Ratskeller in Meißen

We were here for lunch which was park of excursion on the Viking river cruise to visit the city, the porcelain factory and museum also the Christmas market! Lunch was a set menu, consistent, with pumpkin and ginger cream soup, some sort of a chicken dish, which I don’t know and the Mulberry dessert! The atmosphere of the restaurant is very nice. Specially the service all the waiter and waitress are very nice. They come to our table a couple times to ask what we like to drink also quickly refill our drinks glasses! This restaurant also next to the churches also next of the market! I wish the best for this restaurant. You’ve God permit my wife and I visit this city again. I would love to come back to have a meal’

We had a really nice Christmas party with you yesterday, December 9, 2024, and it was better than last year. As a starter I had the spicy meat, which was simply delicious, and of course the only true Worcestershire sauce “Dresden style”. As a main course the burger with normal fries, to be honest I like going to Burger King but this burger is not worth comparing because it is in a completely different league. Very cool 🤩. For dessert, the creme brulee is a poem 🔥. The whole thing was rounded off by the super nice people who served us and always had a smile on their faces, even if Ralf unfortunately couldn't find the long tube 😉 for the apricot, combined with the Christmas market (where, by the way, the mulled wine in front of the restaurant was also very tasty is) a really nice evening with my colleagues. Thanks to the team and the kitchen ❤️‍🔥

My visit here was as part of a company trip. The order was placed in advance by telephone and was implemented smoothly. When we arrived the tables were reserved and the food was served after a minimal wait. Big praise, that doesn't work everywhere! I ordered the Ratsherrenschnitzel and found it really tasty! The portion size was also good. The atmosphere was pleasant and the toilets were clean. Conclusion: Recommended!

Very nice gastronomy in Meißen. Great selection and great taste. The service is also at a top level. The arrangements made in advance with the restaurant worked really well. I can only recommend it.

Food weak, tasted warmed up. Simply too expensive for this quality. I've eaten better at the snack bar. The service is arrogant and not necessarily up to date when it comes to the dishes on offer. I don't have to have it again.

Today we unfortunately had a very disappointing lunch in the Ratskeller. We ordered the "ox cheeks with spaetzle and mushrooms" but what we got was just boiled beef that was very fatty and had absolutely no flavor. The sauce had the consistency of water and lacked any seasoning. The only edible thing on the plate was the spaetzle, which was somewhat okay. We returned most of our food as it really wasn't edible. Unfortunately, our feedback from the service did not lead to a friendly reaction - on the contrary, we felt treated rather unwelcome. After this disappointing experience, we are sure that we will not pay the Ratskeller another visit. Shame about the wasted lunch and the unpleasant service. 😡

Very friendly staff with a taste for work clothing from Engelbert Strauss👍🏻 The beef roulade was not dry and well seasoned. In the end, it's not just the relaxed ambience that's convincing, but also the best Eierschecke in Saxony. Thank you for the lovely evening🍻

Super delicious food, friendly service

This is the first house in the area and the service knows it too. You can sit in the sun from early spring to late autumn and experience the foundations of the impressive Meissen town hall in the original from 1471. The cuisine is creatively German-rustic and is particularly recommended for alternatives to classic knuckle food.

Everything was right here, price-performance ratio was right, friendly, super fast service.

We visited the restaurant during the dead season (mid-November), but there were a lot of customers there. Regional atmosphere, plenty of tables and an interesting menu. We ordered soup and tartare, and delicious local beer. The service was top notch, the food was very good, but the portions were terribly small... in short, it was tasty, but we weren't full

The food was good to very good. The Ratsherrenschnitzel for €18.90 with fried potatoes and salad (filled with chorizo ​​and mountain cheese) tasted really good, but the meat wasn't as soft as it should be. You had to cut and bite it with force. Unfortunately the prices are a bit high. A beer at least €5.20, the meal accordingly. This is just "the house on the square", on the market, and well attended on Sunday evenings. Still, the wait wasn't long. The people of Meißen believe that they can charge as much as and more than in the state capital Dresden, not just in this restaurant. And the numerous tourists apparently pay for it. The service and wine recommendations from the restaurant manager Ralf Schöne were exemplary. We haven't been treated so politely and friendly for a long time. You also have to accept the high prices. That means: I would come again, but it couldn't become a regular place because of the prices.

Service and atmosphere was good but the food was unfortunately not up to the mark.

I was cycling and just wanted fries - the waiter had it under control - before I sat outside the super tasty fries arrived! Great service!

We were rebooked here from the cathedral cellar and as compensation there was a delicious champagne on the house. Service was very friendly and tried hard despite the full house. Food delicious, menu varied. Prices fair.

We spent a great evening in the Ratskeller. All food and drinks exceeded our expectations. It's been a long time since I've had such a good sirloin steak. The wine list was very comprehensive.

Stopped in spontaneously with 6 people, received a friendly welcome and got a table straight away, despite numerous reservations. There was a menu for the children to color in, as well as pens, of course. Huge plus point for being child-friendly. Ambience very rustic and yet modern. Choice of food is definitely sufficient. The food is beautifully presented and really fills you up. Prices are very reasonable these days. All in all, a great restaurant, with fine dining. Keep it up.

We were a group of 11 people and visited the Ratskeller in Meissen on the recommendation of the city bus driver Axel. We received a very friendly welcome and places were created especially for us. The ambience, the service and the food were great and we felt very comfortable. People still cook here themselves. There were, among other things, handmade beef roulades and red cabbage that tasted like a mother's. We will remember this restaurant fondly and recommend it to others.

We were in the Ratskeller yesterday, Saturday, August 24th, 2024 at around 8:15 p.m. The waiter outside then informed us that the kitchen closed at 9 p.m. OK. It was also strange because I still got something to eat just before 10 p.m. the day before. The food was great, no complaints. At 9:30 p.m. the waiter started stacking the chairs on top of each other at the next tables where no one was sitting at the moment so that no one could sit down there anymore. Opening hours yesterday until 11 p.m.!!! You feel like, drink up, pay and leave. We think it's completely wrong. Maybe the service needs to be improved a bit.

We were here as a group, were given a table straight away, were served quickly by very friendly staff and the food tasted very good. My beef roulade was very tasty. The ambience in such an old, venerable building is also very nice. We'd love to come back.

A lovely place in Meißen serving good size portions of tasty food (we had herrings in an apple and yoghurt sauce with potatoes and generous salad - delicious and generous), and locally brewed beer. Service was excellent. Seating outside facing the square was a nice spot - there was also a lot of tables available in the square itself that were popular. One star lost on atmosphere because of the impact of other people’s smoke from other tables drifting across us - not something the restaurant can control.

Was here on vacation with my girlfriend. We went out for dinner in the evening and ordered the lamb shank and the stuffed pork schnitzel. Unfortunately the order wasn't placed correctly, but was then made up for with a small snack. The food and ambience in general were very appealing. The portions were reasonable, I can particularly recommend the lamb shank.

Enjoyed fine family lunch during our German roadtrip. Excelent service and superb food. Fish is very interesting, beef is great. nice selaction of beer and wine.

I spent a very nice evening with my wife. Unfortunately all the seats on the outside terrace were occupied, so we got a table inside. In the end it was the right decision. Because outside, even under the umbrella, it would have been too warm. At first I had the feeling that the waitress wouldn't be happy that she now had to serve inside. That fell apart very quickly. She was extremely polite. About the kitchen: fantastic, excellent and extremely tasty. I should know, I come from the catering industry. All in all, it was a successful evening. It was exactly the right place for a cold beer on the market square late at night. Friendly service and a good selection of drinks!

Didn't get to eat at this restaurant. We were greeted by unfriendly staff, so we chose to take our seats ourselves. After bringing the menu, we wanted to order drinks right away, but the waitress didn't take the order because we couldn't communicate - we speak English, she only speaks German. We thought he would call another waiter, but after some time he came to us again and asked us to place our order. We couldn't communicate again, and when I asked if he could speak English, he turned and walked away. We also got up and left. It's strange, but a tourist place, the town center and such service - I didn't ask to speak Lithuanian! Very bad - I do not recommend it.

I was here today with my family. The food was very delicious, I had the burger with the sweet potato fries and it was just a treat. My family also loved the food. I will definitely come back here again.

Value for money is right. It's nice to sit outside in the summer. There is something for every taste, whether with or without meat.

We chose the fillet steak twice at the table. Both meals were only warm at best, some of the side dishes were only lukewarm (kaiser peas). Plates weren't warmed up or were already cold again. My counterpart's steak was too far through and out of the fillet head even to be well done (tender), mine was still too bloody for medium (but ok for me) and the meat structure was generally quite firm. So there could be no talk of a “loose fiber structure” as described on the card. If you consider that you pay just under €40 for a fillet steak with two side dishes, then the price/performance ratio is pretty bad. For the price I expect a perfect meal. Friday evening, pretty full, service OK.

Price and performance did not match here. The service seemed rushed, despite there being fewer guests. The portions were manageable despite the high price. The meat of the burger was still raw and the fries were extremely greasy.

A taste of Meissen in the “Rastkeller” I had the pleasure of visiting the “Rastkeller” restaurant in Meissen and I can safely say that it was a culinary experience. Here are my impressions: Ambiance and cleanliness: The “Rastkeller” exudes a cozy atmosphere, with lots of wood and friendly furnishings. Everything was spotlessly clean and the tablecloths were freshly ironed. It was welcoming and the perfect place for a relaxed dinner. The food: I ordered the lamb shank and a beer (Elbsommer). The lamb shank was tender, juicy and covered in a rich sauce. The spices were perfectly balanced and the meat melted in your mouth. The beer was refreshing and went great with the dish. The service: The staff was extremely friendly and attentive. They took the time to answer my questions and even recommended a wine pairing. Conclusion: The “Rastkeller” in Meißen is a hidden gem for anyone who loves German cuisine. I can highly recommend it!

Das Essen kann ich nicht bewerten. Wir wurden unhöflich und absolut unfreundlich am Eingang abgefertigt! Auch wenn keine Plätze frei sind erwarte ich eine angemessene Antwort und nicht ein Satz „ haben sie nicht reserviert, da was suchen sie hier!“

Eat good, good, friendly, fast service nice atmosphere with opportunities to sit outside. Cars are also allowed to drive across the square and that's a bit annoying (there weren't many of them). Nevertheless, I felt very comfortable there, even with the view of the Meissen Frauenkirche and its beautiful porcelain carillon.

Four of us recently went to the restaurant for lunch. Everything was very tasty and, above all, plentiful. Here you get something for your money :-) The service was ok in terms of friendliness, but there is still room for improvement ;-)

Had dinner there on the recommendation of our guesthouse. A reservation in advance definitely makes sense. Service was very friendly and quick, food was very good, several vegetarian/vegan options, the price was okay for old town standards. Happy to come back!

For the first house on the site, the food was terribly bad. Raw potatoes were definitely warmed up 3 times... Schnitzel with cheese filling was definitely a ready-made product or frying pan......Never again

Had dinner here again today after a long time. Service as usual friendly and accommodating. But now a big BUT: wild herb salad with goat's cream cheese - the portion seems to have been halved since the last visit and the taste is only mh instead of wow 🤷‍♂️ The Saxon beef roulade I ordered was bland and dry, as were the potatoes (my own request instead of dumplings) were unsalted! Therefore I only give four stars based on our last visit and the hope of finding our way back to the old kitchen! Ultimately, everyone has to form their own opinion, because as we all know, tastes are different 🙋‍♂️

Nice restaurant with pleasant service. On Tuesdays, Wednesdays and Thursdays, a daily offer with a drink included. Roast ribs on Tuesday. She was very good. Seating in the garden with a nice view of the square.

In Poland, a small rain comes from a big cloud. We expected something really cool, but it turned out so bad that we are at a loss for words. The food may be the strong point of this place (a very good panna cota, a good salad with mango and asparagus and a large selection of local drinks - this is a plus. However, the whole thing was spoiled by the service - we felt like an intruder, we were served with reluctance, we had to wait a long time for someone to... I think that not everyone has to order a two-course dinner with dessert to be served decently. The prices are not low, which should reflect the quality and level of the place.

Best service. Great delicious food and very good beer! Reasonable price. A must when in Miessen.

Situated next to the Council building is this neat restaurant.As the council officials use it the food is tasty, good local beer, nice square to sit in and watch the populace pass by. Service fast, staff helpful.

Spring is of course asparagus season, and then the Ratskeller also has an asparagus menu. So we don't like to choose classics, but tried the asparagus salad with mango and the beef tongue with butter asparagus. Everything was very nice, the service was friendly and prompt. The atmosphere was cozy, despite the facility being only around 10 years old. No trace of the former HO restaurant at price level 3!

We were passing through and found ourselves in a friendliness paradise. WOW! We were amazed by the professionalism and kindness of the entire crew. Even the trainee in her second year of training (unfortunately I didn't remember her name) was as friendly and attentive as I have rarely seen. The food was lovingly prepared, even the vegan dishes were chosen with heart (e.g. pointed peppers filled with delicious lentils). Absolute recommendation. Dr. Petra Volz

We had dinner with you two days ago and have to say that it wasn't nice to see how the trainee was treated. She did a very good job and always had a smile on her face even though she was treated badly on several occasions. You should rather appreciate that young people are still interested in the profession.
