We spontaneously stopped at this restaurant during a Sunday lunchtime stroll while strolling through town. It's a lovely place in the old town hall, with friendly staff, delicious food, and reasonable prices. We felt very comfortable… what more could you want? We'd love to come back. Thank you!

What a joy – another change of ownership, meaning new waitstaff and a new chef! If everything runs smoothly, this will surely become our new favorite spot. We ate there on November 9th, 2025, a party of four. The price-performance ratio was excellent, the staff very friendly and attentive, and the food delicious – pizza scampi, mixed grill, spaghetti scampi, salad, beef broth, fish soup, and panna cotta. We were delighted, although we would have preferred it a bit more seasoned. We'll definitely be back!

The new chef was a great choice. The pizza was excellent and the soups authentically Italian. The panna cotta for dessert was divine. The service was outstanding, and we look forward to returning.

We had a wonderful girls' night out at La Piazza on October 30th and felt completely at ease. The ambiance, service, and food were all absolutely perfect. The staff was friendly and very attentive, the food delicious and authentic: we ordered several different dishes, and they were all excellent, not at all greasy (as mentioned in a previous review), and beautifully presented. All this at reasonable prices. We'd love to come back.

We're currently sitting down to eat. The service is "attempted." The wrong food (bistecca instead of pollo). What a pity. The liver is swimming in oil—how do you fix that when you order "grilled?" The draft beer was well poured.

Nice owners! The food wasn't particularly special, though – the carbonara was a lovely German dish with a cream sauce, the risotto was bone-hard and the chicken was very dry, and the garlic soup was like melted butter with no flavor at all. Not really recommended.

We were at La Piazza last night. And there's not much to say except... We'd love to come back, and if you want Italian food in the area, this is the place to go. A very nice restaurant.

We ate at the Ratskeller Grimma for the first time on August 31, 2025. The service when we entered and sat outside was okay. When we wanted to order, we heard there was no pizza today, which is actually unusual for an Italian restaurant. We ordered something else. When the food arrived, we were disappointed with how it looked and it didn't taste good. This restaurant has nothing to do with being Italian. The price/performance ratio of the two dishes is not right. The food was simply presented and the taste was not okay. We cannot recommend the Ratskeller Grimma as an Italian restaurant because we have visited various Italian restaurants and eaten there too, and the quality of the food was okay, but in Grimma we didn't like a lot of the food.

This is the third time we've been to the Ratskeller Grimma – and we're absolutely thrilled every time! The service is super friendly and attentive, and even if you arrive late at night, you'll be warmly welcomed and even given something to take home. The food is always excellent, top quality, and perfectly flavored. You just feel completely at home here. Highly recommended – we'll definitely be back!

We were in Grimma for the "Evening of the Senses" on Friday evening. "La Piazza" in the Ratskeller is located on the market square and had wonderful music provided by two bands. The friendly waitress took our drink orders and handed us menus. Along with our drinks, our food orders were taken – then we learned they didn't serve pizza. Okay, so we opted for the 70 "Medaglionia alla pizzaiola" and 90 "Fegato di vitello alla veneziana." After about a quarter of an hour, I learned they didn't serve liver today. Disappointed, I ordered 42 "Risotto marinara" as an alternative. Unfortunately, the medallions were served with baked vegetables instead of spaghetti. Why wasn't explained, and it was only after discussion that it was replaced with pasta. My risotto was a rice dish with tomato sauce and seafood. Delicious, but lacked the creaminess of a—exactly—risotto. The bill was the drink receipt, and upon request, the food receipt as well. Sorry, a restaurant can't survive like this (for long). And no one should complain that the restaurant industry has it so tough. (I'm happy to explain "optimization strategies" for a risotto [sic!]).

The staff is completely overwhelmed. I've never experienced anything this bad before, never again! The staff speaks very little German!

It's striking that many reviews here still clearly refer to Mr. Schiller's previous restaurant, the Ratskeller, which was here until September 2024. This is the only explanation for the average rating of 4.5 stars. This should be changed, rather than taking credit for other people's work.

Absolutely creepy. A lot of money for nothing. Handwritten invoices, card payments not possible... The Grimma tax office approved it 😂

Very friendly service and super delicious food, we were there at lunchtime and waited about half an hour while the food was cleared away.

A recently opened new Italian restaurant with a very nice atmosphere and excellent food. Despite not having a full menu yet (pizza), it will be available soon. Important: Cash only is currently accepted, but that's no problem; just remember to bring some with you. The staff was super friendly. We'll be back, 😊

The food was perfectly fine and reasonably priced. The menu was heavily Italian. Some details still need to be worked on to earn it a five-star rating.

We were there yesterday. The food was simply amazing. The staff was very friendly. All in all, just perfect.

We were at the new La Piazza today and were unfortunately very disappointed. Pizza - no. Bolognese - no. Carbonara - nada. The wait for the main course was over 1.5 hours. The meat wasn't good. With the rump steak, there was no question of whether it was medium, rare, or well done. Unfortunately, the seasoning was also missing. Both in the food and on the table. The green beans were black. They could have been small twigs. A universal sauce for 70% of the dishes. The au gratin mushrooms were unfortunately undercooked, the cheese was literally at the bottom. There was no espresso - the machine was broken. Addendum: The bill is handwritten. And with a whopping 18% VAT. The cash register system is also "not yet" working. Card payments are also not possible. Perhaps things will improve over time.

We wanted to have lunch on September 15th, 2024. That day was buffet day. The hostess offered us an extra lunch, but we then decided on the buffet. I have to say it was very tasty and we got a discount because we didn't arrive until around 12.30 p.m. A very friendly restaurant, they even asked if everything was good for us and if we still wanted cake. Huge compliment. We'll be happy to come back when we're nearby. Our dog was given water. We'd love to come back. Kind regards from the Moselle

A really nice place to celebrate, cozy, romantic, with space to dance, friendly service, good food, clean toilets. Everything is great.

You can rely on the Ratskeller team. Allowing yourself to be pampered with culinary delights is always a wonderful experience.

The food was delicious. The little greeting from the kitchen has probably fallen victim to austerity measures. The guest room is very pretty, but very dark. Lighting only via small LED strips. In cloudy weather and with the small windows you can hardly see the menu. The friendly manner of the service was unpleasant: “Watch out, it’s hot, hey!” and rolling your eyes when you ask for a different vegetable than what is advertised on the menu.

Great team, whether in the kitchen or in the service, keep it up..... 👍

We went to Ratskeller for lunch on Boxing Day. We were able to freely choose the food from a clear Christmas menu and any special requests were taken into account. Great service, very friendly staff, short waiting times, the food was excellent, all-round highly recommended hospitality. We'd love to come back.

The food was very tasty, but the service left a lot to be desired. The waitress was very unfriendly/arrogant towards my friend for no reason. Was our first and last visit.

Das beste, was mir zum Martinsgans Essen je passiert ist. Und es passt wohl in den Plan, da es von zu Hause nicht soo sehr weit weg ist.

Immer wieder gern besuchen wir Frau Schiller und ihr Team. Nette und freundliche Bedienung, vorzügliches Essen und hervorragendes Ambiente. Sehr zu empfehlen!

Hatte Klassentreffen dort, der Kellner hatte starke Nerven und war gut gelaunt, den ganzen Abend, das Buffet war sehr schön angerichtet und sehr lecker. War ein gelungener Abend.

Wir hatten nicht reserviert, das Serviceteam hat alles möglich gemacht, dass wir einen wunderschönen Abend verbringen konnten. Kulinarisch waren wir hochzufrieden, das Essen war perfekt… der Salat war absolut frisch und lecker, das Steak und der Fisch auf den Punkt gegart und gewürzt, die Beilagen standen dem in nichts nach. Die Getränke waren ebenso perfekt, das Bier aus Meißen, der Wein aus der Wachau, der Brotschnaps aus der Region mit dem perfekten Espresso rundeten den wunderschönen Abend ab. Wir waren so begeistert, dass wir am nächsten Abend gleich nochmal im Ratskeller waren, gleichermaßen hochzufrieden 👍.

Ahhh, ich hab vergessen zu bewerten, Alles Tip top - (((essen dauerte e bissl lange))),,,, aber wer selber kocht!!, Weiß das frisch gebrutzeltes hald e bissl dauert ....sehr schön und zufrieden Cooler Abend ... Danke

Spontan zum Abendessen? Kein Problem! Ein Ratskeller ebenerdig mit Biergarten, sehr netter Bedienung und ausgezeichnetem Essen. Individuelles Gericht nach den Wünschen meiner Frau, auch das war möglich. Lecker kalte Gurkensuppe als Tagesempfehlung. Absolut empfehlenswert.

Wir kehrten dort bei der Halbzeit der Fahrradtour ein. Draußen waren alle Tische reserviert, ging aber trotzdem für zwei Personen. Es erinnert an alte DDR-Zeiten, damit das Trinkgeld steigt. Mehrere Tische blieben in den 1,5 Stunden leer und Kunden wurden abgewiesen. Das hochpreisige Essen (Stück Kalbsleber mit sehr, sehr viel Zwiebeln, sieht so nach mehr aus, und ein Klacks Kartoffelpüree für 23,90€) kam zügig, aber dem Preis nicht wert. Zweites Gericht war Sülze, Remoulade und Bratkartoffeln. Die billige Remoulade hat den Hauptanteil vom Teller. Während der Pause ließen wir eine Batterie für das E-Bike laden, dafür wollten die drei Euro (einmal vollladen kostet 0,10€ Strom). Diese haben wir verweigert, bezahlt ohne Trinkgeld. Lieber Diät als dort noch einmal zu Essen

Vorspeisen hervorragend, leider konnten die Hauptspeisen geschmacklich auf dem Niveau nicht mithalten. Desserts wiederum sehr gut. Eine Bedienung mit längeren blonden Haaren sehr nett, eine andere mit kurzen blonden Haaren, eher genervt, lustlos und verdrehte ständig die Augen, wenn sie sich unbeobachtet fühlte. In der Gastronomie sollte der Service mindestens freundlich sein, wenn man das nicht kann, ist man fehl am Platz. Ambiente ist in Ordnung, könnte aber etwas gemütlicher eingerichtet sein. Preise für örtliche Verhältnisse gehoben, jedoch stimmt für den Preis das Gesamtpaket nicht (siehe Anmerkung Hauptspeisen und Service)

Das Essen hat wunderbar geschmeckt, es herrschte ein schönes Ambiente, die Mitarbeiter waren freundlich und sehr zuvorkommend und zusätzlich sind die Preise angemessen und somit ist auch das Preis-Leistungs-Verhältnis richtig gut. Der Ratskeller im Rathaus Grimma bietet einfach rundum alles, was man sich von einem Restaurant nur wünschen kann. Ich kann dieses wunderbare Restaurant nur jedem herzlichst weiterempfehlen! Das Einzige, was ein bisschen komisch ist, ist die Toilettensituation, denn man muss erst einmal gefühlt durch das ganze Rathaus pilgern, bis man an den Toiletten angekommen ist. Jedoch sind die Toiletten dafür wunderbar sauber.

Das erste Haus am Platz. Wir hatten in der Spargelsaison ein Spargelgericht und ein Rumpsteak. Das Rumpsteak ist Spitzenklasse, der Spargel auch. Die Preise sind gehoben, aber angemessen. Freundlicher Service und tolles Ambiente. Grimma ist malerisch und wirklich eine Reise wert.

Wir waren als Gruppe Sonntag mittag da zum Essen,wunderschönes Ambiente im hist.Ratskeller Grimma.Tisch einladend eingedeckt,super Essen und auch der Service passte! Waren früher schon oft mit den Eltern da,war immer eine gute Adresse!

Bestes Restaurant weit und breit! Das Essen ist fantastisch, bei regelmäßig wechselnder, kreativer Karte. Das Personal ist unglaublich freundlich und aufmerksam. Man kann direkt vor dem Ratskeller parken. Eine vorherige Reservierung ist nötig, denn die gute Küche hat sich offensichtlich herumgesprochen. Wir sind mittlerweile Stammgäste.

Trotz nahezu ausgebuchtem Sonntagsmittagsgeschäft wurden wir ausgesprochen freundlich und zuvorkommend behandelt, Reservierungen wurden hin und her geschoben, bis sich doch noch zwei "Corona"-gerechte Plätze fanden. Entsprechend freundlich war dann auch die Bedienung. Die anspruchsvolle Gestaltung des historischen Raumes bot die entsprechende Kulisse für ein vorzügliches Menü! Einfach nur super und für uns eine sehr gelungene Sonntagsüberraschung! DANKESCHÖN!!
