I've been all over the world and tried uncountable Thai Restaurants . I've been living in Thailand and an experienced Thai Foodchef myself but what i've experienced at Rambutan is a nightmare for every Thai Foodlover. First of all the staff is very unfriendly and everything is handled in a rush. When you want to eat outside you've to pay in advance. All the food is cold but the worst thing is the taste. I wonder how authentic thai dishes like larb moo can be f... up. All thai know how to make this and how the real taste should be. Only at Rambutan not. I can continue for all the dishes we had but i dont want to spent another minute on negative thoughts. Please take it from the expert : Stay away here.

Very colorful Thai restaurant, with good food and interesting ambience. There was relatively little going on when we were there, so getting a spot wasn't a problem. Recommendation from me.

A small, colorful restaurant. With lots of colorful artificial flowers. It seems cheerful and certainly not boring. The service is always nice and we always like the food there. I think the prices are cheap for Garmisch standards. I was also allowed to take my dog ​​into the restaurant. Just try it. Because my taste doesn’t have to be yours 😉

A very nice restaurant with great food.

The food on offer is tasty, but nothing exceptional. Just what you would expect in an average Thai restaurant in the Bavarian countryside. The whole shop is stuffed with artificial flowers - well, a matter of taste, although it must be a hell of a job to keep this jungle clean. But it is actually clean. The service, which is probably carried out by the lady of the house, does not seem very warm, rather distant to cold, often inattentive or simply not physically present. The drink prices are tough - always check the menu beforehand. A 0.4l wine spritzer for €8.20 is certainly an announcement, as are cocktails (approx. 0.25l - glass had no calibration mark), whose main ingredient was ice, for just under €15.

Food is my taste top, service neutral, atmosphere I love Buddha figures but so much art flowers. Total 7 (1 to 10)

the flowers are a disaster, it feels like a cemetery, the boss doesn’t smile, the gin and tonic is undrinkable! 🤢🤮 don't go to this restaurant, I've never seen this in my entire life and I'm 55 years old.... I don't even know how it's still open!!!!

It's always a pleasure to eat here! Very nice service, pleasant atmosphere with beautiful flowers and pretty traditional decoration. I personally recommend the breaded lobster crabs, they are actually the best breaded lobster crabs I have ever eaten!!

Very nice restaurant with a great ambience and good, authentic Thai cuisine. I cannot understand the experiences of some negative reviewers who complained about supposedly poor service. Very nice, professional waiters and really above-average fast service. 11/10

The food was super delicious!! I wasn't entirely sure before I went because the reviews were "bad" but they were all a big lie. The food tasted great, the service was super fast and friendly (didn't talk much but very professional and nice) The restaurant is also very nicely decorated and the music fits well so that you can have a very comfortable conversation.

The Rhambutan is a little break in a very flowery but authentic Thai restaurant. The food was absolutely first class and truly Thai. It was our first time here and we couldn't get enough of the colorful floral decorations and Thai accessories. Even if the decor may not appeal to everyone, the food is really great and everyone will enjoy it :-D We will come back here on our next stay in Garmisch :-)

This is the first time I’ve ever felt unable to leave a tip at a restaurant. The food was bad, and the middle-aged waitress was exceptionally rude. As a Thai myself, I can say that this is not authentic Thai food. Despite the relatively cheap prices for Asian food in Europe, our priority is quality food and decent customer service.

The food was great, the service too. The interior is very lavish and has artificial flowers, which I'm not a fan of, but that shouldn't be assessed. Finally, after eating, we were given a glass of wine to taste. Great, I highly recommend it to anyone who likes Asian cuisine 😊

Three of us ate dinner and I asked the two people I was with to rate it. We also have eaten all over the world. They both said a 2. I said a 3. The empty plate is my crispy duck with fried rice. Their fried rice was bomb! It was one of the best I’ve had. We all agree that the fried rice is special. The pad thai we shared was hands down junk. And we never waste food. The plate on its own on the photo was suppose to be sweet and sour sauce. Worst we all tasted. And we’re all from dift parts of the world and we know our Asian cuisine. Waitress didn’t help.

We ate there a few times during our stay in Garmisch. The first night they were extremely friendly. The food was always good. We had a chance to order quite a few dishes since overall we were 10 people and ate there at least 3 times. The service was slow and a bit sloppy most of the time, but the waiter was nice for the most part. The only big issue we had is one night we were there with out 10 month old baby and at the end of the meal the waiter asked us to be more careful about spilling food (which anyone with kids knows is a bit difficult a task for a 10 month old). He was out of line but he is also a very young (maybe early 20s at most) adult and doesn't know much about having kids for sure.

No fresh vegetables, and very rude service.

Wir hatten irgendetwas zum Essen gesucht, hier gab es auch noch einen Parkplatz in der Nachbarschaft, also sind wir eher zufällig hier gelandet. Die üppige Dekoration ist etwas gewöhnungsbedürftig. Die freundliche Bedienung brachte sehr schnell die riesige Speisenkarte, die vom Umfang auf ein Asis-Style-Bausteinsystem schließen lässt, was nicht per se schlecht ist. Das Essen kam sehr schnell, war frisch zubereitet und wohlschmeckend mit einer ordentlichen Portion Reis. Thailändisch war das allerdings nicht, sondern eben Asia-Style und preislich völlig in Ordnung. Weil alles sehr schnell ging, auch ein guter Ort für die Mittagspause.

Dusty and dirty interior decor, the unfriendly waitress brought us water in cups with a weird sticky film on them. My husband ordered a salad and noticed a pretty big spider under a cucumber half way through eating it. We called the waitress over to tell her and she argued with us saying maybe it came from the table or it had to be corn silk-- although nothing we ordered had corn in it. We asked for our check and she stormed off to get it, making things super uncomfortable.

Das Restaurant ist mit viel Deko an den Wänden und der Decke überladen.Die vielen Plastikblumen sind natürlich Geschmacksache.Die Tische stehen viel zu eng. Das Restaurant ist nicht sehr groß. Ich kenne thailändisches Essen aus Thailand selbst. Es war mit dem Essen in diesem Restaurant doch nicht zu vergleichen. Aber das Restaurant war voll besucht. Aber jeder muss sich sein eigenes Bild machen.

Take out crispy chicken green curry (maybe German fusion). Tast was good and spicy enough. The staff was friendly. If you are getting bored with German food, this is a place to change your taste!

I wish all the restaurants in the area are as good as this one. Henry, the waiter really went above and beyond in making sure we were comfortable as we enjoyed our food. The service was a great as the food (or was it the other way round?) The price also was worth it. You can’t go wrong with the spicy shrimp soup as appetizer. Highly recommended.

Sehr gutes Restaurant mit asiatischen Gerichten von einer extrem umfangreichen Karte. Das Essen ist sehr schmackhaft und die Preise sind eher günstig. Das Personal sehr freundlich und aufmerksam. Sehr zu empfehlen.

Wir essen dort öfter, da es uns sehr gut schmeckt. Auch wenn wir die Gerichte zum Mitnehmen bestellen, ist immer alles zu unserer vollsten Zufriedenheit. (20 Min. Zubereitungszeit) Das Rambutan ist ein Familienbetrieb und wird von einem gebürtigen thailändischen Ehepaar geführt (Mann kocht, Frau und teilweise Angehörige bedienen etc.). Sehr nette familiäre Atmosphäre. Sehr viel thailändische Deko, wie es so üblich ist. Alles sauber und gepflegt. Die Speisekarte ist sehr reichhaltig, in der Mittagszeit gibt es spezielle günstigere Menüs. Unsere Lieblingsgerichte sind Knusprige Ente mit Gemüse und Litschi in Kokosmilch sowie gebratener Reis mit Gemüse und Rindfleisch - und die gefüllten Teigtaschen sowie Frühlingsrollen als Vorspeise. Ebenso empfehlenswert ist der Papayasalat dazu. Es werden auch vegetarische Gerichte angeboten und auf Wunsch werden fast alle Gerichte auch vegan zubereitet. Fleisch, Fisch und Ei ... werden dann einfach weggelassen und etwas mehr Gemüse mit Sauce sowie Reis dazu serviert. Man kann übrigens bei schönem Wetter auch draußen sitzen. Das Rambutan gehört zu unseren Stammrestaurants in GAP. :)

Tolles, authentisches Essen. Auch wirklich Thaischarf, wenn gewünscht. Freundlich, aufmerksam. Lustig dekoriert mit SEHR vielen künstlichen Blumen.

Ja die Bedienung hat ihren eigenen Charme ist jetzt aber auch nicht unfreundlich das ist in Ordnung haben da s hon anderes erlebt. Mittagstischpreise sind völlig ok und die Wartezeit war kurz. Wir wohnen in Garmisch und sind beim spazieren gehen spontan dort eingekehrt. Man sieht sofort, das es ein asiatisches Restaurant ist, die Deko ist üppig. Die sehr freundliche Bedienung nahm schnell unsere Wünsche auf - wir hatten ein Gericht für 2 Personen bestellt (Vorsuppe nach Wahl, Hauptgericht, Nachtisch nach Wahl) und es wurde auch schnell serviert. Das Essen war tatsächlich sehr sehr lecker, da arbeitet ein Profi in der Küche. Gut gewürzt, das Fleisch knusprig, viele verschiedene Gemüsesorten. Der Reis war nicht ganz frisch, aber das ist nörgeln auf hohem Niveau. Wir wurden ordentlich satt. Wir werden in Zukunft dort wieder essen, es hat uns überzeugt.

Wer asiatisch mag, ist hier richtig!

Interessante und nicht alltägliche Location, die Einrichtung ist dem Land entsprechend bunt gehalten. Die Speisen wurden frisch zubereitet und waren sehr schmackhaft. Der Service war freundlich und zuvorkommend. Sonderwünsche wurden erfüllt. Preis - Leistung ist gut.

Wow. Fantastic food, wonderful authentic home cooked style, you won’t be disappointed

Wir waren 2014 hier und das ganze war ein wenig spooky 😵‍💫 Im Innenraum gibt es keine echten Blumen , nur Plastik ... und davon reichlich . Die asiatische Bedienung wollte partout nicht auf Thailändisch angesprochen werden ( mehrere Versuche meiner Frau scheiterten ... ) . Wir wissen bis heute nicht ob das ne Thai war oder nicht . Während der Zubereitung unserer Speisen kamen noch weitere Gäste und wenn wir nicht gerufen hätten um die Dame darauf aufmerksam zu machen wären die auch wieder abgehauen ... Das Essen hat dann gedauert , war aber geschmacklich gut . Kann sein dass sich bezüglich Bedienung in der Zwischenzeit was verbessert hat ....

Essen guter Standard. Ambiente: "blumig" und sehr bunt, mal ganz anders als sonst. Günstige Mittagskarte.

Stabiles Thai-Restaurant mit für Garmisch mehr als fairen Preisen. Essen ist reichlich und gut. Tofu gibt's leider nicht, aber das liegt wohl am Publikum. Wer sich an der Deko stört, geht lieber in eins der zigtausend Humpadumpa-Stüberl, ich mag einen Laden mit Charakter.

Wurde vor der Tür von Jugendlichen mit Sonnenblumenkernen beworfen. Die Bedienung eilte raus mit einem Thai Küchenaxt um mir zu helfen und hat die dicken deutschen Kinder vertrieben. Danke! 5 Sterne!

So große Portionen bekommt man im Restaurant. Man wird 100% satt, für uns war lecker ( für 4 Sterne lecker)

Hier gibt es gutes Essen zu einem unschlagbaren Preis-Leistungsverhältnis. Die Karte wirkt zunächst sehr chaotisch und unübersichtlich, letztendlich sind es aber einfach immer nur die gleichen Gerichte mit jeweils anderem Fleisch. Das Menü ist ebenfalls sehr kostengünstig. Die Mitarbeiter sind freundlich und routiniert. Viel Deko. Der Außenbereich ist leider wenig einladend.

Wir waren zum wiederholten Male hier zum Speisen. Diesmal wieder zur Mittagskarte. Fantastisch. Wo kann man thailändisch essen zum Preis zwischen 6 und 9 Euro mit Frühlingsrollen, und dann so gut? Mit 0,5 l Fassbier zum Preis von 3,30 Euro? Immer wieder gut

An absolutely huge menu, so I’d advise asking for recommendations based on what you like. We are a family of 4 vegans and had a great meal here. The staff were immediately welcoming and accommodating to us and helped us choose vegan friendly options and adjusting their menu for us (for example, no fish sauce or egg noodles). We had a beautiful vegetable red curry amongst other dishes and portion sizes are generous. Decor is like being in a flower jungle and a different feel to the typical Bavarian style places. Thank you for a lovely meal!

Wir hatten sehr leckere Nems (vietnamesische knusprige Frühlingsrollen ) Papaya Salat - hier fehlte der typische Geschmack der Papaya, die Marinade, die Erdnüsse es war also kein richtiger Som Tam. Rindfleisch Gericht war OK, wenn auch zu sehr nach europäischem Geschmack. Thai Nudelsuppe war sehr lecker und Original. Die Inneneinrichtung muß man mögen. Chatuchak hoch drei (für nicht Thailandkenner: Der Chatuchak Markt in Bangkok gilt als der größte Flohmarkt der Welt) besonders wer Kunstblumen und jede Art von Thai Deko oder Krimskrams liebt wird hier fündig; ich möchte die Dekoration nicht abstauben müssen. Es war aber alles pikobello sauber. Die Besitzerin die hier auch bediente ist sehr sehr freundlich. Sehr preiswert. Auch gutes Take Away (die Gäste die wir fragten waren sehr zufrieden)

The place was crowded with artificial flowers and the tables were packed. One of the lady worker was not friendly at all. The menu is too big and very confusing, it felt like the yellow pages book. The food was not tasty at all, and doesn't taste like the ordinary Thai food. Definitely not visiting it again nor recommending it to anyone.

Thailändische Köstlichkeiten können abgeholt werden, um sie dann im Haus eigenen Ristorante standesgemäß zu genießen, besser geht es einfach nicht !!! So macht Corona einfach richtig Spaß !!! Ob telefonische Bestellung, oder vor Ort bestellt, das Rambutan produziert weiterhin seine Köstlichkeiten, und wir holen ab, oder warten einfach, um die Spezialitäten mit nach Hause zu nehmen. Sehr Lecker-im Haus( Home )-Restaurant verzehrt- macht auch glücklich und hilft, die Schwierigen Corona-Zeiten so angenehm, wie möglich zu überstehen. Ab 17.00 Uhr gibt es auch einen Lieferservice ! Danke ! Dieses Restaurant ist auf jeden Fall weiter zu empfehlen !

Wir haben die Gerichte 30+42 gegessen. 16 als Vorspeise .Gutes Preis Leistungsverhältnis. Empfehlenswert.

Sehr gutes Essen und thailändisches Inselgefühl, ergeben: WUNDERBAR, für uns ist auf jeden Fall klar, wir kommen bald wieder, um erneut Eure Köstlichkeiten zu genießen !!! LIEBE-GESUNDHEIT-FREIHEIT !!! Bis Bald !!!

Wir hatten gebratenes Schweinefleisch in Zitronengrassauce und Ente in Tamarinden Sauce. Vorab gab es eine Tom Kha Gai Suppe. Die Portionen waren groß und auch schmackhaft. Die Schärfegrade konnte wir selber bestimmen. Das Restaurant selbst war thailändisch eingerichtet, jedoch mit künstlichen Blumen total überladen. Die Corona Regeln wurden unserer Meinung nach gut eingehalten und alle Tische wurden nach einem Gastwechsel desinfiziert. Auch für die Hände gab es Desinfektionsmittel. Die Bedienung war sehr freundlich. Zum Schluss gab es einen Pflaumenwein aufs Haus. Da wir bereits bei verschiedenen Thailändern besser gegessen haben, haben wir diesmal nur ein befriedigend gegeben. Ein sehr gut wäre unserer Meinung nach nicht angemessen. Aber es war nicht schlecht und wir können dieses Restaurant auch weiter empfehlen.

Die Bewertungen hier sind ja sehr unterschiedlich. Von "geht gar nicht" bis zu überschwänglichem Lob. Also ich kann beides nicht teilen. Das Rambutan bietet gute Thailändische Küche zu absolut fairen Preisen - und fertig. Wir gehen oft zu Thais und waren auch schon öfters in Thailand, von daher kann ich das beurteilen. KLar ist die Speisekarte riesig, aber aber hier wird halt in Mittagsmenüs und Abendkarte unterteilt und dann gibt es jedes Gericht noch vegetarisch, mit Huhn, mit Schwein, mit Rindfleisch und mit Hummerkrabben. Da kommen halt viele Seiten zusammen. Die Einrichtung drinnen ist geschmackssache. seeehr viele künstliche Orchideen; draussen sitzt man an einer vielbefahrenen Straße. Aber ich komme zum Anfang meiner Bewertung zurück; das Essen schmeckt, die Preise sind in Ordnung und das Personal freundlich. - das kann man in Garmisch nicht überall behaupten ;-)

Bei den -oft - höherpreisigen Essmöglichkeiten ist dieses Thai-Restaurant ein Lichtblick, weil hier bei vernünftigen Preisen ordentliches Essen geboten wird. Die Restaurantausstattung (Deko) ist allerdings gewähnungsbedürftig, weil arg überladen.

So went with my wife and kids as we love Thai food. You notice when you walk in absurd amount of plastic orchids...it's like a maze. I thought they were real until I touched them and they were dusty and greasy plastic. I went into the bathroom and it had an overpowering smell of urine. The hostess or owner or whomever she (has a ton of make up) is absolutely rude, cranky and unfriendly. Tables are too close together and the menu is ultra confusing and makes no sense. We ordered drinks and the makeup lady snapped at my wife and my 6 year old and when I asked her if they had Thai Tea she rolled her eyes and said sharply no...and walked off. We put our jackets on to leave to take our chances somewhere else when she showed up with the drinks. She made a big scene because she poured the drinks so we paid the 11 Euros and just walked out. I was fully expecting for this to be a game show with cameras hidden and that it was all just a big joke but it's hands down the worst restaurant I've ever been too and we never even got to ordering food.

Very friendly. Accommodated a large group without a reservation and was very patient without children. The food was delicious.

We were a large group of 20. Only 7 of whom had reservations. The waitress was accommodating and was able to fit us all in. The menu's number system is very confusing since there are two numbers next to the meals. Make sure you verify what you are asking for, or point specifically to it, because not everyone got what they thought they ordered (perhaps the waitress was overwhelmed by the group size?) Since we were the first to arrive, we got our meals fairly quickly, but we had eaten an were ready to leave before the last in our group got their meals... We have been to Thailand and eaten at many Thai restaurants before so we are familiar with the food. This one gets a resounding, meh, so-so for flavor. Sorry, not a restaurant I will return to on my next trip to Garmisch.

Firstly, you feel like you've walked into a dusty jungle when you walk in. Second, the vegetables are not fresh. Thirdly, the price is not on par with the quality of the meal or service.

The food was so-so. It does have a huge menu with some choices we have not seen before, but...that won't get past the price and horrible service. In fact, I could get over the price but the service was atrocious. Not only was the waitress rude, she tried to charge us for things we did not even have. If are craving Thai while in Garmisch, just wait until you get to a town with a decent restaurant. Don't bother.

Went here with a group from out of town that wanted to try something exotic. Frozen and/or canned vegetables used in the meal made it a little hard to enjoy. Even stuff you can get fresh, like beans... I was disappointed in the food and the service was quite terse. Decorations everywhere (so, don't go if you have dust allergies).

This restaurant is "off the beaten path" and rather unique. When I first approached the restaurant, I thought it was a flower shop because the interior is literally covered with artificial flowers and Thai statues. They have an extensive Thai menu with something for every taste and the degree of hot spices coded beside the entry, which is in both German and English. Prices are very reasonable, and you will notice that it is popular with locals. The staff is small and they also prepare take-out orders, so don't expect super speedy service. Good food--good value!

Service was brisk and a bit rude. Simple requests were denied. Food was bland and uninspiring. The single service person seemed to want to be elsewhere, as did I. There are much better restaurants in the city.

Good local Tia food. Reasonably priced and the portions were big enough to split. Small inside with about 8-10 tables with multiple seats at each. Can dine outside and watch and listen the the river next to you. Inside in fashioned with what appears to be millions of plastic "fake" flowers , but we're very well kept with no dust that we saw on a single one. Offers dessert and friendly staff, though appears to be the owner and her husband as the staff. Will go again.

We have stopped here twice now - one lunch and one dinner. I am no expert on Thai - maybe not authentic. I have enjoyed two different dishes here - very delicious. The plasticky decor is crazy but gives the place some charm.

My best friend is Thai, and I spent two weeks in Udon Thani, Thailand. They don't even have sticky rice or Thai Tea... My friend and I almost ran out of the door after learning that. On the menu it lists a range of spice...

Been here multiple times and it is very good for Thai/Asian food in Germany. Actually serves dishes "Thai Hot". Decor is a little overdone as almost every inch of the walls and ceilings are covered with fake flowers. We always eat here when visiting Garmisch...

Due to the rain, ducked into Rambutan for lunch after visiting Alte Kirche. 1st impression was flower garden on steroids. The food was great, even my mother in law(who is not a Thai fan)enjoyed it. Soup was excellent. Main courses were bountiful and again excellent....
