Best place if you are looking for, what i am looking for - just good food for a good price they know their strengths - authentic chinese kitchen, with a focus on szechuan cuisine - and play to it perfectly my favs: Mapo Tofu (inspired me to try my own), Eggplant, Potatoe Stripes, Cumin Lamb (made me cry of joy)

A truly wonderful experience with an exceptional menu. Many authentic dishes beyond sweet and sour duck. I had pig's feet, which were deliciously prepared. The menu features pretty much everything made from pork, which is first-class in terms of sustainability. I'd love to come back and try the other dishes.

We ordered fried rice and fried noodles with soy sauce to go. We had to search for the vegetables in this dish, but if you want to consume a lot of carbohydrates quickly, this is the place to go.

Poor service, and the kitchen and dishes don't look very hygienic. The ambiance is catastrophic; there's no window, but the kitchen is in the room, and the air quality is extremely poor.

We (two of us) ate here again after a long break. We had one meat and one fish dish, both very tasty. Unfortunately, I found a piece of a white plastic bag, about 2x3 cm in size, in my rice (cooked rice, small bowl). When I asked about it, the lady at the cashier didn't react in a very customer-friendly manner. I found that quite disappointing. Conclusion: Very good price and taste, questionable quality.

Coolest restaurant, biggest portions for little money, one of my favorite spots for lunch and dinner, I can only recommend it, food is ready really quickly.

Since the Hong Kong restaurant has unfortunately closed, I'm happy to be able to enjoy some original, filthy dishes here. Having never been to China, I can't judge whether it's authentic cuisine, but the customers are predominantly Asian. You have to request a fork separately. Glasses are only available upon request. Unfortunately, they don't serve wine. But I (66 m) think the food and the atmosphere are excellent.

The food was truly to my liking—delicious, I thoroughly enjoyed it. Nevertheless, I won't be coming back. I ordered two dishes, but had to wait a full 60 minutes for the first one to be served. On top of that, someone who ordered after me got both their starter and main course before me. The server spoke a little German, but was rude, wore shorts, and threw the dishes rather roughly into the sink while clearing away. In short: the food is worth it, but the service was abysmal.

I had some pretty good Chinese food in Germany. The stir-fried baby cabbage with garlic was delicious, but the king oyster mushrooms were a little too oily.

The food is excellent and authentic. Whenever I enter the restaurant, it always reminds me of my semester abroad in Shanghai.

I have very low standards for service. I used to eat dim sum in Hong Kong frequently, and my expectations for Chinese restaurant service were just that the food was served, just like in a teahouse. I didn't expect any kind of service at all. Pin Kitchen couldn't deliver that either. 😂 They were aggressive with Chinese speakers and submissive with German-speaking white people. Of course, seeing some German comments in the comments section sharing similar experiences finally made me feel a little better. 😃 Although I don't live in Freiburg, I used to make a point of coming here to eat. I'll never come back after being yelled at and lectured by your waiter again, lest I offend the distinguished waiter and have her lecture me. A miscommunication in an extremely noisy environment that resulted in the wrong dish is 100% the customer's fault. ❤️👍 And don't reply by saying there was no such incident and I'm deliberately trying to discredit them. I suddenly remembered the time your waiter yelled at me two years ago, so I'm leaving a review. 👋

Food taste is great, portion size and prize are good. Best way to do is order first and then take a seat.

As one of the few Chinese restaurants in the area, the poor service towards Chinese compatriots is truly disappointing. I'm a regular customer, always driving an hour or two to eat here. Today, the German waiter took our order. It's unavoidable, and even when the food arrived, I pointed it out, and my compatriot actually told me it was better and more flavorful. "I'm here to eat, not to listen to your lecture." Is your restaurant omakase? I went to the front desk, and the waiter recommended takeout, saying if I didn't want it, they could throw it away and order a new portion. Not a single apology, not a single excuse. It was truly speechless.

Fuyez! Run away! Run away! Imagine this: You order "06" and get "6." Logical, right? Apparently, the kitchen knows better than anyone what you like, so please eat what's served! In response to my complaint, there was no apology, just this arrogant recommendation. And the little bonus: a drinks bill for something we neither ordered nor saw. The icing on the cake? A dirty restaurant with flies as regulars. Anyone who goes here should train their sense of humor and their stomach beforehand.

Cheap food, very popular with Asians. I was bothered by the table manners, where you basically spit parts of the food, like the cooking ingredients, bowls, etc., onto the table, since there are no plates for waste. Not really my style. But very authentic, I think. The food is served, but you have to get drinks from the fridge. The dining room is small, with plastic chairs. No windows. You feel a bit caged in. On the way to our seats, we passed grease-stained cupboards. It wasn't very aesthetic either.

Great food, had the squid with chili

Unfortunately, we were very disappointed. The meal consisted almost entirely of rice – there was virtually no fresh vegetables. The taste of the dish was also completely unconvincing. I definitely could have done better at home. What a shame!

I had noodles with fried shrimp. It was busy, and the food arrived two minutes after ordering. Unfortunately, the shrimp weren't warm and weren't cooked thoroughly (not without its problems with shrimp). They weren't fried, but rather boiled. The noodles with spicy sauce were good. But the meal was definitely not worth €11; it was more like train station fare. A shame.

The food is actually really good, and I love coming back, but the waitress is never friendly. I don't know why, but well, when she talks to the Chinese woman, she's always friendly, but she's never friendly to the other guests. What a shame!

The food is delicious. The portions are large. The price is cheap. You must try it.

The food was good overall; some dishes were a bit salty, but I understand that the sauce used is naturally salty. The waitress was very friendly and served us quickly. Although I don't speak German and she didn't speak English, we were able to communicate in Chinese, which was easier for both of us. One small suggestion: Please add egg fried rice to the menu—it was missing. And please refrain from using garlic in sweet meat dishes, as it doesn't complement the flavor well.

Twice I had to wait 50 minutes for my order to finally arrive. The food was still delicious, but it's a shame it took so long!

Very good and (as far as I can tell) authentic Chinese food. In addition to classics like the Fried Rice Box, the menu also features some unusual dishes that you don't see often. The food came quickly and was hot, greasy, and delicious. Unfortunately, the ambiance was quite dreary, with a windowless dining room, but it was fine for a snack.

The food tasted okay, but nothing special. The price was reasonable, though. Service was a bit rushed. The atmosphere wasn't inviting. I would still eat here again.

The food is great, a fantastic menu with lots of choice and authentic Chinese dishes.

The food is pretty good and not expensive.

I ate there four times and the first three times were completely satisfactory until the last time (05/05/2025) completely changed my mind. Firstly, the facilities are pretty average and when it's full it can be very noisy. But on my last visit my friend ate a piece of a plastic bag in his pot. He said this is a common phenomenon in China called pre-made meals. I've heard the term before and assumed it meant something you prepare in advance to use later in cooking, like we do. I learned from my friend that I had completely misunderstood this and that the term means that the entire dish is prepared and then heated a little when the guests order. This is completely unacceptable to me. Also, adding rice used to be free, and I really like adding the sauce to the rice. This time they charged me 2 euros per bowl. It's not expensive, but no one ever asked me about it. So, I won't go to this restaurant again.

The food was super delicious! The restaurant is inconspicuous. When we visited it, it felt like we were in Asia :) I liked that. It had charm. Price/performance is definitely right. I can fill up twice with this meal.

Most authentic Chinese food in Freiburg with the best price!

PIN kitchen is an absolute insider tip. It doesn't look like much from the outside and the interior is more “bistro” than “restaurant”. But you forget all that as soon as you take the first bite of this fabulous food. There is a “Germanized menu” for all those not so brave and an (as far as I can tell) authentic menu “traditional Chinese dishes”. There is an incredibly large selection of dishes here. I've been to PIN Kitchen a thousand times and tried almost all of the dishes. I haven't eaten anything that wasn't good yet. My personal favorites are for the brave ones: Beef stomach with vegetables and pork tongue salad (cold) and for those who prefer something less freaky (or rather vegetarian): Spicy Cabbage 🥬 and Mapo Tofu. It's best to go as a large group and share several dishes. The price at the end will pleasantly surprise you (usually between 15 and 20 euros INCLUDING drinks). Have fun!

Very tasty filling food. The only thing you need to know is that it can be loud. The food comes very quickly and is very well fried. Both great to go and in the restaurant.

It's just right for one person to eat one dish. It's like a canteen. If you order too much, the taste will be a bit repetitive, but it is delicious. The boss lady is very nice and serves the food quickly. I don't know why other people complain about service, I'm here to eat! Not here to be served.

This restaurant seems very inconspicuous and we didn't immediately recognize it as a real restaurant. However, there is a hallway leading to back rooms where there are several seats. The conditions are fast and the food is very tasty. The ambience is not typically Asian, as some may know it. It is kept very simple, but also quite beautiful. I can recommend it for a quick and tasty meal.

I spent a very nice evening there with a good friend and we ate very well and had a great time without paying attention to the time. The service was very nice and the food was excellent. I will definitely go there again

Original Chinese cuisine, which is definitely recommended and the best in Freiburg. Many original recipes on the menu: Pork belly fried sweet and sour, you have to try number 84.

Food was good both times, portion size was also appropriate. Average price. However, even for a small to-go box you had to wait over 20 minutes each time. There may not be much you can do about it, especially at peak times, but then you should at least say so when ordering. In that case, I would have preferred to eat somewhere else both times if I had known that in advance.

I ate at PIN Kitchen today, I took number 44 and my partner took number 48. My food arrived a bit cold and as you do, you wait until your partner gets his dish too. The number 48 still didn't arrive after 20 minutes and we pointed it out to the waitress. My food was cold, I didn't eat it anymore, my partner finished his food. When paying, my partner pointed out to the waitress again that my food was cold and we had completely lost our appetite. The waitress showed no consideration and didn't even change the amount.!! Not recommended!!

The food came quickly and was very good. Some unusual dishes are also on the menu. Pork tripe, liver, tongue... Anyone who knows these specialties from Baden cuisine and also likes spicy food should not miss these specialties.

I visited this place more than 15 times in the last two months. I love Asian cuisine, but it’s pretty difficult to find a good place. This one is 10 out of 10 compatible with my tastes. The interior is pretty basic, and there’s no internet here (I didn’t actually ask, but you can go to the neighboring DIY Ramen and scan their Wi-Fi code, which works perfectly in PIN’s). But! You’ll find a lot of people from Asian countries here, and that’s the best recommendation. Be aware of the huge portions — after lunch, I’m not hungry until breakfast. By the way, you can take whatever you didn’t finish with you. Don't order two dishes for one person! And it's wise to order only one dish for two persons if they are not very hungry. I like 98% of the dishes here (except a couple of dishes with garlic which I don't eat). It’s very difficult to pick a favorite. I love the “Mapo Tofu,” “Shrimps on Salt” (they’re not as salty as the name suggests), all kinds of beef, the fried lotus roots and a lot others. So delicious! I’m going again tomorrow — writing this has made me hungry.

This is quite an authentic restaurant, you can even find some Sichuan food. For a Chinese in Germany it is among the best I have tried. Hard to evaluate after having the real thing in China. But this place is totally recommendable and the prices are also quite affordable.

I was here because of the reviews and I have to say, I have rarely eaten so well. From the outside it doesn't look like a restaurant, but they show you the restaurant in the back. The people are polite, quick and friendly. The ambience is simple and clean but appropriate. Nevertheless, I would go back in a heartbeat. The vegetables were crisp and fresh and the duck was to die for. Keep it up

I've been to this restaurant on Humboldtstrasse many times and every time I'm impressed. The vegetarian dishes in particular are an absolute highlight. The variety of flavors, the freshness of the ingredients and the loving preparation make every dish a culinary experience. What really makes the restaurant special is the chef himself. If you ask him, he always conjures up a surprise - a dish that isn't on the menu but that really enchants the taste buds. These surprise dishes are always sophisticated and showcase the chef's craftsmanship and creativity. The atmosphere is old school, the service is appropriate. If you are looking for authentic Chinese lunch in Freiburg, you should definitely visit this restaurant. Vegetarians and food lovers in particular will get their money's worth here! Absolutely recommended – I give it a grade 1, very good!

We have visited the restaurant several times. The food was always very tasty but the atmosphere was rather unpleasant. It's really dirty and oily both on the table and on the floor. The kitchen looks disastrous and the toilet is of course unhygienic. It urgently needs improvement!!! Hopefully at some point the owner of the restaurant will be able to read all the cleanliness reviews here and finally take them seriously!

Delicious and authentic northern Chinese food. Ordered two large dishes, cola and free white rice, only cost 31euro all together! I can never found something like this in the Netherlands.

The restaurant has extremely poor hygiene and terrible service. I found a piece of steel wool in my food and immediately spit it out. Despite this shocking incident, the restaurant didn’t even offer an apology. If you want to avoid getting sick, stay away from this place.

I really advise everyone not to eat at this Chinese restaurant in Freiburg, Germany! I went there with friends last time and everyone reported that the taste was really not that good and the ingredients were not fresh. This time I returned to Freiburg very late from Switzerland, and there were not many open restaurants, so I wanted to eat something on the spot, and within two bites I ate a piece of wire from the steel wool used for cleaning pots. I called an older waitress over to see me. She didn't apologize at all and asked me if I wanted to change dishes. She had a very bad attitude. She had a very bad attitude when I started ordering. But later on, when this happened, it was like nothing happened. He directly told the kitchen that he didn’t want this dish, and didn’t ask the customers if they had any comments. It felt like they were used to their poor hygiene. This is a restaurant I will never go to again in my life. I can’t imagine how terrible it would be to eat a steel ball and lacerate your intestines.

Great idea. You help yourself to a selection of meat, seafood, vegetables, pasta, mushrooms and much more, choose your broth and then pick up the finished dish as soon as the buzzer buzzes.

Very good, well filled bowl. I recommend and despite my celiac disease they were able to guide me properly and it was very good I even had to learn to eat with chopsticks very good experience.

Had eggplant with pork belly and hot bean paste, two chillies. The aubergines didn't taste good at all, the meat was old. Despite two chilies, it wasn't spicy either. Apparently a restaurant for Chinese people who long for mom's food, no matter what it tastes like. Because food is, above all, culture.

I found the food tasty for the price. Unfortunately the tables are in shared rooms at the back without windows. The poor fish in very unsightly and small, desolate aquariums. I won't go there the second time.

Very good, authentic Chinese food, which is also confirmed by the many Chinese guests. Fresh vegetables and a variety of flavors. Medium portion. More of a fast food restaurant than a restaurant, no facilities. Mostly friendly service. Toilets OK and fully equipped. Reasonable prices (辣子鸡丁：EUR 13.00). The WiFi hasn't worked for months, there's no soap in one sink, and the water doesn't drain well in the other. I'm surprised that problems like this aren't just fixed quickly.

Wrong food given. Or the food that was made incorrectly for someone else was foisted on me. I was told it was what I ordered, then when I got home it was the wrong one. After discussion I get the right thing. A pity.

We visited this restaurant often because the food was always quite good. However, the ambience leaves a lot to be desired and the tables and floor are often sticky, raising questions about hygiene, although we haven't had any health problems so far. An older lady has been working there for about a year (maybe the boss, because she acts like the boss). She was always unfriendly, but the delicious food always attracted us. Today, however, it was the limit: she shouted at us just because we asked if a certain dish was still available. This question was important to us because we had already found out after a 15-minute wait that the dish was no longer available. Admittedly, the restaurant was busy, but she should have managed her temper better. Another day we were even shown the door because they were “coming to lunch break.” Even though we know that the restaurant closes at 3 p.m., we were there around 2:10 p.m. - enough time to eat. After much patience and many unpleasant experiences, we have now decided to avoid Pin until the service improves significantly.

This is the best restaurant with great value for money and even the best taste! I wish they opened a branch in Berlin too... Try stir-fried tripe for 15 euros.

Nice restaurant where you can definitely eat. Service is okay and the prices are fair. The portions are not too small and the taste is okay but unfortunately far too oily. They are basically all dipped in oil. If that doesn't matter to you, you can eat there without hesitation.

For eggplant love, just soak the eggplant in oil and the beans in oil. The waiter was impatient and the boss was arrogant. I originally came here for the handmade noodles, but they were gone. Will not be returning.

Food so good it kept me from killing myself

Overall four stars. Things that need improvement: The smell of oil smoke in the house is too strong. If I go to the city to report it, I can be fined in minutes. Not only was there no Wi-Fi, but there was no signal for mobile phones either, so I was completely isolated inside the restaurant. The decoration inside is like a prison style, with bare yellow walls, scary!

Absolutely the best Chinese traditional & internationally popular Cousine

The food is OK, but I think it's just because there are so few Chinese restaurant in Freiburg so that people think it's OK. The portion size just doesn't match the price! But the most important thing is the attitude of their Chinese server(waitresses, not the young one), she always comes off as mean and rude, which will be the most important reason why I will never go to this restaurant again!

I have a bad attitude towards Chinese people. I’m not the only one who thinks so. I asked for wifi but didn’t ask for it. My face smelled weird when I ordered food. I’m used to having too little Chinese food in Freiburg.
