Pizzeria Monaco in München

The service always depends on the owner's mood. He's usually grumpy; only the most dedicated regulars get a smile or a grappa. It's similar with her; if she doesn't like you (for whatever reason), you won't get served. The food is sometimes good, sometimes not so much. Portions are getting smaller and smaller. This place has definitely seen better days!

I loved the vegetarian Pizzas here! They are so delicious 🤤 We also tried the Rigatoni all `arrabbiata pasta and Mozzarella Caprese! The italian restaurant has a lovely ambience and great customer service ☺️

Finally found a hearty n welcoming Italian restaurant. Host was effervescent n always smiling. Pasta was full of home cooked goodness. Proof? Never reached for parmesan for all courses. Seafood was permitted to be e star, simply grilled n shows its freshness. Wife was super happy all the food were not overly salty after more than 10 days in Germany! For me I find Aglio oglio can have bigger flavours but still very tasty. They have a daily special menu right at the front of menu on top of their main stays. Dun miss it!! Thank you very much!! Return visit! Missus love e food so we went back again next day. Tried their mussels and lasagne. Lovely balance of tomatoes sauce n fresh herb to let mussels to take centre stage. I must say NZ green lips mussels are twice the size and equally as tender! Love the lasagna, good balance of creaminess of sauce n cheese to go w the lasagna. Beware of the chilli especially the whole chilli that floats in the chilli jar. Oomph!! U are forewarned!!❤️

Great pizza, almost like in Italy

The great ambiance is particularly pleasant, inviting you to linger. In summer, the beautiful outdoor seating area is a real highlight. All in all, a perfect place for Italian culinary delights in Munich!

We're from Ukraine and visited Pizzeria Monaco today, August 19, 2025. We are sincerely grateful for the excellent service and friendliness. Extremely delicious pizza, pasta, and incredible Prosecco. We wish Pizzeria Monaco much success and all the best. 5 out of 5 stars.

This place is an insult to Italian cuisine. Bad and inferior ingredients/quality. This restaurant, located on the busy Reichenbachstraße, made an inviting impression. Unfortunately, my meal was very meager: linguine with monkfish (fish), capers, tomatoes & olives. Blackened olives! Who will still use those in 2025?! The food was boring, insignificant, didn't even taste of tomato, was practically unseasoned, and I only had about 50 grams of monkfish in my pasta dish and a whopping 4 (!) capers. The portion was very small, and the whole thing cost a whopping €22. We then had to go to the Viktualienmarkt to get our fill. A glass of simple Italian white wine (0.2 l) for €8 isn't bad either. The other dish (gnocchi with porcini mushrooms) tasted good, but the gnocchi was a convenience product. Embarrassing for a 'real' Italian, and unfortunately not recommended. I went to pick up a Mushroom pizza and I was impressed with its quality. My daughter wanted it 2 days in a row.

Top location, tasty pizza and drinks. The cozy, rustic atmosphere feels just like in Italy. I would come back again to try their pasta.

We were there with a family of three. Our requests were met with great care ❤️. Especially the requests of those who eat very little and therefore like to share.

We spontaneously visited on Pride Day evening and even managed to get a table outside despite the crowds – that was a stroke of luck! The server was very friendly and tried to remain attentive despite the packed place. The food was consistently delicious. Worth mentioning: Everything arrived quickly and freshly. One small note: The pizza could have stayed in the oven a minute longer – but it tasted great. All in all, a very nice evening with good food, friendly service, and a great atmosphere amidst the hustle and bustle. We'd love to come back!

The carpaccio was frozen. It was cold and wet. Cheap Parmesan and bad olive oil. The lasagna had hardly any ground beef and was served with a tomato and cream sauce. The linguini with beef tips consisted of whole-wheat pasta and tough pieces of beef, along with celery and carrots in a light tomato and red wine sauce. There was no Parmesan cheese on the side either. Not recommended, unfortunately.

Excellent! We arrived very spontaneously and got a seat. The food was delicious. The prices are great. The staff are very friendly and accommodating.

I ordered risotto with asparagus and scampi for €15 and a side salad for €4.50. The risotto had a decent consistency, but had no flavor at all—almost as if no salt had been added. The friendly waitress brought me salt. The risotto contained about six thin, small pieces of asparagus and three small scampi. The pieces of bay leaves and the thick stalks of parsley in the risotto didn't taste good. The salad was unloving, and the tomatoes used should have been in the organic waste bin long ago. What a shame.

Authentic Italian cuisine. Simple dishes that taste great. The appetizer plate was fantastic; the spaghetti with garlic and olive oil was juicy and perfectly cooked, as was the asparagus risotto. It was nice to experience once again that Munich can also produce really good food, along with friendly and polite service. The only thing missing was a view of the sea 😃.

Great pizza and pasta, attentive service

Unfriendly waitress, after the very friendly request to wipe the table, an unfriendly comment came that we had just sat down at the table, which was not true, she only half-heartedly wiped the very dirty table. The food was a disgrace. Pizza barely topped, cheap olives etc. and not through! Pasta scampi with unbelievably 3(!) scampis and 2 slices of zucchini cut in half for 22€. We should have taken a photo! Food is still heavy in our stomachs. At least an older waiter was friendly and the ambience outside was nice. But sorry, there was no Italian here, so never again!

The staff and the waiters were polite and elegant. It was nice to go with my girlfriend there and definitely we'd go back, but I wouldn't recommend this place for the vegans, because there are not so many options. We were in the Easter lent, so we ate vegan, and we had napolitana Spaghetti with Montepulciano Wine. Even if our choices were kind of restricted, we had a great time there anyway. I hope my comment was helpful 😉

Really bad service! Pizzas average, too expensive. My wine glass was still full of lipstick residue and I had to return it four times. No apology - just annoyed looks from the waiter/owner. He also tipped himself because he charged us way too much, which we unfortunately only discovered afterwards. He probably doesn't mind providing poor service because the area is always super busy and there will always be people coming. Very disappointed and you don't feel welcome!

Starter plate in terms of price/performance ratio is an absolute disgrace! €27 for 2 slices of zucchini and a touch of mortadella. Scampi noodles where you still have to look for scampi. Maybe the fisherman wasn't back on time. Risotto was very successful, the rest was mediocre, not a recommendation. Service was there too, but good is different

Delicious pizza and very friendly host!

There were two of us, and when we wanted to pay, the waiter/manager said €49 without even giving us a bill. We were trusting and paid – also because we were about to go to the opera. Only later did I realize how expensive it was, so I googled the current menu. We had: - Spaghetti aglio e olio for €10 - Pizza Capricciosa for €13 - 2 glasses of Primitivo (0.2 l), €7 each – totaling €14 - 1 carafe of 0.5 l table water for €3... totaling €40 The service was nice, the food was reasonably okay, and the Primitivo was actually quite good. But still: it doesn't help when you get ripped off like that when it comes to the bill. I'm somewhat stunned by this scam – I've never experienced anything like this before. (And of course, we tipped too!) Our tip for future guests: ask for the exact bill when paying! (But we won't be going there anymore.)

Unfortunately we were very disappointed with the food. The pizza wasn't particularly good, had little taste and for €15 it was relatively small. In addition, it was not possible to pay individually by card. We had the option of paying in cash or as a table together with a card, which I honestly can't understand in 2025.

The fact that a restaurant places a woman in front of the toilet and gives guests the unpleasant feeling of having to pay every time is simply absurd. I can understand that you need this lady and also that she is paid accordingly, but that should probably be taken over by the restaurant and not passed on to the guests. The food was good, but the service could be better and, above all, friendlier. Because when we wanted to pay, the bill wasn't correct at all, and it wasn't possible to divide the bill by 3 if we paid by card; that would only be possible if we paid in cash. Although it said everywhere that you could pay by card…

Some of the food was very tasty, but some dishes didn't taste like anything. The ambience was very nice and it wasn't crowded at all at lunchtime. We said on the spot that the ravioli were very mild and got a very tasty teramisu for free. So overall it was good.

We tried 4 different pastas and one pizza - they were all outstanding. Fresh ingredients, delicious flavors, pasta cooked to a perfect al dente. A must try when in Munich!

Wonderful meal here. Was a little anxious as it was cheaper than some of the other options round but it was great, some of the best pizza and pasta I've had at any price, service was quick. Would be good if allergens were on the menu, but staff very helpful in that regard.

Calling this food Italian is an insult to every single Italian! The pizza tastes worse than a ready-made pizza, the dough is soggy, the ingredients are the cheapest you can find in the metro. There was exactly 1 (in words: a) fingernail-sized piece of artichoke on the Capricciosa pizza. Then instead of €14 for the pizza you take €20 but at least it tastes great!! The taste of the pasta was very similar to still tap water (the bottle for €7 came to the table open and was a bit too similar to unfiltered Munich tap water). The slow service completed the experience! Thank you and NEVER AGAIN

italians stay away from this restaurant. pizza is awful, they just remove it from the refrigerator and put in the oven. it could be okay, but not paying 11€ per pizza. if it was be possible to put zero stars i would have done it.

Lousy tourist trap! Worst pizza in my life, straight from the freezer, salami from the food technician. Waiter absolutely inattentive. I felt ripped off the whole time! To round things off: “Cash only, the WiFi is so weak today…” PS: of course the card reader worked perfectly! Never again!

Very nice restaurant and staff. During the Gärtner Platz Open Air I was employed as security guards on this street. The gentleman from the restaurant took care of me all the time, brought me drinks, brought me food, even my own employer didn't care that much about me. A real person with a heart. Authentic & Delicious! The perfect place to eat Italian food or recharge your energy reserves with an espresso on the sidewalk terrace. If you're lucky, you'll even be served by the boss himself. The service is outstanding! I can recommend the pasta. A clear recommendation and definitely worth a second visit.
