Ratskeller in Heilbronn – finally, a restaurant that lives up to its reputation After several rather disappointing experiences in upscale restaurants, I was initially skeptical whether the Ratskeller in Heilbronn would truly live up to its reputation. The deciding factor for my visit was the classic Wiener Schnitzel, served here with original veal – a rarity in the region. Right from the start, a welcome from the kitchen was served: fresh baguette with a delicately seasoned leek cream. The bread was noticeably high quality – crispy on the outside, soft on the inside – and harmonized perfectly with the spicy cream, which was very well-balanced in flavor. A truly successful start to the meal. I officially started with a vitello tonnato as an appetizer, and it was immediately clear that the kitchen knows its craft. The combination of fine meat and the creamy tuna sauce was perfectly balanced. I was particularly impressed by the fresh basil with its intense aroma and the finely chopped vegetables, which gave the dish an extra freshness. The Wiener Schnitzel was the expected highlight of the evening: tender, wafer-thin, and perfectly fried with a light, golden coating, just as you'd expect. As a side dish, I chose homemade spaetzle with gravy, which can be added free of charge upon request. The spaetzle impressed with their irregular shape and authentic flavor—clearly homemade. The sauce was aromatic, robust, and also seemed homemade, with recognizable ingredients and a delicate texture. To finish, I chose a chocolate crème brûlée with lemon sorbet and fresh berries. The bitter note of the crème brûlée contrasted beautifully with the sweet and sour freshness of the sorbet. The berries—including pomegranate seeds—provided fruity accents and a pleasant crunch. A well-thought-out and flavorfully balanced dessert. Overall, the evening was a thoroughly positive surprise for me. The value for money was absolutely spot on, and the service was professional, friendly, and attentive. I also really enjoyed the ambiance—a successful blend of old-fashioned elegance and modernity. Even the wait times were nothing to complain about. For me, the Ratskeller is one of the few upscale restaurants that not only shines with its name and appearance, but also delivers on the plate and in its service. I can recommend it without reservation.

The Ratskeller is always highly recommended. This time we were seated outside. Unfortunately, the tablecloth was dirty, which shouldn't be the case in a restaurant like this. The menu is very small, and the wine selection is modest. My roast beef was good, but not the rump steak. The staff, 100 points, were very friendly and accommodating.

Good morning everyone. I highly recommend the staff. The kitchen is always open, according to the advertised hours. The atmosphere is friendly, the food excellent and freshly cooked; nothing we ordered was pre-prepared. The cutlet, mushrooms, and homemade fettuccine were excellent... If you're passing by, it's worth a stop. Best regards.

We were on a day trip to Heilbronn. The Ratskeller, conveniently located in the center, caught our eye. It had a very nice, shaded terrace. But the interior was also spacious and pleasant. Excellent service: friendly and attentive. Very nice! And the lunch menu was excellent: I had herring with fried potatoes, and my wife had a salad with salmon and pike-perch (it was a Friday). Very tasty and reasonably priced.

The three of us spontaneously went to the Ratskeller without a reservation. We received a very friendly welcome and were immediately given a great table. The food was fantastic, and the service was very friendly and accommodating! A thoroughly enjoyable and enjoyable evening!

We had lunch there. I had a Swabian roast beef with onions and spaetzle, and my wife had a sour cream roast. Everything was delicious! We'll definitely come back next time!

We had a thoroughly enjoyable evening at the Ratskeller Heilbronn! We called spontaneously and still managed to get a table. The start was already promising – the kitchen greeted us with bread and a truly delicious spread, which perfectly whetted our appetites. For starters, I had the beef carpaccio – tender, delicately seasoned, and beautifully presented. My main course, the Wiener veal schnitzel with spaetzle and fried potatoes, was a real treat: crispy on the outside, tender as butter on the inside, the side dishes homemade and perfectly seasoned. The side salad was also fresh and lovingly prepared. I would particularly like to highlight the service: The staff was very friendly and attentive. One gentleman in particular, whom I consider the boss, regularly walked past our table, always had a funny remark on his lips, and created a relaxed and welcoming atmosphere. You could tell the passion they put into their work. I'll definitely be back – a clear recommendation and a full 5 stars!!

Classic menu. Friendly, competent service. We enjoyed seasonal asparagus dishes and a savory mousse for dessert. The dishes are perfectly freshly cooked and fried using regional ingredients. Unfortunately, I didn't dare take any photos.

I was visiting the city and the Ratskeller was recommended to me. We were a group of five. I can't share their enthusiasm. The wait time from ordering to the main course being served was outrageous. Quality: good. Overall: better restaurant, but not a standout. The table was reserved, so there was no wait.

Wir haben auf der Durchreise in Heilbronn übernschtet und haben auch ohne Reservierung einen schönen Tisch bekommen. Die Mitarbeitenden waren alles sehr freundlich und aufmerksam. Die Karte hat eine gute Auswahl an Speisen und Getränken. Das Essen war sehr lecker und vom Geschmack gut abgestimmt. Wir hatten einen sehr schönen Abend. Wenn wir wieder einmal in Heilbronn sind, wissen wir, wohin wir essen gehen werden.

Wir waren mit der Arbeit zum Mittagessen dort. Ich habe ein Wiener Schnitzel mit Bratkartoffeln bestellt. Das Wiener hat nach nichts geschmeckt, die Panade war total fad. Die Bratkartoffeln waren matschig und nicht kross gebraten. Für den Preis von 29€ eine Frechheit. Der Service war leider auch ausbaufähig. Die Dame war kurz angebunden und wenig freundlich. Das Preis-/Leistungsverhältnis passt für mich nicht.

Food was okay but at these prices I expected better quality. If a schnitzel costs 30 euros, it must be perfect, too thick and the breading wasn't crispy. The lamb was also over 30 euros, almost tasteless and if you were lucky you would get 150g of meat.

I ate fried black pudding with bouillon potatoes. The sauce that went with it was very tasty and the horseradish freshly grated on top tasted great. The service was friendly, we felt comfortable and will come back when we are in Heilbronn and try other dishes too.

Ate roast beef today. Plays at the top in the Champions League. A real culinary delight. Absolutely recommended.

A good restaurant with great regional cuisine. The meat dishes were all top, but the vegetarian tortellini with pumpkin were also excellent! We were very satisfied. The atmosphere is friendly and families with children can also eat well here. We'll be back! And the spaetzle was great!

We had made a reservation, Saturday evening at 7 p.m., and then had to wait 20 minutes for our table. Placed our order at the table and waited 2 hours for the main course! Had lunch there. The food was excellent, the atmosphere was very nice and the staff was very, very nice. However, I deducted one star because of the price structure, especially the high prices for the soups. 9€ for a normal soup is a bit borderline.

There were four of us with a dog today, just great! Great atmosphere, the dog was immediately provided with water, the waitresses were all professionals and super nice! There is nothing wrong with the food and drinks! Price-performance is great! Thank you for the great evening!

It starts in the afternoon at 5 p.m. Heilbronn's favorite dish can do something. Depending on your level of popularity, the boss will greet you with a Bavarian kiss-bussi or “well, you sweeties”. Definitely worth a visit!

We wanted to do something special and the Ratskeller made it possible for us to have a very nice evening. The cuisine is very good but the dessert was really one of the best I've had in a long time.

Le Ratskeller jouit d'une grande renommée dans la ville de Heilbronn, notamment de par sa localisation, au rez-de-chaussée de l'hôtel de ville. Il dispose ainsi non seulement d'une grande salle intérieure, mais également d'une terrasse juste en contrebas de l'horloge astronomique et du carillon, ce qui permet de profiter du spectacle à 20h00 par exemple. La carte est riche, bien que les spécialités régionales se comptent au final sur les doigts d'une main, ce qui est un peu regrettable. Les prix sont relativement élevés, mais la qualité des produits à elle seule ne pourrait les justifier. Ne paierait-on donc pas aussi l'emplacement ? 🤔 D'autant que le service est catastrophique: pas moins de 5 serveuses se sont succédées, dont une qui a renversé une boisson sur l'un des convives sans même qu'un geste commercial ne soit fait derrière, l'attente a été interminable, les plats sont arrivés au compte-gouttes, de sorte que certains convives ont dû manger pendant que les autres attendaient toujours leur plat, sans quoi le leur aurait été froid... Bref, ce n'était pas une grande réussite. Pas sûre donc de réitérer l'expérience ici.

The two of us were in the Ratskeller on a Saturday evening, April 27th, 2024 at 6:00 p.m. The atmosphere is rustic but very nice. However, in terms of ambience, it's not the first choice for a romantic dinner. We chose a Wiener Schnitzel and a Swabian roast. To say it up front: we were very satisfied with both dishes and would give them full points. But the service still has room for improvement. He was certainly always very friendly, but not really available to the guest. The helpful hint to alert the service to refill the glass by shouting loudly actually irritated us and therefore deducted 2 stars.

The host and his family cannot be surpassed in terms of warmth and care. You feel welcome here as a guest. My recommendation to the kitchen, the food is excellent as always. See you next time.

I had already selected my meal from the menu online and was looking forward to it. I was looking forward to the fish dish “Pulpo”. Unfortunately, this was no longer available, as I was told when I ordered. Loup de Mer was offered as an alternative. Unfortunately, I found out on the bill that it was more expensive. I walked out of the restaurant disappointed.

Stylish dinner in the Ratskeller, elegant and classic ambience. Main courses and salad impeccable. You can feel the passion. Heilbronn favorite dish with homemade side dishes, very tasty. Now to the points of criticism: Unfortunately, you can feel that there is a lack of trained staff in the restaurants. In the burger shop you can get over it, in the Ratskeller you would want employees who, for example, pour wine and take comments seriously. Example dessert: Brownie absolutely dry and more like a biscuit. The raspberry sorbet offered could be identified and, above all, tasted as cassis sorbet (unless my senses were deceiving me). When you comment on it you shrug your shoulders, two employees apparently looked at our table and laughed. A waiter came to the table and ironically asked whether the chef should come to the table first. Is this how you want to attract customers into the evening? How do you deal with potential allergies here? No question. These are details. Still disappointing for me personally.

Business function of 10+ people. Slow drinks service, faulty orders. Echos and acoustics poor. Food: Appetizer: Deer liver salad didn't know what it wanted to be. Cranberries, orange slices, walnut, vinaigrette, too much! Main course, filet with morrels sauce: Morrels overwhelmed by beef gravy flavour. Carrots on the side almost unappetizingly coarse. Yellow beet a pleasant find!

Piatto di filetto di agnello con verdure. Arriva il piatto con verdure, abbastanza evidentemente fatta da verdure catering. La salsa era "come al solito" tipo industriale, la carne era salata goffamente con sale grosso distruggendo il gusto. Peraltro la carne era di ottima qualità, era la scarsità del cuoco che faceva la triste differenza. E il contorno (un alquanto misero composto a base di patate), era talmente salato che non ho potuto nemmeno pensare a una consumazione. Il piatto è andato indietro, si deve dire come punto favorevole che non si è insistito farmelo pagare. E questo per uno dei piatti più caro del ristorante che si avvicina a 40 euro. Il personale non è particolarmente fine, con modi abbastanza rilassati e tendono a reagire con solerzia solo in caso di una sola persona, mentre il servizio di per se lascia desiderare. Sembra tutto molto improvvisato, fatto che è in strano contrasto con le velleità di voler apparire di alta gamma. Al aspetto gradevole degli interni con un certo stile dimostrando un tentativo di apparire borghese di qualità, si dimostra assolutamente non all'altezza per quanto riguarda cucina, personale e management (casi multipli da personale esperienza, di overbooking o di tavoli confermati ma non tenuti nonostante arrivati in orario). Porzioni abbondanti (se il cibo è mangiabile) e prezzi alti per la qualità offerta. Non è la prima volta che deludono con il cibo. Ormai da evitare.
