Great shop, great food, and the staff is sensational.

A wonderful evening with excellent food, a singing bard at our table, and music in the old vaulted cellar. The service was superb.

Something completely different. Definitely worth a visit.

The medieval restaurant is really cool, the atmosphere is great 👍 The menu is appropriately adapted (just like in the Middle Ages): chicken thighs, cutlets, whole duck, sausages, etc. The price is okay. Definitely recommended if you want to experience something different than a normal restaurant 😉 The only downside was that we often had to chase after the waiter to pay.

Those who believe the website are out of luck. On Friday, there was neither a bard/live program nor the medieval banquet; only seven main courses were available. The chicken soup tasted better a few years ago. And the chicken drumsticks (€22.50) weren't quite what you'd expect if you believe the website and travel to Rostock for the medieval banquet. Unfortunately, the on-site complaint was completely ignored, and a later complaint to management was even less so. A real shame. The website urgently needs to clarify what one can and cannot actually expect.

We had a wonderful evening. Great atmosphere, generous portions, and fantastic staff. Highly recommended.

We were at Petrikeller today, and I give it 5 stars for the food, service, and ambiance. Eating like it used to be, just without cutlery, which works. It was totally relaxing, and the waiters served us brilliantly. A huge thank you for that! We recommend you and will definitely be back. Best, Kathrin

Three days ago, we (two people) had the pleasure of enjoying the Petrikeller with all our senses! Our expectations (preliminary information from the website) were more than met, both in terms of the culinary delights and the ambiance of the ancient vaulted cellar. Our sincere thanks go to the attentive servants who made our evening a truly memorable dining experience (witty jokes, entertaining games, stimulating conversations about the Middle Ages (and, last but not least, a fork for the maiden with a broken arm). We'll definitely be back next time we're in Rostock!

First time there, I had the roast duck with fried potatoes and red cabbage. There was also dessert for a second helping. Highly recommended

I liked that this restaurant doesn't rush you, but rather creates an atmosphere where you can relax and experience emotions. The waiters offer various games, and everything is served in an interesting and attentive manner. The restaurant offers small, thoughtful touches, and you can feel that attention is paid not only to the food but also to the atmosphere. A very unusual experience; you'll want to return.

Everything is great, the staff is fantastic! The food is delicious, and the prices are reasonable. The website needs to be updated, though. The Friday and Saturday specials could deter customers. It's out of date, anyway.

Nice ambiance, plenty of food, but the meat (duck and especially ribs) is very dry. False friendliness, questions/opinions are answered snidely, you don't really feel welcome! Also, there's hardly any parking nearby. Better to eat somewhere else...there are better knight's feasts.

Medieval style, but when they tell you that to eat you only have a knife and you have to use your hands. Well, I'd better say it right away, I could have given up.

Very cool place, with good service and fun theme. You get ALOT of food per portion and it's not ideal for vegetarians (although they have one option). The staff is nice and you get to try out a few historical games.

There's definitely a great, old-world atmosphere. It's also fun to eat with just a knife and your hands. It's a bit challenging, but also interesting. The waiters are super friendly and funny, and they even play a role to ensure the medieval flair comes across well. What I didn't find particularly tasty for the price was the food. It was very simple, but also appropriate. Perhaps they could come up with something else to make the menu a bit different. Not everyone might like sausages, roast duck, chicken legs, or even ribs.

It's been about 30 years since I visited, but my memory isn't wrong. The farmhand, in particular, made stopping here an experience not to be missed. A feast of the finest quality, with a bit of skill and luck at the end. Hopefully, it won't be quite as long until my next visit 😊

The ambiance is amazing! Service was very polite and attentive! The food was OK, but the ribs and boiled potatoes were really just OK... for the price, I would have expected something better. A solid 4 stars! Reservations are recommended!

It was my first time at the restaurant; my husband surprised me with it for our wedding anniversary. Every new guest (including us) was warmly welcomed. You're shown to your seat by the waiter, and you get a welcome drink to start with before you order a big meal 😀 I have to say, I was surprised; the ambiance, the overall impression > top-notch, the host (the waiter) very nice, friendly, and helpful if you have any questions or requests. They're also happy to have a little chat. The food was excellent, highly recommended > the portions were generous > it's something completely different > you're only allowed to eat with your fingers, but that's exactly what makes this place special. We started with a small farmer's bread with lard, then a spiced meat with bread wedges, for the main course, smoked pork with sauerkraut and potatoes with quark, then a cheese plate with bread wedges, and to drink, we had sparkling wine and a dragon's blood. In any case, it tasted really delicious and we are looking forward to our next visit soon!

The restaurant was simply fantastic. The food was delicious and plentiful. The waiters did a fantastic job. But there was one downside. A group of people sat down next to us who were behaving so badly. First of all, they were already tipsy when they entered the restaurant, and they were just shouting, even while eating. Normal conversation was no longer possible at our table. This dampened the mood, so we left earlier than planned. What a pity.

When you go to the place and find it completely closed for a private party, no sign and no announcement.

Great evening! A magnificent atmosphere with entertainers who truly embraced their roles. It's definitely something different to feast in the Petrikeller. "Bring him another brew!" The atmosphere was fantastic, from the first horns to the minnesang to the washing of hands, it was an experience. It was a bit loud, though; anyone with hearing impairment or difficulty with sound will have to strain to understand their neighbors. A shame.

If you like medieval and rustic food, this is the place for you. The ambience is absolutely amazing and the eating with fingers (everyone gets ONE knife to share the meat) is also really cool.

Das Ambiente und der Service stimmten, es war wie immer ein lustiger Abend. Aber: das Essen war nicht mehr so gut. Die Rippchen waren trocken, die Ente nicht ganz gar und auch trocken. Alles war mglw lange vorgekocht und nur aufgewärmt. Der Preis ist absolut nicht gerechtfertigt. Der Barde war nett, hat zuletzt aber Shantys gesungen. Das passt definitiv nicht und war früher netter mit den passenden Liedern und Minnegesang.

Simply super beautiful!!! You feel like you've stepped back in time, something we've never experienced before. 👍 You should definitely experience it. All in all, 5 ⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐! A huge thank you again for the fantastic evening!

In the Petrikeller again for 20 years. It was a fun evening. Good and sufficient portions. We were warmly welcomed. The waiters (servants) are happy to have a chat. As soon as new guests enter, they are welcomed immediately. 👍 It's a shame that we aren't in Rostock that often. Otherwise we would be happy to come back.

To all Rostockers and non-Rostockers. A visit is worth its weight in gold and a must. Everything just fits, the concept, the food, the ambience and the staff are really top. You can enjoy the evening very nice and funny. Kudos to the whole team, keep it up 👌👍👍👍

Think fine dining, but the other way around! A rustic cellar and medieval atmosphere, you are served HUGE portions with only a bib and a sharp knife as accessories, i.e. - eat with your hands. Once there, I first got a small shot with a spicy taste, then almost half a loaf of bread with some kind of butter, then ordered duck with fried potatoes and red cabbage, half a duck arrived! Perfectly fried, crispy skin, amazingly delicious. Entertaining staff, who often refilled the beer mug, with little riddles and games during dinner. This is where you should go if you want to be surprised!

Rustic ambience, hearty food and tasty drinks. If you don't want the glamorous ambience, this is the place for you. Pre-booking a table is not a bad idea if you want to dine with a larger group.

Peter Keller is not just a pub/bar/restaurant, it's an adventure! Always full and noisy so it's better to make a reservation without it, it may be difficult! It's a themed restaurant, which is the kind of nonsense I like! Once there, you are transported to the Middle Ages. And the service with great texts only enhances this great impression. In the dark and austere basement you won't get cutlery, only knives, so be careful with the soups 🤣🤣. It's really worth getting carried away by the history! Simple but tasty dishes, free liqueurs, challenges, puzzles and at the end a dice roll! Will you be able to party for free? I rolled as many as 2x1. Go and try it! Maybe we'll meet?

Whenever I visit my brother in Rostock, the Petrikeller is one of our destinations. As a Viking and medieval fan, I've always loved restaurants like this. The restaurant is located in a vaulted cellar and has the atmosphere of an old inn. The waitresses are friendly and have fun for everyone. The portions are large enough and very tasty. I can definitely recommend this restaurant and will definitely visit again soon.

Exactly my thing. We had a very entertaining evening. The welcome starts with the location and you immediately feel like you are in the Middle Ages. The service is warm, the food is delicious and sumptuous. There is also the musical entertainment with a very talented singer Barden. Many thanks to the great team, we will definitely be back.

Cool concept and very likeable “servants”, but unfortunately it stays that way. The food wasn't special, unfortunately the duck died at least twice.

One of the best dining options I've seen so far. The concept and attraction of medieval food and drink is magnificent and stands out from the usual eating out and modern customs. This makes it look very unique and varied. First we were welcomed with a small welcome drink. Afterwards there was warm, delicious, homemade bread with lard. For the main course we chose baked rib, which was very filling and provided a real treat for the palate. The dark barley brew that I served with it was equally delicious. Ambiance & service are also great! It is warm and cozy and the staff is very accommodating and benevolent. This makes the mood positive. Overall, the Petrikeller remains a pleasant memory and I recommend it to others. Thank you for a great evening!

We came to the Petrikeller spontaneously and completely unaware and had a lovely evening. Friendly staff and the food was delicious, even without a fork and spoon.

It was a very nice evening. The food was great, as was the service and the ambience was perfect, so I give 5 stars for everything. I can only recommend it and will go there again.

Rip-off to perfection. Christmas dinner for 18 people at a table. There was 1!! Pkatte with a duck, 10 sausages, 5 chicken legs and a few smoked pork slices. The rest couldn't be defined, especially since 18 men were having fun. When I go out to eat, I would rather have my own plate (Knight's meal), which I also paid for. It was at least €39... so, for me: NEVER AGAIN

Full “star points” from me. We had our early Christmas party with 10 people here. It was a mega evening. The food was delicious and so much, they sealed the leftovers for us so we could take them with us. The service was great. Both "servants" who served us were quick, attentive and friendly/funny. The atmosphere immediately makes you imagine the Middle Ages. As I said, a great evening....gladly again.

Very large portions of food and friendly service. Everything in the style of the Middle Ages.

One of my best experience in a restaurant, the medieval atmosphere is there. The staff is warm, kind and welcoming. The food is absolutely delicious. We went for a birthday, it was perfect, if you hesitate to go to that restaurant, don't think longer, just go! This restaurant is not only a good medieval theme restaurant, it is also an excellent restaurant overall.

If you want to experience something different this is the place to be. You will be served and eat in a medieval way. With a free welcoming drink You will open the menu and find a very good selection of plates. For my self I had the beer of the house, duck served with a bread and homemade butter, roasted potatoes and betroth. It was amazing I strongly recommend. And if you are lucky you will not pay your meal if you make 3x1 on the dice.

So all in all it's really just great

Always a great experience, we were warmly welcomed and praised for our appropriate clothing. This is exactly the right place to completely leave everyday life with your friends and/or family and go to the Middle Ages for a few hours. Recommended especially for meat lovers, but there are also alternatives for vegetarians.

Unique atmosphere among the streets of the old town - unfortunately the service on our evening was very unfriendly and arrogant. Some orders went missing. Then the lack of originality and accuracy in Middle High German got on your nerves; After all, we wanted to place our orders and not wait and guess. The food was mediocre, the portions were sufficient, there was a lack of taste in every corner, entertainment was provided.

We wanted to have a nice evening in a cozy atmosphere. With one exception, the rest of the staff was underground and inflexible. The food was okay but not enough for the number of people. For extra lard and mustard you had to get one or two thalers out of the bag. There was loud complaining and eyes rolling. Only the jugglers did a good job. I won't stand up for this underground shop in the truest sense.

This medieval-themed restaurant impresses with its concept. The food was good, but the onion soup was more of an onion porridge. The service is very friendly and attentive.

The ambience and the food were very good. The portions are really generous and everything tasted wonderful (which is to be expected given the prices). Unfortunately, the half duck with red cabbage and fried potatoes were too much for me to handle, so I asked for it to be packed or wanted to do it myself as I prefer that. I even suggested getting my own can as the leftovers were still very plentiful. I was told they would be happy to do this for me. When the waiter came back with the wrapped leftovers, I was a little surprised because only the meat was wrapped (sealed). When I asked where the red cabbage and potatoes were, I was told: we threw them away. I found that very surprising since I had paid for the meal. I asked the waiter to please clarify this with the kitchen, as it was not addressed that way and was not understandable to me. The waiter then never came to our table again and seemed to ignore the matter. Even after asking me several times to pack some red cabbage because I found it so delicious, nothing could be changed. They didn't get involved and said (verbatim): that wasn't the point of the matter. For me it's a total absurdity to treat guests like that and not find any compromises in favor of the guest. Because red cabbage is available “all you can eat” on the menu. Our bill was also wrong because it said drinks that we didn't have. An apology was made, but it was not possible to reach satisfied guests. It's a real shame, it would have been so easy.

Overall it was ok. The ambience was great and you can eat there once, but I wasn't convinced by the price/performance ratio.

Quaint, it's something different to eat with your hands. The food itself was very tasty, except for the soup, but as we all know, that's a matter of taste. (Well, forks existed very, very early. 😂 )

Anyone who is on holiday in Rostock must definitely go there, highly recommended!!! The ambience and the service are simply fantastic and it was a lot of fun.

We were there as a group during the week. This visit was planned and reserved a few weeks in advance. During this time, pre-selecting the food became difficult and it was unclear what the menu looked like until we sat down at the table. In short, no sense at all. For logistical reasons, we as a group were offered the slightly thinner weekend menu. Which I can also understand. But there is nothing vegetarian to be found on this one. So I was offered the vegetarian begging monk's bread as a weekend menu. However, the scope of the meal was the same, only the price was different. 35€ instead of 19€. When asked if they were serious, the answer was a clear and absolutely cheeky “yes”. For me it was the last visit to the Petrikeller.

The old German language of the maids and servants in third person alone makes the visit an experience. Well-planned Middle Ages. Quite expensive menu at €43, but every other person only needs one soup and eats from the robber's plate for €2.50.

I have never experienced such good food and spectacle in one place before

O noble Petrikeller inn in Rostock! A place where hospitality and culinary delights go hand in hand. Here, within old walls, you will be treated to delicious food and drink, just like a king would enjoy. The mead, beers and wines flow in abundance, the food is a delight and the servants are even accommodating. We particularly praise the excellent musicians, whose playing even raised the mood. Every traveler should stay here! We'll definitely be happy to come back here. The “travelling Vogtland maiden” with the “Bernau youth”.

Great trip to medieval Rostock in a fitting atmosphere. With great food and drinks. The servant and the boiler master know their craft. Not for SchickiMicki guests. Here you eat the way the robber barons did. You should definitely take it with you when you visit the Hanseatic city. It was really fun!

What can I say? Great ambience, great people, great food. Whether with children or friends (or both), the Petri Cellar is worth one (or several) visits. The fact that you actually eat with your hands and that's what makes it fun for children also provides pure entertainment. E.g. We had guests at the table behind us suddenly dancing on the table and yes, that's just part of it. Or that other guests (OK, that was us) suddenly start singing and it's fun. Get involved and enjoy it.
