Friendly staffs, tasty meat soup and Kölsch beer. Only be aware that it’s cash only. I like that the soup portion is not big (but you can refill once) since I usually don’t like to eat until really full. And of course, the price is much cheaper than a full meal. A perfect combo of simple meal and beer.

I ordered a few cans of the goulash after a podcast tip and I have to say - very tasty! Lots of meat and a harmonious, spicy sauce. I will order more cans - even if they are rather expensive. Annoying shipping disadvantage: Delivery was made by Hermes without tracking.

On Wednesday I treated myself to 2 large cans of goulash and 2 large cans of sauce. I've loved this goulash for as long as I can remember. My father bought this delicious goulash when he was young, with the milk jug on his little mop. Above all, we always found the spiciness to be brilliant. However, in recent years it has become less and less sharp. But today, when I prepared the first can of goulash, I was super disappointed 😞. Zero, nada, no spiciness at all. Really nothing! Dear Puszta Hut team, I hope that was an absolute exception! Otherwise, our long-standing corporation will unfortunately come to an end. You probably don't care about a customer, but I for one would find that a great shame.

Delicious quick goulash. Fast service. The rolls used to be better, but now they are probably made from scratch. Even worse today. Today, July 19, 24, there were good rolls again. Hopefully it will stay that way.

I would love to give it 5 stars again. HE IS KÖLLE STILL KÖLLE.. The new bicycle lane in front of the door can't change that. Cologne is being systematically destroyed.. But you can't change anything about the Gulsch. BEST GOULASH EVER.. THANK YOU FOR THAT.... As always, world class.

It is a wonderful place where you can find local taste. There is only goulash soup. Nothing else. Also beer. It is a truly historical and special place. There are not many places in the city where you can find local food. I think you should definitely try it. Otherwise, you will eat a doner burger.

Best goulash in Cologne, I've been a regular for 26 years. (My review from 5 years ago) I've been a guest for 31 years now. Unfortunately, a lot has changed for the worse. No more rolls from the bakery instead of disgusting baked rolls. And the meat becomes more and more fatty and musty. It's a shame... If the focus is always on money. The old owner was much better!!!!

Unfortunately very disappointed. I've always heard a lot about the goulash and also seen some reports. We then ordered two cans to try. The meat was good but it lacked spice. The spiciness is good, but in my opinion the spice is completely missing.

Was könnte man über ein Kölner Kult-Lokal noch mehr schreiben, außer : Die Puszta-Hütte ist (...so wie auch unser Lommi & dessen großartige Koteletts...) tatsächlich "KULT". - Ein echtes Kult-Lokal erkennt man (u.a.) auch daran, dass es einen eigenen & relevanten Wikipedia-Artikel hat ... und den habe ich persönlich angelegt ... und es war mir eine riesige Ehre & Freude ! - Wer großartigen Gulasch (...mit Saucen-Nachschlag) mag - wird in Köln - und auch weit über unsere herrliche Millionenstadt mit Herz hinaus - keinen besseren finden. - Ein (...äähm ... bis zehn) gut gekühlte Mühlen-Kölsch vom Fass sowie ein delikates & "bissfestes" Bäcker-Brötchen - zur stilechten "Begleitung" des Gulasch - steigern insgesamt sensorisch noch merklich den Hochgenuss vor Ort. --- (In früheren Zeiten konnte man - als Digestif resp. "Absacker" - noch einen ungeheuer guten & feurigen Tsipouro bestellen, der vom Großvater der jetzigen (jungen) Sardis-Generation noch persönlich gebrannt wurde; die Original-Rezeptur ist ... dem Vernehmen nach ... überliefert worden ... und vielleicht findet sich ja irgendwann ein fähiger "Brandmeister", der uns den wunderbaren Sardis-Tsipouro wieder in die altehrwürdige Puszta-Hütte zurück bringt, wo er hin gehört(e) (?) : Das wäre KULT-KULT !!). --- Der Preis für den absolut besten Gulasch von Köln bewegt sich unter dem Niveau von fettiger amerikanischer Fast-Food ... mehr braucht man wohl nicht zu den "mickrigen" Preisen in der Puszta Hütte bemerken. - Das Ambiente ist authentisch, -sehr rustikal und es macht riesige Freude, dort unter den zahllosen Postkarten von Promis aus aller Welt zu sitzen, die die Puszta Hütte beehrten und fortgesetzt beehren; Außentische gibt es auch.- "Unser Puszta Hütt´, dat is ne wirklich, wirklich joode Lade he ... da jonn me hin !!! --- (ps : übrigens gibt es statt des herrlichen & großväterlichen Tsipouro nunmehr heute (u.a.) Sliwowitz & Julischka als "Absacker" ... und die machen den Trennungsschmerz vom großväterlichen Tsipouro zumindest halbwegs vergessen .... aber halt niemals so ganz !!)

I have been visiting the Puztahütte for 35 years. I was there today and found out that you no longer get a bakery roll with it, but rather disgusting gas station snot. Bakery rolls have been served with goulash in the Puzzahütte since 1948. The owner is greedy and stingy!

Quaint restaurant with just one dish. Inside you think that time has stood still since it was founded (in the 50s?). The goulash is good, and there is also free sauce help. I like to take the canned goulash home with me so that I always have a delicious reserve for when I don't feel like cooking.

Cult restaurant or snack bar with seating inside and on the street, frequented by many locals and tourists. For many it is the best goulash in town! We found the small portions, the spicy ingredients fried in beef fat and the soup bound with wheat starch delicious and, with seconds, worth the €5.90! We are coming back in the colder season and have taken a 400 ml can (€7) to take home with us!

Either my memory is wrong or the goulash has worn off considerably. It's now more of a goulash soup with not particularly high-quality meat. The rolls felt like they were from the day before. I definitely remembered that better with the rolls. Unfortunately, today was the last time for me for the reasons mentioned above Maybe that will change again *hope*

An institution for decades. The goulash tastes like it did 30 years ago and has lost none of its quality. The service is prompt and friendly, second helpings are happy to be served. The fresh bread roll and the Mühlenkölsch do the rest. Must try and come back.

I love this place. They have one thing on the menu: Hungarian goulash and a piece of bread. The bowl of goulash is 5.90€ and a Kölsch is 2.10€ so you can have a hot meal and a beer for only 8€. That being said the portion size is nice but not huge so if you’re a person with a big appetite you might want an extra portion. (I mean what can you expect for that price) I‘m 68 kg, 174 cm with a moderate appetite and I think it’s sufficient but you might want a snack later.

As a half-Hungarian, I know really good, authentic "goulash" and I really have to say that the goulash here is in no way inferior to it! There is only one thing here and it is perfect. The ambience is like a rustic pub, service is friendly and attentive, gulash comes in a small "tin bowl" with rolls, and if you wish, you can also get sauce for free afterwards! Very fair prices for it, highly recommended!

Die Puszta Hütte hat ja mittlerweile schon Legendenstatus (seit 1948) in Köln. Ich persönlich kehre hier auch schon seit rund 35 Jahren regelmäßig ein. Es wird nur Gulasch verkauft, aber dieser ist einfach hervorragend, so dass man einfach immer wieder kommen muss. Das leckere Mühlen-Kölsch passt da natürlich auch noch perfekt zu.

Personally, the goulash was too spicy for me. The food came very quickly but the service seemed annoyed. We had the feeling that we were a burden to her when we ordered rolls.

Die Puszta-Hütte nahe dem Neumarkt ist eine Instiution. Die Zeit ist hier stehengeblieben, was nicht nur die altbacken piefige Inneneinrichtung betrifft, sondern erfreulicherweise auch die Preise. Vor allem das leckere Mühlen-Kölsch lässt mich hier immer wieder gerne einkehren. Kerngeschäft ist aber die Gulaschsuppe. Und die kann mich nur noch teilweise überzeugen. Schön scharf, das mag ich ja, aber heute fand ich es auch ein wenig zu salzig und das Gulasch etwas zäh. Deswegen nur 4 Sterne. Ich kenne übrigens einen Platz, wo mir die Gulaschsuppe deutlich besser schmeckt. Allerdings nicht in Köln, sondern in der verbotenen Stadt.

A beautiful and quaint restaurant that I haven't seen for a long time and have been looking for for a long time. This charm is unique and just perfect. Plus the incredibly delicious goulash at a great price. Overall, if it's Cologne again, then we'll have goulash for lunch.

Goulash, nothing else. Since 1948, this shop has only served goulash, and it tastes really good. Spicy lovers are at home here, otherwise you have to enjoy it with caution. The price is also very good with seconds, so I can only recommend the restaurant.

So this is an insult to Hungary!!!!! My husband is Hungarian and asked if this was a joke. The metallic shape where goulsch is served is reminiscent of a dog bowl. Price not an issue. But second helping is just soup and not a single piece of meat. Terrible. €5.90 is nothing these days, but it's just too bad. Can't understand the other reviews without wanting to offend anyone. Apparently I've never really eaten goulash. We are NEVER coming back

Gutes, bodenständiges Gulasch und ein Kölsch dazu. Was will ich mehr? Mir hat es sehr gut geschmeckt, schon eine ordentliche Schärfe (wer hier empfindlich ist, ist hier halt falsch). Der Kellner war nicht nur auf Zack und sehr aufmerksam, sondern auch sehr freundlich. Das Ambiente passt auch. Einfach ein Original, ich komme ganz sicher wieder. Wenn ich etwas kritisieren müsste, dann wäre es das Brötchen. Da gibt es bessere Qualität, aber zum einen hat man das eh nur um es in der Soße (Nachschlag inkl.) zu tunken, zum anderen sind die Preise hier so dermaßen fair, dass man da nichts sagen kann. I love it!

With the same facility in the same place for over 70 years. That actually says it all. Especially when there is basically only 1 dish. Namely goulash (with rolls). But that, of outstanding quality. A touch too spicy for me, but you know that when you come here. The Kölsch (Mühlen) is fresh, at a great temperature and at the table faster than you can see. The service is always very friendly and accommodating, even though you don't really have to rely on regular customers here. Some “trendy bars or star bunkers” can learn a lesson from this. Please don't change anything for the next 70 years.

Rustic, traditional restaurant, the goulash is served in a tin bowl and comes with a fresh bread roll. In terms of taste, it couldn't be made any better, it's simply great. Good spicy, lots of meat in it. Second helpings (sauce) are also available upon request. The service was super nice and on the ball. There are non-alcoholic drinks and of course Kölsch. This restaurant is cult and has been around since 1948 for a reason. That's why I had to get to the bottom of this matter. The restaurant is rustic, which I really liked. The lighting is a bit dim, but your eyes quickly adjust to it. When you go here you know what you want because they only specialize in one dish, goulash! As soon as I sat down, the attentive service came straight to me to take the order. And whoosh, after less than a second I already had the goulash on the table! If you only offer one dish, you have to have it. I can attest that this goulash is really good! It is served with a roll. The meat is very tasty and tender, the sauce is nice and thick and has a really good spiciness. For those who can't tolerate spicy, it might be a tad too spicy. But I thought it was good and really tasty. If you wish, you can get a free helping of the sauce. So value for money is great. If you like goulash, you should definitely come here!

Einfach eine Kult- Institution in Köln. Heute wieder hier gewesen und super leckeres Gulasch mit üppig Sosse gegessen. Dazu gibts auf Wunsch immer noch Nachschlag. Der Kellner ist an Sympathie und Freundlichkeit nicht zu überbieten. Das Ambiente ist einfach rustikal. Das ist natürlich nicht der Hit für High Societies, aber es gehört seit jeher authentisch zur Puszta-Hütte. Der Kölner erwartet es genau so ;) Die Preise sind auch voll ok. Man zahlt ja quasi weniger als beim Fastfood, bekommt aber mit Liebe gemachte Hausmannskost.

Herrlich urig und das Preis-Leistungs-Verhältnis bleibt weiterhin unschlagbar (Puszta-Gulasch zum mitnehmen mit Brötchen 6,90€). Eine absolute Institution in Köln! Vorsicht für Menschen, die nicht gut und gerne scharf essen: auch das milde Puszta-Gulasch ist und bleibt pikant-scharf!

The most amazing Hungarian goulash ever. Simple and great natural taste.

It’s very simple. Everyone goes here for gulash. You’re not getting salad, wurst or pommes here. There’s really nothing on the menu either- it’s either gulash with meat or just soup and each comes with a roll. You also get a little half bowl of gulasch soup with it as a follow up. The taste is spicy and tasty and they pride themselves on not using any fake aromas or powders. The clientele have been coming here since they were kids wirh their parents or haven’t been back in a while. The wait staff are exuberantly friendly in an un-German yet authentic way and very Kolner-way (maybe it’s in the Kölsch water- aka: beer!) No veggie items, no credit cards or Apple Pay. This is as old school as it gets and let’s keep it that way.
