The wedding dinner was very good. Communication with the owner was beyond poor. Questions weren't answered. The promised menu preview simply wasn't sent. The venue was far too noisy for a wedding dinner, as every inch of space was being used for other wedding events. With the exception of one waiter, the staff was very friendly. Kudos to the concierge who helped with decorating, etc. Very good for a simple meal. I would never book there again as an event venue due to the poor communication and "I don't care" attitude.

We came here for the first time with our friends on Sunday. And I have to say, I was really impressed. The service was excellent, it was also very comfortable, and the breakfast buffet was really plentiful, with a selection ranging from ground beef to sushi, cheese, scrambled eggs, half eggs, and plenty of coffee, orange juice, and seltzer. It was really delicious. We would go back again.

The Halstenbek Family Association of 1880 spent an unforgettable Sunday with a delicious BBQ at the Ihlsee Restaurant, attended by 136 people. The service was prompt, friendly, and professional. The griller served the meat to perfection, and the kitchen team brought delicious side dishes to the buffet. All in all, a successful event. We were guests at a wedding at the wonderful restaurant on Lake Ihlsee. The grilled food was amazing. There was also an extremely large and delicious selection from the cold buffet, including a wide selection for vegetarians. During the ceremony, we enjoyed a magnificent view of Lake Ihlsee. The very attentive and friendly staff rounded off the evening with plenty of fun and great drinks! We'd be happy to go again :)

My wife and I celebrated our wedding here at the restaurant on Lake Ihl on May 9, 2025. The planning and coordination with Mr. Frank went smoothly and easily. Mr. Frank is incredibly personable, and he took the time to discuss everything important for the celebration in personal conversations. Everything was tailored to our wishes and expectations when creating the menu, decor, schedule, and everything else. The location right on the lake is a dream, and the terrace offers a great view of the water. The food was truly outstanding, as many of our guests confirmed afterward. With our almost 80 guests, we had a unique celebration here that we will remember fondly. Our thanks go to Mr. Frank and his team, and especially to the brave staff who stayed with us late into the night.

We celebrated our wedding at the Restaurant am Ihlsee last year – and looking back, we couldn't be happier with our decision. From the very first contact, we felt completely in good hands. The owner, Mr. Frank, gave us a warm welcome and was an exceptionally personable and attentive host from the very beginning. The entire team was also consistently friendly, professional, and very accommodating – a real highlight during the planning and on the day itself! The location is gorgeous – we had a sunny day and were able to enjoy the beautiful terrace with its magnificent view over the lake. The stylish decor on site perfectly matched the atmosphere. We and our guests were particularly impressed by the lovingly arranged tables and the reception area with its harmonious candle and floral decorations. Our celebration was a true culinary feast! Unfortunately, we can't recommend it anymore. We won't be back. If you want to eat ready-made schnitzel with convenience sauce for almost €30, this is the place for you. The other dishes are also overpriced. Service is largely overwhelmed. Even the salad bar isn't regularly replenished. No one cares about friendly complaints either. It's a shame.

The restaurant is beautifully situated by the lake and has a tasteful interior. Unfortunately, the service was overwhelmed. We waited 20 minutes for the menu, but our plates were cleared early, even though someone was still eating. We weren't informed that there was a salad bar and had to ask for it ourselves. The food was, unfortunately, merely average. The schnitzels were soft rather than crispy, and the neck steak was only boiled, not seared or grilled. The beans were suspiciously frozen. I'm terribly sorry, but this was more snack-quality than fine dining. A shame!

We celebrated our wedding at the restaurant at Ihlsee! And what can we say: the outdoor ceremony down by the lake was beautiful and emotional. The reception on the lawn was relaxed and cool. The service at the reception and the reception truly fulfilled our every wish. It was truly a great service. The kitchen really went above and beyond with the food: buttery tender beef steaks, sausage, a live cooking station with pasta and shrimp, a cheese and salmon platter, a huge salad selection: and here, too, the restaurant at Ihlsee accommodated us and didn't deny us any wish. Great restaurant, located right on the lake—also a hotspot in the summer, as there's a swimming pool next door! Good food and a friendly staff, and they cater to your dietary needs, which unfortunately isn't the case everywhere.

We can hardly put into words how AMAZING our pearl wedding celebration with 80 guests was at the Ihlsee Restaurant in early June 2025. The delicious, varied, hot and cold buffet was fantastic, and the dessert was the icing on the cake: fresh strawberries, creamy vanilla ice cream, strawberry sorbet, and vanilla cream sauce. It was delicious. The entire ambiance was very tasteful, and the outdoor area was truly beautiful. The tables in the large banquet hall were beautifully set with pretty flowers. The lovely waitresses were particularly attentive and very friendly. Not to forget the fantastic kitchen crew, who conjured up a plentiful and incredibly delicious meal for us. We will always remember this wonderful evening. A big shout out to Lutz Frank and his entire, fantastic team at the Ihlsee Restaurant! Thank you for EVERYTHING!

A very nice restaurant located directly on the lake. Beautifully furnished with rustic wooden tables. A terrace overlooking the idyllic lake. The menu isn't particularly extensive, but it offers a reasonable variety and something for everyone. The dishes served were good, and the portions were generous. We had a reservation. Nevertheless, we were assigned a table in the middle of the restaurant (not for the first time) in a rather poor location. Unfortunately, the staff seemed rather unengaged. Since the swimming pool is next door and the restaurant doesn't have its own parking spaces, parking spaces may be scarce, especially on nice days.

Ten of us were there on Sunday for an asparagus dinner. Everything was perfect. We had the most beautiful spot on the lakeside terrace with a stunning view of the lake. The buffet was very extensive, the food delicious, and the service very friendly, even though it was full and everyone was very busy. Thank you all.

We came here for dinner around 3:00 PM after a small family celebration, as the Ihlsee Restaurant serves hot meals throughout the day. It was fairly empty, so we could choose our seats. We ordered breaded schnitzel with mushroom cream sauce and fried potatoes, as well as jacket potatoes with crab. As soon as the food arrived, I could see that the schnitzel with the cream sauce didn't make a good impression. The schnitzel was frozen and then fried to death! The mushrooms were from a jar/can, and the supposed cream sauce was carelessly mixed together. As a result, the schnitzel was hard and essentially inedible. Any chip shop could have done better. The fried potatoes were the only thing that was OK. And that for just under €30!!! Never again. The jacket potato came with generous lettuce leaves and a small bowl of crab. Also for just under €30. You probably can't get more margin out of a meal like this. Our conclusion: With luck, you'll get a nice seat with a view of Lake Ihle, but you're better off ordering just a coffee or ice cream.

We had a big birthday party at the restaurant on Lake Ihl on June 15, 2025. Everything was perfect: the great atmosphere, the beautifully set tables, the delicious, varied food, the drinks, and, above all, the excellent service. Despite the two other large celebrations, we had the impression that everything revolved around us. Every wish was immediately fulfilled; nothing was left unanswered. This celebration will remain in our memories for a long time. We would love to come back.

I moved from Hamburg to Wahlstedt a week ago and went to the restaurant with my wife. We thoroughly enjoyed the friendliness of the staff, the ambiance, the delicious and plentiful food, and the view. We'll definitely be back. Best, Maraika and Dirk

A good choice for family celebrations

Everything was fully booked. The second time, there was no way to get a meal. I don't think you can eat there spontaneously. I think you can only get a meal with a reservation. Which also speaks volumes about the place. Maybe we'll manage that sometime.

Today, as part of a trip with over 50 people, we had lunch at this wonderful restaurant. The location on the lake is stunning. The large dining room featured invitingly set round tables. The service was excellent, very friendly, and very well organized. Drinks were served quickly. There was a buffet, so there was something for everyone. The food was delicious and plentiful. The chef personally welcomed us and provided us with interesting information. Thank you to everyone involved in the restaurant who helped make our day a wonderful one!

We had outstanding catering for our garden party with 40+ people! From the initial contact to the pickup the day after the party, everything was perfect, professional, and hassle-free. The food (cake, soup, and buffet, including dessert) was incredibly delicious, very varied, and all our individual requests were accommodated without any problems. I've known the owner for years! However, I had never been to his place until two years ago, when my wife lured me to the adjacent swimming area one summer. After our swim, we satisfied our hunger on the wonderful terrace with a lake view. It's been a favorite place ever since!!! A very nice, rustic yet modern restaurant. Lovely outdoor area. The lake backdrop is very beautiful. Friendly and quick service. Our plaice was cooked a little too long, and we had to ask for the drinks menu. There were also a lot of fried potatoes left over; even my husband couldn't finish them. Too much is thrown away. It was only noisy because we were sitting next to birthday parties. We'll definitely stop by again.

Everything is great. The service was quick and nice, despite there being two larger companies present and the owner was very friendly and communicative. The price/performance ratio was right. It was delicious and we were full and satisfied. A small complaint, without being asked (!), was more than compensated for by the owner with a delicious ice cream sundae for each of us. We were there for breakfast. You have a beautiful view of the Ihlsee. The restaurant is very well decorated. The breakfast was awesome. There was everything from roast beef, salmon, fresh scrambled eggs. A great cheese plate. Plenty of rolls and bread. Water and orange juice and of course coffee. The staff was always very attentive and carefully restocked everything. I can highly recommend breakfast there.

My blackhead had the Ihlsee plate, which not only looked fantastic but also tasted great. I was particularly impressed that special requests and intolerances were taken into account. Someone at my table had a gluten-free and vegan alternative that wasn't just any substitute, but a real feast! This shows how much love and creativity goes into cooking here. We went to the crime dinner with 12 people in the restaurant at Ihlsee. The food was really great. We 12 guests give the kitchen an A+. The service was also extremely diligent.

It was our first time at a crime dinner and we were very excited and looking forward to it. The food was great, the service was good too. But the crime piece was under the sun. A two man piece. The two of them constantly changed clothes behind a cheap curtain. I think we weren't the only ones who thought that when you looked at the audience. The two actors always waited for applause, but it never came. I don't think we'll do that again, it was far too expensive. We spent almost €200 that evening.

We were there for breakfast. Classic location, modern design. Great view of the lake. The breakfast buffet was very good quality, the selection was sufficient. We recommend it.

Great Sunday brunch - lots of delicious food. The staff was very attentive and always filled everything up and cleared away the dishes. In front of the restaurant there is a large parking lot including two public charging stations. The furnishings and the view are wonderful.

We celebrated our wedding in the restaurant in May 2024 and are completely satisfied. While looking for "a location by the water" we quickly came across the restaurant on Ihlsee. The location is really fantastic and the view from the ballroom and the terrace is beautiful. The entire planning went smoothly. We put together the menu we wanted without any problem and it was really incredibly tasty. The feedback from our guests was consistently positive. The very young service team accompanied us very attentively throughout the day/evening. We can recommend the restaurant without exception.

After our disappointing visit in October, today we accepted the restaurant's offer to invite us out for a meal and prove to us that we just had a bad day last time. We were there for brunch today and it was simply wonderful! Very attentive, friendly staff (not only with us, but also at the surrounding tables and in the really full restaurant) and a really good breakfast buffet! This was definitely not our last visit to the restaurant at Ihlsee! Basically, I can recommend asking the boss if the staff ignores a negative statement, as he really tries hard to make all guests feel comfortable! On the positive side, there is a small selection of vegan cold cuts! The old review: Last week we went to the Restaurant am Ihlsee for a lovely evening as a couple. First of all, we were given a really warm welcome and the atmosphere is just great. We had called in advance to say we would be 20 minutes later than planned and were informed that the kitchen would then only be open for 10 minutes. But there was still no stress whatsoever when greeting us and ordering. As a starter we chose a very tasty fish plate, which I can absolutely recommend. There was also salad from the buffet. Here I was missing an Italian dressing or just vinegar/oil, but otherwise the salad selection was good. For the main course we chose roulades and salmon (each served with croquettes). Unfortunately the salmon was far too dry and therefore not really edible. Since the vegetables and croquettes served with it were very tasty and I had initially hoped that the piece would be juicier in the middle, I was full before I could point this out to the waitress. But she then acknowledged it without saying too much. The roulades were okay, but not a highlight either. We then ordered a coffee and I asked for lactose-free milk for the latte macchiato. This was answered in the affirmative, but unfortunately oat milk was delivered. Not bad for me personally, as I would have agreed to oat milk, but there are plenty of people who don't like or tolerate oat milk. Even though we generally really liked the atmosphere, it was a bit disturbing that we were sitting relatively close to the cash register and then a large group who had apparently had a training session or something similar in a separate room were checked in and now each one individually had to pay for his drinks. Since it was dark, we unfortunately can't say anything about the view. Finally, I would like to emphasize once again the really good and friendly atmosphere in the service team. (Almost) everyone was excited about their job!

Great location, great food, super friendly service

I was at the game and duck buffet with my partner on December 7th, 2024 and on January 5th 25 at New Year's brunch. We both absolutely loved the delicious food and the good service! You can really tell that you are being looked after, that you care about the well-being of your guests and that the entire team is having fun at work. I can only recommend it! We have rarely experienced the combination of such good food, excellent service and beautiful ambience.

The New Year's Eve party 24/25 was awesome. Great appetizer buffet and the warm buffet was also very varied and delicious. There was something for everyone. The staff was really great. Super friendly, in a good mood and really on the ball. There was always something to drink. The DJ played great music and the dance floors were always full. We would be happy to be there again.
