A very pleasant and relaxing evening! The whole team is very friendly and attentive. We thoroughly enjoyed the food (great cuisine at fair prices; unfortunately, that's rare to find in Hamburg these days...) and will gladly come back again!

We had a wonderful evening with truly delicious food and incredibly warm service! I informed them beforehand about my gluten-free dietary requirements and felt very taken seriously, both during a phone call and in person. Even though they didn't seem to have any prior knowledge of my condition, the entire team went above and beyond to accommodate me, and I was able to enjoy the entire menu with only minor adjustments. The composition of each dish was a visual and culinary delight, and unfortunately, it was over far too quickly. It's definitely worth a visit if you're looking for a relaxed and special meal with attentive service. The ambiance wasn't quite to my taste, but that's a minor point, as you're hopefully focused on your companion and the beautiful food. Thank you so much for the lovely evening!

We had a thoroughly enjoyable evening: The service was exceptionally friendly, and the atmosphere was pleasant and inviting. The food was excellent – ​​from the pumpkin starter to the duck menu and the schnitzel. The dishes arrived promptly, were fresh, and tasted absolutely superb. To finish, we had a crème brûlée, which perfectly rounded off the evening. The prices are on the higher end, but they are absolutely commensurate with the quality and service. Overall, a highly recommended restaurant for a relaxed and sophisticated evening.

My personal highlight of the evening: the cheese trolley at the end – simply divine. The ambiance is cozy and perfect for a relaxing evening. I highly recommend the corner table for couples; it's especially lovely. One minor drawback is the noise level, particularly when there are larger groups. Nevertheless, I wholeheartedly recommend it to anyone who appreciates good, seasonal cuisine and a warm atmosphere.

All the dishes we had were outstanding! Absolutely nothing to complain about. The service was great, and so was the ambiance.

The two of us dined at Philips. It's a cozy, small restaurant with knowledgeable service. The wine was delicious. I had a starter with avocado, miso, and green apple. Delicious and refreshing! The main course was a daily special: spaghetti with burrata, tuna, and cherry tomatoes. I expected more; it was fine, but nothing special. Dessert was a lava cake with berry ice cream. It tasted delicious, but it was too pricey. After all, a lava cake is easy and inexpensive to make. My partner had a veal schnitzel for the main course. It was fine, but not particularly flavorful and a bit dry. In short, we had an okay meal, but we think it was overpriced for what you get.

A relaxed restaurant for smaller groups, very intimate, and very, very tasty. A straightforward menu, but everything is delicious. Wines are fairly priced, from the house wine under Philipp's name to unusual wines that you should just ask the chef about. No matter what you want, everything is possible, and a chat with the extremely pleasant staff is highly recommended. A wonderful evening 😊

In the heart of Hamburg this elegant restaurant welcomed a table of 10 persons. In spite of the number the service was precise and fast. The food was well prepared and tasty and the personnel kind and present. Not the longest menu choice ever, but I think this is the success to make all dishes of great quality and taste. Great!

Their farm garden is incredibly cozy! I had a schnitzel which was ok, there is no doubt they can cook, but I would probably try something next time. Judging by what other guests were served and their combined wine menu, I still give the place 6 stars. Will definitely come again and try their 6 course menu to give the quality a proper chance. Their service was really high. Worthy of recommendation.

Dining at this highly rated establishment was a wonderful experience for a family of four adults. We sat at a quaint booth and our tastebuds were delighted with each course as the evening progressed. Enjoyed the refreshing tart taste to the simple artichoke/parmesan salad. Ossobuco sat on creamy polenta and was full of flavor and succulent. Wine list was varied and reasonable. Lava cake with strawberry sorbet was decadent and a grand finish to an incredible meal. This place truly lived up to its well earned star.

Delicious appetizers and main courses. Very good wines for pairing the dishes and absolutely impeccable service. Weather was nice so we were moved to the small garden area, it was lovely. We want for dinner, party of two. We had steak tartar, artichokes, Schnitzel and a special lamb chops dish that wasn’t on the menu and a lively dessert made with seasonal fruits. We had the chance to taste 4 different wines with our dinner. It was a wonderful experience. Highly recommended and better to make a reservation since it is a small place.

Philipp is a very personable host, and you can immediately tell that he puts his heart and soul into his job. The location is top-notch, the food is truly amazing, the guys can still cook, and, among other things, they serve Kölsch beer. I'll definitely be back.

We visited Philipps Restaurant for the first time today, and everything was just right. A small restaurant with a lovely ambiance, friendly, personal service, and first-class food. The special cheese selection is particularly worth mentioning. We'll definitely be back.

More or less by chance, we ended up at Philipp's Restaurant in the Karlinenviertel on Saturday (March 1, 2025). It's a gem in Hamburg where you can spend a relaxing evening with good wine and excellent food in a relaxed atmosphere without spending half a fortune. The staff is service-oriented and attentive. As the owner told me at the end, there were a few absences due to illness that evening, but we didn't notice. Only that he himself was helping out in the service, which demonstrates the team spirit. The food is international and quite ambitious, yet down-to-earth without unnecessary frills. We relaxed for an appetizer from the à la carte menu (ceviche) and two main courses from the daily special, as we weren't in the mood for a set menu, even though it sounded very good. The ceviche was very simple. The fish was excellent, although I would have hoped for a bit more complexity in the marinade. For my wife's main course, she had a beef fillet, cooked to perfection (medium). The accompanying vegetables (asparagus and peas) still had a bit of a bite, which is a matter of taste. I personally had the braised pork cheeks with creamed savoy cabbage and bacon and potato mash, and I highly recommend it. Beautifully tender braised meat with a reduced, dark sauce that perfectly complemented the slightly bitter savoy cabbage. A real winner for me. Accompanied by a wine from the Languedoc, which, with its dark berry and herbal aromas, complemented our meal very well. To finish, we had the warm chocolate cake with a liquid heart. A perfect sweet ending. The clientele was well-diversified, and the tables, despite the small space, were spaced sufficiently apart to create a suitable private atmosphere. We will definitely come back and try the menu ;)

Really extremely tasty and at the same time uncomplicated and cozy

This was our fourth time eating here. Always the complete menu (6 or 7 courses) with the right wine accompaniment. It's worth it every time. The food, service and ambience are really very good. It's certainly not star-rated food, but it's close and significantly cheaper. The dishes are prepared to perfection and the wine always goes well to very well with it. We would be happy to come back and accept a 200km journey again because we always feel comfortable and as a customer... king.

The price level was completely ok. A small drawback: We sat in the back area and it was quite loud. Maybe it was just the four people at the next table who were outdoing each other by talking about their golf and yachting vacations and how nothing was learned in German schools anymore and that more elites should be trained - unfortunately I couldn't find the off button... Never heard of educational equity? It's a shame that good restaurants too often attract people like this but they still absolutely go there!
