Restaurant Achalm in Reutlingen

Food is ok, nothing that blows me away, but the service is subpar. A haphazard staff running around like chickens looking for tables to serve. If you If you have to wait 40 minutes for a piece of cake, then good night. With 6 occupied tables and two waiters, I expected more. But it actually wasn't the first time like this. It's a shame, it didn't work this time either. Therefore never again.

Wir waren bei einem der ersten Sonnentage im März zunächst auf der Terrasse und haben die Frühlings Sonne genossen. Der Service war sehr aufmerksam, die angebotenen Weine lecker und preislich im Rahmen. Zum Essen ging es in den Innenbereich. Auch hier ein sehr guter Service und: das Essen hat alle vier sehr angenehm überrascht. Sowohl die Qualität der verwendeten Produkte als auch die Zubereitung waren tadellos. Nachdem wir vor einigen Jahren mehrmals recht enttäuscht waren, werden wir die Achalm gerne wieder besuchen. Es scheint sich einiges geändert zu haben

I would like to express my absolute enthusiasm for Toschi, the restaurant manager at the Achalmhotel. On our first visit we were greeted with exceptional friendliness and professionalism. Toschi manages to create a wonderful atmosphere in which every guest immediately feels at home. His service is simply outstanding - he responds to individual requests, is always attentive and ensures that you feel completely pampered. His extensive knowledge of the menu and wine selection is also impressive. The quality of the food has decreased significantly. Taste down, prices up. All main courses were served carelessly on one plate like in a canteen. Reservation agreements were not kept. One more location for RT is no longer recommended.

Typical problem: The great location on the mountain with a view means that the quality of the kitchen is of secondary importance. Unfortunately, all the dishes I've had here so far have been absolutely below average. Unwilling staff who simply ignore guests' requests. — The atmosphere is more like a “community center” than a restaurant.

Unfortunately, the food overall was a disappointment. From start to finish the dishes were consistently bland and tasteless. The potato soup tasted almost exclusively of cream, and the Flädlesuppe was surprisingly tasteless for a beef broth. The sausage salad was extremely oily and poorly seasoned. With additional vinegar we were able to at least improve the taste a little. The chestnut dumplings were also extremely disappointing and hardly tasted like anything. Overall the food lacked creativity and quality. For a Swabian restaurant in this price range it is absolutely unacceptable that the spaetzle comes out of a package. In addition, dishes were simply forgotten, for example the salad that should have been served with the cheese spaetzle. Speaking of cheese spaetzle: These don't deserve their name - "cheese pampe" is more accurate. We paid €160 for 4 people. In our opinion, this restaurant is not recommended at all, as there are much better and more authentic alternatives in the region. Unfortunately, the view cannot make up for the numerous shortcomings. The service was okay, unfortunately no one ever asked for new drinks or whether the mistakes could be corrected. The ambience of the restaurant was quite nice, but unfortunately we felt a bit like we were in a retirement home canteen, but in the end that's a matter of taste.

Just wonderful there. Been there several times, the staff is super friendly, nice and polite. The food is delicious and the view when you sit by the window is just wow! I like coming there.

As part of our hotel stay, we were allowed to have dinner in the restaurant. The food was beautifully prepared and well seasoned and arrived quickly after we ordered. The staff were in an infectiously good mood and were very accommodating.

This restaurant used to be much better. Unfortunately, the quality of the food as well as the ambience and service have deteriorated significantly. At the same time, prices have risen enormously, as if you were dining in a top restaurant. But the food is either presented carelessly, like in a school cafeteria, or has a complete lack of taste. You often leave the restaurant with the feeling that you could have cooked many times more at home for 40 euros. Simple food at completely exorbitant prices. The restaurant has completely lost its charm.

At the Achalm restaurant in Reutlingen, the dish fettuccine was ordered with creamy leaf spinach, parmesan and glazed chestnuts. Unfortunately it was served without the advertised leaf spinach. After the service was informed, the spinach leaves were brought separately on a plate. However, this subsequent correction was not a satisfactory solution - an apology and appropriate handling of the error would have been more appropriate. Additionally, the dish was very heavy and left an unpleasant feeling in the stomach. Overall, the experience did not live up to expectations in terms of either the quality of the food or the service. A disappointing visit, despite the appealing ambience.

A wonderful view of Reutlingen, Pfullingen and Eningen as well as the Albtrauf. The service is great.

The service is very good as is the food. The furnishings are a bit old-fashioned and staid. The associated hotel is much more attractive. The dessert menus urgently need to be replaced, the prices are pasted over and they are already falling apart.

Delicious food, friendly staff, great view... that's all you need

We dared to put two chairs at a small table and were urgently asked to sit in the shade. Apparently the small table was not designed for this. We didn't really understand the reasons. When we sat in the shade where we didn't want to sit, other people sat down at this small table, also with two additional chairs. The service includes making it possible for everyone to sit wherever they want. That's why I unfortunately have to rate the service a little worse

Food and service very good, beautiful view, highly recommended

Despite reservations, we only got an uncomfortable place for the three of us. All three of us ordered turkey schnitzel with spaetzle and a side salad based on the waiter's recommendation. When I paid I was negatively surprised: wheat beer was over 5 euros, 0.75l mineral water was over 7 euros and the small side salad was 7.30 euros. I felt really left out.

Typical German / Swabian cuisine. Sensational quality, consistently at a TOP level. Ideal for companies - but also family celebrations. Nevertheless, it is always suitable for spontaneous trips over the Achalm. Great staff, beautiful view.

Wir hatten zwei Zimmer und ein Abendessen reserviert, ein Zimmer wurde aber bei der Reservierung vergessen. Die Reception war freundlich. Die Zimmer (oberster Stock) haben eine tolle Aussicht, ruhig und die Grösse passt. Die Matratzen sind etwas weich, das Bad war sauber (Gesichtstücher waren leer) Für das Abendessen (draussen unter dem Kastanienbaum) war der Tisch ebenfalls nicht reserviert. Unsere Bedienung war sehr freundlich, aber es scheint einen Personalmangel zu geben. Der Sekt war gut gekühlt, die Weinkarte ist etwas sehr klein und bescheiden. Der Salat war gut, der Burger kalt und das Schnitzel fettig und die Pommes weich. Die Dessertkarte ist ebenfalls einfach. Die Preise sind angepasst. Das Frühstüch ist reichlich, aber es gab nur eine !! Kaffeemaschine (das Hotel war fast ausgebucht). Es gibt nur einen Lift im Hotel. Den Lift am Morgen zu benützen ist sinnlos, er ist dauerbesetzt oder belegt vom Putzpersonal. Die Wellnessgäste in ihren Bademänteln sind auch eine Plage. Die Lage des Hotels ist ziemlich gut, aber ansonsten können wir es wegen zu vielen Unzulänglichkeiten nicht empfehlen.

We have been coming to this beautifully located restaurant with a beautiful view for a very long time. The service is ALWAYS very good and so is the food. We've never had anything to complain about. Price/performance is also very good here. Please keep it up!

Je sais que l'Allemagne n'est pas reconnue pour sa gastronomie, mais là, au vu des tarifs, je m'attendais à autre chose. La bière quant à elle, elle était très bonne.

Delicious food with the best view and great service. We sat outside on the terrace, which unfortunately cannot be reserved, which means that traveling there always involves the risk of not getting a table. Exciting selection of dishes. But also coffee and cake. Shortly beforehand, there is also the option to recharge your e-bike in the parking lot. Practical :-) The service was extremely attentive. If the tables had a tablecloth or something similar, the ambience would also be perfect.

Great experience at the Achalm Restaurant I was at Achalm Restaurant with customers and we had a great time. On the beautiful terrace in the best weather we had a wonderful view over Reutlingen. The staff and restaurant management were very friendly and professional. My customers and I were thrilled by the delicious food and the excellent service. A big compliment to the kitchen and the whole team – we would love to come back!

The location is fantastic, you have a great view of the Swabian Alb and you can sit beautifully under umbrellas and trees. The food prices are very high and do not match the quality of the food. Had various game fish with noodles and saffron sauce. The fish were OK (although not outstanding), but the sauce for the noodles was so bland - that just doesn't fit. My companion's vegetarian dish was also rather boring (zucchini with hummus filling). The service is very friendly, but can't give good advice on the dishes. Conclusion: Recommended when the weather is nice, I wouldn't come back myself.

Very good, location and surroundings

Nice ambience, good food. Unfortunately that was it. Restaurant manager rude and rude. As a group, the staff put us in the wrong place and were given drinks without asking. After the error became known, we were treated like a disobedient school class in the 80s. We had to pay for drinks that we didn't order, errors in billing by the restaurant were at the expense of our group members. Absolutely not recommended!

Friends invited on Sunday, June 15th. The food and ambience were very nicely presented. But the food was already cold, the asparagus was too hard and tasteless. It didn't come for everyone at the same time. Service initially ran away quickly before everyone could order and came too rarely, only when I started to clear the table... even though it wasn't too full. Only recommended for coffee, cake and a view.

Without the bread ordered separately the item would have been inedible. Neutral: The two medium-sized schnitzels from Swabian country pig were tender and aromatic. Unfortunately the breading tasted a bit like old fat. The fries were standard. The size of the portion could have been a little larger for EUR 22.50, at least a small side salad in my opinion. this includes. The rhubarb spritzer is excellent! Bottom line: Only conditionally recommended. An institution in this prominent location should strive for better chefs!

Positiv: Gepflegtes, weitläufiges Ambiente mit hervorragender Aussicht ins Reutlinger Tal. Sehr freundliche und umsichtige Bedienung, welche das Prinzip "der Gast ist König" voll verstanden hat. Negativ: Das Essen bewegt sich leider nur auf mittelmäßigem Niveau. Die Spargelcreme-Suppe war eine wässrige, nach saurer Milch schmeckende, lauwarme Plörre, in der für EUR 8,50 drei harte Stückchen Spargel umherschwammen. Ohne das separat georderte Brot wäre die Sache ungenießbar gewesen. Neutral: Die zwei mittelgroßen Schnitzel vom Schwäbischen Landschwein waren zart und aromatisch. Leider schmeckte die Panade etwas nach altem Fett. Die Pommes waren Standard. Die Größe der Portion hätte für EUR 22,50 etwas größer ausfallen dürfen, zumindest hätte ein kleiner Beilagensalat m.M.n. dazu gehört. Der Rhabarber-Schorle ist exzellent! Unterm Strich: Nur bedingt empfehlenswert. Eine Institution in dieser herausragenden Lage sollte sich um bessere Köche bemühen!

Went there with a small child and were very positively surprised by the extremely nice and child-friendly service. We felt very comfortable and welcome. The food was also great. Absolute recommendation.

Today we went back to the Achalm after a long time to get something to eat. From the greeting, from the first step into the restaurant to the end, it was a complete disaster. The dish, asparagus with various meat, was cold and tasteless. The interior is so old-fashioned, as are the staff's clothes. One waiter was so loud and conspicuous that it just wasn't nice. 8 waiters with their ugly burgundy shirts. Some belts with wallets tied around them. Like the conductors on the German railway. One more important than the other. We were served by 5 different waiters. The first question…we were barely sitting. Can I put a bottle of water in the middle for you? I'm sorry, what ?!?! 6 asparagus with 4-5 really cold potatoes, a little hollandaise sauce and a small piece of meat 37€. Wow. That was the worst thing that ever happened to us. Everything doesn't always have to be perfect. There can always be something wrong. But that's just bad. And you feel ripped off. Don't you have a service line? Who has things somewhat under control/view? Or a restaurant manager? How can you with a clear conscience charge so much money for such inferior service + food. Or according to the motto...take whatever you can. If you did your job and your work with love and passion, something like this would never happen. Take a close look at your waiters... Is this still contemporary? One of them was wearing trousers, so leggings would have been more appropriate. And at regular intervals people gathered at the bar to chat. There was nothing going on either. Take a look around what others are doing. Who really deserve their price. Because the level and quality are right. What you deliver there is district league level. Everything would fit there. Never again….

I have known the restaurant for a very long time. The food is still very good. There is absolutely nothing wrong with the service either, but the restaurant should urgently go back to the old portion size. What is now a normal portion was once a senior portion.

We experienced such nice service. 5 stars for the staff👍 3-course menu as part of the hotel package was super tasty and brought to the table hot. We'll definitely be back!

Fantastic location with great views, spacious rooms, enough space for everyone. Service extremely friendly and very funny, boss worked himself and was also extremely friendly. Prices are not very cheap but completely normal for current conditions. Without a starter or dessert, but also cheaper, portions so large that everyone should be full.

Had dinner at Easter. It was completely okay but really nothing special. The view is of course fantastic. Prices on the menu were significantly more expensive than what you read online. The children's schnitzel was frozen and not good, everything else was completely okay. I found it far too expensive. Five adults and a child cost almost €400. No alcoholic drinks were consumed.

We were greeted very friendly and the service was excellent. Due to an injury, my daughter could only eat with one hand and everything was cut so that she could eat without any problems. As always, the food was extremely tasty and the icing on the cake... what a beautiful view. Thank you very much for this wonderful evening.

Wir waren zum Mittagessen und positiv überrascht. Die Qualität der Speisen war sehr gut. Die Karte hat eine ausreichende Auswahl. Der Service ist freundlich. Angenehm ist das moderne Ambiente, allerdings ist für Business. Gespräche der Abstand der Tische zu eng.

We went there for dinner today (8 people). The turkey schnitzels (4 pieces) were still bloody at our table and at the next table, so they weren't cooked through, so you couldn't eat them. After we complained to the waiter, he said, “Putin has turned off the gas tap.” There wasn't even an apology or a question about whether they should bring us other schnitzels. So we couldn't eat at least half of the schnitzels. Price-performance ratio absolutely not acceptable. So one star, not recommended.

I give the ‘Restaurant Achalm’ in Reutlingen 3 stars, a downgrade from the previously easily earned 5 stars. I was a regular guest and even got married here, but a lot has changed since Corona. The quality of the food no longer corresponds to the higher prices. That's a shame, because the service and ambience are still top and save the restaurant from a lower rating. Even simple dishes like schnitzel with fries are now disappointing. The schnitzel tasted like ready-made food, and there were so few fries that our waiter immediately apologized and brought more without us complaining. On another visit, the onion roast was below average for its price. The ambience is still nice, especially in summer, but if you're looking for good food you might want to go elsewhere. This review is intended to be harsh but hopeful, an impetus for the restaurant to return to its previous high quality. I hope this feedback is understood as it is intended - not as a scolding, but as a suggestion for improvement.

Everything was great, good quality, very good food, great atmosphere, very friendly staff

We were looking forward to a nice and good meal in the Achalm Restaurant on the occasion of a birthday. I can only describe the food I was served as follows. As a starter I ordered an “apple-celery-coconut cream soup with puffed honey corn (€8.90)” which sounded very good. What I got was a watery, milk-colored liquid that had distant hints of coconut and celery. Accordingly, completely tasteless. There was still hope for the main course: Braised orange chicory with green pepper Fried potato dumplings in sesame (€22.30)". I received two fried, tasteless chicory halves plus a handful of dry, fried/fried gnocchi (nicely described as potato dumplings) that were almost impossible to eat. The main course topped the starter in a negative sense . I have to admit that I can't remember ever being served such poor and carelessly served food. I would be deeply embarrassed if I offered such food to my guests in private. I didn't mention this matter to the waiter personally because I didn't want to further spoil my wife's evening with "discussions". The rating explicitly refers to the food presented. The service was friendly and professional. All in all, it's a shame because I remembered the "Achalm" much better. It's not a "simple" village pub - although there would probably have been better food there. Sorry, I would have preferred to write a positive review.

Unglaublich gutes Essen und Desserts. Sind zwar keine großen Portionen und der Preis ist etwas hoch, aber dennoch für die Qualität angemessen! Der Service ist noch besser!!! Liebe, zuvorkommende und lustige Kellner die ein saftiges Trinkgeld verdienen. Man wir viel Geld los, aber es lohnt sich auch allemal. Wir werden wiederkommen! Danke vielmals!

Alles professionell bedient ,es war viel los, aber alle Mitarbeiter Innen waren freundlich und flott. Der Burger war mal etwas anderes und mit sehr guten Zutaten.

Auf Nachfrage wurde gestern Abend ein tolles Lammfleischgericht gezaubert. Super lecker, super Service ! Zu einem alten Schafstall :) gehört regionales, schwäbisches Lammfleisch auf die Speisekarte. Biosphärenreservat, Wachholderweide, Landschaftspflege, Achalm-Lamm. Ein Konzept, ein Alleinstellungsmerkmal wie es besser nicht sein kann.

Excellent food and location. One of our favorite places to go. Just wish they would put less dressing in the salad. It’s literally swimming is oil and vinegar.

Eines meiner Lieblingsrestaurants, gute Qualität mit toller Terrasse mit schöner Aussicht. Am 22.10.23 extra 40 km gefahren um auf der Terrasee bei tollstem Herbstsonnenschein und 18 grad im Schatten, den Nachmittagskaffe zu geniessen...doch die große Entäuschung, ...Terrasse war geschlossen, man musste reinsitzen, dann waren noch die Jalousien bis zum Boden runtergelassen.... was denkt sich nur der Chef, viele sind gleich wieder gegangen. Es war 15 uhr und Kellner waren auch genug da. Die Leute kommen wegen der Aussicht!

Ein Restaurant das schon durch seine Lage und die großartige Aussicht einen Besuch wert ist. Dazu das Interieur die gute Küche und das freundliche Personal, ergibt eine sehr angenehme Atmosphäre, in der man sich sehr wohlfühlt.

Das Achalm Restaurant bietet sehr leckeres Essen an. Auf der Terrasse kann man über ganz Reutlingen schauen. Sehr empfehlenswert. Eine Tischreservierung sollte auf jeden Fall getätigt werden.

Tolles Essen, endlich mal kein altmodischer Petersilienrand, Gargrad (Lamm) auf den Punkt. Service freundlich, aber sehr nüchtern. Wenn man sich einen Restaurantleiter leistet, sollte der mehr Gästekontakt haben als nur den Tisch zuzuweisen. Ambiente sehr langweilig, nicht gemütlich. Bistrolook der 90er. Service und Ambiente werden dem super Essen nicht gerecht. Schade. (Hab selbst über 20 Jahre Gastro-Erfahrung)

Wir kommen seit Jahren hierher, es ist einfach wunderbar. Oft kommen wir zu Geburtstagsfeiern oder auch zum Nachtdinner. Ausgezeichneter Service alle sind freundlich und auch die Restaurantleiter sind sehr zuvorkommend und für jeden Wunsch offen! Immer wieder gern.

Leider stimmt das Preis-/Leistungsverhältnis nicht, 1 Person, Suppe, Hauptgericht, 1 Getränk, Eur 50.-, da muss das Essen schon sehr gut sein, leider ist es nur mittelmässig, auch die Servicequalität passt nicht zum Preisniveau, und nur über das recht schöne Ambiente ust das nicht zu rechtfertigen, für den Preis habe ich auch in letzter Zeit deutlich besser gegessen

Wir waren letzte Woche am Dienstag Abend mit 6 Personen zum Abendessen dort. Die Vorspeisen konnten ebenso wie die Hauptgänge überzeugen. Teuer aber gut. Eine Reservierung is auf jeden Fall zu empfehlen

Haben heute Geburtstag im Achalm Restaurant gefeiert. Perfekter, zuvorkommender, höflicher Service - großes Lob an unseren Kellner Sascha und das gesamte Team! Die Qualität der Gerichte ist super, alles wird heiß serviert und schmeckt sehr gut. Wir kommen immer wieder gerne. Vielen Dank! ☺️

Wir hatten einen tollen Abend im Restaurant, sehr nettes, zuvorkommendes Servicepersonal. Alle Speisen waren super lecker. Ich kann dieses Lokal nur jedem weiterempfehlen der Wert auf Qualität legt. Immer wieder gerne:-)

Das Achalm Restaurant in Reutlingen hat mich begeistert. Besonders freut es mich, dass Toschi als Restaurantleiter dort tätig ist. Jeder, der Toschi kennt, weiß, welchen unschätzbaren Wert er dem Achalm Restaurant verleiht. Mit seiner außergewöhnlichen Leistung sorgt er für einen exzellenten Service und ein unvergessliches Erlebnis. Seine herzliche Begrüßung und sein persönlicher Umgang mit den Gästen schaffen eine einladende Atmosphäre. Die atemberaubende Aussicht auf Reutlingen und die umliegende Landschaft bilden eine wunderbare Kulisse für jeden Anlass. Die raffinierte Küche des Achalm Restaurants verwöhnt mit sorgfältig zubereiteten Gerichten, bei denen Qualität und Kreativität im Vordergrund stehen. Wir haben auf der Achalm unsere Hochzeit im Turmzimmer gefeiert. Von der Vorbesprechung bis hin zum Essen und dem Service kann man das Restaurant absolut weiterempfehlen. Top Service, gutes Essen und ein spektakulärer Ausblick - das Preis-/Leistungsverhältnis ist auch in Ordnung! Danke nochmal an das Achalm-Team für den schönen Tag.

Ich hätte bei den klassischen Maultaschen bleiben sollen. Die Maultaschentriologie war geschmacklich eine große Enttäuschung und der Preis war nicht angemessen. Sollte man von der Karte nehmen!
