Ratskeller in Meißen

The Ratskeller offers a lovely, traditional ambiance. The food was delicious, and we would return for that alone. However, the service was very slow and not particularly friendly. Each course took a very long time, we weren't asked if we wanted another drink when our glasses were empty, and after asking for the bill, nothing happened repeatedly. We were only able to pay after going to the bar ourselves. In total, we spent almost three hours there for dinner.

Fast, friendly service. Extremely delicious and tastefully presented food.

Unfortunately, we didn't enjoy the meal. The roulade was tough, the red cabbage overcooked and tasteless, and the dumplings were clearly from a packet. Doesn't the chef taste the food? A real shame! The Würzfleisch (seasoned meat) was okay, except the cheese was very crispy.

Friendly staff and a nice atmosphere. Unfortunately, the food was neither particularly tasty nor did the portion justify the high price. I ordered a roll, and it was barely 6 or 7 cm long, like a senior citizen's portion. The dessert for €11 was also an outrage. One scoop of ice cream, a few berries, and then a meringue blob that would have pulled any fillings out of my teeth. We won't be having that again. What a shame...

The pork knuckle I ordered was unfortunately very dry and bland. The beef roulade was very tasty. The service was friendly and attentive. The atmosphere was very good.

We spontaneously stopped for lunch at the Ratskeller in Meissen while passing through. It was Tuesday, so we had spare ribs with a drink as a set meal deal 😄. Very tasty. The char also received high praise 😋. We were lucky enough to eat outside. The staff was very friendly and attentive. The prices weren't too high for the quality. We'll probably be back 😀.

The absolute worst place, they can't even sell you 7 large beers after a polite request... completely overwhelmed staff... unbelievable...

Today was our first time at the Ratskeller, and we were absolutely thrilled. The greeting with hand-signed plates instead of the usual reservation cards was a delightful surprise and brought a smile to our faces. 😍 The value for money was excellent. The vaulted ceilings and decor created a wonderful atmosphere, the service was friendly, and the food completely exceeded our expectations. 💯 A fantastic restaurant – right in the heart of Meissen's beautiful old town – with many little touches that make it stand out and ensure a truly special experience. The dishes are overpriced. The schnitzel with fried potatoes I ordered wasn't even of bad fast-food "quality." The fried potatoes were mushy, completely falling apart, and also terribly salty. A lot of effort, but very little execution!

We ate there on a Sunday with four people and our dog. The food was absolutely delicious. Our dog was warmly welcomed.

We had dinner at the Ratskeller Meißen after our civil wedding. Everything was wonderful. The staff were very friendly, the ambiance was beautiful, the table was beautifully decorated, and most importantly: the food was excellent! We'd love to come back.

Just like Mom. We made a spontaneous detour to Meissen to visit the so-called autumn market. Not so great. But the stop at the Ratskeller was just what we needed. The beef roulade and the lamb were fantastic. The service was very friendly and, despite their busy schedule, also had time for small talk. Very pleasant. We'd love to come back.

Great ambiance. Excellent service and excellent food! Even though it's a Ratskeller, it was still possible to have a conversation at the table when the crowd was very busy. The venison goulash was a dream (it's always difficult for a hunter to order game from a restaurant), but it could have used a bit more meat. The crème brûlée was a feast. I'd go back any time!

We had super friendly and child-friendly staff. We ate the two meat burgers. They were super delicious and tasty. Many greetings from Switzerland.

We had dinner at the Ratskeller Meißen and were truly impressed by the historic, refined ambiance, the friendly service, and, above all, the lovingly prepared food. Everything was just perfect, and it all turned out to be a fantastic evening. I can definitely recommend the Ratsschnitzel, as well as the Meissen Schwerter Kellerbier and the Pilsner. Therefore, a full five stars.

We were immediately greeted warmly and allowed to choose a free table. The waitress was very friendly. There were four of us, and everyone ate something different. Everyone was delighted, both with the look and the taste. The ambiance was fitting for a town hall cellar. Very cozy. We will definitely come back next time we're in the area.

We were here for lunch and sat outside on the lovely terrace. Super friendly and attentive service. The vegetarian sandwich and pumpkin cream soup were delicious and beautifully presented. Reasonably priced.

The first place on the square...reservations are recommended. The menu selection is limited...the food is good, but unfortunately the prices have also become quite high. One criticism is the restrooms...small, old, cramped, and definitely not enough! Cleanliness is okay... It's not appropriate for a place like this...sorry 👎

Good, tasty food. Good portions. There are local beers. We ordered jellied meat (aka kholodets), among other things. I recommend the restaurant to serve the sauce separately and/or add mustard!

The specialties (food and beer) are excellent! Pleasant acoustics thanks to the arched architecture, and thankfully, no music.

We ate here as a family with a toddler and infant. We enjoyed the food, and the service was very friendly and attentive. We found the restaurant to be family-friendly.

It's a really nice and well-located restaurant, but the service was very unfriendly. They forgot to bring the spoons for the milk foam, the dumplings weren't cooked well, and there wasn't much food on the plate for the price. The meat, however, was very good. It's not something you'd want to return to.

Food, service and the night watchman at the door were great.

We stopped by on a Friday with a group of six after 10 p.m. Despite the impending closing time (11 p.m.), we received a very friendly welcome 😅 and were served promptly, allowing us to end the evening in a relaxed manner. Late Saturday afternoon, the two of us returned. Despite many reservations, they still had a spot for us. As on the previous day, the service was commendable. Guests feel very welcome here. The food, the charred chanterelle fillet and beef roulade, were delicious. Even special requests were graciously fulfilled. We thank the team; we'll be happy to come back. 👍

Good food with good value for money. Unfortunately, I can't comment on the interior; the outdoor area is shaded from the sun, and you have to put up with smokers. The service was attentive, good, and exceptionally friendly.

We held a funeral here with eleven people. All of the guests were delighted with the food. We all enjoyed it immensely. The food arrived at the same time for all of the guests. We received excellent service from the waitresses Ms. G., Ms. Z., and Ms. R. Thank you very much.

Lunch during asparagus season was great

We were a group of 17 people and had made a reservation. We ate inside. We felt very comfortable there; the entire staff was friendly and prompt. Everyone enjoyed the food.

We've eaten at the Ratskeller twice now and were absolutely satisfied both times. The service was very friendly and attentive each time, and the food was delicious! The location, right on the market square, is also particularly beautiful. When the weather's nice, you can sit outside and enjoy the atmosphere. We'd love to come back!

The restaurant's outdoor area is fantastic, just what outdoor dining should be. A beautiful view of the Frauenkirche and its porcelain carillon. A wonderful blend of regional, traditional, and modern cuisine. The food was delicious. The selection of regional beers and wines was also impressive, including the helpful advice from the staff. The service was also very good.

We were here for the first time today. I had the Ratsherrenschnitzel, and my wife had ravioli with cream cheese and asparagus. It was an absolute treat 👍👍 very tasty!! The staff were quick and very friendly!

I celebrated my birthday at the Ratskeller Meißen. With 19 people, we were given a private room. The service was very friendly, attentive, and thoughtful. All questions about drinks or the food were explained in detail. The kitchen deserves special praise. All the dishes were served together, were beautifully presented, and very tasty. It was a wonderful evening; we will definitely visit the Ratskeller again soon.

They simply weren't served, bad service.

The food was good to very good. The Ratsherrenschnitzel (€18.90) with fried potatoes and salad (stuffed with chorizo ​​and mountain cheese) tasted really good, but the meat wasn't as tender as it should have been. You had to forcefully cut and bite into it. The prices are unfortunately a bit high. A beer costs at least €5.20, and the food corresponds to that. This is, after all, "the place on the square," right on the market, and it's busy on Sunday evenings. Nevertheless, the wait wasn't long. The people of Meissen apparently believe, not only in this restaurant, that they can charge as much as, and even more than, in the state capital Dresden. And the numerous tourists seem to pay for it. The service and wine recommendation by the restaurant manager, Ralf Schöne, were exemplary. We haven't been served with such politeness and friendliness in a long time. The high prices are worth it. That said: I would come back sometime, but the prices might not make it a regular.

I can't complain. The service was excellent and attentive. The food was delicious. I had asparagus with homemade hollandaise sauce. It was lovely sitting outside in the evening sun. Everything was perfect. Thank you very much.

A rating average of 4.4 does not correspond to my experience. We sat here twice during our stay in Meissen. Once indoors and once on the terrace. Both times we were looked after professionally and were very satisfied with the food and drink. Thanks for the great time!

Very tasty, I had the asparagus spears with hollandaise sauce and potatoes, divine.....Price was ok, there isn't that much asparagus yet. We sat outside in the wonderful weather.

We had a very nice evening with very tasty, fresh food and nice staff. The children were also taken into account and special requests were fulfilled. The waiters were very helpful. The prices are quite high, but a lot of emphasis is placed on local products. In summer there are great seating options on the market square.

We were warmly welcomed and quickly assigned a seat. Drinks came quickly, but we had to wait over an hour for the food. The lentil stuffed peppers were way too soft. A small lettuce snail got into the food. The portion of sweet potato fries consisted almost entirely of small pieces (crumbs). The waitress said she'll pass it on to the kitchen. There was no excuse and we were allowed to pay full price.

The Ratskeller is always worth a visit. We celebrated our 50th birthday there on a Saturday. The food was all very tasty and came very quickly. Service top! We'd love to come back.

Our experience here was anything but special and beautiful! I ordered the rump steak but was served a pork medallion instead??!!. When we asked the waitress if it wasn't pork, she denied it and said they don't have pork on the menu. However, it was clear from the color and taste that the steak was not beef. The “steak” was also far too small for 180 grams. In general, the portions were so small that you wonder whether €15 for a salad with goat cheese on a starter plate is justified…

The menu didn't convince us, the food was okay. Had a small tomato on the plate that didn't look so nice anymore. When I told the waitress I was argued with instead of an apology. I don't have to put up with that as a guest. I won't be going to the Ratskeller again.

First of all, thank you for the culinary cuisine as a guest of friends. This is our third time there and the Müllers enchant us every year. A journey through 7 partner cities of Meißen. Vitry-sur-Seine in France, Arita-chö in Japan, Fellbach in Stuttgart, Corfu in Greece, Litomĕřice in the Czech Republic, Provo in the USA and Legnica in Poland. Each course will be briefly explained by the chefs, preparation and origin. We are already looking forward to next year. We'll try to come over like this this year. Of course we book a table in advance. Big respect to the 3 apprentices who served us and the other guests last night.

I can only recommend the Müller restaurants in Meißen. When I visit the wine city, I always choose one of the restaurants. The food and drink menu doesn't make choosing easy. On my last visits to the Ratskeller, I chose one of the weekday dishes on offer and was always completely satisfied. There is no favorite for me, they are all recommended. This is matched by the excellent and attentive service from the moment you enter to the moment you leave. Since tipping is not possible with card payments, all very satisfied guests should use their cash. I would also like to praise the problem-free choice of seating as a single guest. That's not the case everywhere - thank you.

A great house, that's how gastronomy should be. Nice mix of regional, traditional and modern dishes. All very tasty. Large selection of regional beers and wines. The service was also very good.

Great, even if you just want to go for a drink there is a place for you

Unfortunately we won't be coming back here again. The staff was in a bad mood and we clearly felt this. When we asked in a friendly manner whether our tea was still coming after all the other orders had already arrived, the waitress whispered to us that she only had two hands. We were very surprised and didn't feel welcome. The food was good, but the prices are relatively high for the small portions. The ambience was nice, but was clearly dampened by the mood of the waitresses. Too bad. We recommend more professionalism in dealing with customers. Luckily there are other good places in Meißen.

Sunday evening 5:30 p.m. Restaurant moderately busy. Attempted seating allocation on the grounds that there could be six more guests who would then need the selected table. “There are only two of you…” Yo Sister… now we are down to nothing and we are spending our money in a very excellent restaurant with free choice of seating.

We visited this restaurant twice and were impressed each time. Top service, great ambience and great food. When we are in Meißen again we go to the Ratskeller.

This is a typical Ratskeller with a vaulted ceiling and dark interior. As soon as we walked in we were greeted with friendly service. That was very pleasant. Luckily we got a table even without a reservation. We enjoyed our traditional Christmas dinner. We'll definitely come back.

Great place, the Ratskeller in Meißen, and if it weren't for the unfriendly service, you could enjoy it. The kitchen was perfect, Vinzenz Richter's wine was perfect, the service was subpar and unfortunately ruined everything. I didn't like the lamps, the waitress told me it was the boss's fault when I asked. At the beginning I asked if it would be ok if I brought some bread and cheese from home in my hand, it was ok. Later the wait staff commented that I had brought sausage - can't they tell the difference between bread and sausage? - I photographed it for Mr. Müller, the boss, and he probably knows Mr. Jörg Besser as the former city councilor of Meißen and me as the managing director of Hotel Schlossberg Meißen in bad times. The staff doesn't even know the area around Meißen within a 100 m radius. What can you say about that. The chef can't help it! He has his kitchen under control. But the boss didn't have his waiters/waiters, except the TRAINEES, she was able to answer my question very quickly about the receipt for cash payment. Of course there were no tips for this service. The cellar staff should have understood beforehand that the customer is also paying their future salary! The staff then threw me out, but then held back after paying in cash!
