Poseidon in München

It was lovely eating at Poseidon. Great atmosphere and very friendly staff. We had to wait a little while for our food, but it was excellently prepared and delicious. For me, one of the best Greek restaurants in Munich!

Very good shop and good food, everything fresh and good service

Poseidon, Maria-Ward-Strasse. The food and service were as great as we had hoped. However, the assigned seating alcoves in the conservatory were simply too cramped for four people our size, and for the person sitting by the heater, it was a sweaty experience that dampened our enjoyment of the meal.

A very pleasant atmosphere; more family-run than overly chic. The staff offered to hang up our coats, and the rest of the service was also very good. The seating area was particularly suitable for a date, where two people could sit side by side.

The food was very good, the service was a little slow this time, but very polite. Parking is available directly in front of the restaurant or just one street away.

I ate there about nine months ago. I paid €32 per person, and the portion was so small that my girlfriend and I were so hungry we went to get some cake afterward. The food is greasy. The waiter was unfriendly, and when I asked if there was a dish without pork, he curtly replied, "You're at a Greek restaurant. Everything is pork!" The service is bad, and it's expensive. That's the first and last time I'll ever go to Poseidon. The staff should be more attentive and friendly. Not recommended!

We felt completely comfortable.

We had lunch here on Sunday and we enjoyed it very much. All the staff was kind and professional, especially the owner (i think) he helped us with the parking and seemed to be overall a nice person. Our kids played peacefully in the children’s play area giving us the rare opportunity to finish our meals.😅 The staff was also very kind towards them and we are very thankful. 🙏 The food was also great. Thank you for having us, we will come again! 🙏🫶

Just a drink? Not possible... We wanted to have another drink together. The place was empty, and we would have left some of our profits there. But the waiter very rudely told us that "just a drink" wasn't allowed. That's true hospitality. Thanks for nothing.

Very good Greek restaurant in the west of Munich. They recently added a children's play area. I think it's excellent. We always enjoy coming here. After dinner, you can take a pleasant stroll past Nymphenburg Palace to help you digest your meal.

The food is very good, the prices are affordable, and the service is very friendly and welcoming. The waiters learned that I had gotten my driver's license and brought me a small cake with a candle as a gift. The gesture was very kind and spontaneous 💙💙💙

It was incredibly loud, the waiters were extremely stressed, unfriendly, and inattentive. The warm appetizer was a pile of fried zucchini, lovingly placed on the plate. And then we had to wait. The main course took ages to arrive. We ordered lamb fillet with sauce and rice, and a sea bream. At some point, we were no longer hungry after all the waiting and asked for the ordered food to be packed to go. When we got home, we found a piece of dry meat with a dollop of rice and no sauce, and an equally dry sea bream with no side dish at all. What a waste of food. The whole thing cost around €80, including a soft drink and beer. Never again!!!

The sardines were terrible! Dry and tasted bad – I didn't eat them! I complained and wanted to return them, but the owner ignored me and charged me anyway. Also, the staff constantly offer ouzo as a "free drink" to get guests drunk and entice them to consume more. A very bad experience – I definitely won't be returning!

I don't know of any other restaurant in Munich that offers such service. Very attentive and friendly service. The food tastes fantastic! My family and I love it there :)

Nice ambience here and extensive menu. However, I ordered the white beans in sauce and they tested like right out of the can and the tomato sauce was too weak to lift the flavor to Greek. My husband got the mousaka and it was ok but not impressive. There were many people eating so this place must have some dishes good enough to bring customers back so I think 🤔 It's hot or miss here

Amazing food, fantastic service

A standard Greek restaurant with very hospitable rituals – there's plenty of ouzo, which is always a delight – it immediately encourages conversation. The handshake from the owner makes you feel welcome. There's a terrace with a roof, and plenty of space inside. The food is fast and standardized – but there are always specials like tomahawk steak or ribeye. The main course comes with a side salad – unfortunately, the standard balsamic brown sauce is always on it – reminiscent of a cafeteria. The decor is in need of an update; it feels like it hasn't been changed since the beginning – but some people love it that way :-)

A solid Greek restaurant that I've been visiting for many years and have rarely been disappointed. Decent portions, fair prices, a wide selection, a very friendly owner and attentive staff, ouzo on the house, and the occasional dessert are standard. The seating is quite pleasant on the covered terrace (which can also be used as a winter garden) or in the cosy interior. I've also held parties here in the adjoining room with over 20 people, which is also perfectly suited for that.

Today, August 15, 2025, at approximately 12:30 p.m., I called to ask if they were open on the holiday. I received a very rude answer on the phone, "No way, no way." Then I said very politely, "Here, according to your website, it says you're open on the holiday." This strange man then started shouting at me, "When, when, when is lunchtime, but when, when do you want to come?" Then I said "no," in that tone, and wished him a nice day. This gentleman really deserved a different answer from me, but I was always polite and friendly.

A fantastic restaurant. Not only is the food delicious, but friendliness is not just a priority, it's a priority! Children are warmly welcomed here, and the rooms are air-conditioned. Ouzo is ready as soon as you arrive at your table, and children receive a children's schnapps. Absolutely sweet. Despite the many waiters, the chef personally comes to each table and greets you. The food is quick and very tasty, with filling portions! The spaghetti with tomato sauce for kids was tastier than at many Italian restaurants... We were there in warm weather, and everyone got a free slice of watermelon as a farewell. All in all, a fantastic restaurant, wow!

The food was so authentic, the ouzu was spicy and full liquorice and the atmosphere was relaxed and intimate. When we arrived the staff seated us quickly and brought us drinks right after we ordered. The food tasted fantastic and was cooked to perfection. The staff made sure all our needs were met, this is a respectful and wonderful place! Would recommend.

I gave a 20 euro tip. The waiter wanted a 40 euro tip. Because the parking spaces outside were full, I parked in a row where the cars couldn't get out. When someone had to leave, the manager came and I parked again. He guided me into a tight parking space. It took me at least 5 minutes, even though the other car drove away and I wanted to park there. When I got home, I noticed damage to my car.

The same team on site for years, delicious food, large portions

Wir sind eine Sportgruppe und gehen regelmäßig in dieses Restaurant. Wir sind immer sehr zufrieden. Das Essen ist ausgezeichnet und reichlich. Es gibt neben den hervorragenden Hauptgerichten auch viele kleine Gerichte. Und der Chef ist sehr freundlich. Also in jeder HInsicht zu empfehlen.

Very satisfied – we'll be back! After a long absence, we returned to this Greek restaurant – and, as always, it was a complete delight! Six of us were there and we were completely satisfied. The service was very friendly and attentive, and the food was fresh, delicious, and plentiful. We were especially pleased that our son discovered the lovingly designed play area – a real highlight for families with children! We would definitely be happy to return and can wholeheartedly recommend the restaurant.

The ambiance was very lackluster, completely uncomfortable, and the giant screen was a real annoyance to us personally. The food was simply terrible, carelessly slapped onto the plates, and the waiters were unmotivated. We'd rather spend our money at an excellent Greek restaurant.

Very nice atmosphere and the food was delicious. Some of the most authentic Greek food I’ve had outside of Greece. It is also worth noting this restaurant has air conditioning.

After moving away from Munich in 2016, I hadn't been to Poseidon in ages. But everything is just like it used to be. Warm and attentive service. Fantastic food. Absolutely fair prices by Munich standards. It's a shame we don't live around the corner anymore, but the drive is worth it even from further afield. I'll try to come back more often. Thanks to the whole team; you make you feel at home. :-)

Always delicious. One of my favorite restaurants for years.

The kids' corner was nice, but the staff was strange. An older, very authoritarian head waiter who practically bossed me around as a guest, which is completely unacceptable (I wanted to look around the restaurant and was immediately pushed outside into the garden, where there were too many waiters milling around, and I also had to sit among smokers who arrived later - smokers next to the kids' corner!?! The 80s are history.) Added to that was the owner's rounds (Is it hygienic to shake hands with every guest, considering the coronavirus and the cleanliness of other guests' hands? And then I eat the bread with my hands...) - the other waiters were attentive and friendly. Four people served us alternately. Apparently, there were too few guests for the number of waiters at that time of day. And all the guests were supposed to sit in one pile, short distances and all. The food was okay, expensive, like almost everywhere. Ouzo and a delicious dessert were on the house! So maybe a team-building exercise... Next time I'll insist on a seat inside without smokers...

Food is not good, mostly industrial. They tried to charge us 4€ for a glass of tap water... 🙄 One waiter was nice but the other ones were really rude.

I tired this restaurant after my visit to Nymphenburg Palace. It is really a great Greek restaurant, very delicious food, very welcoming staff and great vibes! I will definitely visit it again.

It used to be great. The food was delicious, the staff were very friendly, and the value for money was good. Now the staff are irritated, and the food is overpriced and not as good as it used to be. It's a shame. It used to be our favorite Greek restaurant, but we wouldn't recommend it anymore.

The seafood platter at Poseidon is a must if you're downtown on a Saturday lunchtime. Oysters, lobster, and snails with a glass of champagne, and the weekend can begin.

As a vegetarian/vegan, you're happy about a separate menu. This is especially rare in Greek restaurants. As a father of a toddler, you're also happy about the great play area. However, if you're not allowed to change your child because the "changing table" is in the women's restroom and you're explicitly told that "the woman will change the child," it's more than just annoying. When you also see (through "the woman") that the changing setup is a small corner next to the sink, you feel less than welcome as a family with a toddler. It would be great if dads also had a place to change diapers, and it doesn't end with the child's feet in the sink.

I really like Poseidon. Delicious, friendly service, typically Greek, and cozy. Unfortunately, the prices have increased significantly, as is the case everywhere. The portions are still generous.

Our regular Greek for 24 years, there is actually nothing here that we didn't like. Many birthdays and other celebrations celebrated here. Always a good atmosphere, always fast service, parking spaces in front of the restaurant and a boss who personally appears at the table and greets the guests. This is how I imagine hospitality. The food has always arrived quite quickly. As far as I can remember, regardless of how many guests were in the restaurant, we have never had to wait longer than 10 minutes for the food we ordered. Price-performance ratio is absolutely fine.

Very good Greek - the food was extremely good and plentiful but not too much as often happens. We also really liked the ambience. The service was a bit chaotic for us and there were only four waiters at our table... so we had to order some things more often - but in the end everything arrived as requested. The only thing we were missing was the free ouzo - but that doesn't factor into my rating. What I thought was absolutely great was that there was an extra menu for vegetarians... something I've never experienced before at a Greek restaurant 👍🏻

It was just great! I had the chicken skewers with tomato rice, which was really tasty and perfectly seasoned. There was also a mixed salad that was super fresh and crunchy and the sauce was so delicious! The service was great, totally friendly and attentive. As a surprise, we even got an ouzo on the house! My companion had the lamb shank with tomato sauce and spaghetti, also an absolute highlight! The meat was buttery tender and the sauce had just the right amount of spice. Great food, great service and a really pleasant atmosphere. I'll definitely be back! 5/5 stars! A heartfelt recommendation!

We've been regulars for many years and come to Poseidon for the delicious Greek food, the very pleasant atmosphere, and the excellent service. The chef even greets you with a handshake. The menu is very extensive. If you're looking for vegetarian dishes, order the vegetarian cat! We'll definitely be happy to come back.
