The ambience is more of a 90s original Prague style. Dark colors, careless decoration, plastic flowers... Czech Republic in the 90s ;-). Toilet facility below level. Service was friendly and quick, food quality was average, but the price was quite reasonable. The restaurant has potential that should be upgraded...

The food is good, the staff is friendly, but sometimes it takes a while.

There are a few places in Berlin where time seems to stand still. If you're looking for original nostalgia, you'll get your money's worth here, because this is one such place. We were allowed to be guests here without any frills and with warm friendliness. A stark contrast to the current Instagram trend of superficial self-dramatization. We enjoyed every second here.

Service was very pleasant, meats (Schnitzel and Svíčková) were tender and nicely made. Svíčková sauce here has nothing to do with the real one (color, taste, consistency), dumplings were bought in supermarket and not tasty. Schnitzel is in Czech cousine served with potatoes not asparagus and mayo sauce. Interior in this place felt like in Czech village pubs or C-class pubs in bigger cities. Soljanka is btw Russian soup. ;) Overall as said, meat was juicy and waitresses were friendly so not so bad as some other reviewers claimed in other posts.

The restaurant and the service were very good, the only thing that wasn't right was that my wife had to get out of her wheelchair. She can take a few more steps. I also didn't see any mobile ramps, which is bad for wheelchair users who can no longer walk. The food was tasty and enough. We can recommend the restaurant. Our children invited us to Advent.

When we visited the location again today during our lunch break, we hoped that the service staff wouldn't be so unnerved and stressed again, but we were so surprised when a new, mega-friendly service staff suddenly served us. We were served quickly, with commitment, attentiveness and wit, but still with Berlin charm. I hope the new employee stays with the restaurant for a long time. The food was fine as always.

The restaurant is inexpensive, the food was ok for the price, but the dumplings were cold and hard - like they were made this morning. However, I haven't had such unfriendly service in a long time, you almost had the feeling that you had to apologize for being there would like to order something. Extremely unfriendly and snotty. The prices don't change that either.

Tried to eat there again at 11:30 a.m., unfortunately the restaurant was still closed. Apparently they open at 11:00 am. In any case, I won't try it again. Some people just don't need it. Maybe you should change your opening times.

A really great restaurant with a special charm. There are many ways to get there, great terrace, very nicely decorated inside. The prices are reminiscent of old times and invite you to eat and drink. The offer is completely fine, the food tastes delicious and the portions are very good. The service and staff were very friendly.

Actually an institution in Friedrichshain that has held up well through the ups (if they still exist) and downs of time. It may not only be due to the prices, but also to the local staff, who have been serving the guests consistently, sometimes for more than a decade. A place where people still know each other. What makes the hop room special? Well, especially the fresh Czech beer on tap, half a liter for just over 4 euros. Where else is that? The food is not star cuisine, but solid fare and tasty at reasonable prices. As far as I can remember, there was no new experimentation at the facility. You feel comfortable, inside and outside. (Despite the sometimes annoying loud traffic. But nobody can do anything about it.) It is advisable to reserve seats at popular peak times in the early evening hours, and not just on weekends. I like going to the bar and if there's a meeting with friends, then it's in the Hopfenstube. Long may it stay that way.

We came from Prague and wondered how they managed to copy Czech gastronomy. They couldn't. The beer is very poorly brewed, absolutely not reminiscent of Pilsen. Food, a set of frozen semi-finished products. They should close it here, because this is an insult to the Czech nation and gastronomy.

the chef brought plates holding them with wet water-dripping hands ingredients taste cheap and despite that the prices are low, the quality is even lower. No love can be found in the meals we receiced. Kozel beer on tap was really nice though, 3.60 for 0.5, so would only recommend as a bar with 1 beer

A great restaurant with a lovely Eastern charm. A really good menu with decent portions that are incredibly tasty, great friendly service and freshly tapped beer, you'll definitely want to come back.

We have been here at least once a year for more than 25 years. Always satisfied, the Bohemian beer is great and your hunger can also be satisfied. Somehow time has stood still, but that's exactly what we like when everything has to be in vogue. Prices are absolutely fair, thank you for that!!

Absolutely OK! The price-performance ratio is great, the food was generally tasty and, in my opinion, corresponded to the price, so it met expectations, even if it wasn't an exceptionally good restaurant experience. We'll definitely come back :)

I haven't eaten so badly in a long time. Order (during asparagus season): Schnitzel with asparagus. Delivery time 3-4 minutes, no wonder given the potpourri of frozen and preserved specialties. Asparagus from the jar, unpleasantly overcooked, frozen schnitzel from the deep fryer, duchess potatoes absolutely pale. The stomach pain started right after eating, so I ordered peppermint tea. Tea bags with Kaufland logo. For less than 10 cents. Each glass contains branded goods, which wouldn't hurt any guest to pay more. In short: an absolute culinary disaster. My companion felt the same way, salmon with 'puffer' (or whatever that was) caused more disgust than culinary delight. In short: every chip shop offers higher quality food at the bar table. A shame!

If you want a hearty Bohemian meal, you've come to the right place. Tasty and reasonably priced. The service is very nice. Food comes to the table hot and quickly and drinks even quicker.

Wasn't satisfied at all. Had the sauerbraten, the meat was tough, the dumpling was cold. The red cabbage was okay. For the first time I wasn't full. Not recommended!!!!

While eating, my friend noticed that some of her fish was still raw. The waitress agreed, took it with her without a word and disappeared. She then came back later with the same dish. No “sorry”, no asking whether you want to eat the same thing or anything else at all. My girlfriend spent the rest of the evening on the edge of the toilet. 0 stars for the kitchen, 0 stars for the service. It's hardly worth mentioning how unusually bad my Staropramen tasted.

The Prager Hopfenstube is also a good stop on an evening pub crawl in Friedrichshain: currently €4 for 0.5L of tap Bohemian beer. More of an old-fashioned pub atmosphere, comparatively few tourists! :D

This store lives up to its name! You really have the feeling that you have come to a quaint and cozy restaurant in Prague. The decor is simple, but conveys atmosphere. The menu offers a lot of choice and of course the relevant Czech beers should not be missing. Only the waitress went overboard with the Berlin snout in my opinion, they could have been a little friendlier. Nevertheless, overall it was a nice visit and I would go again!

Another birthday was celebrated here. We were only 7 people. Everyone enjoyed the food a la menu. Afterwards we spent another 3 hours with coffee, Cake and delicious ice cream. The service is very friendly and doesn't seem unpleasantly intrusive when it comes to repeat orders. Fresh cut flowers and candles decorated the tables. If you like hearty food, this is the place for you! If you don't make it, you can pack it well and then have leftovers the next day. And the prices are very moderate.

Speaking as a czech person, this restaurant has little to do with the current czech culture, food and service level. The place itself represents a time machine, taking you back to 80’s (in a bad way). The place and interior is very aged, huge spider webs in the corner (you must be blind not to see them), the typical curtains on the windows are old fashioned and service is horrible. Very cold and not friendly at all. The menu is a mix match, weird combinations of czech meals and tastes in one dish. The plate includes the typical 1990’s “salad deco” - salad leaf, bit of tomato, corn and strange white sauce. The „goulash“ was served with 3bread dumplings (in czech it’s typical with 6), there was a cooked sour cabbage on the side (not typical) and again „salad deco“ which is rediculous memento of 90’s. At 11pm, an old guy (chef or the manager ??) came to us, started to scream at us in German, wearing a cap with “ich hasse Menschen” ( i hate people)even though they were closing at midnight. We as a group of 15 czech friends were mostly just drinking after we had some food. The place was not even half full and we were definitely making the biggest sales on that evening. How can you run a successful hospitality service if you’re so rude to your customers? That only reflects the state in which the whole restaurant operates. I’m truly offended that somebody is “representing” our culture this way. They should close the business and do some other job that is not pissing them off and they truly care about.

For us Czechs, the name of the restaurant is the greatest shame of all. It has nothing to do with Prague and the Czech Republic. Food bad, beer too. Service is rude, unfriendly, slow and forgetful. Always write it down on a piece of paper first, but the order doesn't come. We even had the waiter yell at us that he had a family at home (he also had a hat with “I hate people”). Ok, fine, of course we would understand and leave the restaurant in peace if you said it politely. They should look for other jobs. It was the first time in my life that I didn't give tips. I was there for the first and last time. Very very bad. Cannot recommend more.

This restaurant should change its name. The restaurant has nothing to do with Prague or the Czech Republic. This is an insult to Czech cuisine and culture. The food has nothing to do with the food from the Czech Republic and the beer doesn't taste particularly good either. The waitress and her colleague at the cash register were very rude and unfriendly. At 11 p.m. we were kicked out in a group of about 25 people. The waiter said that he has a family at home and we should leave the restaurant. The other guests were able to stay in the restaurant but we, a larger group of 25 people, had to leave the restaurant. Quite interesting. Maybe it had something to do with the fact that we were Czechs and Slovaks? or? It's a shame and if the waiter thinks about his family, then he should work somewhere else and not for a restaurant. Really terrible experience.

I don't really understand why the staff's approach can change so much when you don't eat here alone. I've been here several times alone or as a couple - whether it was lunch or dinner, everything was on the table quickly, delicious (the mini pancakes and the Swedish cup are awesome) and the service was very friendly. Yesterday, however, I was there as part of a group of 14... The wait was just a little annoying, but this really harsh eviction 45 minutes before the actual closing time... I simply don't see any reason for that... It's a shame...

I never write reviews, but what my family and I experienced in this one, I don't even know what to call it...it was a big disappointment. We were excited to get to know a "Czech restaurant" in Berlin and I am extremely disappointed and even angry that someone is presenting us like this. As soon as we entered, we should have turned around and left, we felt musty and it reminded us more of a station bistro, but we thought we'd give it a chance anyway. I ordered a schnitzel, first they came to say that they didn't have any chicken meat at all, so I got pork and some asparagus that they completely killed with sauerkraut and pickled corn. but the fries that my son got were completely uneatable, I think the poor things were fried in the fryer so that there was nothing left and we got a ton of oil on the plate... when we told her back that this has nothing to do with Czech cuisine, she shook her head and dumped the bill on us, so we at least took a picture of the ketchup for the thousand and left the place instead.. Really a mockery of Czech cuisine, they should visit us sometime, I think they would shut the place down in shame!!

Well, what can you say... Over the last few years I have been here at irregular intervals and enjoyed beer and food. So we arranged to meet a friend and arrived at the Hopfenstube in a good mood. When asked for a table for two, the waitress pointed to the empty restaurant and said in somewhat broken German that everything was reserved and that a large group was coming. I couldn't quite believe it, everything looked the same as always. My friend, who came a little later, called the restaurant and made a reservation for 2, beware for half an hour later. We then considered waiting, but didn't want any stress. There are enough alternatives in the area, but it's still a shame.

I have known the hops room since I was a child. It is and remains the restaurant with the best family memories. Service and cuisine are great. Always happy to come back. Price/performance is also perfect.

Extrem unfreundliche Menschen. Eine Freundin hat auf Englisch nach einem Tische gefragt. Das wurde verneint. Im selben Moment stehen an zwei Tischen Leute auf, die ganz offensichtlich bereits gezahlt hatten. Danach wollte ich noch einmal nachfragen aber mor wurde nur signalisiert, dass ich im Weg stehe.

Ein sehr fleischlastiges günstiges Restaurant mit Ostblock-Feeling. Das Essen war bei uns (fünf Personen) wirklich gut! Lediglich für einen Vegetarier war die Auswahl etwas beschränkt. Die Preise sind akt., im Vergleich zu anderen Restaurants, sehr günstig. Wir haben zu zweit (eine Vorspeise, zwei Hauptspeisen, 2 Softdrinks, 2 Bier und ein Schnaps) ~50€ bezahlt. Das Ambiente ist eher einfach. Wobei halt auch irgendwie typisch für ein tschechisches Restaurant. Die Bedienung war okay.
