Poseidon in München

The ambiance was very lackluster, completely uncomfortable, and the giant screen was a real annoyance to us personally. The food was simply terrible, carelessly slapped onto the plates, and the waiters were unmotivated. We'd rather spend our money at an excellent Greek restaurant.

After moving away from Munich in 2016, I hadn't been to Poseidon in ages. But everything is just like it used to be. Warm and attentive service. Fantastic food. Absolutely fair prices by Munich standards. It's a shame we don't live around the corner anymore, but the drive is worth it even from further afield. I'll try to come back more often. Thanks to the whole team; you make you feel at home. :-)

Very nice atmosphere and the food was delicious. Some of the most authentic Greek food I’ve had outside of Greece. It is also worth noting this restaurant has air conditioning.

The kids' corner was nice, but the staff was strange. An older, very authoritarian head waiter who practically bossed me around as a guest, which is completely unacceptable (I wanted to look around the restaurant and was immediately pushed outside into the garden, where there were too many waiters milling around, and I also had to sit among smokers who arrived later - smokers next to the kids' corner!?! The 80s are history.) Added to that was the owner's rounds (Is it hygienic to shake hands with every guest, considering the coronavirus and the cleanliness of other guests' hands? And then I eat the bread with my hands...) - the other waiters were attentive and friendly. Four people served us alternately. Apparently, there were too few guests for the number of waiters at that time of day. And all the guests were supposed to sit in one pile, short distances and all. The food was okay, expensive, like almost everywhere. Ouzo and a delicious dessert were on the house! So maybe a team-building exercise... Next time I'll insist on a seat inside without smokers...

Food top, service very nice and the food was as requested

Food is not good, mostly industrial. They tried to charge us 4€ for a glass of tap water... 🙄 One waiter was nice but the other ones were really rude.

I tired this restaurant after my visit to Nymphenburg Palace. It is really a great Greek restaurant, very delicious food, very welcoming staff and great vibes! I will definitely visit it again.

It used to be great. The food was delicious, the staff were very friendly, and the value for money was good. Now the staff are irritated, and the food is overpriced and not as good as it used to be. It's a shame. It used to be our favorite Greek restaurant, but we wouldn't recommend it anymore.

The seafood platter at Poseidon is a must if you're downtown on a Saturday lunchtime. Oysters, lobster, and snails with a glass of champagne, and the weekend can begin.

As a vegetarian/vegan, you're happy about a separate menu. This is especially rare in Greek restaurants. As a father of a toddler, you're also happy about the great play area. However, if you're not allowed to change your child because the "changing table" is in the women's restroom and you're explicitly told that "the woman will change the child," it's more than just annoying. When you also see (through "the woman") that the changing setup is a small corner next to the sink, you feel less than welcome as a family with a toddler. It would be great if dads also had a place to change diapers, and it doesn't end with the child's feet in the sink.

I wish I good give more than 5 stars for the quality of the service! We had a lovely time, I enjoyed my Zander Fillet with a fresh pint of Augustiner Heller! Plus, dogs are welcome!

I really like Poseidon. Delicious, friendly service, typically Greek, and cozy. Unfortunately, the prices have increased significantly, as is the case everywhere. The portions are still generous.

Our regular Greek for 24 years, there is actually nothing here that we didn't like. Many birthdays and other celebrations celebrated here. Always a good atmosphere, always fast service, parking spaces in front of the restaurant and a boss who personally appears at the table and greets the guests. This is how I imagine hospitality. The food has always arrived quite quickly. As far as I can remember, regardless of how many guests were in the restaurant, we have never had to wait longer than 10 minutes for the food we ordered. Price-performance ratio is absolutely fine.

Exceptional service, food & beverage! Blew away expectations. Lamb shanks fell off the bone. Gyro plate was perfect. Wine was much better than expected.

Very good Greek - the food was extremely good and plentiful but not too much as often happens. We also really liked the ambience. The service was a bit chaotic for us and there were only four waiters at our table... so we had to order some things more often - but in the end everything arrived as requested. The only thing we were missing was the free ouzo - but that doesn't factor into my rating. What I thought was absolutely great was that there was an extra menu for vegetarians... something I've never experienced before at a Greek restaurant 👍🏻

It was just great! I had the chicken skewers with tomato rice, which was really tasty and perfectly seasoned. There was also a mixed salad that was super fresh and crunchy and the sauce was so delicious! The service was great, totally friendly and attentive. As a surprise, we even got an ouzo on the house! My companion had the lamb shank with tomato sauce and spaghetti, also an absolute highlight! The meat was buttery tender and the sauce had just the right amount of spice. Great food, great service and a really pleasant atmosphere. I'll definitely be back! 5/5 stars! A heartfelt recommendation!

We've been regulars for many years and come to Poseidon for the delicious Greek food, the very pleasant atmosphere, and the excellent service. The chef even greets you with a handshake. The menu is very extensive. If you're looking for vegetarian dishes, order the vegetarian cat! We'll definitely be happy to come back.

We've been coming here regularly with groups of two to four people since 2014. It's always worth a visit and, for us, definitely the best Greek restaurant in Munich!

Great care is taken to ensure guests feel comfortable. The food and service are top-notch. You'll be greeted with a glass of ouzo from the chef himself. The conservatory and the restaurant are decorated in a Greek style. It's best to call ahead and make a reservation.

I've had indigestion twice already after eating something that was apparently undercooked. Grumpy waiters with the smell of sweat don't make the ordering experience particularly good and to top it off there was a gnawed olive floating in the ouzo (no joke!). Never again.

!!Caution!! Here, an amount of tip chosen by the waiter is automatically added to the bill. If you're not careful, you'll end up paying double the tip because the waiter neither asked for the amount nor gave any indication of the tip. As a guest, I would still like to decide for myself how much to tip or at least be informed that this is already on the bill.

the boss is very kind and hospitable and so is his daughter, the staff is also great, but unfortunately the waiter who served us (without hair) I emphasize he straight up extorted us, we were 11 people, he determined the tip himself which we didn't like and he was aggressive when we had to pay each other we wanted to pay each separately because one of us had cash and most of them with a card and he didn't want to pay because it would take a lot time that was cheeky of him! I appeal to the kind boss and his daughter please sit down and talk to this person because what he is doing is not okay this way he is stopping you customers who can be your regular visitors!!!!!!!

Super delicious food. Most of the waiters are also nice, friendly and attentive. Only one waiter in the winter garden is almost always irritable and grumpy. But we often go there because of the food and there is now a small play area for smaller children (up to 4 years old).

Vegetarian food was covered in an incredible amount of oil and wasn't cooked through, rice was overcooked, absolutely unappetizing to eat. The price is WAY too expensive! No recommendation.

Griechen würden den Chef des Hauses wahrscheinlich als Καριόλης betiteln, würde er sie so behandeln wie unsereins. Angesichts seines rüpelhaften Benehmens gegenüber der Kundschaft rückt die mindere Qualität der Speisen in den Hintergrund. Zwei Kostproben: Auf die Frage, welche Unterschiede zwischen der einen oder anderen Vorspeise bestehen, die Antwort: „Du kannst essen was Du willst!“ Frage: „Könnte unser Kind bitte etwas Käse zu den Spaghetti haben?" Antwort: „Käse, Käse, was für Käse? Es gibt viele Käse! Willst Du vielleicht vom Pferd oder Parmesan?“ Nun könnte man annehmen, dass der Chef sich vielleicht entschulidgen würde, nachdem sich unsereins genötigt sah, das Lokal vorzeitig zu verlassen. Denkste! Er kam hinterher und maßregelte: „Du brauchst nicht wiederkommen!“ So soll es sein, Μαλακισμένο (würden Griechen sagen, nicht unsereins).

Die Bedienungen hatten zwar teils einen speziellen Charme, aber alle waren aufmerksam, flink und hilfsbereit. Wir hatten am Feiertag nur ein wenig Appetit und hatten mit der guten gemischt-kalt/warmen Vorspeiseplatte und extra Knoblauch-Fladenbrot (normaler Brotkorb war schon dabei) genug, um sehr satt zu werden. Einen Hauptgang hätten wir nicht mehr verkraftet. Vorweg gab es entweder Ouzo oder alkoholfreien Erdbeershot, hinterher noch zwei Scheiben Melone aufs Haus. Wir probieren es gerne wieder aus, wenn wir mal wieder vor Ort sind.

April 14 , 2024. I living in Munich many years but this is my fist experience with this restaurant and I definitely don’t want to come back! Please avoid this restaurant! Horrible service! You dont feel welcome! The food was horrible! Greek salad with very old vegetables and almost no feta cheese . Fish plate with not fresh and completely burned and over cooked fish !The Octopus was so burned that it was not possible to eat ! The waiter didn’t asked why the food was returned almost untouched ! I made an order of dessert to go and the waiter didn’t inform me that they put ice cream together with the cake . When I arrived at home and opened my package with the cake - it was Disgusting picture of Completely melted ice cream with Completely wet and bad cake ! I put everything in the garbage ! I paid for this horrible experience more than € 80 !

Food very good, would love to come back.

The restaurant is nicely decorated. The food was ok, but not tasty. A bottled dressing on the salad, not homemade. Only a few crumbs of feta on the Greek salad, far too expensive for 13 euros. The packaged ketchup is placed directly on the plate with the fries. Not very appetizing. Overall, the price/performance ratio is not right.

We loved it here. The food was so amazing. The service was superb. The atmosphere was fun and relaxing in the garden. Great way to get a good break after walking the botanical gardens. Korfu plate and the Psiti feta appetizer.

Very attractively decorated Greek restaurant with a good selection of food. The staff is very attentive, friendly and accommodating. Very flexible when it comes to varying the dishes even for lunch - only a small surcharge. Food and drinks were served quickly and were very tasty. 😋👌 Really highly recommended! 👍 A free parking lot nearby (mostly full). Parking on the side streets is possible to a limited extent.

Unfortunately it's no longer what it used to be. We used to go there often, but now there are definitely better Greek restaurants in the area. The parking lot is already a disaster, far too narrow. The staff is often not attentive and it takes time to get your attention. The food is average at best, the baked calamari was quite tough and the mushrooms in Metaxa sauce used to taste better. And all of this at pretty steep prices. A pity.
