We went to Vis à Vis on Monday for Schnitzel Day – and it was definitely worth it! For just €8.50, there was a wide selection of schnitzels to choose from. Everything was fresh, delicious, and the portions were generous. The service was very friendly and fast – we immediately felt welcome. We didn't visit the hotel itself, but the food and the overall impression of the restaurant were excellent. We'll definitely be back!

Delicious food at a great price.

Despite prior arrangement and reservation, the table wasn't set for the correct number of people. Since the remaining tables were already occupied by other guests, a satisfactory solution couldn't be found at short notice. Frustrated, we had to eat the pizza, which I found tasteless, at home. At least we were given a discount as consolation. Nevertheless, the location was easily accessible and parking was good.

A very large pizzeria with many tables, always quite crowded and therefore noisy. The food is good and inexpensive. They also have a schnitzel day for schnitzel fans.

I tried to order seven pizzas by phone outside of regular opening hours – solely for pickup after opening, without expecting anything to be prepared beforehand. Unexpectedly, an employee answered the phone, sounding audibly annoyed from the start. When I placed my order, she sighed, clearly irritated, before taking it. During the call, I was repeatedly told in a curt tone that I could only pick up the pizzas at 5:10 p.m. This was perfectly fine with me, and I made that clear several times. I finally arrived at the restaurant at 5:06 p.m. – the pizzas were already ready. Despite this, the employee behind the counter just looked at me and reiterated "5:10," even though the order was obviously ready and then handed to me immediately. Unfortunately, the unfriendly impression continued at the restaurant. The women behind the counter seemed condescending towards me. When I asked for a receipt, I received the curt reply that I always have to request such things directly on the phone, as it's "too complicated" to create one retroactively. From my own six years of experience in the restaurant industry, I know it only takes a few clicks. On the positive side, the pizza itself was absolutely delicious! However, when ordering seven pizzas, I felt neither welcome nor valued. The service was the only, but unfortunately decisive, drawback for me. The kitchen staff does an excellent job, but I cannot recommend the service in its current form.

We weren't entirely satisfied with the service. We had a child with us at the table, and they forgot about him. The food was only prepared after we asked about it. Another dish was missing bread, and we had to ask for it and wait for that as well. All the other guests received a complimentary shot of schnapps when they paid, but we didn't! The food itself was very good. The portions were generous.

This hotel exceeded my expectations in every way! From the warm welcome at check-in to the farewell, the service was excellent. The rooms were spotlessly clean and comfortable, and the entire hotel exuded an atmosphere of luxury and hospitality. What impressed me most, however, was the hotel's restaurant, which boasts an exquisite selection of delicious dishes. The staff was always attentive and courteous. I wholeheartedly recommend this hotel and would return in a heartbeat!

We ate there again today. Our sixth time this year. So far, we've spent over €200 there. It was shortly after 2 p.m. when we wanted to leave. Almost all the parking spaces were free. A small black car was parked in the exit. Apparently, it belonged to an employee. When I pointed out that he was blocking the exit, I got the rude reply: "I have to park here. I could drive back 20 meters and use the entrance to get out." A complaint to the pizzeria owner unfortunately didn't help. We definitely won't be coming back.

Even with a full house, they made room for us in the basement. Everything was great, nothing to complain about.

As is typical in restaurants, the drinks were a bit overpriced, and unfortunately, neither of my drinks were filled to the fill line. It's a shame, but not a deal-breaker. We were also missing a set of cutlery; we had reserved for six people but only received cutlery for five. The atmosphere is really great, although it can get a bit noisy when the restaurant is full. There are unfortunately too few parking spaces. However, I'll gladly come back again.

Delicious food in a lovely setting. However, the waiter this evening—I believe his name was Patrick—was very rude and incompetent. That's how you lose your regular customers.

We ordered takeout (cream of tomato soup, bruschetta, Greek salad, pizza bread, and rigatoni arrabbiata). Pickup was quick and easy, and the ingredients were generally fresh. However, the taste was disappointing. The cream of tomato soup tasted like tomato sauce from a carton, the pizza bread was cold and seemed to have been sitting out for a while. The bruschetta consisted of Turkish flatbread with a topping that was more reminiscent of bruschetta. The Greek salad was tasty, but it didn't resemble a classic Greek salad at all. I don't mean to speak ill of anyone, but after two visits, I'm unfortunately not convinced. It's a shame – with a little more attention to detail, the food could be significantly better.

Yesterday was our first time at Vis á Vis, using the Schlemmerblock (a discount voucher booklet), and we were pleasantly surprised. The photo in the book had suggested a small pizzeria with spartan decor, but instead, we found ourselves in front of a pizzeria with large windows, plenty of seating, and ample parking. Even though it was very busy and we had only called ahead, we were given a nice table. The menu is very diverse, offering many meat dishes in addition to pizza and pasta. The number of other diners' plates showed that this selection is quite popular. We ordered a portion of mussels in tomato sauce as a starter, followed by a salami pizza with double cheese and spaghetti carbonara as our main courses. For dessert, we had a portion of tiramisu. We placed the Schlemmerblock on the table, and the server immediately saw it when taking our order and removed the coupon. She explained that she needed the coupon when taking our order; it wouldn't be possible to add it later! We thoroughly enjoyed our meal. The mussels in tomato sauce were served with flatbread and were absolutely delicious. The pizza, with its fluffy yet crispy crust, was also fantastic. The spaghetti carbonara, made with ham and cream instead of bacon, egg, and Parmesan, was exactly to my liking. Unfortunately, the tiramisu had taken on a refrigerator taste and wasn't as tasty. But we were very satisfied and quite full from the generous portions. The spaghetti carbonara was free thanks to the discount voucher, and we know we'll definitely be back!

Don't go here with a discount voucher. I can understand that it's not really profitable for restaurants if people order two dishes and share a bottle of water. We were there with our child, and unfortunately, they didn't offer children's meals, so our child and I ordered a regular dish. My husband wanted to try the mussels. We would have liked to try all three desserts and get two pizzas for the older children to take away. Unfortunately, we didn't get that far because we presented the discount voucher before ordering, which wasn't well received. The server informed us that the mussels would now cost an extra €4. All in all, the discount voucher was a real mood killer. It's a shame because the restaurant actually seemed nice, and we would have liked to try it, but after the negative experience, we will avoid this restaurant in the future.

The restaurant is my absolute favorite place 🫶 the food is incredibly delicious and the prices are very affordable. That's why I come here 2-3 times a month. I can't comment on the hotel rooms upstairs, though, as I didn't use them.

We've been regular customers for many years and are completely satisfied every time. The food is always excellent, and there's absolutely nothing to complain about. Pickup is always smooth and very quick. The staff is also extremely friendly and works quickly – everything just works perfectly here!

We made a reservation at the restaurant, had to wait a short while, and then the table was free. The food arrived within a reasonable time and was OK. From the beginning, we had our snack block at the edge of the table for everyone to see. In the end, it was rejected because we didn't shout loudly and clearly to the stressed-out wait staff that we had a snack block. I don't think we'll come back, but the owner can't care that the restaurant is always full.

A family member celebrated his birthday there – and honestly? It wasn't a normal evening. From the very first minute: great atmosphere, attentive service, and spot-on food! Crispy pizza, perfect pasta – everything was simply amazing. And the best part: You don't feel like a guest here, but like part of the family. And you know what the absolute best thing about it is? You walk out, laugh, are full – and just think to yourself: This is exactly how it should be!

Good accommodation for away games in Mainz

The price-performance ratio here is 100% right. The menu is very extensive, the pizzas are well-filled and crispy. The meat and pasta portions are generous. The service is particularly outstanding. The restaurant was packed, but the waitress was still very friendly and attentive. The dishes were served promptly. I also like that the salads are available as small portions.

I am absolutely disappointed with Vis à Vis. The loyalty program, which is actively promoted here, was not honored on four consecutive deliveries. Each time, I was refused the promised stamp, even though the drivers assured me they would provide it "next time." I have informed the restaurant in writing about this repeated defect – unfortunately, to date, without any response. In my opinion, the whole thing represents a clear violation of applicable consumer law, particularly with regard to misleading advertising and inadequate fulfillment of contractual agreements (Section 5 of the Unfair Competition Act, Sections 241 (2) and 311 (2) of the German Civil Code). If a company actively promotes a loyalty program, it must also reliably provide this service. I recommend avoiding this restaurant if you value transparent and honest customer relationships. Such practices are simply unacceptable.

Modern and brightly furnished rooms. We had a (really) small room. The double bed is quite narrow. It's fine for one or two nights. The bathroom, however, is pleasantly large and modernly furnished. The towel hook hanging over the toilet brush... totally unacceptable. But I knew how to deal with it (from experience). The hotel is located in an industrial park. The noise level varies. It's moderate from the street. It's quite disturbing from the field/highway. (With the window open.) The pizzeria deserves special mention. Pleasant ambiance, terrace for outdoor seating, and very reasonable prices. A rump steak with herb butter and fries plus salad for just under €20.

The food was quite good, although it took a while, as did the waitresses' service. What ruined the whole experience, however, was that even though I had a voucher (online from a third-party provider) and I had told the waitress this before ordering, and she clearly acknowledged it with my companion's confirmation, she didn't accept it when paying. Apparently, she couldn't remember it, even though my companion and I were 100% sure she had accepted the voucher before we ate. In the end, we had to pay the full amount. Unfortunately, this made the service look bad!

Very good food, lots of space, great for parties of all kinds, pleasant staff, lovely terrace and plenty of parking. We'd be happy to come back anytime. PS: They even have Bolognese schnitzel on request, which unfortunately isn't on the menu.

The pizzeria is very good. Whether it's pasta or pizza...very tasty. Friendly and very good service. The rooms are very clean and well-equipped. The tram is close by, and you can quickly get to the center of Mainz. We've been there several times and will be back!

Our second visit to Vis à Vis – and we were thrilled again! 🌟 The food is fresh, excellent, and even the starter was a highlight. All our requests were met, and the service was super friendly and attentive. Plenty of seating inside and outside, fair prices, and a great atmosphere. We only visited the restaurant, not staying at the hotel – but we absolutely recommend it for dinner!

Kerb Tuesday, August 12th, was a complete disaster. I had actually wanted to reserve a table for six people at 5:30 p.m. to eat liver dumplings, but was told that it would be quite full by then and whether we could come at 7 p.m. No sooner said than done, we arrived at the restaurant on time, only to discover that the liver dumplings were sold out—what a disappointment. Now we have to wait another year for the next Kerb in Bretzenheim, but whether we'll reserve at the same restaurant again is still questionable. A very disappointed guest.

Back here after 25 years Expanded to a hotel Like

Normally, this restaurant deserves 5 stars. But I ordered a French onion soup, which apparently said "my own imagination." But it was water-soluble, with red cabbage and onions, and tasted terrible. But otherwise, the food was amazing. Pasta with scallops, cheese, and mushrooms. Excellent. We were there with a gourmet block. In the restaurant, you can sit down with the air conditioning. Staff friendly, but a bit overwhelmed. But always helpful. Parking right outside. And perfectly suitable for wheelchair users.

We ate at the pizzeria for the first time in August 2025. The food was delicious! The portions were large, the prices very reasonable. The service was extremely friendly, and the atmosphere was very pleasant. We felt very comfortable there and will definitely come back! I do have a small suggestion, though: Since I have a vegetarian in the family, I would like to see one or two vegetarian highlights on the menu. Something that not every restaurant offers, like celery schnitzel. Unfortunately, every restaurant has the vegetarian options there, and the number of vegetarians is growing steadily. I think it's time to get a bit more inventive here. But that applies to most restaurants! I definitely trust this restaurant to be more inventive, and my daughter would certainly appreciate it! Very tasty food and great ambience

First impressions were very positive; the starters arrived quickly and were also very good. When ordering, I asked if I could have tagliatelle instead of gnocchi for my main course, and I was assured it would be fine. Shortly before the food arrived, I was told it was made with gnocchi and whether that was okay. I accepted it; mistakes happen. However, from the moment the food arrived, we were barely served. Our plates remained on the table for 20-30 minutes after we had finished. We weren't even asked if everything was okay, if the food tasted good, etc. We sat there for over an hour afterward; we had to get our attention so we could order something to drink. Unfortunately, no one came to us after that, even though the place was no longer full and the waiters were standing at the counter. We wanted to order a pizza to go and dessert each, but unfortunately, that didn't happen because it took too long. We had to walk up to the counter ourselves to finally pay. The food was quite good, but the service was terrible. I wouldn't go back.

We spent one night there. It was simply fantastic! I can recommend it 100%. The three-bed room was spacious and, above all, very clean! Everything looked very new. The man who handed over the keys was very polite, and check-in was very quick. We were also very tired after a 9-hour drive with traffic jams. There's Aldi, Lidl, Edeka, and a few more around the corner...

***Update*** The operator's response is untrue and has nothing to do with this review. This isn't about a group of 22 people or vouchers. This is about poor, unfriendly service and undercooked dishes. We actually didn't encounter any friendliness during our entire stay. This review isn't fake, and the description reflects our actual experience (raw meat, for example). This profile isn't fake either. I don't usually write many reviews online. However, our experience here was so bad that I wanted to inform the public. ***Original message*** We can only advise against this and give it one star because less is the only way. We waited a very long time for our food today. Unfortunately, some of the meat was raw and was only reluctantly "repaired." We had to place drink orders several times before we finally got something.

I can't really understand the positive reviews here. I was here with a friend, and we both ordered the farmer's skewer (€21 each), one with fries and the other with croquettes as a side dish. When the dishes arrived after a long wait, both were still raw (pork!). We had the food taken back to the kitchen to be cooked through. When the waitress brought the food again, I suddenly had croquettes as a side dish, and the food was still raw?!? I asked the waitress why I suddenly had the wrong side dish, to which she contradicted me quite vigorously, saying that I definitely should have had croquettes as a side dish. A bit strange, considering I know exactly what side dish was on my plate just moments before?! She then brought fries that were pretty dried out. To top it all off, my friend found a dead fly in her food. What a disaster—I'm not going here again.

The rump steak was very tasty and tender. I ordered it with onions and extra herb butter. Unfortunately, the herb butter had completely melted in the container between the lettuce leaves and was practically nonexistent, hence one star deduction.

Once and never again! We wanted to have a nice evening together and were lured by the positive reviews. In retrospect, that was a real mistake! First of all, we had to wait forever for the food, so much so that we just wanted to leave. When the food finally arrived, it had meat in it, even though we're vegetarians! The waitress said she couldn't possibly know. Um, sorry, but if you order something vegetarian, there shouldn't be any meat in it! An absolute no-go. I've truly lost all trust in this restaurant and can only advise against a visit!

The pizzeria is easily accessible by car. It offers plenty of free parking. The pizzeria has modern decor. There's also a terrace. The service is very friendly and quick. The food and drinks are reasonably priced. You can also get good schnitzel and meat here, which isn't always a given at a pizzeria. The portions are perfectly adequate. Special requests, such as side dishes, are accommodated. I recommend making a reservation, though. Unfortunately, the pizzeria is no longer an insider tip.

Monday - Schnitzel Day! Delicious schnitzel with croquettes and salad for €8.50—what more could you want?!

We stayed there for two nights and had the small room. It's really small, but very nice. The bathroom with shower is very good, and the bed is only 1.40 m wide, but the mattress is great. There's also a roof terrace, which is also nice. We've been there many times for dinner, and it was always really good, as was the service. The prices are also really reasonable. We've already booked for our next stay.

I ordered again today for pickup, and it was very disappointing. For the second time, despite clearly stating that there was no pork or minced meat (I'm a Muslim!), it still contained minced meat. That's an absolute no-go. If you express such a request, it MUST be taken seriously. For that price, I expect care and respect. Never again.

2 days ago, a table was reserved for 4 people at 6 p.m. via phone. On day X, at 6 p.m., no one knows what for. The place was full. They made us stand there for 20 minutes, so we went to the Greek restaurant. I can't stand here anymore. So, I gave it another chance. Yesterday, I ordered 2 schnitzels and a pizza. What's missing is a schnitzel? Simply horrible. This will definitely be my last order. I hope the owner speaks up.

We ordered schnitzel three times by phone today because Monday is "schnitzel day." The driver arrived and said it would be €41. There's no indication on the menu that the full price is charged on holidays. After asking by phone, they just said it's on the website. Unfortunately, I couldn't find any information on the website either.

Highly recommended for families with small children in nice weather. Service was excellent and every special request was fulfilled. Children could have fun in the large sandbox while you relaxed on the terrace. The food was also excellent value for money.

We went to the restaurant with our family (4 people). Mondays are always schnitzel day there. All schnitzels are offered there for €8.50 including salad, fries or croquettes. The service is friendly & attentive. The food is good. The other dishes on the menu are also recommended. Unfortunately I can't say anything about the hotel.

I ordered a pizza and “gypsy schnitzel” and experienced the biggest disappointment ever. The pizza was supposed to have mild pepperoni, but it was spicy, which I find unacceptable because there are actually people who are not allowed to eat anything spicy for health reasons. The classic gypsy schnitzel is served in a pepper/tomato sauce with onions, but here a schnitzel was carelessly thrown into the simplest tomato sauce. Absolutely no trace of peppers. When I called and asked what that was supposed to be, the gentleman said that's how they do it. Well, if they should do it like that, it's just wrong 🤷🏻‍♀️. Ah yes and back to the pizza, I am 99% sure that it was made from ready-made dough. Such restaurants are trashing Italian cuisine and should be ashamed of what they are trying to sell to people and sell it as something else. Tfu, never again.

I recently visited Pizzeria Vis à Vis and tried the spaghetti bolognese there. The pasta was cooked al dente and the Bolognese sauce had a hearty taste and a pleasant spice. The portion was generous and served with freshly grated parmesan. The ambience of the restaurant is cozy, but it can get a bit noisy when it is full. The service was friendly and attentive. Overall, a recommended dish for lovers of Italian cuisine.

Delicious food, but long waiting time.

We ordered 2 schnitzels. Unfortunately, only one came with a side salad. The supplier said there was no one with the cream schnitzel. Sorry, the menu from the mailbox says something different. The fries were unsalted and with hair. The cream sauce and the salad dressing are probably ready-made sauce. Unfortunately only 2 stars remain.
