Hello, I had dinner with my family at the Elbtalschmiede today at 12:30 p.m. Our order was taken at 12:45 p.m. After about 25 minutes, the starter arrived; it was just tomato soup. At about 1:50 p.m., the main course arrived, which consisted of two salads, a burger, and a schnitzel with fried potatoes. Except for the schnitzel and the burger, the other dishes weren't that elaborate to prepare. Furthermore, the salad was very heavily seasoned and the fried potatoes were very soft. Hence my question: why did it take so long? It was certainly the weekend and the crowds were very busy. Wouldn't it be more appropriate to hire more staff then? Rather than dismissing a review the way you did with most of the negative reviews. I spent a lot of money on this meal, and we had to wait a very long time for it. Unfortunately, I had to decide today that accurate criticism is not welcome. Furthermore, the meat in the salad was extremely heavily seasoned. I think your ban from the premises is entirely justified; I even wrote a review. What cloud are you floating on? What a shame!!!

Everyone has to decide for themselves whether a second visit is worth it. 4 adults, 1 infant 1 tomato soup 2 salads 1 burger 1 schnitzel, fried potatoes, mixed salad; all carelessly served on one plate. Wait time: 85 minutes! As we were about to leave, the food arrived. Lucky for the owner. A second chance is questionable.

The location, right on the Elbe River, is truly stunning. The restaurant is a lovely little house with a cozy terrace, and the staff was very friendly. We didn't have to wait long for our food to arrive. Unfortunately, the food is just standard German fare. The tomato soup, the spicy meat, the goat cheese salad, the brawn, and even the lava cake that followed were all okay. Unfortunately, it lacks that final touch to call it delicious.

Since it reopened, I've really recommended it highly! The food was very fresh and delicious, and served very quickly despite the high volume. The service staff was also very friendly and attentive, and the prices were completely reasonable. The ambiance has always been very charming, and the view of the Elbe River is inviting. We'll be back!

After sightseeing in Meissen, I started reading Google reviews. I'd been to similar riverside restaurants in Belgium and France, so when I saw the restaurant's elevated terrace seating, I knew I'd found the right choice. It took a while for my order to arrive, but the food was carefully prepared and delicious. I think it was probably semi-processed, but I was satisfied. Above all, the view of the river and cyclists was fantastic. Although it's on the side of the road, it's quiet with almost no traffic. They don't accept Mastercard or Visa cards. I was relieved to have cash on me.

A beautiful new restaurant located directly on the Elbe River. The Elbe Cycle Path is just a few meters away. When the weather's nice, there's plenty of seating on the terrace and in the beer garden.

Four of us spontaneously went to the Elbtalschmiede for dinner today, and all four of us were extremely satisfied. The menu offers a good selection of dishes, and the wine is regional. Found this great location by chance today. (Almost opposite the Elbe (but without a direct view of the water). All the tables outside were half full, while the inside was completely empty. Unfortunately, we only accept reservations... they didn't want our money 🤷‍♀️) Luckily for the "Elbtalschmiede"!!! 🫠😁 Great atmosphere with a wonderful view of the Elbe! Very friendly staff, including the chef! The food was amazing, and at normal, moderate prices! My husband was so impressed that he had to personally share his positive feedback with the waitresses and the chef. 🫠😁👌👍 Highly recommended!!! We'd go back anytime! It's not directly near us, but if we ever find ourselves in this area again, this restaurant is an absolute MUST!!!👌👍 Regarding the following question about whether there are seats at the bar or the counter - I couldn't really see this due to the amazing weather (sitting outside), but I'm sure there were/are some.

We ate there a few days ago. Even from the outside, the restaurant looked very inviting and well-kept. There's a seating area with beer tables for a quick pit stop for cyclists and a very nice terrace with a wonderful view of the Elbe... fantastic. You don't have to wait and the very friendly service was there straight away. The menu is excellent and there's something for everyone. The food is delicious and lovingly prepared. I would give it 10 stars. The price/performance ratio is great. The service is very friendly and attentive. The team seems to be very young. Everything inside is also very tidy and clean. We dropped in unannounced for the holiday with 7 adults, 1 toddler, and 2 babies, including our dog. The service was extremely friendly, and despite our small overcrowding, we found a very comfortable spot for everyone. The food was excellent, there was something for every taste, and the value for money was right. The missing changing table was improvised so that every need was met. The restroom was clean, the dog was happy with his water bowl, and the atmosphere was very warm. Keep up the good work. We'll be happy to recommend you and will be back very soon. :-)

Today, on Whit Monday, we happened to pass by and got a seat on the terrace. We were served quickly, and the weather and food were delicious.

With a view of the Elbe River, you can enjoy excellent food and drinks here at reasonable prices. The hotel has been under new ownership since May 2025. A great start! We'd love to come back.

Fast and very friendly service, highly recommended.

Three of us were there today and were very, very impressed. The terrace is a great place to relax, with a fantastic view of the Elbe. The Quarkkeulchen (a kind of quark dumplings) are highly recommended, and the wines are delicious. The atmosphere is very cozy, both inside and out. Tastefully decorated, beautifully set tables, extremely prompt and friendly service. There's another dining room upstairs, ideal for a private celebration like a birthday or something similar. We'll definitely be back soon!

We ate here last night with our two children. A really great location, and the food was excellent. The prices are perfectly reasonable for the quality of the food. There's a playground and a trampoline for the kids. You can also park right in the courtyard. And again, the food was excellent.

Unfortunately, the finely seasoned, homemade aspic wasn't homemade, but a ready-made product. A little tip... heat up the block aspic and pour it into cups... it will look more like homemade. The supposedly crispy fried potatoes were swimming in oil and crispy... not a trace. Perhaps spice them up with a little salt, pepper, and marjoram, then at least they'll have some flavor. The aromatic remoulade was "refined" with carrots and came from a tube... the only thing that was homemade was the salad. For a hefty €15.60, I expected more... too bad, this visit will probably be my last to this dining establishment.

Once and never again! My husband and I were at the Elbtalschmiede on Sunday, September 22nd, 2024 and were very disappointed! The staff barely understood us, seemed completely overworked, the food was totally overpriced for the taste, the hamburger was burnt, the fries were bland and dry, the potatoes were black and we waited for over an hour...we're willing to wait if it tastes good and is freshly prepared...but that's far from it! Nobody sees us there anymore - what a shame! Ambience good - but that's it!

We were there on Saturday August 31, 24 and ate there. The location is very nice. Great view of the Elbe from the terrace The food is or was miserable. In the last 4 years, including the company canteen, I have never received this type of food. For such a price you have to expect more. Taste was subterranean. We all only ate half, if at all. The hunger was stronger. My wife had problems with her stomach and intestines the whole day afterwards. For the life of me I can't understand all the good reviews. The pictures don't make sense to me - the chef probably changed or was sick. For me and my family one thing is certain: We don't come here anymore. No recommendation and advice to go somewhere else. You can expect much more here. We drove home sad, hungry and sick.

We stopped for lunch on a bike ride. Matjes and burgers were very tasty. The juice spritzers too. The meal took a while, but it was really worth it. I can highly recommend it.

Very nice view of the Elbe, it's great to drink. Food is miserable. The goat cheese with salad and bread consisted mainly of toast and beetroot from a jar, the tarte flambée dough was a ready-made wrap and the tomato soup had no taste.

Location, ambience in the restaurant and service are really good. When it comes to food, the price/performance ratio is not right for me. The food and do has nothing to do with the home cooking mentioned. The menu is very manageable, there is nothing for vegetarians except salad.

Hello! I would like to add the following to Mr. Junghans' review from July 15, 2024. The fact that we reserved online is true, as I made the reservation myself and received confirmation from you by email with the words “Good evening, I am saving your reservation. Greetings (see photo). We also showed these to the staff. The staff was friendly, but completely overwhelmed by the situation. Although there were few guests, with our group (12 people) around 25, we waited almost 11/2 hours for the food. Using Google Translate (the staff spoke German poorly) we were informed that they apologized for the long waiting time and that there was a discount for it. This was no longer mentioned when paying. All guests who came after 7 p.m. were sent away on the grounds that the kitchen had already closed, although the restaurant didn't close until 9 p.m. Overall, we were very disappointed and won't be returning there any time soon.

We had reserved online, via email with confirmation, which apparently wasn't registered in the restaurant. After we had put together tables and familiarized ourselves with the menu, which was full of spelling errors, we had to wait over an hour for the food. During this time, at least 6 families were sent away because the kitchen was supposedly closed 1 1/2 hours before the actual closing time. After a waitress promised us a discount using Google Translate due to the long waiting time, our food arrived. The portions were very small, burnt and didn't have much in common with the expected food. The preparation time is also absolutely not justified for a schnitzel or a matjes, which are so tiny and short that you hardly get full!!! Last but not least, we didn't get any discounts. It should be mentioned that the prices for this service are almost outrageous. Absolutely not recommended!!!

We were in the Elbtalschmiede for the first time and were thrilled. The ambience and service are great, it's just stupid that you can't pay with an EC card.

Very courteous service and atmospheric ambience with a great view of the Elbe. The food was also very good. Authentic Bigos with Kiełbaski (sausages) and beef absolutely delicious. Admittedly the place isn't exactly cheap, but it's something special. Only paying in cash wasn't a problem for me.

Food very good, service and ambience also OK. The side salad was very, very tasty!! However, card payments directly at the entrance are excluded here. I find it very special that the defect in the card reading terminal is mentioned directly in the menu - I have never experienced that before. So all we could do was scrape together our cash, drink water and save on tips. We all know why card payments are not possible here.

The plan was to have a leisurely lunch with my daughter. Unfortunately, both dishes (baked chicken, schnitzel) were totally over salted. We then asked the waitress to come to the table and explained to her the unsuccessful meal. I asked for another dish which was simply ignored. The “service person” came back after a minute and just replied “Sorry from the kitchen”! At the same time, I noticed a couple having problems with their payment. There was no indication anywhere that EC card payments were not possible. They didn't have enough cash and I offered to pay €10 in cash in exchange for a Paypal payment. The next surprise came with the payment. When the bill was presented, I politely asked for a discount because of the oversalted cooking. The lady then disappeared again and came back shortly afterwards and said, “There is no discount because we have already eaten some of the meat”. We paid and left the place disappointed. I can only advise against this juice shop!!! Mistakes can happen anywhere, but the fact that you, as a paying customer/tourist, are ignored like this is simply unbelievable. I will advise everyone in my circle of friends not to go to this place. P.S. Dear owner, I didn't finish the small portion and I'm not a cheater either. We didn't want anything for free and even gave the service person a tip. Luckily I had witnesses. Good luck for continued success!

Nice restaurant with actually nice service. Unfortunately the food wasn't it. The Polish dish was actually chicken stuffed with cheese. It was probably supposed to be a special way of preparation, as it was served breaded in the form of a pointed cocoon. Unfortunately it was the bare industrial breading and completely dry and hard. The moisture from the coleslaw made it easy to eat. I would even go so far as to say that apart from the fried potatoes, everything in my food was ready-to-cook and industrially produced. Plus, it shouldn't be a problem to switch from fries to fried potatoes at a price of €22. I could do it too but it cost another €2. That's petty at this price. I just expected better cuisine. My partner's Rostbrätl was also dry meat and not what you normally make Rostbrätl from. A pity. The dishes are priced between €17-24, so you shouldn't just use them from the freezer. The only annoying thing was that the waitress couldn't handle our honest answer to her question about whether it was good and everything was OK.... She got a bit snappy and even sent someone else to collect the money.

Ein tolles Restaurant , sehr nette und zuvorkommende Bedienung , schmackhafte Getränke - Eigenkreationen und ein perfektes Essen. Die Entenbrust war auf den Punkt perfekt und mehr als reichlich. In diesem Sinne auch ein sehr gutes Preis - Leistungsverhältnis. Wir können es nur empfehlen. Der Ausflug lohnt sich.
