The staff here are very friendly and welcoming. The prices and portions are reasonable, and the menu offers a wide variety of choices. The food is satisfactory overall, with some dishes being better than others. It is nice to dine with family or friends.

Came from Ireland to have the best pizza in town. My all time favourite pizza Salsiccia Calabrese in Pepenero Schwabing. If I got a chance i will come over and over again. 100 percent the best Italian cuisine.

It took like 45 minutes for the first course to be serviced and then it took another 45 minutes for the other food to come. The waitresses are not even looking at customers. Very slow service and customers are ignored.

We found this restaurant by chance while looking for a place to have a drink. We also ordered pizza, and my goodness, it was delicious! We'll definitely be back. Thank you for a great evening and great food.

I specifically ordered gluten-free pasta and paid a €1.50 surcharge for it, but I was still served regular pasta with gluten. For people with intolerances or celiac disease, this is absolutely unacceptable and can have serious health consequences.

TBH... This is more of a 4 stars but the service was great. The staffs repeatedly made sure that "is everything alright?" and seeing the way they serve their customers diligently, it warms my heart and thus the extra star for them. I only had a beer, and a Linguine allo scoglio aka some kind of seafood pasta, which was good! It had little pieces of clams and squids, 2 decent sized prawns and 2 mussels, which were all good. But the tiny little squids and clams when combined, felt like they were dancing happily in my mouth with the tomatoes based linguine. It's a very decent meal for sure. Something that I didn't like...? The Spaten Hell beer... It's Abit gassy and tasted Abit different from normal German beers. I can't remember the others I drank here, but most were great and all were better than this. It's not bad, just not to my liking. Overall, this is a 8.25/10 and dining in a nice quiet neighbourhood, adds to the whole experience!

Great selection of pasta and pizza. Deliciously prepared. Very good salads and an excellent selection of drinks. Plenty of seating inside and outside. Close to the Münchener Freiheit subway station. Good opening hours, even during the day.

No complaints. Service was so fast that I almost thought that the waitress had the wrong table. Pizzas are easily the star of the show too, absolutely huge and tasted great. The pizza diavola (attatched below) was huge, and it's worth noting that the plate was abnormally large too (picture of knife and fork attatched for scale). Very affordable too, nice outdoor seating. Waitresses were quick to refill drinks.

I was very disappointed with my visit to this restaurant. I waited 20 minutes without being served – even though I tried twice to politely inform the waitress that I'd like to order. Each time, I was fobbed off with an arrogant remark: "I'll be right with you." But that never happened. Instead, I was completely ignored, even though other guests who arrived after me were served immediately – by the same waitress! When I complained to another employee, all I got was a disinterested "So what?" I then left. The staff's behavior was completely unprofessional and rude. No service, no friendliness, no respect for the guests. I've never experienced anything like it. I will definitely never come back – and I can't recommend this restaurant to anyone. One star is still too many!

Little casual but we’d enjoyed a dinner at here with colleagues. They offer range of pasta and pizza menu and I chose the spaghetti scampi which is my favorite pasta. With nice white and red white together with very enjoyable moment with colleagues.

Definitely a solid restaurant. It's a great place to spend an evening. The food isn't particularly high-quality, but the taste is okay. The pizzas were delicious; you can also take them with you if you can't make it or want to go. The pasta, however, could be improved. Vegetarian options are simply carrots and peas 😱. Service could be better. Communication issues. A bit dark at the table. Missing candles. Parmesan cheese was rationed. 🥹

A friendly but firm response from the staff would have been desirable to ensure a more pleasant experience for other guests. Service: The service was generally attentive and quick – however, we would like to note one point that struck us as unpleasant: The attention of the service staff was strongly focused on the male companions. For example, only the male guest was asked whether the food was tasty, while the female companions were ignored. In a modern, hospitable restaurant, we expect respectful and equal treatment of all guests – regardless of gender. Conclusion: Pepinero impresses with its excellent food and fair prices. However, there is still room for improvement in terms of service and handling disruptions in the dining room. We would nevertheless give the restaurant a second chance – hoping for a thoroughly enjoyable experience on our next visit.

Hello, ladies and gentlemen, we had a wedding reception today and ate at Pepenero. The woman with the braided hair served us excellently. Even though there were a lot of us and we had many special requests, everything was brought very quickly and every wish was fulfilled. What was also very kind was that the waitress rearranged the tables especially for us. The food was great, especially the spaghetti scampi. I highly recommend it. Best wishes from the family with the wedding reception.

"Eat well and affordably, and get your fill" – this successful concept has been working for 15 years now! We judge a restaurant primarily by its value for money, and that's even better at PepeNero's. Just like the always friendly and patient service. More than just pasta and pizza, always worth a visit.

We were there last night shortly after 7 p.m. and I'm actually very lazy about writing a review, but yesterday's visit has practically given me the impetus to give one. Reading the reviews, I find Kaya74's review very apt, and we have exactly the same impression. It couldn't have been described better: The waiters are truly unfriendly and give you mummy-like looks (I think Kaya74's review is spot on). We didn't have a table reservation, so we fully understand having to wait a bit longer. We waited "dutifully" at the entrance so that a waiter could greet us appropriately and at least briefly say a few words to us about whether there was a chance of a table. If not, that would have been fine, too. After waiting 15 minutes without anyone speaking to us, we ended the "tragedy" and left, which ultimately turned out to be a good thing, since we were expecting Italian food yesterday and were looking for another restaurant. We then found one near Leopoldstrasse/Ungererstrasse. It's called Restaurant Italy. It was the complete opposite of Pepenero. Very friendly waiters (it was also very busy, but the waiters were willing to give us a table), the food was excellent, the atmosphere was very pleasant and friendly, and not to forget: the prices were much better than at Pepenero (but that's probably unnecessary. I think everyone knows that Pepenero isn't exactly cheap).

We went there for dinner last night and sat outside on the sunny side. Although it was very busy, the service was very friendly and accommodating and you didn't have to wait long for your food. Everything was very tasty and the atmosphere was great too. All in all, highly recommended!

I am surprised why so many ppl rate this place five stars. I barely comment here but I have to this time since this place is nothing I can appreciate! The food is normal but stuff (the three waitresses) were very arrogant and disrespectful.

We had reserved a quiet place for three people, with a dog. We then ended up in a corner with a bunch of small children who were actually just crying and stressing the whole time. After we organized ourselves, the waitress wasn't happy at all, but at least it was the relaxed dinner we wanted. The starter was a real joke for the prices, but the pizza was quite good. As soon as we entered, the waitress pointed out to us that they were totally understaffed and that we had to be prepared for longer waiting times. This was clearly noticeable even after we received our food and drinks. We weren't asked whether everything was okay or whether we had any further wishes. Our request to be allowed to pay was actually complied with, even after repeated requests. The waitress was visibly surprised by the very sparse tip given to the waitress, which nevertheless acknowledged the poor service. Things are different, especially in Munich!

Unfortunately, the service was very inattentive and listless. Pizza wasn't seasoned enough.

I have to say, I was there yesterday and canceled the order because the staff is so unfriendly, all the girls who wait there have mummy faces. Like you're at a funeral. And the restaurant is no longer suitable for families with strollers. You have to leave the stroller at the bar, which is not possible if you have a small baby. This used to be one of my favorite restaurants, but after experiencing this unfriendly behavior for the second time, I no longer go there.

We were not lucky to dine there when there was a party - even from the separate room the noise was overwhelming. The service was somehow slow maybe because they need to serve about 20-30 additional guests from the party. Food was delicious! True Italian style.

I don't recommend anyone to eat here. We had lasagna, canelloni and spaghetti bolognese as well as a Caesar salad. Bolognese tastes watery, unseasoned and bland. There was no sauce on the plate but rather a light red soup with minced meat. It wasn't even remotely eaten. The 3 spinach-ricotta canelloni were dry and baked with cheese in a baking dish. In terms of taste, I only tasted Iglo spinach, nothing more. The canelloni were not round “tubes” but were rolled up from lasagna sheets, you can do that but you don’t have to…. The salad had far too little dressing, there were loose Romaine lettuce leaves on the plate with croutons (very greasy) and Parmesan. It could be nicer but okay, whatever. The horror was the lasagna. The same bolognese as mentioned above, but old, soggy lasagna sheets were used. You could press the “lasagna” into a pulp with a fork. It was terrible and wasn't eaten. When we paid we said the food was terrible but the lasagne was criminal. The waitress then said that guests were constantly complaining about the lasagna! That says it all, but nothing is changed. Of course we still had to pay. However, we were not offered an espresso on the house or anything similar. Wasted €70! Thanks for nothing.

Unfortunately, the two ladies yesterday (December 30th) had absolutely no desire to serve us, which you could tell by the expression on their faces. The fact that the waitresses bring the food to you chewing with their mouths full doesn't help either. In addition, we sat dry for at least 20, if I even 25 minutes and were not asked if we wanted something more to drink. We would probably have ordered three or four times as many drinks if we had been asked about them more often. As a guest, you don't want to have to call the waitress every 10 minutes. In terms of taste, I can recommend the restaurant, but in terms of overall ambience and experience, unfortunately we won't be visiting it again.

Being rude in front of a four year old kid is the speciality of waitresses over here, if you are not white. I have been living in Munich since last 8 years and have never experienced this kind of behaviour in any restaurant in Munich. The waitresses was so rude that my child got scared as I asked her about the spaghetti, which we ordered 20 minutes ago as my daughter was hungry.. I wonder if Jungenamt and racism Office in Germany should control this restaurant. Avoid this place, if you’re person of colour as most of the waitresses are from East Europe and are super racist.

Restaurant with semi-raw pizzas and bad service. We arrived without a reservation and they put us at a table between the bathrooms and the kitchen. We asked if we could change since the restaurant was empty and they told us that everything was reserved. When we finished dinner and left, only one other table had entered, also without a reservation, who were placed in a good location. Everything else was still exactly the same empty. The management of the staff leaves a lot to be desired and the food is nothing out of this world. To not repeat.

Per 05.08.24 we ate here again as well located and rather inexpensive meal prices, drinks are the branch usual. Negatively surprised after being told the price and having tipped, that the bill had already a 10% TIP without having been asked ! I got some cash back, but while this is not uncommon in London, we know this is not anywhere near standard in Munich ( yet...)

We ordered food through Wolt. Unfortunately it arrived very cold and that was the first no-go. The second was that the garlic pizza bread was simply four thin slices of garlic on a soaked, thick pizza dough. Wow, great cinema! For the mozzarella pizza, halved cherry tomatoes were simply distributed carelessly and three leaves of basil were placed on top. Well, the lasagne was just overloaded with cheese. The taste fell by the wayside and the sauce simply consisted of pureed tomatoes. Complete. Overall, it's a shame. More could have been done with it. That was the last time for us.

I was very surprised by the lasagna, lots of cheese, well baked and simply delicious. it really tasted very good. Also the Vitello Tonnato as a starter the bread together. Excellent service and great evening. Gladly again. The only point of criticism is the amount of ice cream in the apertivos, but I don't think there's any reason to deduct a star.

The wine was too warm, the pizza was good. But it's way too loud and the service is a bit too slow. But they aren't that cheap anymore (35€ per person on average for an evening meal is a bit too much in my opinion...)

Unthinkable - Schwabing without Pepenero. The established restaurant is not a place, but a pleasant state for everyone. In addition to pasta and pizza, you can also find octopus salad, sea bream fillet or meat dishes. The team doesn't always have an easy time with the "difficult guests" who probably sometimes have something else in mind than enjoying a nice meal. Nevertheless, they are extremely friendly and offer great service. I can only warmly recommend the Pepenero.

I think my meal/snack bruschetta with tomatoes was simply forgotten. It's also okay in the heat, what wasn't okay was giving me a burnt, very hard one, hence the bad rating.

Nice place, right next to the hustle and bustle of Munich Freedom, but still quiet. The service is very friendly, but you have to expect a slightly longer waiting time, especially at peak times. But I don't blame the service as a negative, it's probably because (like everywhere in the catering industry at the moment) there probably simply isn't enough staff to be found. The food is delicious and inexpensive. In my opinion, value for money is absolutely given here. Drinks are good too. My recommendation: the daily menu and the pasta!

The linguine pepenero is really good, but the services is so bad, I wouldn’t be surprised if the waitress spitted in the food.

What is that supposed to be? I didn't order dumplings. When you first have to cut your own salad, it looks kind of carelessly slapped together. Ordered a large Coke and still got a small one. Service was also pretty rude.
