Restaurant Akropolis in Lindau (Bodensee)

I really don't know how all these positive reviews came about. The food wasn't even lukewarm, dripping with fat and the meat wasn't grilled properly. A Greek song played on an endless loop in the background. I really hope that wasn't the norm there today. Our table neighbors said: “Let’s get out of here!”

We sat outside, very quiet in a side street but there was still a lot to look at. The food was also very tasty 😋 It took a while, but it wasn't bad. Definitely come here again.

A wonderful restaurant with a great atmosphere! We were at the Acropolis with two babies and were warmly welcomed from the start. The staff was incredibly polite, attentive and child-friendly. The food was delicious! The moussaka and the gyro plate were particularly highlights. If you appreciate Greek hospitality and delicious food, this is the place for you.

Great food in the city center, very cozy restaurant from the outside, service is good, an older man was funny. But the shop needs a bit of love and a caretaker, lamps are missing and partly broken, decorations are full of cobwebs, so a bit slacked off but it's small things. Thank you, it was very tasty.

Went here for a late lunch and were happy that the restaurant was open all day. Enjoy your meal.

Service was good. Appetizer grilled pepperoni and olives were delicious. Main course fish grill plate: 3 types of fish of which the salmon and the mussel were inedible (cooked completely dry). After my complaint these were replaced and then they were okay. The dish was clearly too expensive for the quality received.

The food tastes good, but what I didn't like is the size of the portions. Starting with the tzatziki, continuing through the main course and ending with the dessert, I think they were too small.

The food tasted very tasty, unfortunately the portions were very small and we didn't feel full. I would have liked a small salad or something like that, as is often the case with other Greeks. The waiters were very friendly and the restaurant is nicely and comfortably furnished.

As a Greek, I am very demanding when it comes to Greek restaurants. I only discovered the Akropolis restaurant 3 weeks ago and was there for the second time with my family within 2 weeks. Everything is just right here. Greek food at the highest level, great ambience and very friendly hosts. We'll be back.

Great ambience and large selection of food

It was a very nice, cozy place. Unfortunately, the service processed us more than quickly, so you didn't really feel welcome. My husband's Bifteki was half raw and my Gyros Metaxa wasn't very good in terms of meat quality but was okay.

Pleasant Greek restaurant. Some difficulty understanding each other, but quickly resolved. Well separated plates.

Food tasted pretty tasty, recommended. Staff friendly. But we ended up with an unexpectedly high bill for the 3 dishes + 1 starter, which we couldn't explain at first. Afterwards I found out that each portion of pita bread (also served with the starter, even though I didn't order it) was charged separately. Of course you can do it, but there are other Greek restaurants with a different, more accommodating approach. In addition, there was no question of whether the drinks were small or large, they simply served a large glass for a hefty price (excessive in my opinion for a special 0.4 l).

Very disgraceful!!! Just ordered anchovies to take away, there were 7 small anchovies and some potatoes! Really outrageous for €15!!! Never again!

Gluten-free dishes, prompt service, very nice staff despite the large crowds. We sat in the entrance area, but unfortunately it was a bit drafty.

Hellas, the four of us spontaneously went to the restaurant without a reservation on Saturday after our joy of life fair. Great ambience, Greek music and started with Ouzo,) starters delicious, main course great then dessert with Greek mocha...a piece of authentic Greece in Lindau! Of course, at the end we sealed it with more ouzo from the extremely friendly service staff and the young boss. So on Sunday we were able to get through the last day at the trade fair with momentum and enthusiasm, even without a visit from the boss ;). THANKS

A Greek as we know him. Friendly, accommodating and Greek delicious. But I've had better rice and the gyro was a bit much and therefore a bit cold at the end. All in all okay, but not a lasting impression.

Nice Greek restaurant with friendly and attentive service. The dishes are clean and prepared in an uncomplicated manner. The waiting time was relatively short. The obligatory Uozo was available for free, and not everyone makes it...all in all, it's a nice meal, always a pleasure.

We came to this Greek restaurant here on Lake Constance by chance. The boss, the employees, the kitchen, everything is a family, extremely friendly and very accommodating. We have rarely eaten such good Greek food. It's all a matter of taste, but I would definitely recommend this Greek restaurant.

The alley is frequented by pedestrians and invites you to linger😋 we found it pleasant and beautiful. The food was delicious and the drinks were in no way inferior. Price performance for Lindau is completely okay. Service was good 👍 gladly again next time 😁

I can't understand the many positive reviews. The gyro was very greasy and not at all crispy. The prices are also too high. I think €24.90 for the grill plate without salad is a bit expensive. The prices shown here are not correct.

Unfortunately, far below average! Portions extremely small and very greasy! I can't recommend it more! Too expensive, no relation to performance!

Delightful and entirely 'themed' restaurant with tables also outdoors, along the street of the pedestrian area. Generous portions and good quality preparations, even if sometimes a little revisited compared to 'authentic' Greek cuisine. The plate of mixed appetizers is very appetizing, the grilled chicken and the meat dishes in general are delicious. The bill, however, is really salty... watch out for (bad) surprises at the checkout: on the menu the prices are indicated net of VAT! The 0.75 liter bottle of natural water. at more than €6 it's a steal. And even about 4 slices of bread for €4 there would be a bit to discuss. Very kind staff... for the courses, however, you need to be calm: the service cannot be defined as exactly fast (considering that the place was practically empty).

The food was very good. The starter was pita bread. Highly recommended. For the main course we had gyros gratinated with potato slices. These are fried potatoes without much fat and crispy. All very tasty. For the ambience only 4 🌟 because the table for 2 people was very awkward.

Nothing to say about the restaurant. Smart not to put the full price on the menu card... I ended up paying and 19% was added to all the dishes.

A friend and I went to the Akropolis for lunch at the beginning of September 2024. Great atmosphere, very clean and well-kept, great service, very friendly and excellent cuisine. Whether salad, grilled plate or starters, excellently seasoned and large portions. We will definitely be making a trip again to Lindau and can recommend this restaurant to everyone. Food was excellent and I say that even though I don't like Greek food and don't tolerate it well. I really only went along for my girlfriend's sake. It was really good, everything looked very appealing because of course I waited until everyone on the right and left had their food🤣 these great potatoes... can only be recommended... and everything was so beautifully prepared. After all, the eye wants to enjoy it too. The restaurant is also visually very nicely designed... and the staff and innkeepers are very nice and friendly. I don't regret trying something else

Great, calm service and a wide selection on the menu. Gyros were very tasty in all variations, the potato slices are basically fried potatoes and go perfectly. Price performance is ok for the region.

Good Greek Reataurant, with a nice atmosphere. The food was well cooked and served in big portions. We ate lamb and chicken. It was tasty, served with potatoes. Service was fast, regardless of having a lot of customers. They served by mistake sparkling water, and they replaced again with still water. They were patient in accommodating our requests.

We ate well but the owner is really not friendly and understanding with foreigners. The gyros is not served in a bun, which is strange. The fried squid was undercooked and soft, but it was the welcome that really cooled us.

Food: 2/5, Service: 1/5, Ambiance 3/5 We came with excited expectations and were bitterly disappointed. You proudly advertise that everything is fresh and that it is “authentically” Greek. We have legitimate doubts. You wait over 40 minutes and get lukewarm snack-quality gyros, a handful of fries, and a dollop of tzatiki for €25. The lamb chops were dry and lacking in taste. Is seasoning sparingly? The prices are juicier than the meat. You can also get this gyro around the corner in the Ruhr area. The waitress grumpily argued with us instead of apologizing for the long wait. The food was served carelessly, not even a single lettuce leaf was on the plate. The pita bread and the baklava were a glimmer of hope, but you don't need to go there for that alone.

Portions very small. I'm used to something different for the price. Apparently you didn't like our appearance and didn't get an ouzo despite the tip. All other guests were asked if they would like one. Outrageous. The worst Greeks I've ever eaten at.

A very nice Greek restaurant in the middle of the old town of Lindau. The staff is very friendly and accommodating. The food is really very good and the portions are big!

Very friendly staff, ate very well there. We got a seat in the restaurant without making a reservation. What was a shame, we had grilled peppers as a starter, when we asked for bread, which was supposed to be included, we got warm bread, normal bread would have been enough for us, which we were then charged for.

We were in Lindau on Thursday August 1st. By chance, my husband and I passed the restaurant with our dog. Without thinking twice, we decided to eat there. Days later we were totally blown away. We have NEVER eaten such a great gyros as we did in this restaurant. We are a bit older and have already visited a few restaurants in our lives. The food was worth a full 5 stars. The staff is also really nice. There were no problems at all with our little dog. If we go on vacation to Lake Constance again, we will definitely stop there again.

A clean and cozy restaurant. The food tastes good and the portions are more than sufficient. However, we found 1.50 euros for a robber's plate excessive. In general, we would recommend this restaurant.

Everything was still empty when we arrived. Within 20 minutes everything was full. The food was great. 🤩 The soufla kebab was delicately soft and tasted perfect. My wife's gyros were also perfect. Potato slices and tzatziki top. 👍 Price/performance very satisfied. Food is prepared quickly and tastes good. Staff very friendly.
