The Old Town Hall Cellar is a great restaurant with very tasty and delicious food, especially the head cheese with fried potatoes – simply divine! The beef roulade with red cabbage and dumplings, the beer-braised beef, and the burger were also excellent. The service was very pleasant and friendly; a truly wonderful evening at the Old Town Hall Cellar!

It was absolutely delicious! We were there with a large group, and all the food arrived at the same time. No one had any complaints. I especially recommend the delicious vegetarian risotto; its flavor will stay with me for a long time. The staff was also very friendly and went out of their way to fulfill all our requests.

Everything here is just perfect! The service is quick, warm, and very friendly. There's truly something for everyone on the menu, including vegans. The homemade lemonades are refreshing, especially the lighter options. The prices are also reasonable. Of course, this isn't a cheap restaurant, but the food is fresh and delicious. The ambiance is lovely too; it's a beautiful building. We'll definitely be back!

Delicious food, good service and a beautiful atmosphere

Very friendly and efficient service. They even gave our dog "dog whiskey" and treats. The saffron frozen yogurt is highly recommended.

Unfortunately, our visit was very disappointing. We had to wait several minutes at the entrance before anyone even acknowledged us. After finally getting a table, we sat there for over 20 minutes without anyone checking on us or taking our order – no drinks, not a word, not even a menu. In the end, we left empty-handed. It's a shame, we were really looking forward to it, but this kind of experience is unacceptable.

We had dinner there on October 28, 2025. The food was good and the price was reasonable. But charging four times the normal price for a bottle of wine is really excessive.

Great service, great atmosphere... For the food... 1 point deduction because the fish was drowning in the remoulade, perhaps the remo to decide what to put on it and the fried potatoes were rather mediocre and lukewarm in terms of crispiness... Otherwise everything was top notch

We were passing through and only had about an hour to eat. We arranged it with the friendly staff. They were very understanding and accommodating. We were able to relax and enjoy the delicious food. It was delicious. Homemade remoulade with redfish or aspic with fried potatoes. We'd be happy to come back, with a little more time.

Quaint, historic, fast & very competent service, super delicious food & the price-performance ratio is absolutely perfect 😉 We liked it so much that we ate there two evenings in a row 😋 Reservations are definitely necessary, the restaurant is very busy! If we're in the area, we'll definitely eat at the Ratskeller again. Excellent home-style cooking and regional specialties are a feast for the palate & a feast for the eyes!! In conclusion: a full-on success 🏆 & definitely a clear recommendation 👍

A restaurant that's unfortunately rare these days. Trained staff and service that truly deserves to be called service made our visit a real experience. The food was beautifully presented and delicious. The prices were reasonable and not overly priced. We'd be happy to return! P.S.: They even thought of our dog 👍

We visited the outdoor area at 4:30 pm. After 11 minutes, the server came and brought the memory card. We wanted to order something to drink immediately, but the response was "one moment, please." Then the next table was cleared leisurely, and the lady and we disappeared. We were the only customers, along with one other couple, and the lady seemed completely overwhelmed. Regards

I chose the Thuringian beer-beef for €17, which was price-conscious. The red cabbage and meat with gravy were excellent. I would have expected Thuringian dumplings with it, not croquettes. All in all, though, it was good. The staff was great, and the atmosphere in the Skat City was fantastic.

The food was very good yesterday. The service was questionable.

Unfortunately, German restaurants serving German food are becoming increasingly rare. It's all the more wonderful when the food is delicious and the visit helps to slow the decline of German cuisine and honesty. We went there as a family for lunch. We were politely assigned a table of our choice, and the service was prompt and cheerful. The food was delicious and arrived at the same time. As usual, prices are a bit higher these days in the tax haven of Germany, but that's normal now. We enjoyed our stay and will be back.

A great location, even if you want to explore the surrounding area. Ultimately, we really enjoyed ourselves and were glad we chose the Ratskeller.

I had a leisurely dinner here with my husband for his birthday and spent a few lovely hours together. We had a table outside. From the reservation to the service, everyone was very nice and friendly. The food was very good and delicious. I highly recommend a visit. Thank you!

A great evening with delicious food. We were here for an event at the Gera-Altenburg Theater (Classical Open Air) and enjoyed a menu and drinks. The food was truly delicious 😋, but it also comes at a price. But it's completely justified. The food was of excellent quality, and the selection surprised me. Highly recommended. The service was also excellent and very attentive. Drinks were regularly refilled, and the food arrived almost simultaneously despite the large group. And there was even a second for a quick joke. We really enjoyed it and would love to come back.

It was once again lovely to eat at the Ratskeller. They even had a small gift for the birthday girl and set the table specially. The waiters were fun and very attentive, and the food was, as always, excellent. It's certainly a bit on the expensive side, but it's definitely worth it.

The boiled beef was the worst I've ever eaten in a restaurant; tough and cold. The schnitzel was okay. Waiting at the "You will be seated" sign is completely unnecessary given the number of available seats. Unfortunately, there are hardly any alternatives for lunch.

We celebrated a wedding here. The food was delicious. The servers were always friendly, and the value for money was right. We were allowed to choose in advance which dishes we wanted from the buffet, and we received excellent advice.

The Ratskeller spontaneously had a table available for us. We found the restaurant to be very child-friendly; they provided little bags with puzzles, coloring pages, and crayons for the kids. The children's menu was separate and there was plenty of choice. I wouldn't order the Ranch Burger again, but everything else was top-notch.

Every dish was successful, service was good despite the limited staff. The roasted savoy cabbage was the surprise of the evening. But each of the dishes was successful. The meat was all nice and medium rare with a caramelized crust, the pork was well done but very juicy. For anyone who would like a slightly different but harmonious espresso, order Espresso 43.

You notice it just seconds after entering the restaurant: the people who work here love what they do. We and our little dog were greeted and served with the warmest of hearts. My husband and I shared the appetizer platter. We'd never eaten such a great selection of appetizers before—simply fantastic. The main courses, duck with red cabbage and dumplings, and risotto Milanese with teriyaki chicken in a sesame coating, were equally divine. Full marks, please leave everything as it is.

We were looked after very attentively. We didn't have a reservation...that was considered very brave. Our service lady always had a quick saying on her lips from the greeting to the farewell. Food was awesome. Loin with pointed cabbage and veal schnitzel with peas...both highly recommended. Fantastically seasoned, very hot and great doneness. Thanks to the kitchen crew. The barmaid mixed our drinks very quickly and deliciously. Attention is very important there. We experienced all of that last time too. We really enjoy being there. Other restaurants could learn a lot from this. An unimportant drawback is the very ugly plastic tree on the counter. Otherwise... ...just keep it up. We recommend you.

I have to be honest. I liked the setup that was before. Wanted to give everyone another chance, but the chairs get really hard after a while. I don't like the glass tables at all. The waitress we had, I have to be honest, if I was really friendly sad but true and the food was without an absolute disaster, the one meal was perhaps undercooked? And with mine I looked for things that were minimal. All in all, I'm really very disappointed. It really used to be much, much better and I really enjoyed going there. It was a big disillusionment and, above all, the price-performance ratio isn't really right, but I really need it

Oh, I stopped by the Ratskeller again and, even after Christmas, treated myself to the goose breast with lamb and red cabbage. There was a dish on the offering board. It was super tasty and the plate also came with a carafe of extra sauce. The service was again very nice. Hopefully the next visit won't be long in coming.
