Pizzeria Avanti in Weiden i.d.OPf.

About two years ago, the restaurant was good. The food was decent, the prices were reasonable, and while the service was always stressed, it was still friendly. After La Vita/La Bella Vita had been in the news in recent years for drug-related incidents involving champagne, two bankruptcies, and various court cases (reportedly social security fraud and tax evasion), we were invited there for a celebration. After waiting there, I can completely understand the negative reviews here. What's the point of white chair covers and tablecloths if they're dirty and full of holes, and the owner apparently doesn't care about the comfort of the guests? There was no toilet paper (in the women's restroom), and even after repeatedly pointing it out, it wasn't replenished during our entire visit. Furthermore, one toilet seat was broken, and there were no towels. It's a clear indication of how little the owner values ​​their guests when hygiene isn't a priority. The service was absolutely unfriendly; they preferred to stand smoking with colleagues at the entrance instead of attending to guests. After repeatedly making our presence known, our order was finally taken by an annoyed and cigarette-reeking waitress. There was hair in the food and salad, glasses with chipped rims and lipstick stains, the pizza was burnt, and the lasagna was swimming in grease. This was dismissed with an "Okay" and a pat on the back when we complained. The food was then taken to the kitchen, but what was served again very quickly looked suspiciously like exactly the same thing we had complained about. Given the poor value for money and the extremely unfriendly service, we didn't leave a tip. The waitress responded with a "Typical German" remark, then slammed the bill down on the table, disappeared towards the counter, and uttered a torrent of Italian. Fortunately, Weiden has many good Italian restaurants—many of them within easy walking distance—that value their customers and offer good value for money and service. Therefore, you can safely avoid this one.

The pizzas were delicious and hot, the delivery guy was super nice, and the delivery time was kept to, everything was great. Finally, there was some decent garlic on them...I highly recommend it. 👍

I was simply appalled by the service at this restaurant. For what's supposedly an upscale establishment, we weren't greeted, stood around by the door for up to 10 minutes, and the restaurant was practically empty, with only three tables occupied. We ended up finding a table ourselves. Twenty minutes later, a waitress came by to ask if we had a reservation. Ugh. The food was okay, nothing special for the price, but the portions were large. You can find better Italian restaurants in Weiden, not only in terms of service but also ambiance. There was no background music, so you couldn't hear all the conversations from the sparsely occupied tables. Uncomfortable, poor service, we won't be back.

Unfortunately we waited 1 1/2 hours for the main course: one woman alone in service is far too little for a fully occupied restaurant. The starter was okay. The pasta as the main course was a bit tasteless, the meat was a bit tough. For the high price level it's just not nice to wait so long for a mediocre meal, a real shame.
