REDO XXL Cottbus in Cottbus

I would not recommend this place. We go there every year, but this evening was truly disappointing. We made a reservation two months in advance, but that evening we discovered that the person who booked had already made a reservation for next year. What do you do with nine people and an hour's drive? Of course, they simply turn us away, saying they were fully booked. We only found out from another guest that they were about to leave, and after asking, the staff said the table would be free afterward. After an hour's wait, it was finally our turn... but there was no sign of friendliness, just a lot of bad temper trying to serve even more guests. We had to wait ages for drinks, no bibs were offered, and the food was cold and bland. We didn't even receive an apology or any compensation. It was truly awful and disappointing. The menu has also deteriorated significantly. Next year, we will definitely be going somewhere else.

We ate there for the first time today... the food arrived very quickly and in generous portions... they also cater to customer requests... the staff were super friendly... the food was delicious, we'll definitely come back... keep up the good work!

We visited Redo XXL at the family's request, and we had a lovely evening. The food was very good.

Went there again after about 10 years. This time with my son, so he could see it for himself. The service was friendly, courteous, and attentive. I'd say the ambiance was the same, or at least similar, 10 years ago. Time definitely stood still with the food. I had the spare ribs, and they were just as boring as they were back then. That doesn't mean they were bad, just boring in taste! They lacked that kick, that rich, smoky flavor! The barbecue sauce was a standard sauce. My son had the 200g schnitzel au four with fries—the au four was tasty, but the schnitzel itself didn't weigh 200g. My wife had the steak au four, also 200g, with croquettes—in her opinion, it didn't weigh that much. On the plus side, the food came very quickly: less than 10 minutes. On the downside, some of it was still warm. The fries were also good—they tasted much better than in the past. Overall, I gave it four stars. That was less due to the food than to the staff. Otherwise, it's more of an average 3+. The place was packed, which means it's still doing well. You can also see that in the reviews. But the food definitely needs an upgrade!

We ate at XXL Redo today. The restaurant itself is cozy, and the food is truly delicious—the 400g schnitzel, in particular, was super juicy and perfectly prepared. Unfortunately, we had to wait quite a while before we were even served. Other guests who arrived after us were served first, which was a bit disappointing. However, you could tell the staff were trying very hard—they were unfortunately significantly understaffed. There were only two employees there: one at the bar and one serving, and they simply couldn't keep up. Despite the wait, the food was excellent overall. The smaller 200g schnitzel was a bit too pink in the middle, so that part was unfortunately uneatable. All in all: the food is highly recommended, the service friendly, but clearly overworked. With more staff, it would certainly be an all-round great experience.

We've been wanting to eat there for ages, and finally did. What can I say... I was pretty disappointed with the food. It certainly wasn't Wiener Schnitzel. Every kind of schnitzel was the same. The fries weren't really seasoned and were lukewarm...etc. We tried a few things and have to honestly say it was absolutely not worth the money. It's a shame; we expected much more.

We spontaneously visited Redo XXL in Cottbus on October 7, 2025, and despite not having made a reservation, we actually managed to get a table for three people. Pleasant service, a liter of beer, pomegranate lemonade, and cola were brought quickly, and the food was also served at our table, after what I thought was a reasonable amount of time. We had beef short ribs with potato wedges and the Redo mushroom sauce, which also included wild mushrooms, a 400g schnitzel with fries, and chicken liver with potato mash and, instead of fresh onions, "only" fried onions. The short ribs were legendary soft and tender, the bones fell off easily; a 10 out of 10 in terms of taste, plus the gravy and the Redo mushroom sauce...a poem...a bit too many potato wedges, but otherwise fantastic. The schnitzel with fries was solidly good, and the fries were nice and juicy and crispy. The chicken liver was delicious, the mashed potatoes were also excellent, but there was a bit too much red wine in the sauce, and roasted onions instead of fresh ones. But this dish, like the schnitzel, was a 10 out of 10. The service was very attentive and attentive to the guests. One small drawback is the somewhat small size of the restrooms, especially if you're a bit overweight. Otherwise, a top-notch place and highly recommended, especially the friendly service. Awesome 😉

Super service, food super, I can only recommend

We have been there several times now and have been sent away despite free tables. We always enjoyed eating there before but the place has seen us for the last time.

We've already been to the Wildau and Frankfurt Oder Redo, and we think the one here in Cottbus is the best. The staff is super cool and always up for a laugh ;). The food was also delicious, and the meat was cooked to perfection.

It's a shame, as with many restaurants these days, that they skimp on quality and the prices are through the roof. I was looking forward to the evening but wasn't satisfied. I ordered a 600g schnitzel with 6 eggs and 3 sauces. The three small schnitzels arrived, very dark. The fries were delicious, as were the sauces. It wasn't the first time we've eaten there, and we actually had the same meal as last time, except last time it was a large, whole schnitzel. Three people serving were really tight and overwhelmed, so they stopped accepting any more seats. The bill took a long time to arrive, and after asking several times, it finally arrived...

An interesting establishment. A bit of an attempt to reconstruct the GDR that never existed. The portion sizes are particularly striking. But overall, I liked it.

Good old GDR cuisine! Not junk from other countries, but authentic East German cuisine like Grandma used to know.

There was plenty for everyone and it was delicious! But the best part is that, as someone with allergies, I received excellent advice and went home completely stuffed. ☺️ Thanks to Steffan

We've been to this restaurant several times and have only positive things to say. We recently had a family celebration and again had only positive things to say. It's a dining experience, and it all depends on your own expectations. We would love to come back.

With high expectations and full of joy, we drove to Cottbus to eat at Redo XXL. When we arrived, we were shown to our table. There was a large sign on the table with a QR code and the phrase "You can order here." This was confusing, of course, because we thought the whole ordering process was done via the app. We also only discovered by chance at the end that there were buttons behind the sign to request a waiter. We said right at the beginning, "This is our first time here, so it'll explain it to us, right?" The drinks were served quickly. Then we had to wait 15 minutes until someone came to take our food order. We thought we were doing something wrong, because of the phrase on the sign with the QR code. (You can pre-order and pay for food using the QR code.) When we were getting our food, the waiter objected, saying I should get the 1kg schnitzel to make things easier for my girlfriend. It's meant kindly, but if I order a 400g schnitzel as a guest, then I order it and don't need any objections. The whole thing wasn't bad, though, just a tip. What unfortunately wasn't tasty was the main course. The schnitzel was very tough and the breading was tasteless. The fries tasted like industrial fries. The steak was completely cooked, you couldn't even cut through it. Unfortunately, we left it. When we were paying, five waiters came over to us, even though we only asked for the bill. Apparently, a button was pressed to ask for a waiter, even though we didn't even know there was one. In conclusion, we were sadly disappointed. You can tell the service is trying hard, but it was unfortunately quite chaotic (we observed the same thing with other guests). Unfortunately, the food wasn't convincing enough to make us go back to Cottbus.

It was fantastic. We had a server who knew his job and did it with passion. He was in a great mood and on the ball. We didn't lack for anything. The food was incredibly delicious. Super juicy and crispy chicken schnitzel with deliciously seasoned and perfectly fried potatoes. The coleslaw was also really tasty.

We spent a lovely evening here with delicious food and great service. The selection of dishes is excellent and truly worth recommending. We'll definitely be back.

In retrospect, it was okay, albeit sobering. I was really happy to have my first Redo experience. We received a very friendly welcome from the barman at the beginning, and the subsequent service was also top-notch. There were six of us there and we ordered the Kaiser Platter. At first, it was very overwhelming, but then sobering quickly set in. Two small spare ribs, two gnarled pieces of beef, and a rather dry pork schnitzel. At the bottom of the platter was a kind of paprika sauce (you're not allowed to say the other name these days), which meant that everything tasted the same and was sticky. Actually, this would only be worth two stars. However, since we also opted for the prawn platter, it was still a highlight. They tasted really good and were a very good size. Something happened with the drinks, which wasn't our fault, but which changed the mood of the staff afterward. The bartender confused the soft drink at the 3-liter pump and asked us if it was okay for us to have that. I also got a taste, but it wasn't my cup of tea and said no. The mood somehow changed, which was rather unpleasant because it wasn't our fault. In the end, we spent over €300, were full, and tipsy. The bar was probably set too high with "GIG." I can imagine having the experience again, but without the Kaiserplatte. I thought the Kaiserplatte would be a kind of showcase for the food selection. But it was rather disappointing, at least on the plate. So I wonder if I order the T-bone steak, for example, whether it will also be of such poor quality, or whether the meat will be rather dry if I order the schnitzel. By the way, I found the additional cost for a few croquettes outrageous. When I ordered, I asked for a 50/50 split of fries/croquettes, but it ended up being 95/5...and then charging more for that wasn't so nice. One final thing. The online booking system showed "fully booked" for various times. However, during our visit, we discovered that the restaurant was anything but fully booked that evening. We would have liked to choose a different time, but the booking system didn't allow it. I'll justify this by saying that if you're fully booked, you need to have the appropriate staff on hand. I'm also taking into account the fact that in the good weather, some people were outside, and in case of rain or bad weather, they might have to be moved inside.

We went out to eat a few days ago. 5 adults, 2 children. The service was incredibly friendly, always a friendly word on their lips, and outwardly relaxed. Really cool!! The drinks were also ice-cold and delicious. The food was amazing. It was our first time here, and I had no idea how big it would be. I was stunned. It was also very tasty... Except for the "fried potatoes." They weren't really cooked and were swimming in oil. So was the whole plate and the meat. Unfortunately, it wasn't good for my stomach. But despite all that, it was a great evening, and we'll be back. Big praise again to the staff, and keep up the great work.

XXL approx. 60 cm hot dog is really delicious Not sold as a whole

We ate here last week. As always, everything was great. The service was super friendly, the food truly delicious. The drinks this time weren't so good. The Aperol was more water than anything else. Only this time we waited over 90 minutes for our food. What we found particularly unfortunate was that I was forced to tip. When paying by card, I had three options: clicking on a 10, 15, or 20 percent tip. If you don't do that, the payment process doesn't continue. I find that absolutely outrageous. I always tip when I'm satisfied. When I paid by card, the tip was given in cash. But I won't let anyone force me to do it, especially not tell me how much to pay...what if I didn't like the food...or the service disappointed me...There were nine of us, and I added a €36 tip to my total bill. That's just unacceptable in my opinion. We won't be coming back anytime soon...what a shame

You have to be prepared for a lot of time here. Four of us waited 70 minutes. The service was too rushed, in my opinion. The food was okay, but the price was too high. I won't be going back anytime soon.

Yesterday, after a long shift at work, I wanted to go to XXL with my family for dinner. We arrived at 8:35 p.m. and were told by the staff that the chefs were closed. Unfortunately, this wasn't the first time. We were there last week at 9 p.m. and had to leave because the chefs were also closed. It was also during the week. Of course, they understood that if there's nothing going on, they close (even though the website says opening hours are until 10 p.m.), but yesterday the restaurant was half full and I saw that some people had just gotten their food. I took photos of everything and can add anything as proof. Unfortunately, I don't know. I only went because I was a foreigner, or they're like that to everyone. If I went alone, it wouldn't be a problem. But with family and a small child, walking 10 minutes to get there and then being treated like that is not right.

Top service at Redo Cottbus! We had a fantastic visit to Redo Restaurant Cottbus. The service was outstanding – Stefan, in particular, served us perfectly. Every request was fulfilled, and there were even extras like extra ice cream. The food, atmosphere, and friendliness – everything was top-notch! We'll definitely be back!

Redo in Cottbus is always an experience. We often spend team evenings here, meet-ups with friends, and cozy dinners with friends. The food is delicious and relatively inexpensive for the size. XXL is definitely a priority here. But you'll also find something for a small appetite. The staff is usually very good, attentive, and friendly. You don't have to wait forever for your food. Not just quantity, but also quality. Even the fries are very good at Redo. We always enjoy coming back. Highly recommended.

It's always nice to stop here. We come here with our group often throughout the year. The tall, blond waiter always has a great saying. That's how it should be. Maybe try a beer change... "GiG" is what the boss always says.

DISAPPOINTED - We had dirty cutlery and rude, almost incompetent service! The table was so dirty underneath that you got messy white dishes. The only friendliness we experienced was from the bar staff. They charged incorrectly and delivered the wrong food, or even argued that we hadn't specified the side dish change. The schnitzel was only half covered with seasoned meat and 50 percent undercooked. Cottbus won't see us again. As customers who usually frequent the place—even in larger groups—we're out! The "nice" gentleman who served us was so rude, unprofessional, clumsy (the plates were too hot and heavy, according to him)—and even a bit cheeky; perhaps he should reconsider his career choice.

This is the second time we've been to this restaurant. I don't want to say anything about the service. From "take your plate, it's hot" to the wrong drink order, we had everything today. When we ordered online we stated a birthday but it was ignored until the end. There was no nice table decoration or "happy birthday" greeting. The service was very poor (I work in service myself). Unfortunately, 5 out of 7 schnitzels weren't cooked through... a shame really. Overall we were very dissatisfied with our visit today. We won't be going back.

Update on a recent stay: We were there with four people on June 6, 2025. Since I was already an enthusiastic guest almost seven years ago, a visit to Redo XXL was a must during my short trip via Cottbus. It was perfectly adequate for four people. Since we couldn't agree on the side dishes, we were served homemade fries and fried potatoes at no extra charge. The now free "Schnorrteller" (snack plates) are also a great concept. Finally, the ladies were treated to two wonderful ice cream sundaes. The ice cream was made by the employee, Mr. Schade. We really enjoyed it again. It's sad for us that there isn't a branch in Amberg. We were in Cottbus on August 5, 2018. We ended up at Redo XXL without a plan and were very hungry. I'm not a fan of giant portions, but it looked somehow tempting from the outside. Well, since we were already there, let's go in. We were four adults and a five-year-old girl. The very friendly waiter gave us a nice seat despite not having a reservation (it was very busy that day). When he brought us the menus, he had a coloring book and crayons for my friend's daughter. I've never experienced anything like that before. The same friendliness continued when we took our drink orders. Perusing the menu, we found both XXL portions and regular-sized dishes. They also offer a "scrounger plate" for €1.95. For this amount, a second person is provided with a plate and cutlery and can "scrounge" from other guests as they please. A very good idea, the cheapest way to divide an XXL portion between several people, and then everyone eats it all up. We all chose normal-sized dishes, though. I had the grill plate a la Redo. Even though it's served on a huge plate, you still underestimate its size. It was just enough to spend the evening without feeling full (although I'm already a big eater). The other dishes, such as solyanka, sliced ​​pork fillet, Königsberger Klopse, and the children's schnitzel (there's a page on the menu for child-sized portions, but I take that for granted) were also perfectly fine. The price, quality, and taste are all right here. The dishes were served at the same time. We were given funny bibs with our meals. There's also a photo booth where we took a few funny pictures. So our stay dragged on a bit longer than expected. The waiter was always attentive to our needs and asked if our glasses were empty, but without being intrusive in the slightest. I had the feeling he enjoys working in this restaurant. The other waitresses and bar staff also always seemed friendly and attentive. And judging by the taste, the guys and girls (unfortunately, I didn't see any because I wasn't in the kitchen) also enjoy their work. No one seemed overwhelmed or stressed, apparently because they have enough staff. I would definitely recommend this place. There are currently five restaurants. If you haven't had enough to eat, you can pack it up and take it with you. Just let the waiter know, and they'll bring it. Went to Redo XXL in Cottbus for the first time today and were really impressed with the food and the price-performance ratio. The garlic dip could definitely use some garlic, it was a bit quick or fresh and the toilets aren't particularly inviting, but all in all we (4 adults and 4 children) had a wonderful and super fun evening. The great and friendly service definitely helped :) Thank you for that 👏🏻

Discovered by chance, curiosity piqued, and it tasted truly delicious! Lo and behold – even allergy sufferers can enjoy delicious food without any problems. Upon request, my meal was prepared gluten- and lactose-free! A truly amazing and enormous rump steak. Cooked medium-rare and tender from the first bite to the last. I served it with a salad with balsamic vinaigrette! And it was truly delicious! That's what a good restaurant should be! Many thanks to Mr. Schade for his excellent advice and the special tip for the kitchen! We will be back 🤤

This evening was our first time socializing at Redo, having heard of some mixed experiences. Unfortunately, my friend promptly caught a half-raw schnitzel on his plate. Luckily it was an XL portion, so he was still full. But there was no discount for it. They offered to make a new portion, but we all wanted to eat at the same time. He wasn't alone at the table with the raw meat; there was also half-cooked chicken on an XL meat skewer. My vegetarian burger tasted good, but unfortunately the fries that came with it arrived cold. What should be highlighted is the super nice service, which I would like to honor with 3 stars.

I can only recommend this restaurant. If you are in Cottbus, you should definitely visit it. The food is delicious, a great, diverse menu and great service. The Redo is a must for anyone who likes large or small portions.

Several sizes of dishes are offered, often with an explanation of how many people it would be suitable for. We booked 2 large plates for 5 people and were able to. Everyone take some leftovers with them for the next day. The price per person is the same as any other restaurant. An interesting experience for groups. If you want to eat schnitzel you have to go there. Both waiters are great. They are in a good mood and understand their craft and know how to treat guests. With kindness and humor.

I would happily recommend it, the only negative thing is that the fries were dry and tasteless. Otherwise, gladly again. For a 600g chicken schnitzel, mushroom cream sauce, 1l wheat and a 0.5l beer for 50€. The only thing that didn't work out was the reservation for 6 people. The two people understood. We still got a table

First of all, there is a sign saying that you will receive a voucher on your birthday. There was congratulations, but nothing more. Secondly, the staff was at our table so often, plates were cleared away when others at the table were still eating and it was repeatedly made clear that you should actually just eat quickly and then leave. Everyone had full plates except one who had 6 croquettes on her huge empty plate. Unfortunately we were very disappointed that evening.

Always happy again. Very friendly staff with wit and humor and there is also delicious food. We'll be back.

Ich war bisher eigentlich immer total begeistert, aber gestern bin ich leider enttäuscht worden.. Zunächst steht draußen auf dem Schild, dass man einen Gutschein in Höhe von 10€ bekommt, wenn man zum Geburtstag dort essen geht. Auf Nachfrage, wegen der Geschenke wurde kurz gratuliert, aber mehr auch nicht. Keine Deko, keine Fontäne, keinen Gutschein, nichts. Okay ist jetzt nicht so wild, aber... Es kam gefühlt ständig jemand zu unserem Tisch, Teller wurden abgeräumt als noch jemand am Tisch gegessen hat, als xxl Restaurant einen Teller mit 6 Kroketten zu servieren auch irgendwie schwach. Jeder hatte einen vollen Teller, außer eine, die hatte 6 normalgroße Kroketten, also irgendwie echt komisch und sah sehr verloren aus. Man fühlte sich dort so, als sollte man bloß schnell essen und sofort gehen, also so wurde es leider durch mehrere Mitarbeiter rübergebracht. Beim zahlen mit Karte fühlte man sich auch irgendwie unter Druck gesetzt Trinkgeld anzuklicken, weil das Personal direkt mit auf das Display geschaut hat während der Bezahlung.. also keine Ahnung wir waren alle sehr enttäuscht und das zum 30. Geburtstag, hm.. Ich denke so schnell werden wir dieses Lokal nicht mehr besuchen.

Everything was good so far and just a snapshot, but my child broke up afterward and my 2kg ribs were really not good. The meat had to be pulled from the bone with force and the taste was very porky. The Kaufland ribs for the oven are better. What a shame for 40 euros.

It was very, very crowded and we waited over 60 minutes for food. Everything tastes very, very good and the price is also right.

As expected, it was just great to be able to dine at Gastro Gott. Ambiance, friendly staff and delicious food.
