Restaurant Akropolis in Nauheim

Yesterday we visited this Greek restaurant for the second time and this time we were so disappointed that if it had been the first time we would never have gone there again. The first time you made an effort, but only because you were there with regular guests who you knew personally. First of all, we had reserved for 5 p.m., the restaurant opened not a minute earlier at 5 p.m., and we were only standing in front of the closed door. After we sat at the table that was given to us, we ordered the drinks, there were three of us, the place was otherwise empty, we were brought the wrong drink, only one glass for a large bottle of water, that's how it started, then we ordered them It was insisted that we had to order a starter and the main course straight away, apparently because the kitchen had to prepare. Something like that is a no-go, eating like on an assembly line is not possible. We like to sit in a restaurant for longer and otherwise always order our main course later, which is not possible here. The starter came with 4 slices of bread, since my husband and I shared them, the bread was quickly empty, we asked for more bread, we asked how many slices and it took, we asked again, the answer takes time because it is grilled. Why do you grill bread, if it's fresh it's not necessary, especially since you actually get flatbread from the Greeks, here it's just baguette, simply impossible and then counted. On the starter plate, all the pastes tasted the same, no taramas, the most typical thing for a Greek, tzatziki tasted like herb quark, there was dill in it and it doesn't belong in any tzatziki. The third paste, I have no idea, tasted like nothing, giants from a can. Then the salad for the main course came, presented incredibly carelessly, 3 leaves and a bit of carrots and cabbage, the dressing was hard to taste, my husband wanted a large salad because he otherwise didn't want a side dish with his beef liver, the salad had five leaves instead of 3, more wasn't that, impossible. Two mini pieces of beef liver, my gyros were dry and tasteless, the fries were too salty, only I didn't feel like saying anything anymore, no one came and asked if everything was ok. Then it was cleared away and no one really asked if it was good. We wanted the bill, you have to come with a card, no mobile device, a no go these days. All in all, simply unspeakably bad service, the food was absolutely not Greek, totally Germanized, and the gyros were better at every kebab stall. Conclusion not recommended if you want to eat typically Greek. It's better to drive a few kilometers to the grinding mill in Wiesbaden, where the customer is king and the food is a dream. Give 0 stars, you have to give 1 otherwise it won't be posted👎👎👎👎👎👎👎👎👎

The service ladies were very friendly, but the selection is a bit thin for children. Like almost everywhere, prices have risen. The salad is not included with every dish, although we made an exception for our daughter (9 years old), but that shouldn't be a problem if requested.

Unfriendly staff, bad food and an ugly area! The food is disgusting and the staff is snippy and anti-social. I can't recommend it at all.

We used to go to the Acropolis often and very much. The food was always delicious and the portions were generous and the service was friendly. Three weeks ago we ate there again after a long time and unfortunately it was the last time. The mixed starter platter consisted mostly of different creams. We were also served three (!!!) slices of bread. Mind you, the starter platter was for two people and the Brit was necessary so that you could even eat the creams, otherwise you would have had to spoon them. When we ordered bread, we were asked if two slices would be enough... Then the main course came and unfortunately there apparently was a misunderstanding when ordering and all three dishes came with a side dish that we hadn't ordered - even though we had explicitly asked for the other side dish when ordering. That can happen, but the service's handling of it was subpar. It was denied that we had ordered the other side dish. Then we were told that the other side dish could be ordered with it, but we would have to pay the extra charge for it. Plus, it would take time for the other side dish to be ready. She then disappeared into the kitchen with our plates, came back shortly afterwards and asked again what side dish we would like to have. We then said that we had now expressed our wish once again. The waitress then became loud, so much so that the other guests even turned around and accused us of being human and not letting anyone talk to us. We were left stunned. You could hear her complaining loudly from the kitchen. The second service person who walked past us just said she had nothing to do with it when we asked her about it. When the food finally came with the right side dish, it was carelessly prepared and the taste of the whole dish was rather neutral and not necessarily tasty. No comparison to before. Misunderstandings can happen, but we would have liked it to have been dealt with differently and, at least afterwards, expected an apology for the service person's behavior towards us. But this didn't come. We were happy to recommend the Acropolis, but after our last experience there, we can unfortunately no longer do so.

Not a second time... the service was good, the Christmas decorations were nice, unfortunately I didn't like the food. Price/performance wasn't right either. I only had zucchini with tzatziki. The approximately 8 zucchini slices were only a millimeter thin and the flour breading was twice as thick. It didn't taste like anything except for some paprika powder on it. I love tzatziki, but unfortunately I didn't like this one either, I doubted that it was homemade. But the chef told me it was homemade and the tastes were just different. I wouldn't have served the food to my friends. One more experience…

Large portions, taste OK. Service was quick, if a bit inattentive, but overall completely fine. The restaurant was well attended and the noise level was almost unpleasant. Prices very fair for the size of the portions. If you like the typical German Greek, you will also like the Acropolis. Therefore a recommendation...

The atmosphere is cozy but also a bit old. The service is courteous and always tries to make your stay pleasant. However, the food was very bland and monotonous and didn't really taste good. The meat was well fried, but didn't taste like anything. The potato slices weren't even salted and the pita bread was too dry. We were there for the second time and expressed our criticism the first time. Unfortunately, nothing has happened.

The two of us had dinner at 5 p.m. We made reservations in advance. The grilled pepperoni for €7.50 are currently “cheap”. At other Greeks they usually cost around 10 euros and are not as tasty. We ate the Rhodes plate and the grilled skewers with sheep cheese sauce. The gyros were okay, but the rump steak and the skewers were a poem. For me and for us currently the best Greek in Darmstadt and the surrounding area. The restaurant won't have seen the last of us!

Waren zum Mittagessen dort, nach Jahren das erste Mal wieder. Es gab eine kleine Mittagskarte mit 5 Gerichten. Leider waren die Portionen sehr klein , eher eine Kinderportion. Das Tzatziki hat sehr alt und Schimmeligel geschmeckt, Gyros war ziemlich angebrannt und Fade. Leider war es das letzte Mal das wir hier essen gehen. Preis für die Gerichte der Mittagskarte 9,90€

First the positive aspects. We got a table at short notice and the restaurant was busy. Nice atmosphere, we felt comfortable. Service very friendly, had a lot to do. The appetizer of grilled pepperoni was good. Gyros were dry and sometimes blackish crispy, but you can also like them, I don't. The large portions don't help either. Tzatziki ok but actually garlic should be in there, but also just a dollop of herb curd, had to order more to be able to eat the dry gyros. Salad delicious. Liver good, fried potatoes from the deep fryer, tasty in themselves, but then they would also be called deep fryer potatoes. You can also make fresh potatoes from the pan with the liver, then they can also be fried potatoes. Especially since others praise the fresh food. At least my fries were tasty. Then we sat in front of our finished plates for 30 minutes until they were cleared away. The Uso on the house was nice, there was one as a second helping because the bill took another 20 minutes. Conclusion: Very friendly service, a bit overwhelmed, nice ambience, food could be improved. It wasn't enough for us next time

Today we were guests at the Akropolis restaurant in Nauheim. We were greeted very warmly at the door by a young group of men. The food tasted excellent. The atmosphere is very cozy. The waitresses are very attentive and friendly!

The employees are friendly. Unfortunately there were already no fried potatoes early on Saturday evening. It was a shame because the fries weren't particularly good. The mixed starter was okay. The meat skewers were too dry. You had to order tzatziki with it, but unfortunately it wasn't included. It's a shame, we know it differently. All in all it was okay.

Unfortunately a disappointment. We were guests at the Acropolis on Saturday, a group of 12 guests, and had already made reservations. We were there at 6:30 p.m. and the food arrived at 8:15 p.m. after a long wait. Unfortunately, the dishes were carelessly prepared. Unfortunately, the starter platter for two people didn't contain what you're used to from other Greek restaurants for almost €20. There were no fried potatoes, and there was no mushroom sauce either. Incomprehensible to us, on a Saturday, when we know there is a reservation. The meat was OK. But the price performance was simply not right. The waitresses were nice but rather inattentive. There weren't enough glasses on the table, we had to get the served ones from the neighboring tables at some point, we had to ask several times to order water, and by the way, the Aperol was unfortunately absolutely thin!! We definitely won't be coming back and unfortunately we can't recommend it in any way. Food, side dishes, service, run of the mill to below average.

I think the atmosphere is beautiful, it's very cozy here. The service is great and the conditions are really friendly. The food is fresh and the portions are large. I would come again and recommend it to others

Delicious food at reasonable prices and friendly host!

The (for me) best Greek restaurant in the region! Not only is the service extremely courteous, friendly and quick - the price of the food is slightly higher (I think inflation and the associated self-perception of the pricing policy also plays a role in this) but it is always incredibly tasty! We love going here, sitting and chatting with each other or with the owners, who also like to come to the table for a quick chat and inquire about the well-being of their guests. The Greek dishes are highly recommended - whether the classic gyros or the "platter" plates. The meat was never tough or stringy. My highlight are the salads - I don't know what's in the dressing - but I can never get enough of them :-) Anyone who appreciates Greek cuisine and would like to invite their family or company can come here.

We discovered the Greek by chance. Saturday lunch, food very good. The restaurant was busy on a Saturday lunchtime. Service and price performance very good. We can definitely recommend the restaurant. By the way, the gyros are from the rotisserie, very tasty.

Familiar, cozy atmosphere and very friendly service. Food very tasty, authentic and the price-performance ratio was exceptional! Bringing our dog was no problem. We'd love to come back. If it is fully booked, the acoustics may be louder due to the spatial conditions.

We became aware of this restaurant through the gourmet block. Nice ambience and fast, extremely friendly service. Our dishes tasted very tasty, there was nothing to complain about. The prices are still okay. Personally, I found the side salad too small. We would definitely advise against the starters as the price/performance ratio is not right. The bill ended up being €10.50 for two stuffed mushrooms. Interestingly, according to another review, there were probably three pieces for the same price seven months ago, a rogue who thinks evil ;) We were not offered the usual ouzo. Not bad, I don't mind it anyway. If you read the other reviews here, the boss probably has a hard time dealing with legitimate criticism. We were lucky that we didn't have any significant complaints. We'll be happy to come back the next time we visit the region, although there will probably be no starters.

Nice restaurant with delicious food at a good price. The service was very good. We'll stop by more often. I can only recommend. In the picture I ate gyros with Metaxa sauce and gratinated with cheese. Yummy

Liver was saucier, grilled with some kind of gravy were not the burner. Squid with fries was ok, but also had a kind of gravy taste. I think the next visit will be a success

Wir waren zu viert in diesem Restaurant spontan zum Abend essen. Meine Frau und ich wollten uns einen überbackenen Schafskäse und ein Gyros Metaxa überbacken teilen. Der Chef der unsere Bestellung aufgenommen hatte, meinte das er es ungewöhnlich findet das man sich eine Portion teilt. Er würde uns lieber 2 ‚kleine Portionen‘ zubereiten. Wir dachten uns nichts dabei und sagten zu. Unser Essen kam und unsere Portion waren empfanden wir als normal groß. Wir haben beides gegessen, meine Frau natürlich nur zu Hälfte, da wie erwähnt, wir uns eigentlich eine Portion teilen wollten. Das Essen war geschmacklich nicht herausragend. Über all das konnte man hinwegsehen, bis die Rechnung kam. Das normale Gyros Metaxa kostet 17,90€. Uns wurde für die kleine Portion je 16,90€ berechnet. Auf diesen Aus der Luft gegriffenen Preis haben wir den Chef angesprochen. Das hat dem Chef leider gar nicht gefallen, er begründete: ‚Ich habe 50 Gramm von der normalen Portion abgezogen, das würde 1€ ergeben, außerdem erlaube ich das nicht das sich hier eine Portion geteilt wird.‘ Der gute Mann wurde unfreundlich, arrogant und Sprach von oben herab. Da hat wohl jemand nicht gelernt, was es bedeutet Kunden zu gewinnen oder auch was ein guter Kundenservice bedeutet. Es wäre sehr einfach gewesen freundlich eine Erklärung abzugeben oder einfach den Preis realistisch an zu passen. Stattdessen wird noch eine ‚To Go‘ Pauschale berechnet, wenn man sein nicht fertig gegessenes Essen mit nehmen möchte. Leider ist das Ego von dem kleinen man zu groß gewesen und man musste den letzten Euro aus dem Kunde raus holen. Sehr schade, das man sich selbst zurück hält und dem Chef aus Liebe zu anderen Gästen ein Fass aufmacht. Letztendlich will man den anderen Gästen nicht auch noch den Abend versauen. We were here for the first time and were pleasantly surprised by the food. We had bifteki and gyros and a mixed plate. Everything was very good :) The waitress/owners were all super friendly too. We will be back definitely.

Wir hatten unserer Getränke bestellt die kamen auch recht schnell an. Ich hatte mir einen ganz normalen Apfelsaft bestellt, bekam aber einen verdünnten Apfelsaft. Wir bestellten unsere Vorspeise und Essen. Die Vorspeise kam recht schnell. Nur der Hauptgang kam einfach nicht. Nach ca. 1 Stunde wurden wir ungeduldig und fragten wo unser Essen bleibt, die Kellnerin holte den Chef. Dieser wurde uns gegenüber sehr unfreundlich und sagte wir währen selber Schuld wir hatten schließlich noch eine Vorspeise bestellt und wir können nicht erwarten, dass unser Essen sofort kommen würde. Er gab an ,dass er schon unser Essen in der Zubereitung gesehen hätte. Also warteten wir weiterer 15 min. Inzwischen wurden Gäste , die nach uns kamen bedient. Nach den 15 min verlangten wir die Rechnung, weil wir schon mehr als 1 Stunde nach der Vorspeise warteten. Der Chef wurde daraufhin wieder sehr unfreundlich, aber gab uns die Rechnung. Wir bezahlten die 38 € (für 4 Getränke, Zaziki mit Fladenbrot, und Beilagensalate, die uns zu dem nicht vorhandenen Hauptgericht serviert wurden). Die Beilagensalate wurden dann ganz frech als vollwertiger Salatteller berechnet. Es gab keinerlei Entschuldigungen. Wir verließen, als Familie mit hungrigen Kindern nach 1 Stunde und 45 Minuten das Lokal. Sowas hatte ich noch nie.

Hungrig rein und hungrig wieder raus!!! 1,5 Stunden auf die Hauptspeise gewartet. Nach ca 15 Minuten, bekamen ich und meine Frau bereits EINE Vorspeise für uns 2! Usere Kinder wollten keine. Kurz danach der Beilagen Salat. Als dann wir nach unseren Essen Fragten, was das Problem sei, holte die nette Bedienung ihren Chef. Ich Fragte erneut wie es sei kann, dass die zwei Nachbarns Tische, die nach uns kamen, mit ihrem essen bereits fertig waren. Die Bestellung war ja schließlich über eine Stunde her. Er erklärte uns, da wir bereits eine Vorspeise hatten, hätten wir kein anrecht auch auf eine schnelle Zubereitung der Hauptspeise. Aber er hätte bereits die Speisen auf den Teller gesehen, sie werden gleich geliefert. Nach nochmalige 20 verlangte ich die Rechnung. So lieb und nett auch die Bedienung sein mag, wenn der Chef mit solchen Situationen nicht umgehen kann und unfreundlich wird, wirkt dich das auf das Gesamtbild aus . Sicher kann es mal länger dauern, aber wichtig ist wie man damit umgeht! Kundenfreundlichkeit findet man hier nichteinmal im Kleingedruckten. Übrigens... für einen Beilagensalat 4,50€ zu verlangen ist meine Meinung nach schon etwas dreist.

Essen war ok, die Salatblätter waren aber laut ihrem Aussehen einige Tage alt, ebenso die Scheibe Orange als Dekoration auf meinem Teller. Die Preise sind für die Portionen zu hoch aus meiner Sicht. Ebenso ist es interessant dass wenn man Essen im Menü bestellt die Portion anscheinend klener sein soll als einzeln bestellt🤦🏻‍♂️. Ebenso roch es im Lokal nicht sehr appetitlich, was daran liegen könnte dass es zum Zeitpunkt meines Besuches (12 Uhr) nur Renter im Lokal gab. Alles in allem nicht wirklich zu empfehlen

Es war lecker, allerdings recht teuer. Es gab noch einen kleinen saöatteller dazu und zum Abschluss den obligatorischen Ouzo. Man kann ihr gut Essen gehen, es ist aber nir ein Standard-Grieche. Die Parkplätze unter dem "Carport", sind durch die davor stehenden Pflanzkübel nicht ideal nutzbar.

Jetz neu im aktuellen Schlemmerblock. Gute Portionen die satt machen. Der Service war gut und zum Glück konnten wir vor der 25 köpfigen Gruppe bestellen die scheinbar ihre Weihnachtsfeier dort hatte. Zum Schluss gab es noch einen Uozo. Den Tisch hatten wir 1 Tag vorher telefonisch reserviert.

Wir waren zum Essen nach einem langen Spieltag da. Super netter Service und angenehme Ambiente! Das wichtigste ist aber, das Essen war sehr gut!!! Lecker Salat und Schafskäse als Vorspeise und dann Calamari Ringe ... Mega! Am Ende gab es noch ein Ouzo aufs Haus :) Nach dem nächsten Spieltag, sind wir sicher wieder hier!

Kann man sehr lecker griechisch essen. War nicht das letzte Mal

Wir waren gestern, 09.08.23 zu viert dort zum Abendessen. Wir hatten 4 Vorspeisen und 4 Hauptgerichte und natürlich Getränke. Die Hauptgerichte waren ok, Geschmacklich ist noch Luft nach oben, aber alles in allen bei den Hauptgerichten ok. Die Vorspeisen haben sehr sehr lange gedauert und sind im Vergleich zu den Hauptgerichten viel zu teuer bzw. für den hohen Preis zu klein. Beispiele: Gefüllte Champignons, mit Schafskäse und Pikanter Sauce 10,50 €. Es kamen 3 gefüllte Champignos mit etwas Schafskäse. Die Pikante Sauce war sehr lecker. Aber 3 Pilze für 10,50 € ist absolut zu viel. Gebackener Schafskäse (Feta), mit Knoblauch und Peperoni 10,50 € Es kam ein Schafskäse in einer Steinschale überbacken. Diese Scheibe Schafskäse war sehr dünn. Ich habe Sie nicht gemessen aber es war kein cm. (Ich esse das immer beim Griechen, sonst immer so 7,90 oder 8,90 und mindestens doppelt so dick die Scheibe Schafskäse) Alles in allem man kann hier Essen und wir satt. Es ist auch nicht schlecht. Nur für den Preis erwarte ich etwas mehr. Im Lokal selber ist es sehr laut. Schon fast grenzwertig. Das Personal ist zwar sehr freundlichen aber nicht wirklich aufmerksam. Wir hatten 2 leer Gläser und die 2 jungen Damen sind bestimmt 4-5 mal am Tisch vorbei. Wir mußten auch 3 mal winken bis jemand kam.

Sehr nette Bedienung. Essen war sehr lecker und sehr reichlich. Die Preise sind normal. Wurden schnell bedient und das Essen kam sehr zügig. Wir sind mit Schlemmerblock hier gewesen.

Essen mittags zum empfehle, frisch gemacht und sehr schnell. Weiter zu empfehlen.

Wir waren am 25.6.2023 da. Es hat uns gut gefallen. Das Essen: Gyros/Metaxa im Steintopf war lecker wie auch der Nudelreis und die Vorspeise. Obwohl die Küche später schon geschlossen hatte haben wir noch ein tolles Eis bekommen. Wir waren zufrieden und kommen wieder. LG Ecki und Kevin

Wir waren in einer Gruppe dort und allen hat es gut geschmeckt. Die Bedienung war sehr freundlich und nicht aufdringlich. Drinnen sitzt man schön auch wenn der Raum relativ groß ist.

Große Portionen, gutes Essen und nette Bedienung. Das Restaurant war sehr gut besucht, dadurch war es ziemlich laut aber es ging noch gerade so. Das Ambiente ist sehr gemütlich aber könnte eine kleine Renovierung gebrauchen.

Der Besuch bei Akropolis war mehr als enttäuschend. Das Seezungenfilet (16,90 €) bestand aus 2 vertrockneten Teilen, die Bratkartoffeln waren Kartoffelscheiben aus der Fritteuse und der Metaxaspieß (14,90 €) bestand aus zähem Fleisch. So macht ein Restaurantbesuch wirklich keinen Spaß. Wir kommen bestimmt nicht wieder!

Ambiente: Die Einrichtung wirkt anfänglich wie die Überreste einer Sportlerkneipe. Aber wenn man genau hinsieht, merkt man, dass es wirklich gemütlich ist. Schön ist die Aufteilung der Tische. Ein wenig Griechen-Kitsch darf auch nicht fehlen. Und vor allem macht es das Personal besonders. Hier kann sich jeder wohlfühlen. Essen: Tolles griechisches Essen. Die kleine Vorspeisenkarte ist perfekt. Einfach mal einen Mix von allem bestellen und dann noch einen Gyros. Dann fühlt man sich wie im Urlaub. Die Qualität der Speisen ist wirklich gut. Yamas! Personal: als wir dort waren, wurden wir von zwei sehr freundlichen Damen bedient. Sicherlich wartete man anfänglich ein wenig auf die Getränke. Aber bei einem vollen Haus ist das ok. Das Essen kam zeitlich perfekt. Alles wie bestellt. Gute Koordination mit der Küche. Auch Hinweise von den Gästen wurden freundlich berücksichtigt. Preise: für Menge und Qualität toll. Fazit: für Paare, Familien und Gruppen gut geeignet. Vor dem Haus gibt es ein paar Parkplätze. Gerne wieder!
