I've known the owner for over 10 years now and always love going there! The food is lovingly prepared, there's always a great atmosphere, and we laugh a lot together! This snack bar is an absolute must-visit for experiencing Cologne's vibrant city life! During Carnival, this place is a real hit – food, loud eating, dancing, and good times are guaranteed! Unfortunately, I don't have that much time, but I enjoy every minute there! Pure neighborhood feeling!

The ambiance is fantastic, it's a truly memorable dining experience :-) I had a lot of laughs with the owners.

Nice place where you can quickly eat typical, homemade German cuisine. Very friendly service. Sausages, meatballs, fries, coleslaw, potato salad, or cucumber salad—you can choose whatever you want from the menu. For €15, including a drink, I was satisfied.

I've lived in Cologne for three years and come here regularly. The food is always great, and especially when it comes to spicy food, you're in the best of hands. Definitely come here if you're in the area. But above all, the two restaurateurs who run this jointly are always in a really good mood, and it's just a pleasure to come here.

We discovered this wonderful snack bar on Eigelstein by chance and were absolutely thrilled! Our meal (currywurst, fries, and Leberkäse) was perfect. As was the roast spit, which we were given to try as a snack. The owners are fantastic! Maybe it's true, they're not the friendliest. But appearances are deceiving; they're Cologne natives through and through. You come to the coast and want something to eat, it's really easy, and in no time at all, you've made new friends! It's delicious when the waitress smokes outside and then prepares the food with their unwashed, nicotine-stained fingers. Luckily, someone had placed an order before us. Seeing that, we decided to move on. I don't want to know how long their hands hadn't been washed by then 🤢 And nice isn't exactly nice either.

Whenever we're craving a bratwurst, like yesterday, we visit the Fressbud. The homemade salads are also delicious. I find the service very friendly; it's a down-to-earth atmosphere, not a hipster place. But the owner has a kind word for everyone who passes by...

I ordered shashlik twice with a friend. We only ate half and threw away the rest. We were there years ago, and it was great. The current owner and his wife are so unfriendly, and the food, if you can call it that, is simply inedible. It's a shame it's become such a disgusting place. Never again!

Unfriendly staff, and the food was on par with the service. I've rarely eaten such a disgusting spit-roasted roll. Never again. The place obviously hasn't seen a clean rag in a while.

We wanted to see for ourselves and not rely on the reviews. However, the bottom line: once and never again! It's a shame we thought we'd find another German snack bar threatened with extinction, but the food was abysmal. The meat is cold, then, upon request, they reheat it and serve it with old fries and an unidentifiable mayonnaise. Even here, you can't get a currywurst, apart from the service when something goes wrong... a shame... Not even asking if everything was okay with full plates, and charging the full amount, is unreasonable... Once and never again...

Absolutely not convinced. For the money, you can get better food elsewhere and the service is friendlier.

The shop should normally be closed. A truly incompetent couple runs the place. The food was, well, how can I say it? I'm glad I kept it inside, or not. Clean is also different. And what's with the outside camera pointing at the street? The public order office should take a look. And the best part is at the end, when the owner thinks he has to play traffic cop and aggressively yells at two cyclists who don't speak German. That was the last straw, how he yelled at those two with his poor English, and he was the owner of the shop. His pupils were also very wide open. I don't want to go into that in detail now. I can only advise you to stay well away from the shop.

Best shashlik in town. I devoured three portions of it. Staff is typically Cologne. Addendum April 12, 2025: I saw that you can also order via Liferando. Unfortunately, my anticipation was completely dashed. The shish kebab is still the best I know. Unfortunately, the portions were far too small for the money. The potato salad was clearly over-seasoned with vinegar and inedible. It was exactly the same with the fries. The container in which it was delivered caused the fries to be completely mushy and pressed into a mass. Last but not least, a handwritten note was added that mentioned that you should order from Uber or Wolt soon. If they don't want you to order through Liferando, it would be better to remove them from the website. At least there is still a free market economy and I can order wherever I want. Conclusion: I will continue to enjoy the shish kebab on site. The rest can be thrown in the bin.

​I've been going to De Fressbud for several years and have found that, despite a slight decline in quality under the new ownership, the spit-roasted rolls are still among the best in Cologne. I don't understand the negative comments, as the owner has always been friendly and accommodating to me. Overall, I'm very satisfied with the service and the food and will happily eat there again in the future.

It used to be the best spit roast in the city, but unfortunately you won't be served here anymore if you express negative criticism... We also wanted to order several times via Lieferando, but the order was canceled after about 20 minutes. You won't get your money back until days later... I would probably eat 3 to 5 spit roast rolls a week without any problems. But if sales aren't that important to them...

It is what it is and that's a perfect German street food stop. Friendly staff, food grilled to order and excellent outdoor seating for people watching. It's simple, but perfect in that simplicity.

Hier gibt es die beste Currywurst die ich je in köln gegessen habe. Nur zu empfehlen.

Besitzer ist offensichtlich ein Ausländerfeind, steht mitten auf der Straße und hebt den rechten arm zum ******-Gruß. Hält mich persönlich davon ab, dort essen zu gehen.

Besitzer zeigt Hitlergruß samt Hymne im Hintergrund.

Es stinkt nach ranzigem Fett, der Boden klebt und nichts schmeckt. Die Salate sind Fertigprodukte aus dem Eimer und das Fleisch ist von fragwürdiger Herkunft. Der Betreiber ist ein unangenehmer Typ der gestern festgenommen wurde, weil er rotzbesoffen rechte Parolen brüllend vor seinem Laden stand und den Hitlergruß gezeigt hat. Zum Glück gibt es genug Alternativen in der direkten Umgebung.

Nach BRAUNER Soße hab ich krass gekotzt und Durchfall gehabt. Der Besitzer hat sich mehrmals ausfallend über Minderheiten geäußert . DEFINITIV NICHT ZU EMPFEHLEN

Essen hat ekelig geschmeckt, Bedingungen dort schienen recht unhygienisch und das Personal war unfreundlich. Verstehe die positiven Bewertungen nicht!
