a table wasn't a problem. The service was quick and friendly. The food was very tasty, not dry at all, but really juicy. The salad as a starter was a bit watery, as it hadn't been spun at all. If you disregard that, it was very delicious. The only real criticism is the portion size. There could/should/should have been a bit more gyros on my plate. You can certainly eat here without hesitation, but some people might not be completely satisfied.

The atmosphere was pleasant and cozy. The grilled dishes were particularly delicious, and the marinated vegetables also tasted wonderful. The orange juice was somewhat disappointing, however, as it was rather tasteless. Furthermore, the glasses unfortunately smelled of fish.

Once and never again. The food was somewhat poorly presented, the portions were small, and the fries weren't crispy. The service was a bit overwhelmed. The online pictures don't match the reality. No bread, no tzatziki, and ouzo only available on request. All in all, bad.

Unfortunately, the standard of a Greek restaurant is already reflected in the menu. It's neither one thing nor the other. The food was rather mediocre, drenched in plenty of oil and garlic. We spent a day in Bad Driburg today and ate at this restaurant. The food was just mediocre at a chip shop, at restaurant prices. The fries were still soft and undercooked. The gyro was barely seasoned. The souvlaki and suzuki, on the other hand, were slightly overseasoned. We won't be eating at this restaurant again. A waste of money. To summarize: simply terrible

Very friendly staff – even when the restaurant is full, you get good service. The ambiance inside is typical of Greek restaurants. The terrace, although right on the street, is also cozy. The dishes were okay, and special requests were no problem. Pickup is possible, but it's always best to reserve a table. Parking is available.

As soon as I entered, I was greeted with a warm smile – I immediately felt welcome. The service was attentive, friendly, and very accommodating. The food was an absolute delight: freshly prepared, delicious, and reasonably priced. Unfortunately, the salad that accompanied the dish wasn't to our taste—it was too sour. We found the portions of the main courses rather small, and the meat was unfortunately a bit too salty. Overall, the meal didn't quite meet our expectations.

Lamb fillet not recommended. After giving the food four stars last time, this time I can only give it one. The rather expensive lamb fillet, at first glance, reminded me of soup meat where the tendons hadn't been removed. They still need to learn how to handle criticism. Bad meat and overcooked. This dish should be removed from the menu.

There were five of us and we had five different dishes. Every meal was uniquely good. The fillet was on point, the gyros were well seasoned like everything else, the salad was fresh and crunchy and the lamb shank was first class. The slightly longer wait was definitely worth it. The service was extremely friendly and attentive, even though the restaurant was very busy, she was professional. We would love to come back. I can't understand the bad comments. For me one of the best Greeks. And I have already visited many.

ABSOLUTELY NOT recommended. One star is still too much!!! The food is reasonably good but the service is a complete disaster!!! The table next to us is being served, cleared and re-set and we are completely ignored. We weren't even asked if we wanted something more to drink. We waited 1.5 hours after eating until we got up and left. We even considered whether we should leave without paying because no one was interested anyway.

I was here for the first time with my family today. We were all absolutely thrilled. I can recommend the Ouzo plate with fries. The meat was very seasoned and really juicy. Everything fit. The service was very friendly and quick. It was fun to be here. It's a shame you're not in Dortmund, otherwise we would come there more often. 😉

Unfortunately, you can no longer order food in advance and then pick it up. You have to be in the restaurant when ordering.

The restaurant was empty and we were asked if we had a reservation. There would be little space. When we left, there was still plenty of space and the restaurant wasn't full. In terms of price/performance ratio, I found it to be too expensive. The liver didn't taste exactly fresh, almost as if it had been warmed up. It also tasted very garlicky. The interior seems rather uncomfortable and since everything is so open, it was quite loud.

Unfortunately we had to wait a long time for the food and then the last meal came 15 minutes later, there were only four of us, service could have been a bit more attentive, the food wasn't complete, when we complained the owner became very unfriendly.

I had the impression that the starters at the next table looked better than our main courses. Everything tastes fine.

Yesterday we were in the restaurant with a group. Very friendly service, but the way the food was presented on my plate... That's not possible... Two chicken breast fillets that I had to look for in the amount of Metaxa sauce. No decorations on the plate, no tzatziki anywhere, no olive, no pepperoni, just a blob of rice. All in all it was carelessly prepared, not to mention the salad. Only white green, a strip of red cabbage is plopped in, as well as a strip of carrot. Sorry, I can do it better at home... The meat was well fried, that was probably the case with the men too, but anything that wasn't meat was a disaster...

The taste was okay, but my wife's metaxa sauce was slightly seasoned. Unfortunately, the service attention was limited, but friendly. However, we refrain from visiting the restaurant again.

Neither the salad nor the fries were on the plate. The food also came very differently from time to time. Some had already eaten the salad than others who hadn't gotten it yet. The waitress apologized every time but somehow that didn't make it any better. The restaurant's ambience was as it should be for a normal Greek. I have nothing to complain about there.

Someone else should say they don't deserve anything anymore, they don't want any more customers, it's a shame we'll never go there again. We spontaneously came here for dinner on a Monday evening. Despite the hustle and bustle, we received a friendly welcome and were able to enjoy delicious food.

Das Personal ist sehr unfreundlich unkompetent und nicht an Kunden interessiert. Bei unserem eintreffen bekamen wir als erstes gesagt, das es keinen Gyros mehr gibt( in einem griechischen Restaurant ) und das es mit dem Essen sehr lange dauern wird. Getränke bekamen wir erst auf mehrfaches nachfragen. Wir hatten die ganze Zeit das Gefühl, nicht erwünscht zu sein. Das Essen selbst war gut, obwohl bei meiner Bestellung Brot dabei sein sollte, was ich auch nicht bekommen habe. Und zu guter letzt, mehrfach gesagt das wir zahlen möchten, kam aber leider keiner. Sind dann an die Theke gegangen, da bekamen wir nur zur Antwort, es geht schneller wenn sie hierher kommen, also zur Theke. Werden dieses Lokal nie wieder betreten.

The food here is subterranean. 1. It takes an eternity from the time you order until it's at the table. 2. The food ordered for a table of 4 arrives very late. The 4th guest got his food, the other 3 guests had long since finished. Sorry, none. 3. The quality of the food was terrible, I had liver with gyros - the gyros were lukewarm and didn't taste good at all and the liver was partly raw. The other food really wasn't any better. So dear people, save yourself this restaurant, I can't recommend it with the best will in the world. Oh yes and the ambience - well, everything is very old-fashioned and doesn't exactly invite you to linger.

We had a waiter who impressed with his strong smell of cannabis and forgot it while we were ordering. But he made up for it by studying the menu at our table. It's not possible to burn yourself with food, but the Metaxa was really good. When the weather was bad, which we had, people were reluctant to serve outside, and a 0.3l is probably a big beer. The waiter exchanged this for a 0.4l after patiently explaining that 0.3 was not big.

Das Personal war total überfordert und auf die Anzahl der Gäste nicht vorbereitet, obwohl man an einem Pfingstwochenende und bei guten Wetter schon damit rechnen muss, dass Gäste zum Essen ein Restaurant aufsuchen. Das Personal war unfreundlich, meckerte sich vor den Gästen noch gegenseitig an, absolut unprofessionell. Das Gyros war nicht lange genug am Spieß. Insgesamt ist das Lokal absolut nicht zu empfehlen.
