Very friendly staff. Delicious. My favorite...garlic chili sauce...

The insect snack is recommended....but it should perhaps be seasoned in advance (such as peanuts), because that way they are still delicious...and that's how I know it from Vietnam and Cambodia.

It was really great. For vegetarians, a large selection of vegetables, pasta, etc. The lemonades are also highly recommended!

As always, we enjoyed an unforgettable evening in our favorite restaurant, ingredients always fresh, great selection, great service staff, it's like coming home, we feel super comfortable

It's wonderful how Mongos has developed further. A huge vegan selection of vegetables, legumes, nuts and seeds. The sauces are classics. Unfortunately, the sharpness was different from the description. But otherwise very good. A little salty. Overall quite loud (like Alex, Sausalitos). It wasn't until after 9:30 p.m. that people could talk in peace. Prices are very reasonable. Thanks for the good cuisine! Luckily there is only a little meat, some still exotic crocodile, llama and kangaroo. I don't want to imagine the husbandry and slaughter.

Mongolian buffet in a class of its own. Very attentive staff, food high quality and fresh. Delicious. The atmosphere is chic. Very cozy. We were there for brunch at Easter and at brunch there are appetizers, soups and dessert, including fresh waffles. If you don't want to eat that much, you can also charge by the gram, so you don't have to take the big buffet. Always an experience.

In fact, it used to be much, much better! What happened here, I seriously asked myself! But here is a brief summary of my last visit: The food: Was quite good, but the selection was much smaller than a few years ago. No more appetizers. Dessert from the buffet average. That's why I ordered this separately. Competitors are definitely more versatile. The service: From quite okay to well. What particularly annoyed me was that I clearly said that please round up your tip to €45. Instead, €47 was typed in. Unfortunately I noticed it too late... The gentleman at the counter where you leave the bowls for cooking snapped at me because I put the bowl on the scales. "This is not for guests!" But it wasn't there anywhere. Also: the sound makes the music! Coffee with oat milk is €0.50 more expensive. Rice is only available upon request and for an additional charge if you choose the “per gram” variant. Ambience: My companion was the only special thing in the room, otherwise not an outstanding location. But on average it was okay. Price-performance: Overall, it's a bit too expensive. The service needs to be improved!

Unfortunately we didn't like it at all. We were there for Easter brunch, which was widely announced. There were no specials at all, except Easter eggs and cheap champagne. Drinks not included and the selection of food is very limited. The food was okay, but I've eaten much better. I find it cheeky to charge 37 euros per person for this!

If you like something unusual and want to eat something different than schnitzel with fries, this is the right place for you. Various vegetables, types of fish and other seafood, as well as unusual types of meat that you can't get in normal restaurants. You put everything together yourself and then the whole thing is prepared fresh on the open roasting plate. To do this you choose a sauce, from sweet to hot. Gastronomy experience for affordable money. I can only recommend. I come here several times a year and don't want to miss it. You can park at Porsche-Platz if there is nothing left on the street. Just try it out yourself.

Always nice here. It's cozy and you can have a good chat. Perfect for a dinner with friends. However, you have to expect 30-40 euros per person. But the buffet is always something very special and super tasty.

For many years there has been high quality, good service and a nice atmosphere here! The sauces have been dosed more generously for some time now, which makes the great combinations even tastier. To the thief who stole 100 euros from my wallet in my jacket: You didn't spoil my evening, but you should still be ashamed of yourself!

We had the pleasure of visiting Mongos in Essen and were completely thrilled. The food was incredibly delicious and the service was perfect. We went there because we were staying with a couple who were friends of ours nearby and it was a fantastic experience to see everything like it used to be. Unfortunately, Mongos no longer exists in our hometown of Münster, but it was wonderful to revive these memories. We enjoyed every moment and can only warmly recommend Mongos in Essen!

Originally it was a 2 star review. Now only 1 star after the restaurant's response. If you didn't like the food in the restaurant, you can rate the food as not tasty. It has nothing to do with a “concept”. Because in a normal Chinese restaurant e.g. B., where all you can eat is offered, different things are prepared with different sauces and we even tasted it better there than here. Original review: We were there and unfortunately very disappointed with the food. Everything is fried together in a wild mix and tastes just salty and all the same with certain sauces. And then there are the very high prices.

Price/performance isn't quite right for me. The all-you-can-eat menu is not worth it if you have a “normal” appetite. The ambience (visually) is convincing, but unfortunately it is really very narrow there and you sit very close to other tables. The volume is really immense when the store is full. There is a good selection of drinks and food that is not "all you can eat" Of course, a selection of insects that can be ordered in appetizer portions particularly stands out. Parking is easy nearby. The staff and chefs are really nice and have a smile despite the stress.

Well-known for years and, if I remember correctly, even the first restaurant with the "Mongolian Grill". Later often copied by almost all Chinese restaurants. Had the buffet and it was delicious. The offer was actually a bit clear, but the quality was good. We had to wait quite a long time for the individual portions, which is probably a bit of a calculation because then you drink more. I can't say what it looks like with plated meals. All in all, the evening was very nice, even if the concept can now be found almost everywhere, at cheaper prices.

There were two of us, but we had booked the table in advance. We were well received and had the choice between two tables. The buffet was great as always with great vegetables, meat and fish. Before. - and dessert. We each had two long drinks (alcoholic and non-alcoholic) and coffee at the end. With tip 100€. Small drawback, there is no disabled toilet. The smell in the men's toilets also needs improvement. There is nothing wrong with the cleanliness. We had a nice time at Mongos, the service was very friendly and good

Actually a great restaurant in terms of concept, ambience and cuisine! Unfortunately, time slots were introduced at some point, which completely put me off visiting. I haven't gone there since then, I don't support such customer unfriendliness

Years ago I was in Bochum at Mongos and after it closed I was really looking forward to there being a Mongos in Essen. Unfortunately, I have to say, I have never been so disappointed and angry. It's super uncomfortable and for the hefty price, the buffet and selection is an absolute disgrace. Everything tastes stale. There is no dessert corner and no bread and dip area like there used to be in Bochum. The staff also didn't bring the drinks we ordered and the mood was high long before the store closed. Very bad restaurant I have to say...

Essen 5 Sterne Service 5 Sterne Ambiente 2 Sterne -> 4 Sterne / Gut Das Essen war wirklich sehr gut. Genügend Auswahl, so das man nicht erschlagen wird. Es war perfekt zubereitet. Der Nachtisch war sehr lecker. Der Service super nett und zuvorkommend. Schnelle Bedienung und der Kellner "ließt von den Augen ab" wenn man ihn rufen möchte. Alles perfekt im Blick. Das Ambiente... ja... sagen wir so, wir waren zu zweit und haben den Tisch "neben" uns schnell kennengelernt. Die Tische stehen 30 cm breit auseinander. Gespräche kann man sehr gut mithören und auch von dem Teller des nachbartisches essen wäre kein Problem. Um durch die Lücken zu kommen, benötigt man einen kleinen Hintern. Im grossen und ganzen viele Plätze auf zu engem Raum. Schade. Aber am Ende, 4 Sterne für das Essen und den Service. Die Preise sind ok. Entweder man lässt das Essen wiegen oder frisst sich voll. :-)

Kleines Buffet mit eher wenig Auswahl (kann man nicht mit Asia buffet restaurants vergleichen), dafür aber top Qualität der Zutaten. Verschiedene Fischsorten, scampis, Tintenfisch. Mehrere Fleischsorten. Schwein,Rind, Geflügel, Büffel, Strauß, Känguru uvm. Alles wird frisch zubereitet und an den Tisch gebracht. Kaum Wartezeit. Einfach nur himmlisch vom Geschmack. Der Service ist auch toll. Die Kellner sehr aufmerksam und super nett und witzig zu Kindern. Die Preise, für diese Qualität, absolut in Ordnung. Auch das Ambiente ist toll und nicht zu überfüllt, sodass man am Buffet Schlange stehen müsste. Wir kommen gerne immer wieder. Top!

Sehr leckeres Essen, wir waren alle sehr zufrieden. Die Auswahl an Produkten ist toll und das man sich wirklich alles selbst zusammenstellen kann. Es gibt eine sehr gute Auswahl an verschiedenen Marinaden. Die Kellner waren sehr nett und haben uns alles erklärt. Alles in allem top Lokal.

Haben spontan dort gegessen, ich zum ersten Mal. Es war ein freundliches Ambiente und trotz full House - Dezember/Weihnachtsfeiern - hat es sich gut im Lokal verteilt. Wir würden freundlich bedient und beraten und gut im Blick behalten. Getränke gab es zügig. Die Marinaden sind sehr lecker und die Zutaten am Buffet frisch.

Wir sind zu Besuch in Essen und durch zufall hier her, es war etwas anderes/neues und doch sehr interessantes unf leckeres Restaursnt. Das Personal war super freundlich, man hat sich sehr wohl gefühlt. Ich fand das auch sehr toll,das man sein Essen roh selber zusammenstellen konnte wie man möchte unf auch die Soße je nach laune wechseln konnte, es wurde sehr heiss und doch mega schnell gut durch Serviert. Einzige nachteil: die Lautstärke Sollten wir aber irgendwann nochmals kommen, würden wir da immer gerne wieder hin

Gemütliches Restaurant mit ausgefallenen Essenesorten. Man kann sich seine Zutaten selbst aussuchen, ob Marinade, Gemüse oder Fleischsorten, und bekommt es am Tisch serviert. Die Zutaten waren frisch und lecker. Das Personal war sehr freundlich und zuvorkommend. Leider riecht es im Restaurant sehr stark nach Essen, weil die Küche mitten im Restaurant ist - was ja aber Sinn und Konzept von Mongos ist. Ich war zufrieden und würde gerne wieder kommen.

Durch die Vielzahl an Möglichkeiten sein Gericht zubereiten zu lassen, kann man immer wieder neue Sachen ausprobieren und isst nicht immer wieder das gleiche. Super lecker, top Service und preislich ist es auch für Studenten, wie mich, gut bezahlbar. Klare Empfehlung!

Good concept. Behaviour was good, service was quick. Location is very good just in the roadside. What a fun experience! You choose a sauce and then the various vegetables, meats and extras, then it's cooked and served to your table a real fresh - as many times as you like. The food was very tasty with lots of choice, and the experience was a lot of fun.

Haben nachgelassen. Der Service war etwas chaotisch. Die Wartezeiten sehr lang. Schwerer wiegt allerdings die nachlassende Preis/Leistung. Da hat jemand geschickt den Rotstift angesetzt. Es wurde eine Gebühr zusätzlich zum Endpreis erhoben. Gleichzeitig wurden mehr niedrigpreisige Zutaten für Vegetarier ins Buffet gestellt, was allerdings zur Folge hat, dass andere hochwertige Produkte wie zum Beispiel Lachs oder andere Fleischsorten weggelassen wurden. Fazit: Man zahlt mehr für weniger. Das beengte Bahnhofshallenambiente ist in jeder Filiale gleich. Wenn man zu zweit ist, sollte man lieber für drei reservieren…

Leider gibt es das Mongos ja in Dortmund und Bochum nicht mehr, deswegen fahren wir als Ritual mit unseren besten Freunden in regelmäßigen Abständen im Jahr nach extra von Dortmund nach Essen. Super lecker...mega freundlich...

Ja, es ist frisch und lecker. Du suchst dir vorab eine Sauce aus, gehst mit deinem ,,Brett und Schale" zum Marktbuffet und wählst das was du magst und zur Sauce passt. Die Auswahl an Gemüsen, Fleisch, Fisch, Nudeln, Reis etc. ist sehr groß. Nun bringst du deine Schale zum Koch, dort schaut er nach, was für eine Sauce du gewählt hast und gart deine Portion mit der Sauce. Es gibt auch einen Studentenrabatt. Ich komme sehr gerne wieder. Am liebsten sofort ;) Juan, du bist der Beste Mexikaner den ich kenne. Gute Arbeit!

Es war toll! Wir hatten einen wunderschönen Abend mit hervorragendem Essen und Service. 🥰 Das Essen ist hochwertig und absolut frisch. Tolle, leckere Saucen...für jeden Geschmack etwas dabei. Die Auswahl ist auch Klasse, meine drei Schalen waren komplett unterschiedlich, schön Abwechslungsreich 😋 Die Mongonade war mega und allgemein Getränkeauswahl auch sehr gut. Der Service war absolut top, sehr freundlich, lustig, herzlich und aufmerksam, man merkt dass er seinen Job gerne macht. Unser Highlight kam ganz unerwartet etwas später. Einer von uns hatte seinen Schal vergessen, wir hatten es nicht bemerkt...als ich plötzlich einen Anruf erhielt. Es war unser toller Kellner, er hat den Schal gefunden und zur Seite gelegt 😍 sowas haben wir auch noch nicht erlebt. Super toll! Sehr teuer geworden. Wir sind mal bei unter 20 EUR pP dort hin. Inzwischen sind es knapp 30 pP. Ne Familie mit 4 Personen zahlt ohne Getränke halt 120 EUR. Ist halt viel Geld.

Wir waren Sonntags zum Brunch dort. Das Essen war sehr lecker, hatte aber in meinen Augen nichts mit Brunch zu tun. Der Service war sehr freundlich, aber leider nicht sehr aufmerksam, wenn man etwas brauchte musste man sehr lange warten bis man wahrgenommen wurde. Für das Ambiente kann ich user nur 2 Sterne geben. Es ist alles sehr eng. Der Tisch, an dem wir saßen der sehr klein und wir hatten noch dazu die Gadrobe direkt daneben, so dass uns die Jacken auch noch eingeengt haben.

Excellent service, great atmosphere, and fabulous food. A place to go for an occasion or because you’re looking for something a little bit special/different. Would definitely recommend both the satay and mamasan curry sauces. Unless you’re planning on doing more than two medium sized bowls of food (with no starters) you’re probably better off just getting the pay/bowl rather than the all you can eat. Incredibly helpful staff who were knowledgable about the food and drink on offer. Interesting selection of wines and spirits. Next time I’m in Essen I will absolutely be back!

Love the concept and selection, but the food is just okay. The sauces they use are overpowering and generallya bit too much, which given the selection of interesting ingredients is a real shame.

Wir haben uns entschieden das Buffet nach Gramm abzuwiegen. Leider gibt es wohl nicht mehr die Möglichkeit ein vergünstigten All-you-can-eat für Vegetarier zu bekommen. Der Normalpreis lohnt sich für Vegetarier u. Veganer in den meisten Fällen nicht. Wir haben zu zweit 45€ bezahlt was ich für letztendlich je eine volle Schale an gebratenen Nudeln mit Gemüse und einem Getränk schon echt viel finde. Geschmacklich war die Pfeffersoßen ganz toll, die Oriental-süß-sauer-Soße hingegen leider mit kaum Geschmack und nur süß. Das Ambiente ist geschmackvoll eingerichtet, einen Punkt Abzug gibt es jedoch wegen der nicht vorhandenen Möglichkeit, draußen zu sitzen, wäre aber auch bezüglich des Standortes vermutlich schwer umsetzbar. Der Service war gut.

Es war sehr lecker, allerdings hat ein Mitarbeiter von mir den Kampf gegen das Zebra verloren und liegt seit 2 Wochen mit schweren Schmerzen im Bett.

Wir kamen in das Restaurant und fühlten uns sofort herzlich willkommen. Sehr freundlicher, aufmerksamer Service. Nach einer guten Einweisung haben wir uns für Mongos Total entschieden, Buffet so oft man kann und möchte. Vorab gab es eine sehr gut schmeckende Kürbissuppe mit 2 verschiedenen Brotsorten und einem Dip. Zum Hauptgang, welchen man bei unserer Version beliebig oft nutzen kann, bekommt man ein Holzbrettchen mit einer Mulde für eine Schüssel. Man entscheidet sich vor jedem Gang für eine von 5 Marinaden. Dann bestückt man seine Schüssel mit diversen frischen Zutaten. Darunter auch Fleischsorten wie Bison, Zebra, Krokodil. Anschließend gibt man seine Schüssel an der Theke ab wo alles frisch zubereitet und anschließend am Tisch serviert wird. Man kann auch vorher noch diverse Gewürze oder Öle hinzufügen. Ein sehr gelungener Besuch.

Es hat alles an dem Abend gepasst, nette Begrüßung, ein besonderes Lob an Dejan, aber das ganze Team war sehr nett. Essen war auch alles auf dem Punkt und man musste nicht lange warten. Das Einzige was uns etwas gefehlt hat, in Bochum gab es immer ein paar kleine Desserts inkl., jetzt hätte man noch welche aus der Karte gesondert bestellen müssen. Aber wie gesagt, es war trotzdem ein runder Abend, eine kleine Unstimmigkeit bei der Rechnung wurde auf kurzem Dienstweg behoben. Wir kommen wieder.

An sich ein schönes Restaurant, allerdings mit sehr ungünstiger Akkustik, sodass es sehr laut werden kann. Das Essen an sich ist super, jedoch muss man mit Wartezeiten rechnen, beim Zusammenstellen und bis es dann an den Tisch geliefert wird, sobald es etwas voller wird.

Beim Betreten des Restaurants wurden wir von einem sehr freundlichen Personal empfangen und zum Tisch begleitet. Es wurde eine Speisekarte mit sehr großer Auswahl präsentiert, die am Buffet ausgewählten Komponenten wurden sehr schnell zubereitet, alles schmeckte sehr lecker und für jeden war was dabei. Es empfiehlt sich auf jeden Fall, einen Tisch zu reservieren. Hier kommt man gerne nochmals hin.

Es hat nicht geschmeckt und viel zu teuer Gerichte die auf der Karte standen konnten wir auch nicht bestellen da werde ich nicht noch mal essen gehen.

Essen sehr lecker, man kann sich ja alles selbst zusammen stellen. Auch mal was ganz neues ausprobieren. Für 30,90EUR soviel essen wie man mag! Hat sich für mich leider nicht gelohnt, nächstes Mal bezahle ich lieber pro Schüsselchen!
