Phong's Restaurant in Paderborn

As an Asian connoisseur, I was really excited about the Thai food, we all thought it was delicious! And it was on the table very quickly, which really surprised me with around 24 people. Highly recommended, we'll be back!

A Vietnamese restaurant - like "before": With delicious food, beautifully decorated on small plates, the rice was served separately. The vegetables in the meal were still crunchy. The portion was large and we didn't miss anything. The service was more or less friendly. The only thing I didn't like was that the dining room is attractively decorated, but since it's one large room (reminds me of an old train station because of the arches), it's very loud when all the tables are occupied. Unfortunately, our clothes and hair also smelled very much like food after our visit...

Very mixed experience. Ambience is excellent, very nice furniture and building, bright and the outdoor area is also pleasant. The rest of the experience, however, was more than disappointing. Incredibly slow service, extreme waiting times and no interest from the employees in our table - no inquiry as to whether there was still a need for drinks or dessert, no inquiry as to whether the food was tasty, the table was half cleared and only half an hour later the second half of the empty dishes cleared away. At the same time, the regular guests at the neighboring table were courted with all honor and commitment, so that as a 'new customer' you felt like you were being taken for a ride... The meal was an ambivalent experience: meat was okay, but ultimately no higher quality than pretty much any average Asian restaurant. My fish dish, on the other hand, was a disgrace: the fish was disgustingly soft, only the crust held it together, and in the mouth it fell apart into a tasteless mush. The remaining seafood ordered amounted to a single cold shrimp and three and a half frozen squid rings. Plus a good portion of vegetables; some good, some more raw than prepared. There was no rice or pasta as a side dish at all. It was also absurd that this dish was the only one delivered without a hot plate and for a table of 7 people only a bowl of rice was provided, which was only enough with a lot of goodwill (our interest from the abstinent staff was to order another portion more than limited). Only the sauces were really good. Presumably if you're a regular, it's a really decent restaurant (although the quality doesn't match the price), but getting to that point isn't worth the journey of gastronomic experience.

We've been there a few times and the food has always been great! We have now waited 25 minutes and not even any drinks were taken, while the large table next to us was served continuously and also received a drink for the third time. It's a shame, we drove back without drinking or eating. I understand that things get stressful at times, but we were simply ignored by the service. Very unfortunate.

Used to go here several times a week, now got cold duck on a sizling plate.

I often heard good things about it back then and have now tried it myself. Unfortunately I can't praise anything other than the nice staff. I ordered duck with vegetables, it was crispy duck on only raw bamboo shoots. As a show, the lady poured liquid over the duck, which was probably fish souse 🤢 So paying almost twice as much for run-of-the-mill duck with only bamboo sprouts than in a Chinese snack bar that includes more vegetables doesn't make any further recommendation.

Absolutely top local. Great attentive service, great ambience, pleasant prices, everything was perfectly prepared and super tasty (absolutely top-notch cuisine), beautiful, quiet beer garden in the middle of the forest behind the restaurant, Pleasant prices, suitable for wheelchairs - as it is at ground level. All in all, a highly recommended Chinese restaurant. !!! Little tip: Be sure to reserve a table in advance with the number of people as it is always busy!! It's rarely possible to spontaneously find space there because it's very busy!!

Loud, like in a train station hall. Food greasy and hardly seasoned. We asked for salt and were given an empty, very dirty salt shaker with a few grains of rice in it. The attempt to get a new one failed because not once in an hour and a half did anyone from the grim-looking waiters come to our table and ask if anything was missing. We would actually have liked to have coffee and dessert, but having to constantly almost "beg" for someone to come to the table doesn't make the evening particularly comfortable. Then go somewhere else, not here again. Oh yes, the table decoration was a completely wilted flower in a vase where the limestone edges showed the water evaporating, very romantic... see picture. Furniture is also getting old and chairs are frayed.

We, a family of 3, arrived at the restaurant shortly after it opened; the rooms and sanitary facilities were very well maintained. The service was very friendly and very patient when asked about the dishes. It would have been desirable to have signs indicating the vegan dishes, because the vegetarian dishes are also vegan. Instead of vegetarian you could have chosen the heading “Vegan dishes”. Unfortunately there are only 2 dishes to choose from, but that makes the choice easier. The food came quickly and the sweet and sour sauce came separately in a small bowl with one of the dishes, so the food could be seasoned with the sauce as desired. The vegan food was slightly spicy but not spicy. A note on the menu would be helpful to improve this. The jasmine tea I ordered smelled very good and tasted very floral. It is served in a pot of water with loose tea leaves in it. The location is also recommended as a stopover. After a short conversation with the owner, we found out that the rooms can also be reserved for weddings with a buffet. All in all, we left the restaurant very satisfied and well-fed. The price-performance ratio is reasonable and there is also something for vegans here.

As always, we were very excited. Really super delicious food, hence the five stars 🌟 🌟 🌟 🌟 🌟

Unfortunately, we were really disappointed for the first time. The four of us were there at 6:30 p.m. (open from 6 p.m.) and we agreed that the service in particular had deteriorated significantly. The greeting was just "Have you made a reservation?" (Boss) (we had) and then a grumpy employee who assigned us a table and also when serving later remained short. The prices have increased on the current menu - which is basically understandable - but the food was no longer as tasty. We had 2x sweet and sour duck, 1x duck served on a wooden board and 1x beef special: a lot less vegetables in the dishes, the portions overall smaller than before. Rice was only put out for two people, but more was quickly brought out when the bowl was empty. There was a mistake when the boss took or passed on the order and the wrong dish arrived. They probably tried quickly to bring the fourth dish that was now missing, but the duck dish that was then delivered was not yet cooked, the meat was cold on the inside and not crispy. We asked to reheat it, but that didn't make it any tastier. (Microwave?) One of our four drinks was also wrong and was replaced upon our advice. It was impossible to quickly ask something or order something when someone brought something to our table - the person left so quickly. With a few friendly words of apology and a question as to whether everything is OK. Oh well, with a smile and, above all, attention (no requests for further drinks, no offer of a possible dessert) we would certainly have been in a more forgiving mood. So we kept getting annoyed about something the whole evening. What a shame, because we've always liked it there so far. I would also like to note that I went specifically to reserve a table because I wanted to choose a slightly quieter table in a corner. The boss then replied that I could choose the table myself that evening. When I asked the gentleman who quickly assigned us a table about another table - which he pointed to - he was harshly told "it's reserved!" So it works???????

Even at Easter and the restaurant is full, there is great service, delicious food and good wine. Always happy and that's been the case for 20 years

It used to be great, but unfortunately it's no longer recommended today. The food is average, the service is lousy, the waiting times are catastrophic. After we were shown to our table, it took 45 minutes until we had the opportunity to order food.

Food was very tasty, as it was very busy it took a while.

Unfortunately it's not as tasty as it once was. The food wasn't really warm despite the heating plate and the meat was very dry. And to make matters worse, we also had the bill from the previous guest on the bill. It has slowed down a lot. Unfortunately, not very friendly conditions either. So not again for us.

Delicious. Nice rooms. Service good, but well stocked. Since there were only three service staff in the restaurant, it sometimes took a little longer. However, the waiting time for the food was surprisingly short.

Meine Familie und ich waren gestern zum ersten mal bei euch und es hat uns extrem gut gefallen. Wir wussten nicht, dass es in Paderborn ein Restaurant dieser Qualität, mit so leckerem Essen und freundlichem Service gibt. Das Essen war so reichlich, dass wir es auch heute noch geniessen dürfen. Sehr zu empfehlen!

Unfortunately, the good ambience doesn't make up for the bad service. The food was generally good, but unfortunately there are Chinese restaurants that have better employees and serve food of the same quality. I highly recommend that the restaurant train its staff in dealing with customers.

We ordered two soups and the boss acknowledged it with a grimace. When asked where the toilets were, the boss pointed her finger at the toilet without saying a word. Unfriendly to the point of being unfriendly. We will definitely never come back!!!

We went to this restaurant for the first time. When we came in we liked the atmosphere and interior, we were in a good mood, but after they approached us to place an order, all joy and mood disappeared. I would like to point out that the service was very poor even though we were served by the lady boss of this restaurant. We ordered two soups, at which she laughed in our faces and was very surprised why we didn't order something else straight away. Then when we asked her where the toilets were, she didn't answer but pointed her finger at the toilets. I don't recommend this restaurant at all!

The food is delicious. But I initially got the wrong food and the correct version had black hair. My clearly red ones definitely weren't.

Yummy. Appetizer plates are expensive in price, but not in terms of content. Pleasant atmosphere, attentive staff and clean toilet. Not cheap, but good.

The food was amazing compliments to the chef,however the service is disgraceful three of our party work in catering locally, so we know what we are talking about. The staff of four at phong's restaurant did not seem to communicate or have the correct work method when serving customers you wait a long time for your food, service was shockingly slow for example we waited 15 mins after asking for the bill at the same time we noticed people who came in after us got there bill immediately and were able to leave, we had to go to the till at the entrance and we were not the only customers that had to do that,also we were met with attitude from the older waitress when we had informed them beforehand that we wished to pay separately, they denied that we informed them of this but were rude just like the last time we went a year and a half ago,that is why we did not go back for a long time but surprise it happened again. The front of house staff are not well organised obviously it is a family run restaurant hence the communication issues.

Essen war wie immer sehr gut und der Service auch

Hervorragende asiatische Küche. Besonders mittags gut besucht. Aber auch abends immer ein guter Tipp für besonderes Essen. Bereits seit mehr als 25 Jahren in Schloss Neuhaus.

Essen war super lecker und von der Menge (wenn man nicht so viel Reis dabei isst) völlig in Ordnung.

Wir haben hier im Kreise von Freunden einen schönen Abend verbracht, dazu beigetragen haben in diesem Inhaber geführtem Restaurant das schöne Ambiente, der professionelle und schnelle Service und die gute, Asiatische Küche aus frischen Produkten . Das Restaurant ist auch beliebt weil die Preise sehr günstig sind, deshalb ist ein Reservierung für den Abend ratsam. Einziger Wermutstropfen, wenn der Hauptgang serviert und abgeräumt ist, lässt sich niemand mehr vom Service am Tisch blicken, zur Bestellung von weiteren Getränken, Dessert oder Café muss man eine Bedienung suchen

Super leckeres Essen. Aufmerksamer Service. Nur die Spinnenweben über den Gardinen im hinteren Saal könnten mal beseitigt werden.

Einen Stern Abzug gibt es, weil wir sehr lange auf das Essen warten mussten. Den Betreibern fehlt einfach Personal.

Great experience, but the service could be better.

Wie immer sehr leckeres Essen, dafür 5 Sterne. Das Personal ist allerdings sehr unfreundlich und einfach nur genervt. Kein "Hallo", "hat´s geschmeckt", oder "darf es noch etwas sein". Der Gastraum war ungeheizt und für unseren Geschmack zu kalt, eine der Bedienungen lief sogar in einer Daunenweste rum.... Daher werden wir dieses Restaurant erst einmal nicht mehr besuchen.

Seit 29 Jahren immer ein Erlebnis hierher zu kommen. Essen immer von hoher Qualität. Man fühlt sich immer willkommen. Herr und Frau Phong sind immer sehr freundlich.

Sehr leckeres Essen, sehr nettes Personal. Das Essen wird frisch zubereitet und der Service ist top. Das werden wir wiederholen.

Obwohl wir rund 100 km entfernt wohnen, besuchen wir Phong's Restaurant regelmäßig und sind immer wieder begeistert. Die Atmosphäre im Restaurant ist sehr angenehm und familiär. Sehr schön kann man in den wärmeren Monaten auch auf der Veranda sitzen. Hier gibt es für kühleres Wetter genügend Windschutz und auch Infrarotstrahler. Das Essen war bei uns bisher immer schön heiß, wenn es serviert wurde und ließ keine Wünsche offen. Besonders die Ente auf der heißen Gußeisenplatte ist ein Gedicht. Wir genießen sehr, dass man bei Phong auch immer guten Rotwein zum Essen bestellen kann. Das ist aus unserer Erfahrung bei asiatischen Restaurant eher selten. Wir können Phong's Restaurant ohne Wenn und Aber empfehlen.

Wir waren mit einer großen Gruppe im Phong essen. Die Menüauswahl war mehr als ausreichend. Für jeden Geschmack war etwas dabei. Das Essen war gut, die Portionen riesig, der Service okay, preislich absolut im Rahmen und das Restaurant an sich sehr authentisch eingerichtet. Leider haben wir jedoch 1,5 Stunden auf das Essen warten müssen, was nicht so schön war. Ebenso bekamen einige von uns auch das falsche Gericht. Am Ende waren jedoch alle satt und zufrieden, trotz falscher Gerichte.

Freundlicher Empfang, recht zügige Bewirtung auch trotz hohem Gäste aufkommen.
