The goulash was absolutely perfect, the service was excellent, and while you enjoy Dolce Vita inside, you can watch the zombies shuffling around outside – this surreal experience is offered free of charge by the city of Cologne.

Not sure if this is Hungarian goulash or not but still liked it very much, it is kind of spicy be aware.

I remember vividly how my father showed me the Puszta Hut many years ago. At the time, I wanted to leave immediately and, to be honest, felt a little cheated. But that first spoonful changed everything. Today, I can confidently say that I can hardly imagine life without the Puszta Hut and its goulash. As soon as I'm near the Neumarkt, I'm automatically drawn inside. At least one goulash with seconds is simply a must. The rustic atmosphere and the friendly, reliable staff make the experience perfect.

I can't understand the good reviews. Small portions with very little meat, and the only thing that's spicy is the only thing that tastes like nothing else. The much-touted "second helping" is a joke. Three spoonfuls of soup and that's it. The place survives on the marketing ploy of only having one dish on the menu and offering seconds, which you've already paid for. I went there once and never again. I can't recommend it. It only works in a city like Cologne, which is packed with tourists.

I saw a TV report about the Puszta Hut and spontaneously ordered several large cans. My first impression is—let's say—surprising. Surprisingly spicy for a goulash soup. But delicious. Absolutely delicious. The meat is incredibly tender and free of tendons or fat. And there's a good amount of meat in the rich sauce, which I enhanced with tomato paste. There aren't any pieces of vegetables in the soup; the flavor seems to come entirely from the spices.

Ordered online on Tuesday, the package arrived on Thursday – excellent service! Thank you so much! Highly recommended, as the goulash soup and the sauce are simply delicious!

I finally managed to visit the Pusta Hut. I thought almost everything was great. But unfortunately, the goulash didn't blow me away. It was okay, but there was a strange aftertaste that I didn't really like. I still ordered seconds, though; it was alright. But I expected more. It's a bit of a shame because I think the concept is fantastic: orders served in seconds, cozy atmosphere, etc.

The goulash was far too spicy and unsuitable for children and sensitive individuals. It's a nice restaurant in itself, but they failed miserably with the food.

They only serve goulash soup with bread rolls, but it's delicious and spicy. And a nice Kölsch beer to go with it. You have to wait for a seat or maybe share with someone. The place is small and cramped, but the waiters are friendly.

I've never seen a restaurant that only offers one dish, and it's incredibly popular... the famous goulash soup is a hit with both locals and tourists... unfortunately, it was a bit too spicy for me. A real Cologne experience! We had to wait a bit for a table, but then everything went very quickly because the staff are very efficient. The Peters Kölsch beer was delicious too!

A very nice restaurant with friendly and attentive service. The food was delicious. It came with a crispy roll. I'm giving it 4 stars because a) the portion was a bit too small in my opinion, b) the restaurant was a little dated, and c) there was only one dish on the menu. An extra portion of sauce is included free of charge.

A really honest shop and the goulash is fantastic! Perfect for a quick bite.

It's okay to go there once, but it's not a favorite. You eat and leave again; for me, it's more of a snack bar or pub with seating. They only serve goulash soup with bread rolls. It's small pieces of meat with sauce in a metal bowl. The taste is okay. The neighborhood is simply awful, the restaurant is clean but quite worn, and the toilets are a disaster (zero stars would be appropriate, at least the last time we were there. We've been there about five times in total, and I've only used the toilet once, and it was appalling. Maybe I was just unlucky...?). The service is professional, friendly, and quick. The price is about 7 euros per portion.

Definitely a Cologne legend. Anyone who likes goulash will love it here. The staff is very friendly and efficient. The interior is cozy. A nice touch is the complimentary refill of sauce after every soup. I'm so glad there's a place like this in Cologne!

Menu? Forget it! Just goulash, nothing else. What more could you want? I've been coming to the Puszta Hut for 60 years and look forward to a portion of goulash every time, which always tastes just as good. Of course, seconds are a must! A delicious, cold Kölsch beer completes the experience.

My favorite is the beef stew, which is spicy or just a little spicy. It has a long history and is the only dish served. You can get extra soup. The bread costs six cents a piece and is one of the must-eat foods every time I come to Cologne.

Authentic Cologne, authentic goulash. Don't let the location around Neumarkt put you off. Inside, you'll never know the chaos outside; the staff maintains a calm, warm, and professional atmosphere. The food is simply superb: the best goulash for miles around, always fresh, always cooked with love. And yes… seconds are always available! Definitely pick up a can of goulash to take home; it's worth it every time. Just a heads-up: they don't accept card payments, but I'm happy to overlook that when awarding stars. A piece of genuine Cologne that endures even when everything around it is in turmoil.

Very tasty goulash soup. It tastes very authentic, with just meat and sauce (no added vegetables). However, the portion is really tiny. You do get one free refill (just sauce), but it's definitely not enough to fill you up. A nice little snack, though. Smoking is allowed inside. The service is good, fast, and friendly. It has a very rustic feel and is fun to visit.

A truly great place. I've been coming here for 20 years; it's an absolute institution. The portion size is rather small, even with seconds, but it's cheap enough that you can order a second one if you're really hungry. The service is hard to beat in terms of warmth!

The Puszta Hut is always worth a visit. They serve "original Hungarian goulash." Super tasty, with reasonable prices and a decent portion, including a roll and one refill of sauce. It's just right for the cooler season. The staff is quick and super friendly. The atmosphere is rustic, but not old-fashioned.

The soup tastes absolutely delicious. But I'm glad I only chose the "regular" version and not the spicy one, as that one is spicy enough. Nice service.

The waiters were always friendly. But today the two new young guys were especially friendly and service-oriented. And of course, the goulash is always great.

I recently ordered and received the original Puszta sauce. I made it today and unfortunately have to report that I'm a bit disappointed. There were no vegetables, no pieces or strips of them, like peppers, in the sauce. It's a real shame, because that's what a Puszta sauce should contain. Otherwise, the flavor is quite good, and the spiciness is just right, too.

A must for every Cologne resident and visitor. I've been a guest there for 40 years, and even my four children love this goulash. Unfortunately, the situation outside and in the surrounding area isn't very inviting, but once you're inside, you forget about it. Regards to the whole team

Delicious spicy goulash, good, fast service

On Saturdays, we always enjoyed coming to the Puszta Hütte with colleagues for a cozy end to the week. The soup is a true classic. Unfortunately, the immediate surroundings have changed significantly in recent years, so people no longer feel as comfortable there and tend to avoid the outdoor area. It's a shame that such a traditional place in Cologne is losing its atmosphere because of this. We hope the situation improves in the future, as we always enjoyed coming here.

Rustic and cozy. SPECIAL FEATURE: A dedicated table for wheelchair users. I was here today with my girlfriend. The waiter, René, was very friendly and accommodating. The goulash was delicious and pleasantly spicy. I'm already looking forward to my next visit here.

A great goulash, spicy, juicy you just have to try it

"Holy cow, that's hot!" was my first thought when I tried it. But spoonful by spoonful, it became milder, and the sauce was creamy and pleasant. The meat was tender as butter, perhaps a little under-served for my taste, but overall, it was perfect – especially considering the price. The roll was crispy, and the second helping was a real treat. All in all, it was a fantastic experience at the Putza Hütte in Cologne. And when a restaurant has been around since 1948, that shows they've been doing things right for a long time.

We were there for the first time today. We took the wrong entrance, but we were still greeted warmly. I have to honestly say I highly recommend it. Soup and seconds. We were full. We'd gladly come back.

People here are asking about the ambiance. Very plain, but that's part of the Puszta Hut. The goulash was delicious as always, but the entire meat filling fit on ONE soup spoon. Two portions plus a Coke and an apple spritzer cost €19. A very steep price. The menu displayed and its prices are no longer accurate and outdated. Sorry, but when you look at everything as a whole, it's no longer worth the price. We will refrain from visiting the Puszta Hut in the future after many years of regular visits.

I've been going there for over 50 years. It's authentic Cologne and they serve the best Hungarian goulash, and for the aftertaste, they even give you another bowl of sauce.

Any time I'm back in Köln, this is a staple for me. I could honestly eat it every day. It's nothing fancy; the servers have always been easy/friendly, the atmosphere isn't necessarily cozy, but it's comfortable and warm. Goulash is delicious, bread is perfect, and the beer - chef's kiss. I always leave fat and happy.

So, this place was recommended to me by locals because of the goulash, which tastes absolutely amazing, but the price-performance ratio is a total disaster and a disgrace. Almost €7 for a small bowl of goulash, and we don't even need to mention the second helping. The owner should make the portions bigger or lower the prices.

Considering it's supposed to be Cologne's most famous goulash restaurant, it's a real joke. No card payments, there are always homeless people outside asking for money, and the portions are unfortunately very small.

I recommend it to all tourists, the place is atmospheric, steeped in history. The cafe was opened after World War II. The food hasn't changed since then. But for me, there's too much pepper in the dish. Very spicy.
