Pizzeria Vis á Vis in Mainz

The new Vis a Vis restaurant has become very nice. Large, tastefully furnished, I would describe the atmosphere as modern and cozy. The team is refreshingly warm, attentive and very friendly. When you walk past you are always smiled at and we feel very comfortable here. As always, the food is delicious and every wish can be fulfilled here, no matter how special it is. Coming back to Vis a Vis is always rewarded, so it is always a pleasure for us to dine here. We had another perfect evening here with friends yesterday.

We didn't use the hotel, but we did use the restaurant. We ate here because of the gourmet block. The restaurant was completely booked, the staff was extremely friendly and very nice. Pizza bread and grilled pepperoni as a starter, two large pizzas as a main course. The portions are very good, we took half a pizza with us because it was just too much. Nice crispy base, good topping. We enjoyed it and enjoyed it, we'll be back (even without a gourmet block)

No heating! Bad service! Lousy food! You sit here and eat with a jacket on because it's icy and apparently there's no heating on, despite the single-digit temperatures outside. The service hardly does the bare minimum, no hello, we organized salt and pepper ourselves, the lady ran away when we were paying. We then placed the card reader on the counter ourselves. The pizza had very poor ingredients: olives with pits, not even half a pepper on the vegetarian pizza, which overall tasted like cardboard. Hygiene in the toilets wasn't good either. Just again and definitely not a recommendation.

Very tasty food. Above all, I was absolutely positively surprised by the meat dishes. We only saw pizzas and pasta dishes on the neighborhood tables. But they were big and looked good. Since the plates were all eaten, it seems to have been tasty. Price performance ratio was also very good. The decor was plain and simple, but clean. The hotel was not used. Therefore no statement about it.

I'm very disappointed, I was looking forward to a great evening today and was reprimanded by the waiter because the gourmet block wasn't immediately visible, even though I mentioned it while ordering. Apparently he had already sent it and couldn't change anything about it. I am generally willing to compromise and love to give good reviews. In this case, however, despite all my understanding of the stress that the service staff is certainly exposed to, I cannot accept the tone that has been adopted here. We were literally scolded and reprimanded in a super unfriendly way. It didn't help that the gentleman admitted at the end that he was simply having a bad day. I'm really shocked.

From the moment we entered the restaurant, their warm greeting and friendly manner made us feel welcome. Sarah has a remarkable charisma that manages to create a relaxed yet professional atmosphere. She was always attentive without being intrusive and was always there if we needed anything. Her knowledge of the menu was impressive; She was able to give us detailed information about each dish and absolutely convinced us with her recommendations. Particularly noteworthy is her talent for always maintaining an overview, even in hectic situations, while at the same time serving every guest with a smile. Even though the restaurant was full, she never kept us waiting and always had a kind word to say. Her positive attitude and commitment made us feel completely comfortable. Thanks to Sarah's excellent service, our evening was an unforgettable experience. It is rare to find such professional and warm service. I often order a pizza with my colleagues during the late shift and I look forward to it every time. Delicious, not too thick pizza base with a nice crispy edge. Toppings are also always good and very digestible. Kind regards and a big “thank you” to the kitchen at Vis a Vis.

Super nice service. Very helpful. Unfortunately I only got my food after everyone had finished their food. My meat was stringy and I had an indefinable broth on my plate. I was probably unlucky that day because the chef was probably in a bad mood.

Schnitzel was great, only on the pizza the sausage was under the cheese so it wasn't a bit crispy and there was way too much sausage on the pizza and too much mozzarella on it.. Gouda is much tastier, it's all a matter of taste.

We spontaneously wanted to reserve a table, it's not necessary, just come along! Arrival: Parking in front of the door, guest parking, parking on the street or opposite the large customer parking lot of some shops. At first we were shocked, Monday evening at 7:30 p.m. - it was very, very well attended, 2 large rooms inside and an outside area. Ground floor - simple, modern furnishings. Friendly boss - can we find a place, inside or outside? We got a seat, a waitress was there immediately, ordered, and the food came. In fact, it only took a few minutes. Well, it was schnitzel day - for €8.50 including fries and salad!! Well, the waitress noticed that she was overloaded and we had to ask about the salad. Later, when I ordered the second drink, I saw my grappa standing alone on the counter and it was also forgotten. The boss helped out and cleared away the plates, something you don't see often. The portions were sufficient and the taste was good. I'm not a fan of homemade salad dressing, I prefer vinegar and oil, but this was tasty. You will see us again - we promise.

The hotel rooms above the restaurant are very nice. Modern and stylishly furnished and it is very clean and the whole building smells really fresh :) The food in the restaurant was delicious and the service was top 👍 Location is also good, supermarkets can be reached quickly and there is a leisure center right next door where you can, among other things. can go bowling.

Tasteless onion soup (addressed by the waitress: "It's a matter of taste"), croquettes for the Wiener Schnitzel were not fully baked (the dish only comes with lemon, no salad or similar, just dry). Bread from bruchetta inedible, soaked in vinegar. The lasagne was also absolutely not tasty. The pasta plates tasted old. Then the onion soup and the croquettes were brought up: "Why didn't you say anything?" - well, the waitresses weren't available to the guests, but disappeared. I'm just reviewing the restaurant now.

Today I went there for dinner with friends for the first time. Very attentive service, clean and modern restaurant with a terrace and parking spaces in front of the door. Extensive menu with delicious food and the usual drinks. The food came quite quickly, the portions were pleasantly large, we were all very satisfied. Good value for money and payment with EC card is possible. We would love to come back...

Horribly bad food and completely wrongly prepared Carpaccio -> beef slices on iceberg lettuce with pickled pepperoni and rubber parmesan strips inedible!! Greek farmer's salad -> feta cheese cubes softened with dressing on iceberg lettuce. Inedible and completely wrongly prepared. Pizza bread -> small pizzas with ready-made sauce🤢

Had the food delivered to us. Unfortunately not recommended: The onion soup "in the original French style" consisted of a tasteless, transparent broth with a few pieces of onion in it without toast and cheese. The shrimp cocktail was very watered down and topped with lettuce to give the illusion of bulk. The same was done with the carpaccio. The accompanying pizza bread was completely missing.

We didn't go to the hotel, but to the pizzeria. Very, very tasty, very well priced. Located near a commercial area. But it was very well attended.

Third visit and bad service again. After we had to wait twice for our food in the restaurant, we tried picking it up this time. Of the 8 meals we ordered, two were not included. Quality is below average. It's a shame, Vis a Vis used to be a good address.

Location according to maps in the industrial area but well connected, easy to reach and with cafes/supermarkets nearby. Very nice staff, rooms adequately equipped and very clean, ideal for a (long) weekend. Free parking space. Quiet at night. We would come back.

Nice modern Italian with a large terrace. Were here through the Schlemmerblock and the food was good. Ate bruschetta and a large salad. The service is good and it's really pleasant to sit outside. The interior is also beautifully designed. Cash/card payment possible.

I can't comment on what the rooms are like since I didn't stay there. The food was very good and plentiful, the service tried to please you 👍 We will come back 🤘

A very nice restaurant 😊, offers a lot of space and you have the opportunity to get seats that are super comfortable, whether outside or inside. Children have the opportunity to play in the sandpit. The staff is very friendly and always has a smile for the guests. The food is very good. The portions are large and the dishes are inexpensive. The restaurant offers the possibility of renting space for events. The restaurant is wheelchair accessible and has a spacious disabled toilet. The only thing I would have trouble with is if I took public transport. Because you have to walk a long distance there. The restaurant is therefore easier to reach by car. The advantage that the restaurant is located in Bretzenheim's commercial area is that it doesn't bother any neighbors if it gets louder during an event 😄. The restaurant is fully recommended.

İt's a medium-quality place. I've tried different meals- all pretty average. Pizza is poor. Steak- rather not. Salad- nothing mind-blowing (especially the dressing is pretty fatty, and tastes like from the discounter supermarket. Schnitzel- probably best choice. Don't expect too much from German customer service. The waitress was normal. When we pointed out that there were little pieces of something in the espresso (which apparently is a normal thing with their machine) she could have been a little more customer friendly as those pieces aren't supposed to be there. İf you want to spend not too much money on ok food where parking lots are guaranteed, this restaurant is going to be your best friend :)

I can't say anything about the hotel, we only went to the Pizzeria Vis a Vis. As a pizzeria it's ok, the price/performance ratio is quite good but to be honest the food is only impressive because of its quantity rather than quality. The pasta and the meat were completely drowned in sauce. However, the waitresses are really nice, friendly and attentive. But we probably won't come back to eat again.

You can eat very well there. Just super super. And the service, just great. I can only highly recommend it. You go there once and come back again and again 👍👍👍👍👍

We celebrated communion there. Unfortunately the buffet wasn't as expected; The starters weren't enough for all guests. During the main course we always had to ask the waitress to refill the buffet... The owner kept his word about the agreed prices (suddenly he couldn't remember what was discussed) I can't say anything about the rooms

We come here often and are actually relatively happy, but today was a disaster. The table next door didn't get their food the entire time we were here, our salad was missing from the schnitzel and the service wasn't accommodating at all. We had to wait forever before we were even served, the cutlery and a pizza bread were missing, which I had to get myself. The service was also really rude. It was very loud and warm inside, which is why we insisted on going outside and after asking several times we were able to go out. At least the only good thing was the food. I can't say anything about the rooms. I hope for improvement, then the restaurant would be very pleasant.

The review only refers to the accommodation as we didn't eat there. Check-in was easy and straightforward. We were able to check in without any problem even though we arrived early. The rooms are very large and modernly furnished. Everything was very clean and new. The bathroom was particularly chic. The connection to Mainz is good. Public transport can be reached within 5-10 minutes on foot. E-scooters are also available in the area. The accommodation is still relatively far from the center. You should plan at least 20-30 minutes to get to the city center! Unfortunately, breakfast was not offered, which is a shame considering the limited breakfast offerings in the immediate area. Checkout was also very straightforward. Overall, you can recommend the accommodation with a clear conscience. 👍🏻

The food is okay every time... nothing special... What's really outrageous is that something was forgotten to be delivered, which isn't a problem, that can happen, but it was a salad that finally came an hour later after asking twice . And then I had to pay for it in full. We tipped quite a lot the first time. Everyone can do what they want, but customer service is different... I'm sorry, but that was the last time 👋

First of all, on the positive side: the food was plentiful, tasted good and wasn't expensive. At an average of €20 per person, I think that's completely ok. From my feeling that something wasn't so perfect. Since we were there on Mother's Day, the restaurant was very full and therefore very loud. When ordering, it seemed to me that there was a bit of pressure on us to order quickly. What happened at the other tables was that food was delivered that wasn't ordered. I can't say whether it was the staff or the guests

We stayed at Vis a Vis with friends. Pasta, pizza and schnitzel were ordered. The two types of pasta were subpar for an Italian. What I can say about the pizza is that it looked like a frozen pizza and tasted ok. Not terribly bad but not good either. The schnitzel was delicious and recommended. The food came to the table very quickly even though the restaurant was quite full that day. I assume the pasta was prepared, maybe that's why it didn't taste so good. We would come back for the schnitzel. 5/5 stars for the many parking spaces! Best regards

A very lucrative Italian restaurant with plenty of space for customers. Here you can find salads, soups, pizza, pasta dishes, meat dishes, fish dishes and drinks. Monday is schnitzel day and everything can be delivered if you want it. Four stars**** from me!!! p.s. There is also great party pizza here...!

Food was okay, unfortunately I didn't like the atmosphere that much. It is relatively noisy and has something of a canteen feel about it, which I find rather inappropriate for a nice Italian dinner. 4 out of 5 stars is justified, but I wouldn't come back.

WOW, update from April 30, 2024: Things can get better! We had a super delicious pizza with asparagus and really nice service!! You can see that work has been done here on the taste of the pizza and the service! Now more stars and big praise! It will be again - and we would love to come back!!! Now we tried again. 07/31/23 I thought it would probably work better, just a five-minute drive from the new restaurant. Wrong thought... after more than an hour of asking for the address by phone and after 1 hour and 30 minutes delivery time two schnitzels with a touch of sauce. It's a shame, things could really work out better in terms of delivery. Two stars for delivery, three still for the lukewarm dry schnitzel and three for the nice lady on the phone and the grumpy driver. I'm excited about the new restaurant. June 2022: Feedback on the order Unfortunately, the delivery service was completely overwhelmed with the delivery of four cream schnitzels on schnitzel Monday. Two of the four schnitzels arrived with no sauce on the schnitzel, but with half a liter in the plastic bag. Very bad! After I complained over the phone, I was offered that we could get a sauce. I gratefully accepted this offer. Unfortunately, this sauce never reached us. Very bad delivery service!! The three stars are for the delicious schnitzels without sauce...

I can't judge the hotel, only the restaurant. The surroundings in the commercial area are of course not "nice", but the restaurant is modern and attractively designed and offers plenty of seating inside and outside. The overall assessment is not so easy. The menu offers a wide selection. We personally didn't think the pizza was that good, thick dough, little taste, far from a delicious wood-fired pizza. Other dishes (tagliatelle crab meat for example) were tasty, the portions are large and the prices were very fair. The service was quite slow, empty plates stood there for a long time, and the food also took a long time. Overall, just four stars because of the value for money for the food.

The terrace could not be used because it was too cold. It's a bit cramped inside, but the great service and great food far make up for it👍

Pizzeria in the Bretzenheim commercial area. The restaurant is rated here, not the hotel. Building quite new, was very busy when we visited. Service was a bit overwhelmed, something would sometimes be forgotten. In terms of occupancy, that's OK for me. Food is very good and tasty, pizza "from below" is a bit soft. Prices also within reasonable limits. There is also seating outside and a children's playground.

One star is too many!!! Bad service, totally unpleasant and the food was miserable… Had rump steak and croquettes. The croquettes were totally dry and almost inedible, discount store products taste better when made!!! Steak was over salted... Salad ok. My friend had a beef fillet with herb butter and as a topping, plastic packaging of the herb butter... Really excellent Plus we weren't even asked how the meat should be cooked... The fillet was served almost raw... Not recommendable….

Cheap prices tempt you. As wine connoisseurs, for us the "fine wine" was diluted with water and in the chef's salad the shrimps were peeled, but completely untreated, raw and unseasoned or blanched. Who likes it...

Monday is schnitzel day, good price, good service.

We ordered an Italian sausage plate and got German cooked ham. The plates were dirty, the tables weren't wiped down and the schnitzels weren't edible. We were also served all drinks warm. The service was very very bad. At the end there were drinks on the bill that we hadn't ordered. So you can't eat that bad anywhere.

A really great atmosphere with a very nice reception beforehand. The menu is very varied and the staff in particular were very nice. Overall, the service was just as impeccable, attentive and courteous without being intrusive. Hotel review for "Vis a Vis" Our stay at “Vis a Vis” was simply perfect! From the moment we checked in to the moment we left we were treated to first class service. The rooms are modern and above all clean. The ambience is good, a warm white color could be used for the lamps. Price performance is very good. The service was sometimes a bit slow. Still a friendly service.

I was in Mainz for a week on assembly and the accommodation was perfect. The room is modern, great service. The food downstairs in the pizzeria was excellent. The staff was super friendly and attentive. I can only recommend it and would love to come back!

We ordered on a Saturday evening. First of all: the taste is quite ok. The delivery time was stated over the phone to be 40 minutes, but the order only reached us after 1.5 hours. We ordered 3 pasta dishes and one pizza (large!), but the pizza was not delivered. After a telephone call, the “large” pizza was then delivered, but no delivery fees had to be paid again. As you can see in the picture, the pizza that was delivered is only 26 cm tall, 30 cm was ordered and 30 cm was paid for... So as a tip: if you order here, be sure to check everything (including the size of the pizza!) before paying. We won't be ordering here again.

The Vis-A-Vis in Mainz is a restaurant, which I found specifically and not by chance. I think the menu is large in terms of selection, In terms of taste, everything so far has been extremely splendid. The staff is friendly and also neat, asks if you already have a reservation. Because no matter how great it is there, It was not without reason that it was always very crowded. And because that's the case, it's unfortunately also loud, what you notice when you dare to go there. But the prices don't go beyond the target, which is why it's much better to go in than out again. Because maybe I'm already an insider, I'll definitely go there again.

We were there today on Shrove Tuesday with the Schlemmerblock. When we ordered, however, we were immediately informed that today was a “holiday” and that the gourmet block would not be accepted. Since I didn't feel like arguing that today wasn't a holiday, we accepted it and stayed. The drinks and food arrived quickly. There was nothing to complain about in terms of taste except that my sauerkraut with my liver dumplings was cold. After we had finished eating and the waitress asked us if everything was tasty, I pointed out to her that my sauerkraut was cold but otherwise good. Unfortunately there was no apology but only a bored “I’ll pass it on”. I then heard several times that other guests were asked for a schnapps on the house before paying. In the end, however, the question was not answered and we received nothing other than the invoice. Unfortunately, the tables were very narrow, so there was no cozy atmosphere. I would no longer recommend Vis a Vis to anyone, as they now seem to be paying more attention to their own profits. We will avoid it in the future. A pity.

Room functionally simple and chic, bathroom great. Service and food very good. We met there with 16 people. It was really very good.

We, the US Car Friends Allgäu, stayed there for two nights. Highly recommended, the rooms, bathroom are all clean and well maintained. The staff was friendly, accommodating and the food was excellent. Thanks for everything, we'll be happy to come back.

Guter Mittagstisch, sehr nette Bedienung!

Chefsalat nur Eisbergsalat und TK-Garnelen (kalt). Sessel wässrig und nicht einmal Brot dazu. Der schlechteste Salat, den ich jemals hatte.

Sehr leckere Pizzen, egal mit welchem Belag. Die neue Location ist auch super!

Speisen und Getränke in guter Qualität und zu angemessenen Preisen. Nettes Ambiente und tolle Bedienungen. Reservierung ist aber immer zu empfehlen.

Das Lokal erinnert an eine Großkantine,sehr laut und überfüllt. Das Essen war nicht sehr schmackhaft. Pizza war gut. Wer billig, grosse Portionen Schnitzel essen möchte ist hier richtig, wer die gute italienische Küche sucht ist hier völlig fehl am Platz.

Leckeres Essen in schönem Ambiente. Allerdings ist der Herr im Service von heute Abend ich glaube sein Name war Patrick sehr unhöflich und inkompetent. So kann man auch seine Stammkunden verlieren.

Wir haben 1:40 Stunden aufs Essen gewartet. Und dann hat das Essen nicht mal geschmeckt!

Nett gestaltetes Restaurant. Haben lange aufs Essen gewartet. Die Küche war schlecht organisiert. Auf der Pizza war viel zu viel Käse, und dann nicht nur guter. Schade, der Laden versprach mehr.

Ambiente war sehr angenehm, essen im Partykeller aufgrund von Feiertag sehr voll. Ansonsten sehr gut Service hat noch Luft nach oben aber es wurde sich bemüht. Das Essen war eine Katastrophe.. Steak viel zu durch, Knödel Übersalzen ( wurde sich vom Chef persönlich entschuldigt waren nicht die einzigste) Nudeln nicht zu genießen, Lasagne zum Teil angebrannt. Zudem mussten wir über 1,5 Std auf das Essen warten. Am Ende noch Espresso bestellt. Nach ca 30 min kam dieser dann nach mehrfachen fragen an. Als Entschädigung gab es einen Ouzo aufs Haus. Nicht empfehlenswert an Feiertagen. (Ansonsten ist das Essen dort sehr lecker und vom Preis-Leistung sehr sehr gut.)
