Cozy ambience in Greek style. Staff very friendly and the food was very tasty. We were there with 6 people and everyone enjoyed it very much. Gyros and the other types of meat were very juicy, the side dishes were appropriate, and the portion was completely sufficient even for men. Can only be recommended.

I and my companion found the food very sober and quite cold. Metaxa sauce was more like pudding in consistency... Service wasn't very attentive... The starter plates were left standing even though they were empty and only taken away when they were pointed out... And in my opinion quite a few artificial plants... it's a shame we were hoping for more. .

Food, service and ambience were very good. The baked feta was terrific. and the service was very attentive and nice. The food came very quickly even though the restaurant was completely full.

Not all of the waiters were friendly to me, but in the end we had a very nice waiter. The food was very tasty, I can only recommend it. It's always full, but you can always get a table.

Prices rose sharply; The portions have become smaller. Addendum in 2024: Portions normal size again, friendly staff, prices for the portion size are acceptable. The owner seems to have changed. Now TOP

The ambience is not bad. The food is simply great, super tasty and the portions are mega sufficient. But the service here deserves a 5 star plus with an asterisk. We were there for lunch on Sunday with 2 wheelchair users. The side entrance was immediately opened for us, where we were able to walk/drive to our table without any problems and without disturbing other guests. Our wishes were taken into account when ordering. For example, the adult person received a children's meal. The nice lady offered to serve us immediately start cutting the meat skewers for the person with a disability. The request to pack the salads and the remaining meat was nothing unusual and was received very friendly. There are not many bars and restaurants that are so close to the guest. Thank you to all the staff and the service. We had a nice day with you 💝.

We visited here with a larger group on a weekday. Despite many different dishes, everyone's food arrived almost at the same time and was still warm for everyone. The quantity was more than sufficient. In addition, the service was very attentive, so we were never left high and dry. You can therefore make a recommendation.

Expected more After the many good reviews, we met up with friends there. The restaurant was more than full, but that hardly bothered us. Unfortunately, the service fell by the wayside as everyone just rushed around and forgot half of it. The Metaxa for the meal never showed up, the starter came with the main course, drinks then had to make a strong impact. The food was well seasoned and tasted good - unfortunately it was served barely warm - as was the espresso after the meal.

Service was very friendly and funny!!! Unfortunately, our reserved table was not ready. The main room is nice and Greek, but the back room doesn't have a real Greek feeling, unfortunately. Suvlaki skewer was ok. Fries with additional salt were good. Unfortunately the gyros were nothing... unseasoned and not crispy!! And with all of us at the table the food could have been warmer!!! But the appetizer surprise platter is recommended.

Very friendly service, unfortunately we didn't have a reservation so we sat in the next room. But the food was very tasty. The meat was tender and perfectly seasoned.

Unfortunately, the Artemis Greek Restaurant disappointed us. The food was far from authentic and felt like a mass fare. The starter, a bland salad, came with a ready-made dressing that offered neither freshness nor taste. The main course - a kind of meat dish in sauce - also looked like it had been taken from the freezer. In terms of taste, it was one-dimensional, far too creamy and heavy, without any sophistication. The fries on the side were standard, not something you'd expect at a Greek restaurant, and seemed to have just been quickly fried and left out. Overall a disappointing visit – zero eight fifteen across the board. If you're looking for real Greek cuisine, you won't find it here.

The service was slightly overwhelmed that day. This is probably due to the opening of the Christmas market and the associated higher traffic in the restaurant. You can do better, as you have proven on my previous visits

The waiters have no manners or consideration for the customers.

I've been eating here since I was little. I haven't lived here in the meantime but the last time I ate here I was simply surprised. Same owner and the taste is still as good as before. Price performance and can't be topped. I don't know how they make a profit for the quality and the price. Sometimes the owner comes and greets you personally and asks if it tastes good. Always happy and I hope they stay there for decades to come.

We were in North Rhine-Westphalia for a few days and came from Baden-Württemberg, and I have to say the food is delicious, the people there are humorous and super nice, and the ambience is also so beautiful.

We ate here to pass the waiting time for a concert. The restaurant is incredibly chic and conveys the perfect Greek flair. The staff is friendly and attentive. The food was perfect! Tender meat, fresh salad, perfect fries and the bill at the end was significantly lower than it would have been in our area. Clear recommendation, come in and feel good.

Long waiting times, food could use more seasoning. Bifteki was dry. Tzatziki was very good.

I don't often write reviews, but amidst the mostly positive reviews, I really have to question the authenticity of this one. The food was subpar, the service terrible. The gyro was dry, as was the liver, the lamb fillet Provence was simply swimming in hollandaise, the baked potato was grayish on the inside and covered in convenience sour cream - help! After we reported that the liver was very dry, there was little reaction. All in all, absolutely not recommended.

The plastic tablecloths don't fit there.

Super delicious food. The service was average and as a little tip...the rear rooms are recommended. It's not so loud there and you're somewhat shielded from what's going on. 🌞

Thank you that something like this still exists. Even late on Saturday evening, the senior manager was still there and assigned us a table. Nice: In the old tradition, an ouzo first. My Fino plate also comes with a Metaxa at no extra charge. Fair prices - again and again!

Probably one of the most famous Greek restaurants in the city center. We were warmly welcomed and immediately greeted with a small aperitif. The price-performance ratio is right and the food is delicious. We always enjoy being there.

We were at Artemis on Saturday lunchtime. Extensive lunch menu with reasonable prices and sumptuous, very tasty dishes (1x gyros with souvlaki, fries, rice, tzatziki and 1x biftekti with fries). Very tasty and highly recommended. The service is very attentive and friendly. There was an ouzo on the house to welcome and say goodbye. So if you're in downtown Essen and want to eat delicious Greek food, you're in good hands here 👍

Wir waren spätabends an einem Samstagabend nach langer Zeit wieder hier. Wir wurden prompt bedient. Die Kellner sind nett und freundlich. Vor dem Hauptgang bekamen wir 2 Ouzos und bei der Bezahlung ebenfalls. Wir haben eine Grill-Platte bestellt. Diese war sehr gut zubereitet und bot sehr viel Auswahl an. Alles war richtig heiß und frisch zubereitet. Vorab gab es die Salat-Platte. Dazu haben wir uns noch eine Portion Zaziki bestellt, die uns hier auch sehr lecker schmeckt. Für uns immer noch einer der besten Griechen im Ruhrgebiet. Vielen Dank für die Bewirtung und wir kommen gerne wieder.

The restaurant is in the middle of the city of Essen and easy to find. Indoors there are only plastic flowers. The order was received quickly. The salad was served before the drinks, so it couldn't have been freshly made. I had the moussaka, it was lukewarm and the potatoes were undercooked. My husband had gyros, which weren't really hot and were cut very small. When we complained we just shrugged our shoulders.

Greek restaurant located in the city center. The food was mediocre but the gyros were one of the worst I've ever eaten. The starters didn't blow us away either. The interior design has seen better days, for example the bench had obvious burn holes and the indirect lighting had the charm of the 80s. Comfortable is different. With the exception of one waiter, everyone seemed a bit annoyed, short and unfriendly. The time until the first order takes forever and the repeat orders weren't any better either. I don't know whether there is usually an ouzo on the house like many other Greeks, but we definitely didn't get anything even though we were there with 8 people. It was worth a try, but there definitely won't be a second time because, in my opinion, there are much better Greek restaurants in Essen than Artemis.

We were in Essen for 2 days, I was looking for a Greek restaurant, I found it and I have to say it was super tasty and the service was very friendly. If we come here again, I know where to find good Greek food. Thanks. PS: Portions are large and fill you up 😃 Keep it up 😃

Good prices, nice staff, lukewarm food, little sauce and long waiting times

There were three of us eating there and we got a seat right away, even though it was already full. You didn't have to wait long for a waiter either. The ouzo came with the drink order - for the ladies as a cocktail (very tasty) - I only know that with us afterwards. The food was tasty and plentiful, so as a guest you don't need to worry about the price/performance ratio. I had the farmer's plate with gyros, souvlaki, liver and a lamb chop, and even had to have it wrapped up. The meat was on point and from the grill, small drawback you had to order the tzatziki separately - I would have liked to have had that with the gyros, unfortunately it was on the skewer a little too long. But we had a very nice evening with delicious food and friendly staff. Thanks.

There were three of us, two adults and one child. However, this is not the first time. We go there very often, whether with friends or as a couple. The service is great and the food is also great, whether gyros, schnitzel for the children or the salads. There is an ouzo first and a side salad with the main courses. We feel very at home there, would come back at any time and can only be recommended.

Went there for lunch yesterday. Friendly reception and friendly service. We chose our delicious meal from the lunch menu. Drinks were well chilled, food was fresh and served hot. And always friendly and accommodating. We always enjoy coming here from time to time and seeing familiar faces. We would be happy to come back.
