"The shine is off," my experience at Alibaba Mönchengladbach Waldhausener Straße is a mere shadow of its former self. Alibaba's heyday seems to be over, too. When we visited around 6 p.m. on a Friday, the interior was completely empty, but we still had to wait a full 20 minutes for our food. Two simple dishes and two Cokes, a hefty €28. A price like something out of a fairytale. The food was okay, but nothing more. The taste was solid, but lacking in recognition. There's nothing cozy about it; the atmosphere is cold and lacking in charm. You can tell that the store only lives off its iconic name, which once meant something 30 years ago. Now, all that remains is nostalgia. If my review helped you, please give me a "like," or thumbs up. ☺️

Sometimes all you need to be happy is a slice of pizza – and that's exactly what I found here! The tuna pizza was simply perfect: a thin, crispy base, juicy toppings, and really good cheese. The tuna was fresh and just the right amount of tuna, not too much, not too little. And then there's this relaxed atmosphere in the shop – no stress, just good food and a good feeling. Definitely a place where you'll want to come back!

I've eaten Iskender many times, in many different cities and in many different restaurants. At Alibaba, it was practically perfect. Crispy bread, not greasy, great juicy meat, good sauce. The salad was also good. The whole portion was generous and filling. The owners are extremely nice and friendly, and it feels very family-friendly. From the outside, the restaurant looks unassuming, but the interior exudes Ottoman charm. I highly recommend the place and would gladly return.

I found the kebab to be average; I'd recommend a pizza instead. According to its website, the shop also offers online ordering. I was very surprised that they only accept cash payments on-site.

Unfortunately, the doner kebab is no longer the standard today. Unfortunately, I had a very bad impression. The ayran I was given was watered down. When I complained, I was initially told that this had to be the case as I had eaten it differently 100 times elsewhere. The salads in the doner kebab are good, the sauce is okay, but unfortunately the meat is always this same cardboard meat and there are no real pieces of meat in it anymore, typical Gladbach old town quality.

The grill plate was made up of ready-made frozen products. Everything was dry, everything tasted the same. Ordered for the first and last time.

I had a mixed grill. Apart from the cutlet, the rest was not edible, horrible kofte, kebabs and Adana, I have never seen that. It’s sad that we can serve this in 2025.

We had a very unpleasant experience. The table was a little narrow for six people which made movement slightly difficult, impossible to fit all the dishes on the table, we had to use a space in the wall above the table to put things on. The mixed grill was inedible, the meat was very dry. Accompanied only by fries, no wheat. Too bad card payment is not available.

I'm disappointed! Donner plate (rotisserie) is given without bread 🍞. Only on request!!! One customer gets tea, the other non-female customer. Personally, I won't eat there again. Ambiance: table chairs (6 tables) old the smoke comes through to the customer from the food. Entrance area is more Drive Inn.

I had the pasta scampi with tagliatelle and it was super delicious! The amount was a lot for €9.50 and there was no skimping on the scampi either! There was a free bread basket with flatbread and the waiter was quick and super nice! Gladly again and much better than the food at the Christmas market :)

Adana plate The Adana was a disaster. I didn't know you could do it so badly. Dry, poorly seasoned and poor quality meat. Rice completely tasteless otherwise fine. Salad was good. Overall a disappointment. 12€ is a good price for this dish but not for this implementation.

The location is in the city of Mönchengladbach and I recommend coming here for a great meal for great prices. The food is delicious and the service is friendly. Sind die Buben wo hier gerade (14.01. ca. 22:30 Uhr) einen Döner gegessen haben. Ich muss ehrlich sagen Top 5 Döner welche ich jemals gegessen habe. Bedienung sehr nett und der Döner schmeckt richtig gut. Kann hier gar nichts bemängeln, ehrliche Meinung von mir. Wie versprochen, Grüße an d chefe.

Wir waren mit 10 Leuten da. Service war nicht so schnell es liegt der Schwerpunkt eher auf to go Essen. Einfache Einrichtung wie früher in Kneipen. Essen war gut. Getränke wir hätten gern mehr getrunken.

Sehr gutes Essen, Pizza aus Feuerofen

Erste mal heute bestellt weil wir Lust auf Döner hatten. Habe einen döner Teller bestellt und eine Pizza, fanden es einfach mega lecker. Die Soßen sind lecker und das Fleisch auch. Der Salat wurde separat verpackt was schlau ist, dann bleibt der Salat frisch :) der Pizzateig war auch schön knusprig. werden jetzt immer bei euch bestellen wenn Lust auf Döner oder Pizza ist😊

Super friendly staff, great food. Only downside was that I couldn't finish the Pivar (losing 30kg in a year has it downsides as well apparently 😅) Joking aside, this is a great example of quality of Turkish fastfood which we just not have the same way in Belgium

Top Döner, freundliche Bedienung, Laden etwas abgeranzt und der Steinofengeruch hängt in den Klamotten. Essen aber ohne Einschränkung zu empfehlen.

Das Essen hat mir geschmeckt. Die Bedienung war sehr hektisch, hatte kaum eine Sekunde am Tisch verbracht, als er und die Karten brachte. Das selbe bei der Aufnahme der Bestellung. Und das, obwohl kaum Gäste da waren. Die Innenausstattung schien mir aus den 80er übrig geblieben und für meinen Geschmack ist das ganze Ladenlokal viel zu düster. Hier fehlt Licht und etwas mehr Farbe. Daher 4 von 5 Sternen

Die Bedienung ist hilfsbereit und einigermaßen zügig mit der Zubereitung des Essens fertig. Die Speise-/Getränkekarte bietet eine große Vielfalt an. Leider ist die Luft bei größerer Besetzung sehr stickig und eine Art Belüftung wäre wünschenswert. Zudem sind die Toiletten nicht so sauber und hygienisch, weshalb es nicht so angenehm ist, dort länger zu verweilen. Die Preise sind durchschnittsmäßig.

Das Essen hier ist mega. Da gibt es nichts zu bemängeln. Ich hatte einen Dönerteller und die anderen Dönertaschen. Alle waren rundum zufrieden. Qualität und Preisleistung stimmen hier. Eine kleine Anmerkung habe ich jedoch. Ein gekauftes Bier sollte anders aussehen.

Das Ali Baba ist eine Institution in der Gladbacher Altstadt. Wer kein Döner am fenster möchte, kann sich auch in den gastraum setzen, hier gelten die gleichen Preise wie beim Straßenverkauf. Ein XXL-Döner Dürüm für 6 Euro ist der Knaller, alles topfrisch und sehr lecker, auch der Dönerteller ist supergut gefüllt und schmackhaft. Die Pizzen kommen aus dem Holzbackofen, sind sehr groß und lecker, die Margerita kostet 4,50 Euro. Das Personal ist superschnell, aufmerksam und nett. Der Gastraum ist stylisch eingerichtet, vielleicht etwas kühl mit den vielen Fliesen aber sehr sauber. Eine klare Empfehlung:Da muss man hin.

In diesem Familienbetrieb bekommt man immer vernünftige Döner/Pizza! Sieht auch etwas moderner aus nach dem Umbau. Seydi ist leider nicht mehr so oft da.

Klar nach fast jedem Altstadt Besuch ist ein kleiner Snack beim Alibabba für uns ein muss. Mittlerweile gibt es in der Woche einen Lieferdienst und der kann sich echt sehen lassen. Die bestellte Dönerpizza mit Salat und Soße sah aus als wenn die gerade Persönlich vor mir zubereitet worden.Ein hoch auf die Fingerfood platte,der Lieferdienst ist echt gut.
