Quan Do Winterhude in Hamburg

We visited QD because the website promised a lot. We were quite disappointed with the food because it lacked flavor, flair, and refinement. The only thing that didn't lack anything were the wings, the appetizers. The grilled salad was okay, but I wouldn't order it again because it lacked flavor. The mango salad was missing fish sauce. The rib burger tasted exclusively of mustard and BBQ sauce, so you couldn't taste any of the other ingredients. The fries were crispy, which was the only tasty thing about this dish. The buns were far too sweet and needed to be seasoned with spoonfuls of fish sauce to have any flavor at all; the meat inside was good. The calamansi noodles with chicken were very bitter and lacked the umami flavor that is otherwise key in this dish. The chicken was well-cooked, crispy, and still juicy. The house-made drinks are incredibly expensive, and unfortunately, you only pay for the ice cubes. I wouldn't order them again. The two of us spent about €100 and wouldn't go back. There are other places in Hamburg that offer better value and better taste. What a shame.

Quan Do QD has reopened a month or two ago after a two-year renovation and a redesign. It's still a soft opening, so customers can see which of the new dishes are a hit. I can recommend the appetizer platter; my wife really likes the spicy soup. My daughter isn't quite as happy with the middle of the new menu; she misses the mango salad with the chicken skewer. The new concept stands out a bit from other Vietnamese restaurants. If you preferred the old Quando, you'll have to head downtown. A big thumbs up from me for the new dishes.

The Quan Do QD restaurant is highly recommended! The location is very clean and well-maintained, as are the restrooms. The service was really friendly and attentive. Although we had to wait a bit longer for our food, the wait was definitely worth it; it was freshly prepared and delicious. We'd love to come back!

The food tasted OK, but the portions were much too small. My husband specifically asked, and the answer didn't reflect reality. It was really just a portion for a small child. Service was really nice. Unfortunately, I find the place uncomfortable, both inside and out; the chairs aren't comfortable.

I used to loooove dish #6 from the old menu. I got a similar dish, but with fewer vegetables and different seasoning. The meat was good, but I miss my favorite dish and the beautiful, vibrant, and colorful lamps and decorations. The place looks sad now.

The chicken burger was great, very crispy and juicy, and also greasy, so really tasty. The fries were a bit bland. The bun, in contrast, was a disappointment: bland, boring, and also meager. The service was attentive and charming. The location was great. Please work on the flavor of the buns a bit so we'll be more likely to come back :-)

Some people recommended their spicy pho online but I couldn’t find it in the restaurant. The beef pho I ordered is, indeed as other comments, is kinda a joke. It’s below average. No beef bone flavor. And the hainanese chicken is not fresh and springy either. We have tried many Vietnamese dishes in Thailand, Canada, England, Germany and Japan so we know what we want. Yet this restaurant is so overpriced and overrated. The staff is very friendly but definitely not worthy. The outdoor seating has lots of ants climbing onto my clothes too.

Definitely recommended! The location is urban and dreamy, but above all, the waitresses are simply super friendly and relaxed, and the food is delicious.

We're so happy to have you back! The food is delicious, and the service is friendly and attentive. It's rare to see such careful attention to allergens in a restaurant. Even with an electric wheelchair, there's plenty of space inside and outside the restaurant. If the ramp to the rear terrace can be improved at some point, I would be delighted.

I've rarely eaten such authentic Pho broth as in Hamburg. Pure Vietnam feeling!

Today, June 12, 2025, I visited Quan Do on Gertigstrasse. It had been closed for almost a year. It reopened in April. The menu is now somewhat smaller, and for example, a starter soup like the Mien Ga, a glass noodle soup with chicken and coriander, is unfortunately no longer on the menu. There is unfortunately no lunch menu, and the prices are a bit higher, which is probably due to the area. I had a mango salad beforehand, which was unfortunately barely seasoned; it lacked fish sauce and chili oil. However, the main course with a special noodle sauce with chicken was very delicious. The price-performance ratio is okay, and the service is still very friendly. --------------------------- Great Vietnamese cuisine, and authentic. The menu is very minimal. The main focus is on the traditional Pho soup with a selection of toppings. I had a mini Pho starter soup with chicken, very tasty broth, and Vietnamese noodles. Then grilled betel leaves with minced meat, minced noodles, and salad with a fish sauce dip. Everything was delicious 👍 The waitress was very friendly and the service was excellent, and the prices were very fair. Great tip on Gertigstrasse!

Very, very tasty food and friendly staff. Unfortunately, the acoustics aren't particularly good due to the lack of decorations or anything similar; it feels like you're sitting in a hall. Overall, the place has a rather minimalist decor and isn't particularly cozy.

Best Pho in the world! We've been big fans for years!!

I was a frequent customer before the reopening, so I can certainly draw a comparison and think you can definitely taste a positive improvement! The pho has more punch than before, the rest of the menu is also much more refined and complex, and you can tell the team really enjoys working together (which is also reflected in the customer service – I received super warm and refreshing service). The only thing I would have personally liked was more fresh herbs (sprouts, mint, Thai basil) in the pho. Yes, the prices for some dishes have risen significantly, and my wallet misses the old prices... but to truly judge the value for money is beyond my expertise. All in all, I left the shop feeling well-fed and in a good mood, and I'm looking forward to the next time!

The new opening is truly an upgrade! Our highlight is definitely the banana pudding iced coffee. But all the drinks and food we tried on our two visits were extremely good! Vegan dishes/options are also clearly marked on the menu. On top of that, the service is also super friendly.

A lovely Vietnamese restaurant with very friendly service. Currently serving a limited menu during the soft opening phase, but I'm looking forward to tucking into the full menu soon. Tip: Don't miss the cheesecake with rhubarb compote. It's absolutely delicious!

Even after reopening, it's still my favorite Vietnamese restaurant in Hamburg. The Bun Bon tastes like it did in Hanoi! You can tell how much passion went into the reopening. I rarely write reviews, but QD Bep is such a great place, and Hamburg deserves to know that. So the place can continue to provide us with delicious food for a long time to come. So, a truly terrible place after reopening. Overpriced food, and absolutely terrible, to boot. Stay away, everyone, you'll just get annoyed!

The pho didn't taste nearly as good as it did two years ago. Back then, I liked to take out once a week... Back then, the food was still excellent, and the price-performance ratio was right. Unfortunately, things seem to be moving toward inferior ingredients; smaller portions; and higher prices. That's unfortunately become the norm in this area :( Too bad—I guess I'll have to take the longer route to the competition.

We originally came for nostalgic reasons, but were then very happy to be won over by the new concept. The service was extremely friendly and the food excellent. We received friendly but unobtrusive advice, and a good solution was also found for our son – he was equally thrilled, and we all went home full and very happy.

I had certain expectations after waiting 1.5 years. We ordered our Pho's, which were also very good, as usual. The downside, however, was the canteen-like, very simple interior that creates no feeling of coziness. Now we have been assured that the facility is apparently still being improved. I really hope so. The service was very attentive, courteous and informative. Overall I have to say, food: perfect, ambience: unfortunately failed.

Rating for the restaurant in Winterhude (Gertigstrasse): Yesterday we were at Quan Yo in Winterhude, which has been closed for a long time. Quan Do has long been our favorite - Vietnamese when we wanted simple, quick and good food for an excellent price-performance ratio. more often also take away. Now Quan Do is back, with a reduced menu in a so-called soft opening. Whatever that would mean in German. My wife had a Pho soup with tofu and mushrooms. I have a poached chicken with rice and vegetable topping. Both tasteful and good. However, my portion was rather small, almost appetizer size. I also made this known in the restaurant, with the very attentive and friendly service. The pricing for wine is not working at all: for a Pinot Gris that was at best (if at all) average, 8 euros were charged for the 0.15l glass (for the glass size of 0.2, which is unfortunately no longer normal, that would mean a price of over 10 euros). That doesn't work at all. Plus a 0.5l beer and a tip we paid €52. This is more than ambitious pricing for what is on offer and compared to the old Quan Do. I'm curious to see whether this will be successful. We'll test it once or twice more and then see whether we stick with it or look for another Vietnamese.

Tasty, quick and cheap. Hopefully the renovation will be completed soon. A food truck was briefly in front of the door offering a range of dishes at lunchtime. We jumped at it straight away and ate breaded pieces of chicken on crunchy cooked vegetables with rice. Add a small bowl of fresh garlic and chili in sweet vinegar - and the Quan Do feeling was back. Unfortunately it's over again because there was obviously no permit for the food truck. Now he's gone again. Thank you, dear Quan Do, for the well-intentioned attempt. No thanks to the authorities for their meticulous interpretation of the laws.

Unfortunately no longer good value for money. Raising the prices is probably understandable, but unfortunately the quality of the food has also been improved. “Lemongrass Tofu” bun without any hint of lemongrass. When I pointed this out, the waitress said that was correct, the tofu was marinated in a variety of spices (but lemongrass tofu??). Unfortunately overall bland, it's a shame it used to be different. We work according to the motto “Take it or leave it”.

Wir haben zwei unterschiedliche Tagesgerichte zu Mittag bestellt. Man darf hier keine Qualität erwarten! Rindfleisch war billig und zäh. Fisch war essbar. Noch einmal würden wir hier nicht essen gehen. Man kann dort gut sitzen und Bedienung ist nett deshalb 1 Stern mehr.

This is my favorite vietnamese place in Hamburg!!!! Although I mostly do takeaways from here but my dine-in experience has also been very good so far. The staff is friendly, the food is super good (I have always tried only veg and chicken), so fresh and authentic taste! Must, must try!❤️

Unglaublich leckeres Essen, das klare 5 Sterne verdient. Mehrere Preiserhöhungen von insgesamt ca. 40% in 1 1/2 Jahren, dazu teilweise noch kleiner gewordene Portionen, sind bei all Verständnis für gestiegene Kosten dann aber doch deutlich zu viel. Daher 2 Sterne Abzug.

Tolle Auswahl der gängigen Vietnam-Küche. Super lecker, immer frisch und gleichbleibendes Niveau. Dazu in guter Lage, nettem Ambiente und vor allem, freundlichem Service. Immer wieder gern.

Empfehlenswert und solides Restaurant mit guter Preis-/Leistung. Ob es sich um typisch vietnamesisches Street Food handelt, kann ich nicht beurteilen, dafür müsste ich den Vergleich mit Vor-Ort Street Kitchen ziehen können. Trotzdem halte ich die Speisen bereits für “europäisch angepasst”, schon hinsichtlich der Milde in punkto Schärfe. Auch die beliebte Sriracha Hot Chilli Sauce am Tisch ist so ein Imdiz dafür 😉 Wir haben hier aber gut gespeist, Interieur könnte noch einen Tick gemütlicher sein. Typisch relativ wenig “kostspielige” Zutaten wie Gemüse 🍆 oder Fleisch 🥩 und dafür mehr Nudeln. Aber Preis-Leistung ist wirklich absolut in Ordnung. Für die Speisen auf dem Foto inklusive je einem Getränk lagen wir für zwei Personen bei rund 30 EUR.

Sehr zu empfehlen und immer einen Besuch wert. Sowohl die Suppen als auch die hausgemachten Getränke sind ziemlich gut. Der Service ist nett.

El servicio era bastante malo. No había nadie allí cuando entré. Un tipo salió arrastrando los pies perezosamente cuando por fin toqué el timbre. Tomó mi pedido y llamó a otro chico para que me llevara mi dinero, pero no se presentó por unos minutos más. Recibí mi pizza y me fui. Al caminar a casa, pensé que olía raro a salsa de tomate y salsa agridulce. Llegué al hotel y tomé un bocado y ordené a otro restaurante para la entrega. Fue simplemente horrible.

Die "Smiley's Pizza"-Filiale in der Gertigstraße / Ecke Knickweg wurde erst im Herbst 2018 geöffnet. Angeschlossen ist ein stylisches Restaurant. Die Speisekarte entspricht der des Lieferdienstes. Extra-Wünsche werden gerne erfüllt. Wir bestellten vorweg einen Salat (reicht locker für zwei) mit French-Dressing, dann eine Pizza mit Garnelen & Sardellen und eine mit Hähnchen und Gemüse. Der Service war schnell und ausgesprochen freundlich. Die Pizzen waren superknusprig und üppig gelegt - die beste Pizza, die ich seit langem gegessen habe. Fazit: Diese Pizzeria ist durchaus eine gute Alternative zu den vielen anderen Schickimicki-Restaurants in Szeneviertel Winterhunde.
