I ate a Funghi pizza with Gorgonzola cheese sauce. It was very delicious. A good experience. A double espresso for dessert. 😉

Best pizza in Mainz!! We love eating there!

I don't know if that was a mistake, but the dough on my pizza was mostly raw. Unfortunately I only noticed it on the way otherwise I would have returned the food.

Pizza Pepé Express in Mainz is no longer what it once was. Last Saturday May 11, 204 we ordered 2 pizzas to take away, well. Anyone who likes "pizza dough" á la frozen products from the supermarket is now in good hands there, of course at corresponding prices, which are no longer justified in any way -> for this quality.

Great food, cheap and nice staff

The best pizza in the city center is at Pepé! We regularly order pizza here to pick up and have to take the longer walk compared to other pizzerias. The staff is always friendly and the quality of the pizza is great. The preparation time is between 10 and 20 minutes, depending on the volume. You can also sit on site - in summer there are additional tables outside. However, space is a bit tight and depending on the time of day you have to be lucky to get a table.

We really enjoy coming here and really appreciate the good value for money. The service is very nice and the on-site snack bar is cozy. Pizza Pepé is simply an institution in Mainz and an indispensable part of the old town!

There is a really delicious gluten-free pizza here. Pasta is also gluten-free, but I haven't tested it yet. Gluten-free tiramisu is also ok

I've known Pizza Pepe for years and am always satisfied there. The pizza, pasta dishes and salads are very tasty. I don't think it's a bad thing that you can order at the counter yourself and pay straight away given the good price-performance ratio there. There is some seating inside and in summer there is also outside seating. The staff was always friendly too. Since I'm from Koblenz but already know the pizzeria from before, I always like to come here when I'm in Mainz😊👍

Pizza Pepe feels like it has “always been” on Augustinerstrasse in Mainz. That alone is an indication of the good quality - when there are always closures and new restaurants (which don't last long) all around. The simple, minimalist, rustic ambience goes very well with the pizza(s): no frills, but good and cheap.

Unfortunately there's nothing express here... 30 minutes for a mediocre pizza.

The food was really delicious and the value for money was right. Even the food was brought to our table. The ambience also fits, as you shouldn't consider it a restaurant, but rather an express service.

Pepé Express is characterized by good, solid food. Even though I personally am always overwhelmed by the large selection of pizza and pasta variations and pizzas with pineapple or spaghetti on top simply have no place on a menu, they are simply delicious and, above all, very inexpensive. The mini pizzas are a real eye-catcher for when you're hungry 😊 The ambience is old-fashioned with a lot of wood paneling and has more of a snack bar feel. But it all fits together since there is no table service here. Unhesitant recommendation for quick hunger that doesn't cost much!

A pizzeria respecting it's customers by not crazily increasing their prices. The prices are more than fair, and I always recommend this place to people visiting Mainz. It might not be the most authentic, the pizzas are good but that's obviously not Napoli in quality, standard Germany Pizza, but at least with those prices, the ratio quality price becomes the best in town ! I live just over a Pizzeria but I rather walk 30min to Pizza Pepe.

Have been there for a long time, pizza is good but the toppings are less. There was very little on my spaghetti pizza compared to before, there wasn't much seating, and the round tables were missing a stool. This way the other person could also enjoy their pizza and not have to do it standing up.

Good food, fair prices and friendly staff. Ambience could be better, but it's enough for a quick meal.

Good value for money! But you shouldn't expect too much. I've also eaten better pizzas.

Pizza, pasta, salad... all very tasty and recommended... for almost 40 years (since I was in school). It is usually very full and you often share a table with other guests. There is standing and seating; In summer there are also some places outside The staff is always very friendly. You order and pick up the food at the counter. I always enjoy eating there, for example. E.g. before an evening in the Frankfurter Hof

Dirty shop, you want a salami pizza, you get a salami ham with mushrooms on it. Not recommended 😤

Ich verstehe diesen Hype absolut nicht. In jeder Bewertung steht etwas von "günstig". Wäre mir neu, dass die Geschmacksnerven am Geldbeutel hängen und nicht auf der Zunge. Zum Glück habe ich nur ein Stück probiert: Fettig, Schwimmender Belag, niemals würde ich da bestellen. Das Ambiente? Welches Ambiente bei einem Take-Away? Da gibt es andere Take-Aways mit ähnlichen Preisen, die deutlich bessere Qualität liefern... Scheinbar gut in den Abendstunden besucht, wenn die Kundschaft nicht mehr wirklich nüchtern genug ist, um zu beurteilen, was für einen Fraß sie da vor sich hat.

Hatte Rigatoni Mama mia, war seit langem das erstemal wieder da. Das war immer mein favorisiertes Essen. Leider wird es das nicht bleiben, die Tomatensoße war geschmacklos und dünn wie Wasser, lediglich den Knoblauch konnte ich herausschmecken. Hab es dem Mitarbeiter hinter der Theke gesagt der meine moderate Reklamation regungslos entgegen nahm. Werde wohl nicht mehr hingehen...Schade

Encountered this lovely pizza and pasta place while walking around the old town of Mainz on a chilly day in January. This is a small and warm self serviced place for a quick bite with tables and stands you can sit down or stand to eat. They have a big variety of pizzas and pastas. The pizzas may not be the most authentic as they have Pizza Hawaii with pineapple topping but are great as they are over fresh. What I also like is the pizzas come with 2 sizes, i.e. mini and grande. The mini one is smallish which is good if you are not hungry or you can order more than 1 if you want to sample different toppings or for sharing. After all, the price is very reasonable as well.

Wir waren heute in Mainz unterwegs und sind zufällig auf die Pizzaria gestoßen. Es war sehr gut besucht und wir haben einen der wenigen Plätze bekommen. Die Besitzer sind sehr freundlich und höflich. Die Pizza war sehr lecker und man musste nicht sehr lange warten. Die Preise sind natürlich unschlagbar.

Die Älteste(?) Pizzeria in Mainz, Eine echt nette Idee. Bestellt und Abgeholt wird an der Theke. Nett. Die Pizzen waren lecker. Und für den kleinen Snack gibt’s von jeder Pizza auch die Mini Version. Geschmacklich gut und definitiv die bessere Variante zu PizzaHut und co. Gerne wieder!

Ich habe mit einer Begleitung am 21. März 2021 zwei Pizzen telefonisch zum Mitnehmen bestellt. Ich hatte die Pizza Teufel. Die Pizza war ausgesprochen gut - schön knusprig, nicht fettig, ordentlich scharf. Das Foto zeigt diese Pizza, die ich in dieser Form jederzeit weiterempfehlen würde. Am 12. Januar 2022 war ich mit der gleichen Begleitung erneut da, dieses Mal im Lokal. Ich habe die gleiche Pizza bestellt und war sehr enttäuscht. Die Pizza war fettig, hatte wenig Belag und wenig Geschmack. Glücklicherweise war Tabasco am Tisch, um etwas Geschmack reinzubringen. Meine Begleitung hatte den gleichen Eindruck. Schade, dass die Qualität so schwankt. Ich gebe nur 3 von 5 Sternen.

Since the 1980s, this place has proven to be a great place to enjoy really good pizzas and noodle dishes. During the warm months, there is barely sitting room inside or outside, but all dishes can be ordered to go. Very friendly staff. Dogs can accompany you outside at your table. You can sit alone or enjoy the company of a stranger. Toilets are clean and the location (in the old city passage of Mainz) is ideal. Just 10 minutes walk to downtown, the movies, the Rhein. Housed between a Kebab imbiss and several excellent Italian restaurants and ice cream parlors....It's almost the perfect location.

Tolle Pizza. Guter Teig und guter Geschmack. Haptisch alles gut. Geschmack könnte etwas stärker sein. Vielleicht mehr Oregano etc

Kein Bock auf Franchise, aber Lust auf einen richtig urigen Pizzaladen wie früher, mit Stehhockern. So ist es hier, selbst ich als jemand der gerne mit etwas mehr Ruhe ist, fand das Mittagessen hier einfach sehr gut. Super knusprige Pizza ohne trocken zu werden.

Mein Gott, ich war in dem rummeligen Pizza-Laden schon Anfang der 90ger Stehtischgast. Den gibt es immer noch und er hat seine Qualität und vor allem sein Preisniveau gehalten! Das Ambiente ist mittlerweile ziemlich häßlich, erfüllt aber noch seinen Zweck. Die Mannschaft hingegen ist jung und agil. Respekt!

Eine absolute Institution in Mainz seit mehr als 30 Jahren, absolut empfehlenswert.

Solide italienische Küche. Gerichte waren alle sehr lecker. Bestellung nicht am Tisch, sondern direkt am Counter. Essen wird dann jedoch am Tisch serviert.

Wir sind Mainzer meine Frau und ich und Pepe gehört dazu. Wir gehen da sehr gerne hin,da schmeckt es wie bei Mama und die Atmosphäre ist Italien. Auch ein großes Lob an alle die in der Küche und Hintergrund arbeiten. Dankeschön.

Die Pizzen sind wie immer Weltklasse, nur die Spagetthi Bolognese bedürfen dringend der Verbesserung. Ambiente ist schon so wie immer, also einfach und gut. Bedienung freundlich und fix. Preislich okay. Karte ein bisschen zu reichhaltig, aber anscheinend der Kundschaft angepasst. Was aber einen hohen Wareneinsatz nötig macht. Toiletten sind sehr sauber

Die Pizza war leider mal wieder sehr salzig und die Tomatensoße war mir persönlich zu scharf für eine normale Käsepizza. Auch die Wartezeit von 30 Minuten hätte ich mir schneller gewünscht, aber damit muss man am Abend rechnen. Ich denke zukünftig werde ich lieber woanders Pizza essen gehen.

Wir sind zu Besuch in Mainz gewesen und wollten am späteren Abend noch eine Kleinigkeit essen. Man sollte sich vom doch simplen Ambiente nicht täuschen lassen. Sehr bequem, und die Pizzen... seit langem die besten die wir gegessen haben und das zu wirklich sehr fairen Preisen. Wenn wir wieder in Mainz sind, liebend gerne wieder!

Essen war okay, nicht die beste Pizza meines Lebens aber solide. Wir mussten für to Go ca. 30 min warten was nicht tragisch ist aber auch nicht schnell. Definitiv aber auch preislich in Ordnung

Sirven pizzas y tiramisú sin gluten excelentes. Mi esposa, que es celíaca, tomó la "Sofía Loren" y un tiramisú. El personal es muy amable y una de las personas que nos atendió hablaba español. Aparentemente se sirve comida todo el tiempo que está abierto, es decir, se puede comer a cualquier hora durante el día. Sitio muy recomendable. Relación calidad/precio muy buena.
