Restaurant Artemis in Essen

After a 15-year break, we were back. Numbers 13 and 307 were still on the menu. Delicious. Pastitio was impeccable. We'll be back.

Authentic, warm, and simply delicious! For me, Artemis in Essen is the epitome of Greek hospitality. As soon as you enter, you're greeted with a warm handshake and immediately feel at home. The atmosphere is cozy and typically Greek—a place to feel good. The food? A dream! Fresh, aromatic, and prepared with love. The grilled platters and homemade tzatziki are a must-try. The vegetarian dishes are also highly recommended. The portions are generous, the value for money is excellent, and as a little extra, they often throw in a free ouzo. I'll definitely be back—Efcharistó, Artemis team!

Disappointing – we won't be back Unfortunately, our last visit to Restaurant Artemis was very disappointing. The staff seemed unfriendly and stressed, which made for a less than pleasant atmosphere. Even worse: the quality of the food had declined significantly compared to before – carelessly prepared and taste-wise, nothing special. You felt like you were supposed to order, eat, and leave as quickly as possible. One thing is for sure: This was our last visit.

The food was good and the price was ok, unfortunately the starter and main course came together, which I didn't like because the main course was unfortunately no longer very warm.

This was my third time eating at Artemis, and I was not disappointed. I received a friendly welcome. I ordered my drink and was given an ouzo to go with it. For dinner, I ordered souvlaki with gyros and fries. The meat was well seasoned and, most importantly, not dry but nice and juicy. The chef was very friendly, as were his staff. The restaurant was full, and that's saying something. I had booked under the name Hofmann. I really don't understand some of the negative reviews. The restaurant has a lot of heart. The quality of the food has declined. The interior needs a renovation. However, this restaurant has a great atmosphere. The staff is very friendly and accommodating. As far as I know, it's for sale.

The service is extremely negative. We were hardly greeted when we entered and were not served until very late. The waitress hardly paid any attention to us and even forgot dessert in the end. It felt like you weren't welcome. Unfortunately there was no friendliness either. The food was mediocre at best, unless your standards are high. We were looking for typical Greek sophistication, but didn't find it. It was very warm and stuffy in the restaurant. The ambience (especially outside) gives an idea of ​​the remaining lovelessness. On Saturdays at around 8:45 p.m. I got a table without a reservation, even though the restaurant was packed...so I've always been lucky so far.

Groot grieks restaurant in hartje Essen. Ontvangst was vriendelijk en vlot. Kaart werd gelijk gebracht en na 5min werd de bestelling al opgenomen. Het eten kwam binnen 20min op tafel. De 'Souvlaki uberbacken mit metaxasauce und kase' bestelt en deze was heerlijk en wordt opgediend in een pan. Ouzo van het huis gratis na de bestelling ontvangen. Enige kleine minpuntje toen ik had aangegeven dat ik wilde betalen die bijna 15min heeft geduurd voor de rekening kwam.

Yes, you can really recommend this place. It is clean and the service is very nice. The food is very sumptuous. When I go out I'm full.

We have been eating at Artemis for many years and, on the whole, have always been very satisfied with the quality of the food. The friendliness of the staff and the owner have always been very, very friendly. We appreciate that and can really recommend the Greek restaurant.

Artemis The restaurant is decorated in a typically Greek style. On the walls, hand-painted Greek gods and virgin women look out at you. The easy-care plants (plastic😅) are dust-free. That's not the case in some restaurants!!! The reception was friendly and I was shown to a small table that seemed nice. On the table was a menagerie stocked with vinegar, oil, salt, pepper and even toothpicks. As an introduction there was an ouzo on the house. The small side salad that was served was delicious. I had gyros, suflaki with fries and rice. The gyro was really tasty because it was well seasoned. The Suflaki had good roasted flavors but, like everywhere else, a bit dry. The fries were crispy and didn't taste like grease. The rice was lightly tomatoized which gave it a fruity taste. Although the restaurant was very busy, I didn't feel any rush from the nice, polite waiters. The price/performance ratio is very good. Overall, I was very satisfied and if I'm in Essen again I know where I'll definitely eat again. I felt very comfortable. A little Greece in the middle of the city of Essen.

I and my companion found the food very sober and quite cold. Metaxa sauce was more like pudding in consistency... Service wasn't very attentive... The starter plates were left standing even though they were empty and only taken away when they were pointed out... And in my opinion quite a few artificial plants... it's a shame we were hoping for more. .

The ambience is not bad. The food is simply great, super tasty and the portions are mega sufficient. But the service here deserves a 5 star plus with an asterisk. We were there for lunch on Sunday with 2 wheelchair users. The side entrance was immediately opened for us, where we were able to walk/drive to our table without any problems and without disturbing other guests. Our wishes were taken into account when ordering. For example, the adult person received a children's meal. The nice lady offered to serve us immediately start cutting the meat skewers for the person with a disability. The request to pack the salads and the remaining meat was nothing unusual and was received very friendly. There are not many bars and restaurants that are so close to the guest. Thank you to all the staff and the service. We had a nice day with you 💝.

We visited here with a larger group on a weekday. Despite many different dishes, everyone's food arrived almost at the same time and was still warm for everyone. The quantity was more than sufficient. In addition, the service was very attentive, so we were never left high and dry. You can therefore make a recommendation.

Expected more After the many good reviews, we met up with friends there. The restaurant was more than full, but that hardly bothered us. Unfortunately, the service fell by the wayside as everyone just rushed around and forgot half of it. The Metaxa for the meal never showed up, the starter came with the main course, drinks then had to make a strong impact. The food was well seasoned and tasted good - unfortunately it was served barely warm - as was the espresso after the meal.

Service was very friendly and funny!!! Unfortunately, our reserved table was not ready. The main room is nice and Greek, but the back room doesn't have a real Greek feeling, unfortunately. Suvlaki skewer was ok. Fries with additional salt were good. Unfortunately the gyros were nothing... unseasoned and not crispy!! And with all of us at the table the food could have been warmer!!! But the appetizer surprise platter is recommended.

Very friendly service, unfortunately we didn't have a reservation so we sat in the next room. But the food was very tasty. The meat was tender and perfectly seasoned.

Unfortunately, the Artemis Greek Restaurant disappointed us. The food was far from authentic and felt like a mass fare. The starter, a bland salad, came with a ready-made dressing that offered neither freshness nor taste. The main course - a kind of meat dish in sauce - also looked like it had been taken from the freezer. In terms of taste, it was one-dimensional, far too creamy and heavy, without any sophistication. The fries on the side were standard, not something you'd expect at a Greek restaurant, and seemed to have just been quickly fried and left out. Overall a disappointing visit – zero eight fifteen across the board. If you're looking for real Greek cuisine, you won't find it here.

I've been eating here since I was little. I haven't lived here in the meantime but the last time I ate here I was simply surprised. Same owner and the taste is still as good as before. Price performance and can't be topped. I don't know how they make a profit for the quality and the price. Sometimes the owner comes and greets you personally and asks if it tastes good. Always happy and I hope they stay there for decades to come.

We were in North Rhine-Westphalia for a few days and came from Baden-Württemberg, and I have to say the food is delicious, the people there are humorous and super nice, and the ambience is also so beautiful.

We ate here to pass the waiting time for a concert. The restaurant is incredibly chic and conveys the perfect Greek flair. The staff is friendly and attentive. The food was perfect! Tender meat, fresh salad, perfect fries and the bill at the end was significantly lower than it would have been in our area. Clear recommendation, come in and feel good.

I don't often write reviews, but amidst the mostly positive reviews, I really have to question the authenticity of this one. The food was subpar, the service terrible. The gyro was dry, as was the liver, the lamb fillet Provence was simply swimming in hollandaise, the baked potato was grayish on the inside and covered in convenience sour cream - help! After we reported that the liver was very dry, there was little reaction. All in all, absolutely not recommended.
