What a fantastic evening! We were drawn in by the pictures on Instagram and weren't disappointed. The food was excellent. The service was superb, the quality of the food was really good, and everything was perfectly coordinated and delicious. We'll definitely be back to try the other menu available Thursday to Saturday. The value for money is also fantastic! We paid €70 for four drinks, three appetizers, and two main courses.

April 15, 2025: Yippee, Quan Do is back! But actually, it's two restaurants, or maybe even three? One thing at a time: After a long renovation, during which nothing was left untouched, Quan Do has finally reopened its doors. The colorful lanterns are gone, replaced by a more understated design and lighting. White walls and light wood everywhere. Nothing distracts from the food. The kitchen area is very spacious and semi-open. In the back of the restaurant, you can watch the chefs at work. Even the restrooms have been brought up to date. Why multiple restaurants? After the reopening, we were told that there will be times or days dedicated to a more refined style of Vietnamese cuisine. On those days, neither pho nor bun will be on the menu. They will still be available during the day or on weekdays. There's also a brunch menu for Sunday lunchtimes. The exact schedule is only gradually becoming clear – just ask! Updates can also be found on Instagram. The expanded wine selection is definitely noticeable, clearly moving towards a more sophisticated dinner experience. San Miguel (€4/0.3l) and Spaten are available on tap. From the regular dinner menu, we can recommend the Pho QD with chicken breast (€12.90) and the Bun Bo Hue (€15.00). The latter typically includes pork mortadella, but this can be omitted upon request. Both soups are based on fantastic broths and are exactly as they should be: hot, flavorful, and served with great noodles. For a starter, we like to order the crispy caramel wings (€7.50). A very tasty caramel chicken burger with fries (€15.50) has also recently been added to the menu. As with the other menu items, they are creative and not afraid of change. Therefore, the menu can and will change from time to time. The dinner menu is the real new highlight at Quan do. We're always blown away when we get to enjoy something from it. We've now tried everything on the current dinner menu, and everything tastes amazing...

This was my third time at QD – and I brought along two dedicated Asian food fans. Since I had previously raved about QD, our expectations were quite high. The result: We absolutely loved the food! A fantastic evening, amazing food, superb service – and the highlight at the end: What started as one dessert for three turned into three desserts, which we naturally shared. It was simply too delicious! 😄

A fantastic new concept, open Thursday through Saturday evenings. The vegan pho is amazing, as are the pâté and the pork neck. The koji sour has a unique flavor and is addictive. The service is outstanding. I would appreciate a little more space between the tables. Overall, a great experience. I'll definitely be back and look forward to seeing how things develop.

Dear friends, you absolutely must visit Quan Do Bistro. I've been there several times and each time I've left completely satisfied after a wonderful meal. The service is incredibly warm and attentive, the ambiance cozy and stylish, with pleasant music – but the highlight is undoubtedly the unbelievably good food. Even the regular menu completely won me over. Today I also tried some dishes from the dinner menu, which is currently offered from Thursday to Saturday, and I'm absolutely thrilled. I haven't had such a thoroughly positive restaurant experience in a long time. Every single bite was a delight. The appetizers were more than successful, the main course simply divine. The whole experience was topped off with a perfect dessert and truly excellent drinks. Simply: Wow! Absolutely worth every penny and finally something different, something really, really good. You can feel that the people behind Quan Do Bistro have created something truly magnificent with a great deal of heart, passion, and a willingness to try new things – something that didn't exist before. Thank you, Quan Do Bistro. For a long time, I searched Hamburg for a place that truly breaks free from the usual gastronomic monotony – and I finally found it at Quan Do Bistro. Here, you don't know the menu before you even walk in, because the evening menu surprises with ideas that will stay with you long after you've finished eating. At first glance, it seems small, but on closer inspection, you realize: it's not small at all, but rather a deliberately curated selection. A lot of work, meticulous attention to detail, and a clear culinary concept are evident in every dish. Quan Do was closed for two years – the intervening time was clearly used to excellent effect. The dishes are thoughtful, modern, and bold, without any gimmicks. You inevitably wonder where this creativity and these unusual combinations come from, but above all, you're delighted that they're finally available in Hamburg. Because much of what's on offer is new to Hamburg palates, the service team takes the time to explain each dish at the table and offer recommendations if needed. This is something you'd typically expect from upscale restaurants, except here we're talking about a price range where you can simply enjoy a nice dinner. The staff are visibly proud of what comes out of the kitchen, and their enthusiasm for this "new" approach is immediately contagious. So what's so different about this Vietnamese restaurant? Chilies are fermented into an aromatic cream, pork neck is cooked sous-vide for hours and served with fermented plums, and a sorbet comes with chili, sea salt, and guava pickled in vinegar. Even the cocktail menu makes it clear that they're thinking outside the box: instead of the usual lychee lemonade, for example, there's a miso sour – unusual, but perfectly balanced. Bold, independent, and consistently different – ​​that's exactly what deserves recognition. Hamburg desperately needed a restaurant like Quan Do Bistro to help open the door a little wider to the culinary world of major food capitals. So, dear Quan Do Bistro: please, more of this! And dear Hamburg: take a look, learn – new standards are being set here.

The food and service were excellent – ​​everything was well explained and recommendations were given. They also offered advice on drinks to complement the dishes. The interior ambiance is very pleasant and romantic. The menu is a bit pricey, but the quality justifies it!

Asian cuisine with a twist We dropped in here on a whim. The kitchen closed in ten minutes. A table was quickly set for us, and they helped us choose. We could tell the owners really value their guests. The menu is different, somehow more original. To start, we had dumplings with a beef filling in a broth. Then there was braised, thinly sliced ​​pork neck with fried rice that we were supposed to cut apart with large scissors. Amazing! We also had a puff pastry dish. The pastry was shaped like a small volcano and filled with mushrooms and glass noodles. The interior is very minimalist and clean, yet warm and cozy. None of those dark, cave-like spaces that are currently popular. Very friendly service. Surprisingly, they serve Spaten beer, even in 0.5-liter glasses. A delicious evening, and we felt like we'd truly experienced authentic Asian cuisine. We'd gladly come back.

We had a fantastic evening! The dinner menu, available Thursday through Saturday evenings, is highly recommended! From the appetizer to the dessert, everything was delicious and unexpected. The wine recommendation was also perfect for our tastes; I've never had such delicious Vietnamese food. The service was attentive without being intrusive and made our choices easy. This is a wonderful couple who own the restaurant and work with a dedicated team to create something truly special. We will definitely be back!

The place looks different now than in the Google photos. Very attentive staff. The dishes are presented in a unique way and the taste experience was captivating. We were very satisfied and left full. I'll definitely be back and I'm already looking forward to it!!

Last Saturday, the four of us visited the new Quan Do Bistro – same location, new concept, new ambiance, and a new menu. The bistro has little in common with the old Quan Do. The decor is stylishly simple, without resorting to any tired decorative elements – fantastic! The service was impeccable: we were shown to a table as soon as we arrived, and then the owner (?) came over to explain the new concept and the menu. It's a sharing concept. We ordered wine (and had the choice of a bottle on the table or having the server refill it – we opted for the bottle on the table). Next time, we'd gladly order a wine sleeve, even though the wine was so delicious and paired so well with the food that it barely had time to warm up. Everything on the menu sounds exciting and good. The three appetizers we tried were delicious: the dumpling broth was intensely seasoned, the ceviche was perfectly seasoned, and the mussels were a visual highlight. For a sharing concept, the selection of three main courses is surprisingly small. Unfortunately, we arrived too late for the pate, which was already sold out – leaving us with two main courses to choose from (but one of them had a vegetarian option, so 2.5 main courses total). We decided against sharing and instead ordered the same thing four times: pork neck. Delicious, juicy, with a fruity plum sauce that was subtle enough not to overpower the meat. A great presentation with the rice side dish, which You have to cut yourself into small pieces with scissors. We didn't regret our choice. Happy, full, and determined to return soon, we left the restaurant after about 2.5 hours. Overall, a fantastic concept and a real asset to Hamburg's culinary scene!

I enjoyed being a guest before the renovation. The food was always great and the value for money was right. Unfortunately, not anymore. The new menu makes a good impression. But the ambiance now resembles a mediocre bistro. Everything looks half-finished. The walls are bare and the tables are bare, the lighting is bright and sterile. There's virtually no fabric in the room. Cutlery comes in plastic buckets, and the chopsticks are made of metal. The service was friendly, but was obviously too busy with the restaurant half full. A 10-minute wait just to get the menu; the espresso was unfortunately forgotten (at least it was on the bill). The noodles with tofu tasted excellent, but were rather poorly "presented" on a plate that was too small. The price of €13.50 for such a dish without any notably expensive ingredients in the lunch menu is unfortunately no longer appropriate for this presentation. I'd be happy to come back when the seating is comfortable again.

I would not recommend the Crispy Chicken Burger. At €13.50 it is a complete rip off. The burger is very small, almost kids’ size. The piece of chicken was overcooked, dry and tough. There was more pickle than chicken. I won’t be going back to Quan Do any time soon.

Great service! Compared to madame-ngo in Berlin, the pho wasn't as impressive. Unfortunately, the pho was far too thin and lacked the typical pho flavor.

The food wasn't really good and nothing special especially not the special Rib Burger, they just use the cheapest bun and the fries are on McDonald level and you still pay almost 16€ for it. The interior is really sparse and they use IKEA cutlery (which isn't something bad but maybe not for the price you pay for the food)

The dinner menu is unique. We tried almost the entire set. It's perfect for those who want to try something new. It's delicious!

This restaurant is a fake Vietnamese restaurant. Only the name is Vietnamese, but nothing else. The taste of the dishes has nothing to do with Vietnamese food. The staff is very unfriendly. But when she received a tip, she smiled very kindly. The napkins and chopsticks were not prepared properly. I had to go to another table to get them. I will never return.

Absolutely fantastic! The pho soup was the best I've ever had—it really couldn't be better. You can immediately tell that the food is cooked with incredible love. I especially liked that the owner personally came to our table and told us that she even bakes the burger buns herself. This passion for good food is evident in every detail. Truly great food and highly recommended!

First of all, before the reopening, we ate there several times for the Pho and Bum Nam Bo. It was always delicious, and the price was unbeatable. Today was our first visit since the reopening. Service was excellent, friendly, and courteous, as always. Regarding the ambiance, we have to admit that we liked the previous "flair" better; it was much more authentic. That might be a matter of taste. Inside, it somehow didn't look quite finished, in our opinion, but outside it was no different than before. (Remember the long renovation phase.) Unfortunately, we were a bit surprised by the drinks: there was no Tiger beer in a Vietnamese restaurant? Such a shame... We had Bun Bo and Bon Nem for dinner. What stood out were the smaller portions than before. There were fewer vegetables, no carrots at all, and the lettuce leaf was whole in the bowl. Before the renovation, it was nicely cut into bite-sized pieces. There was less beef and also less spring roll (the beef and spring roll tasted great as usual) than before the renovation. Additionally, the ingredients that were usually brought to the table, like extra garlic or chili, were missing, I think. The cutlery tray was previously made of wood, but now it's plastic. Just like the bowls were now plastic, whereas before they were ceramic. Overall, we were hoping for more. The increased prices are completely understandable and fine, but we personally liked the quality of the food much better before. Perhaps this feedback helps; we'll gladly give it another chance after a while.

Wow, simply amazing! 😍 Finally open again – and I'm totally blown away. The quality is outstanding, the variety of flavors is unparalleled – I haven't found anything comparable in Hamburg yet. I went there today for the first time with my husband and child. Absolute pho lovers. Because of the owner's video, which went viral, we decided to have dinner at Quan Do. The video advertised that the pho broth is simmered for a full 12 hours. As a pho connoisseur, I had to go 😄 What can I say? The best pho we've ever had! Both the staff and the food were excellent! Fresh, attentive, and spot on! My only negative comment was a bit more meat in the broth. Relatively, it was too little. Otherwise, very satisfied 👍🏼

Been here a couple times. I recommend their calamansi noodles. Everything feels overpriced for the experience though. Beware their prices on Wolt are outrageous. €1.60 more for this chicken burger. The burger itself was average. Nothing caramel-ey about it and quite drench in the green mayo.

I was here for two days of my three-day trip to Hamburg, and I would have come back a third time if I'd had the time. The more classic Vietnamese dishes are all so on point and yet have their own unique touch, but these chicken wings and burgers are on another level. And then there's the dessert. The banoffee is literally the most delicious dessert I've ever had anywhere. Oh, and if that's not enough: The drinks are absolutely top-notch bar quality. I can't think of a bar where I could get better drinks. The bar manager is a true professional. In general, the staff simply made sure that every employee fits the place and reflects the image, which is rarely the case. I would come back anytime!

New favorite: Vietnamese!! Super friendly welcome, great service with lots of love and tips on the history – including explanations of how to eat and enjoy certain things. (Insider tip: Be sure to try the "Caramel Pork Belly" dish – it feels like a warm hug!)

We visited QD because the website promised a lot. We were quite disappointed with the food because it lacked flavor, flair, and refinement. The only thing that didn't lack anything were the wings, the appetizers. The grilled salad was okay, but I wouldn't order it again because it lacked flavor. The mango salad was missing fish sauce. The rib burger tasted exclusively of mustard and BBQ sauce, so you couldn't taste any of the other ingredients. The fries were crispy, which was the only tasty thing about this dish. The buns were far too sweet and needed to be seasoned with spoonfuls of fish sauce to have any flavor at all; the meat inside was good. The calamansi noodles with chicken were very bitter and lacked the umami flavor that is otherwise key in this dish. The chicken was well-cooked, crispy, and still juicy. The house-made drinks are incredibly expensive, and unfortunately, you only pay for the ice cubes. I wouldn't order them again. The two of us spent about €100 and wouldn't go back. There are other places in Hamburg that offer better value and better taste. What a shame.

Quan Do QD has reopened a month or two ago after a two-year renovation and a redesign. It's still a soft opening, so customers can see which of the new dishes are a hit. I can recommend the appetizer platter; my wife really likes the spicy soup. My daughter isn't quite as happy with the middle of the new menu; she misses the mango salad with the chicken skewer. The new concept stands out a bit from other Vietnamese restaurants. If you preferred the old Quando, you'll have to head downtown. A big thumbs up from me for the new dishes.

Some people recommended their spicy pho online but I couldn’t find it in the restaurant. The beef pho I ordered is, indeed as other comments, is kinda a joke. It’s below average. No beef bone flavor. And the hainanese chicken is not fresh and springy either. We have tried many Vietnamese dishes in Thailand, Canada, England, Germany and Japan so we know what we want. Yet this restaurant is so overpriced and overrated. The staff is very friendly but definitely not worthy. The outdoor seating has lots of ants climbing onto my clothes too.

Today, June 12, 2025, I visited Quan Do on Gertigstrasse. It had been closed for almost a year. It reopened in April. The menu is now somewhat smaller, and for example, a starter soup like the Mien Ga, a glass noodle soup with chicken and coriander, is unfortunately no longer on the menu. There is unfortunately no lunch menu, and the prices are a bit higher, which is probably due to the area. I had a mango salad beforehand, which was unfortunately barely seasoned; it lacked fish sauce and chili oil. However, the main course with a special noodle sauce with chicken was very delicious. The price-performance ratio is okay, and the service is still very friendly. --------------------------- Great Vietnamese cuisine, and authentic. The menu is very minimal. The main focus is on the traditional Pho soup with a selection of toppings. I had a mini Pho starter soup with chicken, very tasty broth, and Vietnamese noodles. Then grilled betel leaves with minced meat, minced noodles, and salad with a fish sauce dip. Everything was delicious 👍 The waitress was very friendly and the service was excellent, and the prices were very fair. Great tip on Gertigstrasse!

Best Pho in the world! We've been big fans for years!!

I was a frequent customer before the reopening, so I can certainly draw a comparison and think you can definitely taste a positive improvement! The pho has more punch than before, the rest of the menu is also much more refined and complex, and you can tell the team really enjoys working together (which is also reflected in the customer service – I received super warm and refreshing service). The only thing I would have personally liked was more fresh herbs (sprouts, mint, Thai basil) in the pho. Yes, the prices for some dishes have risen significantly, and my wallet misses the old prices... but to truly judge the value for money is beyond my expertise. All in all, I left the shop feeling well-fed and in a good mood, and I'm looking forward to the next time!

A lovely Vietnamese restaurant with very friendly service. Currently serving a limited menu during the soft opening phase, but I'm looking forward to tucking into the full menu soon. Tip: Don't miss the cheesecake with rhubarb compote. It's absolutely delicious!

Finally back and better than ever <3

Simply amazing food and a relaxed atmosphere. I had the caramel wings, calamansi noodles, and a lychee drink – all delicious – and the wings were among the best I've ever eaten! I'll be back!

Even after reopening, it's still my favorite Vietnamese restaurant in Hamburg. The Bun Bon tastes like it did in Hanoi! You can tell how much passion went into the reopening. I rarely write reviews, but QD Bep is such a great place, and Hamburg deserves to know that. So the place can continue to provide us with delicious food for a long time to come. So, a truly terrible place after reopening. Overpriced food, and absolutely terrible, to boot. Stay away, everyone, you'll just get annoyed!

The pho didn't taste nearly as good as it did two years ago. Back then, I liked to take out once a week... Back then, the food was still excellent, and the price-performance ratio was right. Unfortunately, things seem to be moving toward inferior ingredients; smaller portions; and higher prices. That's unfortunately become the norm in this area :( Too bad—I guess I'll have to take the longer route to the competition.

We originally came for nostalgic reasons, but were then very happy to be won over by the new concept. The service was extremely friendly and the food excellent. We received friendly but unobtrusive advice, and a good solution was also found for our son – he was equally thrilled, and we all went home full and very happy.
