How can it be that such well-performing and popular restaurants or cafés in Frankfurt are repeatedly forced to massively increase their prices and/or close at some point? I wish the Prague Embassy a new start somewhere under fair conditions and, if, as is so often the case, it was due to a massive rent increase, I hope that the property will remain empty for a long time afterwards.

Unfortunately, the restaurant is now permanently closed and the rooms have been completely emptied. We have always eaten very well here and hope that the owners will reopen the restaurant elsewhere.

Update July 2024: Suddenly the restaurant is gone 😪 Hopefully it will open again somewhere else 🙏🐺 Great location, down-to-earth, well-made cuisine, super-fast and friendly service at fair prices, what more could a gourmand want? We'd love to come back! 🐺

Ate there because of the location, opposite the hospital and the good menu. Plus: Get a table outside straight away! The food was very tasty!! Minus: Unfriendly service with rolling eyes because we approached a chair to put a handbag on it, long wait until drinks came. Impossible behavior from the female waiter! After paying the bill, I was verbally expelled from the table because it had already been taken away! Conclusion: Once is enough, so no tip! It's a shame because the food was delicious! We also skipped dessert!

The food was very tasty, you have to try it once, but I found the menu to be too “empty”, there wasn't much of a selection and it was a bit overpriced. It's worth trying once. The waitress had a strange sense of humor, which I didn't find very pleasant. Otherwise atmosphere was good and nicely decorated house.

We had a great evening here. The food was great and the beer was tasty; Price performance is right here! There is seating outside in good weather. What's also great is that you can order the main courses in small portions, which are filling and sufficient. I also really have to praise our waiter, we haven't been served so nicely in a long time.

I know the “Prague Embassy” from various Christmas parties and also private dinners. I don't know of any restaurant in Frankfurt with such friendly service and such a cozy and authentic atmosphere as here. I am convinced that the “Prague Embassy” is run with passion. I wish the restaurant continued flourishing times.

Very fast service, delicious food, delicious draft beer. Attentive service. A table reservation is required in advance. I can only recommend !

Very nice restaurant and everything was great again

Unfortunately we did not have a positive experience at this restaurant. There was probably a problem with the cash register, which completely overwhelmed the service staff. We had to wait almost 40 minutes for 4 of 6 drinks. The prices do not match those on the online menu or the menu posted outside the restaurant - soups were €1.50 more expensive, the main courses were up to €3 more expensive. Unfortunately, the price-performance ratio is not right at all. The garlic soup, the goulash and the dumplings tasted good - but not enough for 26.90. The portion of Smažák was a joke (see photo), a few fries and a small slice of cheese (at least the tartar sauce served with it was very tasty) as a “small” portion for 17.90 (!). When we asked the service staff, answers were like “yes, there have been complaints about this before.” I've already passed that on and the matter is now resolved." Later, when paying, I added “if only you could have asked how much it was beforehand” and “just write an email to the owners and complain”. Unfortunately, no one was interested in a constructive solution as to how we could clarify the matter. For us it was the first and last visit to this restaurant.

Der erste Eindruck war toll, wir haben die Preise auf der Webseite angesehen und waren überzeugt. Am Restaurant angekommen waren dir Preise im Schaukasten schon teurer aber dann ging es erst los. Wir wurden gesetzt und die Karten kamen. Preise nochmal teurer. Der Kellner nam die Getränke auf, wir mussten 5 Mal nachfragen. Es dauerte 30 Minuten bis das Bier kam. Erste Entschuldigung neue Kasse, die 2. dann, das Faß war leer. Wir wählten das Essen aus und warteten ewig. Dann kam das Essen. Das Gulasch hatte 4 Stücke Fleisch die Mini waren für €26,90 pro Portion. Der Hammer war aber der Käse mit Pommes für €17,80. 10 Pommes und ein mini kleiner frittierter Käse völlig lieblos auf den Teller geknallt. Nach Rückfrage, ob das richtig sei, die Antwort ja, andere Gäste haben sich auch schon beschwert und hier endet die Diskussion. Wir waren echt vor den Kopf gestoßen. Der Service und die Preise eine mega Katastrophe!

Mini portions, unfriendly and completely overpriced. Just don't!

I was looking forward to a nice, cozy evening to eat my favorite dish, Svickova. Unfortunately, the food came much too quickly for my comfort level, especially along with the beer (not a good sign). Then I could choose: either the beer gets stale or it doesn't! more too warm food cold, ready cozy. Unfortunately, I was served Svickova with an unflattering sauce without cream. I have never been presented with something like this during my many stays in Prague. It tasted authentic there, just like grandma's. The boss was nice, the one waiter was less so, and the card was thrown onto the table without a word. I can't say much about the ambience - I was put in the very back seat (despite a reservation) from where you can't see anything. Right next to the entrance to the utility rooms, noise from there included. After 20 minutes I was basically finished, quicker than in a fast food restaurant. I tried to get something good out of the food, but I left most of it because the meat reminded me more of soup meat than, for example, loupaná plec, and it wasn't peppered either. The typical Czech thing was the discussion of how to prepare Svickova, at least I didn't have to pay for the meal. Fair, but I would have rather had a nice evening than a ruined one. I skipped dessert, a big disappointment was enough for me. To nic nebylo. Then I went outside again past all the happy people who had been sitting there for a long time. What did they order?

Sehr angenehmer Ort, um einen Tag ausklingen zu lassen. Service, Speisen und Pilsner Urquell passen sehr gut zum Ambiente.

An extremely good restaurant!! You get a super tasty dish in a beautiful atmosphere with friendly service. Since the portions are well sized, there is the option to order small portions. So you have enough space for dessert :) The restaurant is clean and the service is very quick and attentive. You can eat really well here.

The food was good, the service was very friendly, even with children, and accommodating, and so was the ambience. Unfortunately, some of the windows were broken and therefore couldn't be opened, but the operator can't do anything about that because it was already there and nothing had happened yet. The point suit also exists because there was a changing table, but it was very small, could theoretically only hold less than 10 kg and was inconveniently located in the women's toilet. We were able to change diapers in the car, but luckily you don't really need a car in Frankfurt, so the alternative isn't always available. This becomes particularly difficult with small children.

Wir hatten eine Feier mit mehr als 10 Personen samstagsabends, Es waren alle Plätze besetzt, trotzdem wurden wir zügig und schnell bedient. Wir wurden auch gut beraten denn wir waren noch nie in diesem Restaurant. Die tschechischen Speisen haben allen sehr gut geschmeckt, es gab hinterher keine Meckerei. Toiletten waren sehr sauber wie das ganze Lokal. Das Preisniveau ist allerdings grenzwertig. Wir werden auf jeden Fall gerne wieder kommen und das Restaurant weiterempfehlen.

I do not understand why they give chips from super market , when we oreding frying potates? This is very strange.We think that potates must be fried in restaurant., because the price 5 eur..and in Macdonald is better.Meat in gulash was very dry it must be from deep frizing, because have no flavor.Only mashrums vas good , but there was a few:(

The taste is good and the saltiness is moderate. It is no longer a salty German dish! They are super nice to puppies. They gave us a puppy water basin as soon as we entered the door! Great!

We were in Prague last year and discovered incredibly good Slivovitz there. The sadness was great when we were back in Germany and started looking to buy this delicious drink... no chance ☹ We were all the happier that we discovered the Prague embassy through a tip and got this Slivovitz right here. We can only warmly recommend the restaurant. Hier stimmt einfach alles! Zuerst das Essen - deswegen geht man ja schließlich in ein Restaurant. Es ist FANTASTISCH!! Und absolut typisch und immer super frisch - kein “processed food” oder Ähnliches. Dann die Atmosphäre - schließlich isst das Auge ja mit. Man kommt rein und sagt, ja, hier will ich sein! Die Menschen - alle sind absolut herzlich, freundlich, fast schon familiär. Schon nach wenigen Besuchen wird man wie gute alte Freunde begrüßt. Es ist immer ein Highlight für uns.

Since then we have been there several times because everything is just right: the food, the atmosphere and also the particularly friendly and familiar way we were treated. Schnelle und sehr freundliche Bedienung

What an amazing restaurant. Walked in early Sunday afternoon which was fortunate because they filled up in the early evening. The manager presented the daily dishes and we had trouble deciding because they all sounded delicious. We chose pumpkin soup, venison goulash and goose dumplings. Wow. Home cooked and simply delicious. We ate and smiled the entire meal as the combination of atmosphere and food was a delight to the senses. The entire staff were attentive and friendly. Highly recommended.

Die Bedienung mit den roten Haaren war super lieb und zuvorkommend! Hat Empfehlungen gemacht und war super fix - Dankeschön :o) Ach und die Rotebeetesuppe is echt ne Wucht!!!

Mein Ehemann und ich waren im Sommer 2023 zum ersten Mal in der Prager Botschaft essen und wurden nicht enttäuscht. Wir kamen gerade aus einem einwöchigen Pragurlaub zurück und können sagen, dass das Essen in der Prager Botschaft sehr authentisch ist. Wir haben hier einen wunderbaren Abend in nettem Ambiente bei sehr schmackhaftem Essen und sehr gutem Service verlebt. An das Team der Prager Botschaft: Macht bitte weiter so.

Ich bin durch Zufall auf die Prager Botschaft gestossen und hatte grosses Glueck, ohne Reservierung einen Tisch zu bekommen. Vom Service, der Atmosphäre und den gewaehlten Gerichten war es ein sehr gelungenes Abendessen. Die sehr freundliche Servicekraft sprach Empfehlungen zur Menue Auswahl aus, denen ich freudig gefolgt war und von denen ich nicht entaeutscht wurde. Gerne wieder.

Sehr gutes Essen, tolles Ambiente, begeisterte Bedienungen, espresso wie beim Italiener! 😄

Das Essen ist wirklich ausgezeichnet und der Service war super. Ich hatte Hirschgulasch und kann das nur empfehlen. Die technischen Biere sind super. Schade, dass es keine Tschechen alkoholfreie Biere auf der Karte gibt sondern das klassische deutsche Clausthaler. Leider ist die Akustik in dem Restaurant sehr laut, was eine Kantinenatmosphäre schafft.

Gibt einem tatsächlich ein bisschen das Gefühl eines Kurztrips nach Prag. Absolut empfehlenswert, insbesondere aufgrund des freundlichen Personals :-)

Angenehme Lokalität mit gutem Service. Personal ist sehr freundlich und aufmerksam. Sehr leckeres Essen und leckeres Bier. Empfehlenswert, gerne wieder.

Frankfurt leistet sich den Luxus zwei typische tschechische Restaurants zu haben! Eines davon ist die Prager Botschaft und du erhältst dort tatsächlich authentische tschechische Kost, die wirklich gut schmeckt und wohl auch mit viel Liebe zubereitet ist. Mein Favorit ist immer wieder "Svickova", also der böhmische Rinderbraten, mit Sahnesoße und Knödeln. Eine Top Empfehlung, dazu ein kühles tschechisches Bier, was willst du mehr?!

Management-Summary: Perfekter Service trotz vollem Restaurant. Leckeres Essen von der Tageskarte und der Standard-Karte, gerne wieder. ——- in aller Länge —— Wir sind am Samstag spontan zu zweit zum Essen nach Bornheim. Unsere erste Anlaufstelle war (zum Glück?) voll, so dass Ausweich-Restaurant her musste. Die Prager Botschaft hatte ich auch auf meinem Gedanken-Zettel und wurde direkt von uns angesteuert. Auf den ersten Blick hatten wir auch hier keine Chance, das Restaurant schien voll zu sein - die Kellner fragten uns nach einer Reservierung, die wir leider verneinen mussten :( schade - doch ein kleiner Platz direkt am Tresen mit Barhockern war noch frei, den schnappten wir uns . Freundlich und zügig wurden wir im vollen Laden empfangen und konnten unsere Getränke Wünsche platzieren, welche auch prompt erfüllt wurden. Nach einen Blick auf die spannende Tageskarte und der Karte war klar was wir essen wollen. Kürbis-Risotto mit Kastanien und Rinderbraten mit Klößen und Soße. Beides war sehr lecker - wir waren bestimmt nicht zum letzten Mal hier.

Sehr schön leckeres Hirschgulasch. Das Bier ist frisch und lecker. Der Service ist einfach nur hervorragend und super freundlich.

Echte ehrliche Küche mit Charme und lieber Bedienung

Sehr sehr leckeres Essen und das Beste meine Mutter verträgt hier die Soßengerichte anders als in anderen Restaurants.

Alle Speisen sind hervorragend und das Preis Leistungs Verhältnis stimmt absolut bei Speisen und Getränken. Die Bedienung ist freundlich und die Einrichtung sehr einladend

Ich war mit einem Bekannten in dem Restaurant, nahe dem Krankenhaus Bethanien im Frankfurter Nordend. Es handelt sich um ein JW Altbau mit modernisiertem Gastraumfläche (bodentiefe Verglasung, modernes gepflegtes Mobiliar. Innen ca. 80-90/außen etwa 60 Plätze, teilweise überdacht. Das Lokal war außen fast voll besetzt, drinnen etwa 10 Personen , aber es war auch draußen um die 28 Grad warm. Die Speisekarte umfasst überwiegend klassische deftige tschechische Gerichte und auch die Getränkekarte kann sich sehen lassen. Wir entschieden uns für je 1x Rinder- bzw. Hirschgulasch mit Knödel/Salatbeilage. Dazu ein „Pilsener Urquell“ vom Faß. Das Bier war gut gekühlt und ordentlich gezapft, also schön süffig. Auch das Essen machte einen sehr guten Eindruck, das Fleisch war nicht zerkocht, sondern gut durch, aber noch fest. Die geschnittenen Knödel waren offenbar selbst gemacht und die Soße war sehr lecker. ( Hinweis: es gibt von fast allen Gerichten kleine + große Portionen ). Wir haben uns jeweils für die kleinere Version entschieden und wurden nicht enttäuscht! Der Wirt machte einen freundlichen Eindruck, die Bedienung wirkte etwas genervt oder gehetzt, aber nicht zwingend unfreundlich! Alles in allem eine sehr empfehlenswerte Adresse!

Es schmeckt immer noch böhmisch köstlich. Die Preise haben aber ganz schön angezogen und stehen in keinem Verhältnis.

Das Ambiente geht so, das Personal ist freundlich und bemüht und schließlich sind die angebotenen Speisen auch ganz okay. Irgendwie wirkt das Ganze aber eher unrund, mehr so halbprofessionell - der Funke will nicht überspringen. Preislich ist der Besuch kein "Schnäppchen" ...

Ziegenkäse auf Rote Beete, Rindersuppe mit Knoblauch, Rindergulasch mit Knödeln und im Brotteig. Alles sehr lecker, leider war auch nach einem Spaziergang im nahe gelegenen Park kein Platz mehr für ein Dessert 🥲

Restaurant has nice outside area and is surprisingly quiet for the location. Menu is a clever choice of Czech dishes, Frankfurt tradition and the Schnitzel choice for those not liking any of the above, has choices for vegetarians, therefore great for bigger groups with different preferences. All our choices were excellent - especially the Sauerbraten and Gulasch, portions were big. Service was very friendly and always smiling, making us feeling very welcome. Given the quality of food and portions size, our overall bill was very modest. Happy to come again!

Wir kommen seit Jahren sehr gern. Abgesehen von der wunderbaren Bedienung ist das Essen immer wieder ein Genuss. Mit Freunden, Familie und Kollegen haben wir hier sehr vergnügliche Stunden genossen und vermutlich jedes Gericht auf der Karte gegessen (und die Tageskarte hat auch immer wieder was zu bieten)

One of my fav dishes, svičkova, was sooo good that I was sorry I took the smaller portion. Staff is very friendly and attentive. The atmosphere was great. Sitting outside, having czech beer and eating czech food made my Saturday evening great. I highly recommend this place. P.s. Bring cash, they do not accept cards.

Visited this nice restaurant with our little daughter. The small menu allowed us to make a choice without being overwhelmed, the Svickova and Gulas we had, paired with traditional pilsener beer was simply delicious. The staff was very nice and attentive, the restaurant good looking with sleek interior. We have really enjoyed the time spent there.

Real tasty bohemian- Czech food. Special, authentic and excellent. Don’t miss these flavored. The Palačinky desert is from heaven.

If you want to try something different, you have to visit this restaurant. It is a cozy place situated in the Bornheim area (near Bornheim Mitte station) which serves authentic Czech dishes. Start by ordering a big glass of Czech Beer and the famous Smazak (Crumbed Cheese with Tartar sauce). The main dish menu is somehow limited, and that is why we decided to give only 4 stars to this place. But if you have a look at it, the choice is clear. You have to go with the Goulash served in bread bowl. For those who find the Czech cuisine not very fitting, this restaurant offers selection of schnitzel with different sauces. As for the dessert, we would recommend Tvarohove Knedliky (Cottage Cheese Knödel filled with plums and poppy seed). It is definitely worth it! The service is very attentive and they make sure you enjoy every minute of your stay. We would love to visit this place again, but maybe the limitation of the menu will leave us with no options to try the next time we are there.

Granted, things like potato dumplings with meat are not my thing. However, in this, case, not eating a typical Czech dish would have been a waste...The food was indeed, pretty nice, simple but really good. The "gnocchi" with cheese sauce were more my thing, but heavy. Service was superfriendly, prices ok. If you want to have typical Czech food without travelling, this is the place to go.

This very friendly restaurant is a little off the beaten track but well worth the effort. Situated between the stations of Bornheim Mitte and Seckbacher Landstrasse on the U4. Just a five minute walk from Bergerstrasse and set in an open square. The restaurant serves wonderful genuine Czech food and the menu is comprehensive. Great winter dishes rich in paprika and full of dumplings, through to lighter salads and healthy breakfasts. BUT where this restaurant shines for me is in the cake choices. I am a great cake fiend and the recipes here are wonderful. Rich, varied authentic and reasonably priced - great coffee too!

I lived in Bornheim Mitte for a few weeks whilst on an assignment and to be honest was getting sick of cooking for myself - so I went walking and chanced upon this little gem of a place. I have visited with my fiancee who can spot a speck of dust from 20metres away but she was happy. My Manager wanted to buy me dinner so rather than go to Zeil or WestEnd I thought to try Prager again. I e-mailed Linda who reserved me a table and I again a good night. The food was good - my manager had the ghoulash - which is three meals in one! I had two starters and enjoyed the beer battered chicken. The Rioja (I know it's not Czech) is excellent. I shall be back again soon.

It's a nice cozy restaurant , small and very busy , one needs to make a reservation to avoid disappointment, food is made in a perfect Czech platter , very friendly staff .nice Czech beer and other beer as well as wines . The signature dish is beef roast with brown gravy ...

The restaurant was clean, but the location is away from the downtown core where most tourists frequent. The food was authentic and tasted well. The beer selection could be increased from just Pilsner Urquell. Certainly, I have not found another restaurant in Frankfurt that has Czech beer on tap. The owner is pleasant and friendly, some of the waitresses could pay more attention to their customers.

Nothing stunning but all OK. The inside is bright and clean, but also not very atmospheric. A better selection of Czech beers would be most welcome, and a the waitresses could be a little friendlier and also pay a little more attention.

First impression lasts in especially with this restaurant there were circa 4 tables taken in the restaurant and 2 had reserved signs. When we asked for the possibility to reserve a table for 2. The answer was simply "NO". No explanation, nor asking for what...

Great new restaurant in Bornheim and fairly full on a Friday night; might be worth reserving a table. Very friendly and helpful staff and we actually had a good time. I would have given 4 starts but the dessert of baked apple with nuts, chocolate...

Very helpful staff, I don't read German so was given a English menu. There was 3 of us and we all enjoyed our food. We will be going back again.
