Sehr gutes Essen in wunderschönem Ambiente und ausserordentlich aufmerksamen Service.

Ich bin zwiegespalten, das Essen war hervorragend, der Chef sehr nett und das Ambiente schön, aber... Der Marktplatz von Heilbronn kann atmosphärisch auch mal unschön sein. Für sechs Personen reserviert - für fünf gedeckt, Salat vergessen, Espresso vergessen, Löffel für Suppen vergessen. Kontaktaufnahme zur Bedienung sehr schwer - sind bei den Temperaturen fast verdurstet. Niemand vom Personal hat sich auch nur einmal erkundigt ob wir noch etwas trinken möchten - was für beide Parteien sehr schade war, da wir sonst für wesentlich mehr Umsatz gesorgt hätten. Insgesamt aber, wegen des exzellenten Essens, dem netten Chef und weil der Service an diesem Tag wahrscheinlich nur ein Ausrutscher war, immernoch zu empfehlen.

Wir waren am Freitag mit etwa 25 Personen im separaten Raum des Ratskellers. Die Reservierung hatten wir bereits mehrere Monate im Voraus vorgenommen. Als Gastronom habe ich Verständnis dafür, dass eine Gruppe dieser Größe eine Herausforderung sein kann – mit entsprechendem Vorlauf sollte die Planung von Personal und Abläufen jedoch gut machbar sein. Leider war der Nebenraum mit Equipment für eine Veranstaltung am Folgetag vollgestellt, und während unseres Aufenthalts kamen immer wieder Techniker herein, was die Atmosphäre zusätzlich beeinträchtigt hat. Das Essen war für mich persönlich in Ordnung, allerdings war ein Großteil der Gruppe (ca. 80 %) unzufrieden. Die Spätzle waren wässrig, das Maishähnchen kalt, und insgesamt hätten wir uns für 24 - 30 € größere Portionen gewünscht. Wir waren um 19:30 Uhr vor Ort, die Bestellung wurde erst gegen 20:10 Uhr aufgenommen, und das Essen kam schließlich erst gegen 21:45 Uhr. Die Tische wurden seltsam eingedeckt, gefühlt waren es 4 kleine Servietten statt einer großen Tischdecke. Die Tische waren alle auseinander gestellt als wären wir bei einer Hochzeit und mussten die Tische dann selbständig zusammenstellen. Zudem hatten wir mehrfach den Eindruck, in Vergessenheit geraten zu sein. Es wurde auch nicht nachgefragt, ob alles in Ordnung ist oder ob es Probleme gibt – daher nun diese Bewertung. Insgesamt hatten wir deutlich höhere Erwartungen und werden uns in Zukunft gut überlegen, ob wir noch einmal wiederkommen.

Sehr gut! Wir waren 4 mal da und gerne wieder!

Habe einen Platz bekommen.Nach einer viertelstunde gab es dies erste Frage überhaopt. Ein Getränk kam dann noch aber nach einer dreiviertel Stunde konnte ich immer noch keine Bestellung für ein Essen platzieren obwophl die Kellner gschaftig herumgerannt sind. Aufmwerksamkeit ging gegn Null. Deshalb Null Sterne, leider muß man hier eine Stern anklicken um de Be´wertung zu platzieren. Ich habe das Restaurant ohne Essedn hungrig verlassen. Unten zu bewerten was man bestellt hat und wieviel man ausgegeben hat ist nicht möglich weil ich einfach kein Essen bestellen konnte. Wenn die bedienungen das nicht auf die Reihe bekommen gehe ich eben woanders hin.

Zwiebelrostbraten wirklich immer exzellent. Heilbronner Leibgericht auch sehr lecker. Mittagstisch gut in Bezug auf Preis- Leistungsverhältnis und immer lecker. Service sehr zuvorkommend. Am Wochenende sollte immer reserviert werden.

Ausgezeichnetes Essen! Von der Vorspeise (Mango-Burrata & Marinierter Spargel) über den Hauptgang (Kalbsbäckchen mit Bandnudeln) zum Dessert (Cheescake mit Rhabarberkompott & Schokomousse) war alles hervorragend. Auch der Service 1A, zuvorkommend und alles korrekt. Schönes Ambiente draussen unter der Laube. Einziger kleiner Kritikpunkt: Die Rhabarber waren ziemlich roh/bissfest

(!) Update 10. April 2026 Heute extrem enttäuschendes Erlebnis mit dem Service, nach viel Vorfreude: Seit sich der wunderbar nette (!) Chef offenbar rar macht - und die Stadt Heilbronn selbst gut bezahlende Einkäufer auf rechtlich wackeligem Fundament mithilfe der sogenannten Polizeibehörde aus dem Rathausumfeld weg ekelt - , tja, seither scheint auch der Ratskeller-Mannschaft mglw. etwas zu Kopf zu steigen. Sehr schnippische Reaktion auf meine freundliche Bitte, bei bewõlktem Wetter etwas im bestuhlten, wenn auch nicht eingedeckten Außenbereich essen zu dürfen. Keine Sorge, wir hätten's notfalls selbst raus- und wieder reingetragen. Schade, dass sich die Gastronomie im aufstrebenden Heilbronn solche Schnitzer leistet. Aber auf locker machen..... (Meine erste Rezension bleibt unverändert... Schließlich war bzw. ist das ja wahr... Punkte wurden angepasst....) --------------- Das perfekte gutbürgerliche Restaurant schlechthin. Gäbe es den Ratskeller nicht, dann müsste man ihn erfinden. Küche, Service, Ambiente sind stimmig bis ins kleinste Detail. Die Mannschaft hat sichtlich Freude daran, Gastgeber zu sein. Die Mauern atmen ein authentisches Stück Alt-Heilbronn, ebenso viele Stammgäste, die hier herkommen. Bemerkenswert zwanglos kann man hier sowohl gehoben als auch rustikal auf hohem Level genießen, entspannen und abtauchen.

Sehr gemütlich, toller freundlicher Service, leckeres Essen, was will man mehr.

Ganz lecker, aber kein adäquates Preis/Leistungsverhältnis! Zu teuer für das, was auf den Tisch kommt! Und vom Chef in breitem Heilbronnerisch angequatscht werden, ist einfach nicht mein Ding!

Das Ambiente ist dezent und angenehm. Obwohl wir noch nie hier waren, wurden wir sehr herzlich begrüßt und verabschiedet. Den ganzen Abend war der Service sehr freundlich und aufmerksam. Das Essen ist wirklich ganz hervorragend, sehr gute Qualität der Zutaten und handwerklich top zubereitet. Die Preise sind dem Gebotenem absolut angemessen. Wir gehen ja oft und gerne essen, aber das war sicherlich eines der besten Restaurants, in dem wir je waren.

Ein sehr schönes Restaurant am Hauptplatz. Lage, Service und Essen sind wirklich hervorragend. Auch die Weine sind gut. Wir hatten einen sehr guten Riesling.

Ich fand das Essen sehr gut. Ich hatte den Beilagensalat, das Heilbronner Leibgericht und zwei Kugeln Eis. Das Dressing vom Salat war sehr gut. Auch das Leibgericht war hervorragend, speziell die handgeschabten Spätzle waren sehr gut. Das Eis als Nachtisch hat jedoch leider sehr künstlich geschmeckt.

Obwohl wir ohne Reservierung kamen haben wir einen schönen Tisch bekommen. Der Service war sehr gut und die gewählten Gerichte sehr gut. Der Rostbraten auf den Punkt und zart gebraten. Das Wiener Schnitzel ein Gedicht und das Hirschragout sehr, sehr fein. Wir kommen gerne wieder. Vielen Dank

Das Essen war ausgezeichnet, sehr lecker und auch für das Auge sehr schön zubereitet!

Ruf und Wirklichkeit sind weitgehend in Einklang. Man nimmt nur so viele Gäste, wie man auch bekochen und bedienen kann: sehr gut. Zahlreiche schwäbische Klassiker lassen die Auswahl schwer fallen. Bei mir war es der Sauerbraten mit Spätzle: Spätzle, sehr gut, Soße gut, Fleisch leider ziemlich zäh. Darbietung schön.

Essen, Service und Ambiente von höchster Qualität waren überwältigt von der Qualität obwohl viel Betrieb mussten nicht warten auf Trinken, Essen und Nachspeisen.

Besser geht nicht, Essen absolut perfekt, Service super. Rostbraten und Heilbronner Leibgericht ein Gedicht. Gehobene Preisklasse, Rostbraten 29€, ist aber gerechtfertigt, Qualität und Service perfekt.

Immer noch eine verlässliche Adresse für eine gute Küche zentral in Heilbronn

Der Ratskeller in Heilbronn Verein stilvolles Ambiente, zusammen mit hervorragenden Kundenservice. Kein Wunsch bleibt aus. Ein Besuch des Chefs am Tisch ist ebenso der Fall. Ich war mit meiner Freundin zu ihrem Geburtstag hier. Dies hat sich der Chef auch gemerkt und hat meiner Freundin auch zum Geburtstag gratuliert, leckeres regionales Essen aus der Region Heilbronn, gepaart mit dem Stil und dem Charme der Stadt. Eine absolute Empfehlung für jeden der gerne etwas feiner essen geht. Mitarbeiter sind äußerst freundlich und zuvorkommend. Haben immer ein offenes Ohr, so fühlt man sich als Gast wohl umsorgt.

Yesterday was our first time at the Ratskeller. We had tripe soup and a salad as a starter, followed by the Hauptmann roast beef and Heilbronn's signature dish. We haven't eaten so well in a long time. The meat was incredibly tender, the sauces amazing. Mr. Mosthaf was a wonderful host. He was incredibly welcoming. We will definitely be back. We visited this restaurant for the second time yesterday – unfortunately, our visit was quite disappointing compared to our first. The main problem was the timing: the food arrived, but it got cold because the side dishes were served much later. With six people, the table was also far too small, leaving us with hardly any room for our plates. There were also some negative points regarding the service. The small salad, listed as an appetizer on the menu, arrived only at the very end. When I inquired about it, I was rather rudely told that we hadn't ordered it as an appetizer – in my opinion, they could have at least asked. In total, we were served by three different servers, all of whom seemed very inattentive and overwhelmed, even though the restaurant wasn't even half full. After our very positive first visit, our expectations were high, but unfortunately, they weren't met this time.

We had a lovely and cozy evening at the Ratskeller with delicious food and super friendly service. We had Sauerbraten with homemade spaetzle and tender Tafelspitz. It was really good and lovingly presented. It wasn't cheap, but the quality was good, even if the portions could have been a bit larger. We'll definitely be back; we loved it!

Lovely to sit outside in the summer and enjoy delicious, traditional German food with great service.

Ratskeller in Heilbronn – finally, a restaurant that lives up to its reputation After several rather disappointing experiences in upscale restaurants, I was initially skeptical whether the Ratskeller in Heilbronn would truly live up to its reputation. The deciding factor for my visit was the classic Wiener Schnitzel, served here with original veal – a rarity in the region. Right from the start, a welcome from the kitchen was served: fresh baguette with a delicately seasoned leek cream. The bread was noticeably high quality – crispy on the outside, soft on the inside – and harmonized perfectly with the spicy cream, which was very well-balanced in flavor. A truly successful start to the meal. I officially started with a vitello tonnato as an appetizer, and it was immediately clear that the kitchen knows its craft. The combination of fine meat and the creamy tuna sauce was perfectly balanced. I was particularly impressed by the fresh basil with its intense aroma and the finely chopped vegetables, which gave the dish an extra freshness. The Wiener Schnitzel was the expected highlight of the evening: tender, wafer-thin, and perfectly fried with a light, golden coating, just as you'd expect. As a side dish, I chose homemade spaetzle with gravy, which can be added free of charge upon request. The spaetzle impressed with their irregular shape and authentic flavor—clearly homemade. The sauce was aromatic, robust, and also seemed homemade, with recognizable ingredients and a delicate texture. To finish, I chose a chocolate crème brûlée with lemon sorbet and fresh berries. The bitter note of the crème brûlée contrasted beautifully with the sweet and sour freshness of the sorbet. The berries—including pomegranate seeds—provided fruity accents and a pleasant crunch. A well-thought-out and flavorfully balanced dessert. Overall, the evening was a thoroughly positive surprise for me. The value for money was absolutely spot on, and the service was professional, friendly, and attentive. I also really enjoyed the ambiance—a successful blend of old-fashioned elegance and modernity. Even the wait times were nothing to complain about. For me, the Ratskeller is one of the few upscale restaurants that not only shines with its name and appearance, but also delivers on the plate and in its service. I can recommend it without reservation.

The Ratskeller is always highly recommended. This time we were seated outside. Unfortunately, the tablecloth was dirty, which shouldn't be the case in a restaurant like this. The menu is very small, and the wine selection is modest. My roast beef was good, but not the rump steak. The staff, 100 points, were very friendly and accommodating.

The atmosphere is friendly, the food excellent and freshly cooked; nothing we ordered was pre-prepared. The cutlet, mushrooms, and homemade fettuccine were excellent... We were on a day trip to Heilbronn. The Ratskeller, conveniently located in the center, caught our eye. It had a very nice, shaded terrace. But the interior was also spacious and pleasant. Excellent service: friendly and attentive. Very nice! And the lunch menu was excellent: I had herring with fried potatoes, and my wife had a salad with salmon and pike-perch (it was a Friday). Very tasty and reasonably priced.

The three of us spontaneously went to the Ratskeller without a reservation. We received a very friendly welcome and were immediately given a great table. The food was fantastic, and the service was very friendly and accommodating! A thoroughly enjoyable and enjoyable evening!

We had lunch there. I had a Swabian roast beef with onions and spaetzle, and my wife had a sour cream roast. Everything was delicious! We'll definitely come back next time!

We had a thoroughly enjoyable evening at the Ratskeller Heilbronn! We called spontaneously and still managed to get a table. The start was already promising – the kitchen greeted us with bread and a truly delicious spread, which perfectly whetted our appetites. For starters, I had the beef carpaccio – tender, delicately seasoned, and beautifully presented. My main course, the Wiener veal schnitzel with spaetzle and fried potatoes, was a real treat: crispy on the outside, tender as butter on the inside, the side dishes homemade and perfectly seasoned. The side salad was also fresh and lovingly prepared. I would particularly like to highlight the service: The staff was very friendly and attentive. One gentleman in particular, whom I consider the boss, regularly walked past our table, always had a funny remark on his lips, and created a relaxed and welcoming atmosphere. You could tell the passion they put into their work. I'll definitely be back – a clear recommendation and a full 5 stars!!

I was visiting the city and the Ratskeller was recommended to me. We were a group of five. I can't share their enthusiasm. The wait time from ordering to the main course being served was outrageous. Quality: good. Overall: better restaurant, but not a standout. The table was reserved, so there was no wait.

Classic menu. Friendly, competent service. We enjoyed seasonal asparagus dishes and a savory mousse for dessert. The dishes are perfectly freshly cooked and fried using regional ingredients. Unfortunately, I didn't dare take any photos.

Wir haben auf der Durchreise in Heilbronn übernschtet und haben auch ohne Reservierung einen schönen Tisch bekommen. Die Mitarbeitenden waren alles sehr freundlich und aufmerksam. Die Karte hat eine gute Auswahl an Speisen und Getränken. Das Essen war sehr lecker und vom Geschmack gut abgestimmt. Wir hatten einen sehr schönen Abend. Wenn wir wieder einmal in Heilbronn sind, wissen wir, wohin wir essen gehen werden.

Wir waren mit der Arbeit zum Mittagessen dort. Ich habe ein Wiener Schnitzel mit Bratkartoffeln bestellt. Das Wiener hat nach nichts geschmeckt, die Panade war total fad. Die Bratkartoffeln waren matschig und nicht kross gebraten. Für den Preis von 29€ eine Frechheit. Der Service war leider auch ausbaufähig. Die Dame war kurz angebunden und wenig freundlich. Das Preis-/Leistungsverhältnis passt für mich nicht.

Food was okay but at these prices I expected better quality. If a schnitzel costs 30 euros, it must be perfect, too thick and the breading wasn't crispy. The lamb was also over 30 euros, almost tasteless and if you were lucky you would get 150g of meat.

I ate fried black pudding with bouillon potatoes. The sauce that went with it was very tasty and the horseradish freshly grated on top tasted great. The service was friendly, we felt comfortable and will come back when we are in Heilbronn and try other dishes too.

A good restaurant with great regional cuisine. The meat dishes were all top, but the vegetarian tortellini with pumpkin were also excellent! We were very satisfied. The atmosphere is friendly and families with children can also eat well here. We'll be back! And the spaetzle was great!

I had a very tasty dinner there. The boss played music himself right in between, which was a very funny performance!

Four of us were here for dinner. The food is super delicious. I would like to come here more often if my wallet would allow it. Everything was great, that's how I imagine the gastronomy. Top team, top people, top food.
