The beer tastes delicious. However, I unfortunately have to say the cleanliness really leaves a lot to be desired. However, if you do have to go to the toilet, it won't be nice. Cleanliness and lighting should be reconsidered.

Great atmosphere, delicious food, unfortunately the level of service depended heavily on the waiter. Nevertheless, we recommend it!

I booked 2 lanes of curling for my family and friends and then reserved a table. The communication in advance was very uncomplicated. Everything went well, the food we ordered in advance tasted very good and the service was quick and friendly. We had a very nice evening and would love to come back.

Make sure you have enough tips, otherwise you risk excessive disrespect!!! Incident from December 1st, 2024, around 2:30 p.m.: After we saw the Paulaner Wirtshaus and spontaneously ordered two wheat beers “quickly,” the “waiter” made it clear to us in a very blunt manner that “we can then pay directly.” - Based on this request - it was not a request - payment was made immediately. Since the tip apparently did not meet the waiter's needs, he made this unmistakably clear by turning back to his colleagues and loudly mocking and laughing at us as paying customers during the payment process. Finally he went to the rest of the staff and described the incident there again in an arrogant, disrespectful manner. It was hard to ignore, as the rest of the customers were also surprised by the behavior. Regardless of the fact that the tip did not cause anyone to jump for joy, there should definitely be a certain degree of respect in the restaurant, but unfortunately this was in no way the case on the part of the waiter. The Paulaner Wirtshaus is actually very inviting. However, the incident that day caused a huge amount of anger, so I unfortunately have to write this post in order to avoid future grievances. It's a shame, we were actually looking forward to the wheat beer :)

Relatively expensive, but very tasty. The atmosphere is more modern-Bavarian. For my personal taste it could be a little more traditional.

We had our company Christmas party here. It was great! There was good organization and friendly advice from the managing director, Mr. Scheidt. The food was great - we had classic goose legs, red cabbage, kale and dumplings. A cold snack platter beforehand and all sorts of sweets afterwards. All highly recommended.

Price-performance ratio is not right here at all! Sausage pan with sauerkraut and mashed potatoes + mulled wine (seasonal) + water = 37 euros 🤯 If everything were fresh, I would revise the rating upwards, but the sausages were not fresh, completely shriveled from being kept warm for hours and the mulled wine was lukewarm. In terms of taste, the sauerkraut was great and the waiter was really nice too. It feels like you're paying a lot more for the central location!

We spontaneously decided to eat there and didn't regret it. We had free choice of seating, were served in a nice and friendly manner and the food was just so delicious. We can recommend it to everyone.

Gladly again. There were 13 of us, so in a small group. Luckily we had reserved beforehand. The service was not intrusive, but always with a good eye on us, so that our requests were always answered immediately. Even though it was busy, it wasn't too loud. The food was good, home-style. If you want something special and have high standards, you just have to go somewhere else. Our group thought it was delicious and was full. We felt very comfortable.

Walked in and placed an order for takeout. Came back about 30 minutes later to collect my order, upon double checking I noticed they did not provide the pretzel with the sausage plate as listed. Asked the server and it was quickly remedied. I should have investigated further. When I got home I realized they did not provide the side salad with my pork schnitzel and the mustard provided with the white sausages was not honey mustard. If you order delivery or takeout from this location be sure to double check your order before accepting . EDIT: my review was flagged and removed for “false engagement” but it has been reinstated after appeal. I will contact the restaurant as they have requested and post a follow up.

Food was very tasty. Service was quick and super nice and the ambience was appropriate for a tavern. Can't complain.

We returned from a trip around the city and were looking for a decent meal. We decided to go in here. The restaurant was beautifully decorated with plants and wreaths. We didn't reserve a table and it was full, but the staff tried hard and managed to organize a place. I ordered a currywurst. The waiting time for the food was good. The food, however, leaves something to be desired. The fries weren't very crispy and the currywurst wasn't anything special either. The curry sauce was very good, although served in a sparse amount. For an additional charge there was some extra sauce. The toilets are clean and hygienic. The staff are friendly, but unfortunately the food is just average.

Paulaner Wirtshaus Berlin on Potsdamer Platz is a really cozy German pub. There is room here for all types, even for those who are not fond of beer. But if you like good German beer, this is the place. If you're really thirsty, you can order a beer ønde with 30 liters of beer to share! You can also just settle for a standard 1 liter beer, or something smaller if you are not thirsty enough. Besides that, you can be served good German food, and in portions big enough to fill a grown man! we visited the place twice, but they forgot something or the other each time, but we got a free beer each time, which you shouldn't complain about. Super good service and good atmosphere.

I wouldn't go there again to eat: the schnitzel I ordered unfortunately turned out to be cheap frozen meat that was served dark brown, dry and resistant to cuts. My complaint was accepted without any problems: after a few minutes I received a new frozen schnitzel - probably from the microwave. As revenge from the kitchen for my criticism, this time there was neither a deep fryer nor a pan. The dry side salad couldn't save the dish either.

We went there twice, once with customers for a beer and the next evening with a colleague for dinner. Both times we received quick and friendly service, even though the store was busy both times. Paulaner beers need no explanation, and the food was very good too. Quite okay in terms of price. I can highly recommend it.

Places for a larger group are very unfavorable... Some food was very small portion... Cappuccino too small and almost cold for €4... Beer very bad for a brewery... Many opportunities for improvement...

Very solid restaurant for small and big groups of German food’s and beer’s lovers! I strongly recommend if you want to know quality cuisine as well as excellent draft Paulaner’s beers. Try platters for 2-3 persons, good selection and prices.

I imagine something different when I think of a Paulaner tavern. The ambience was clean and tidy. The service was top notch. However, the knuckle was not worthy of a Paulaner. The crust was dried out and neither edible nor cuttable. The dumpling is delicious. And there was so little space between the tables that I have rarely experienced. At least on the upper floor. Here you realize it's about money. Nevertheless, praise for the service - that should be the benchmark for the cuisine and ambience.

German food is not sophisticated. It has to be well executed to be good. The food at his place is a travesty, deeply disappointing, and totally unrepresentative of what German food should be. It is also colossally overpriced. The good reviews are surely just because most of the patrons are tourists. As a foreigner well versed and in love with this country's cuisine, trust me, if you want good German food, or good food of any sort, go elsewhere.

Nice modern beer hall in the center of Berlin. We only drank so I can't say how the food was. The beer obviously excellent

The place is very nice, spacious, clean. We went there for dinner after the Berlin marathon and it was very full but the wait was reasonable. Delicious and plentiful dishes and prices in line with the Berlin average. We loved it... it's our favorite restaurant in Berlin to eat typical food.

There was no meat in my schnitzel, it was just breading... and the fries were soft and saturated with fat.

A very nice place to try some german food. It is not like the most traditional you can have, but still a good alternative and the atmosphere is cool. We visited with a couple of friends and we felt really comfortable by the warm welcome of the waitress. She went through the menu with us helping us decide between dishes and beers. we will definitely come again on our next visit to berlin.

The staff was very nice. Actually, I don't care about complaining, but unfortunately the taste of my dish wasn't right. I had the chicken schnitzel with potatoes. These tasted like they were 2 days old, the accompanying salad was topped with a dry slice of cucumber and served without dressing. However, after my kind comment, I immediately received a new salad. You could also tell that the chicken schnitzel was frozen. This is much better. But you can only get better if the negative is honestly stated.

Had a really fantastic Bavarian meal here with the appropriate beer to go with it. Our kids loved it too.

Very tasty restaurant with nice service and great food. The dessert platter for 2 people is amazing, and my mixed plate was also very tasty. However, I would have liked a slice of meatloaf on the plate. The price is a bit more expensive but still ok.

Schnitzel is similar to an outdoor pool frozen schnitzel and that's how it tasted. Spaetzle lukewarm to cold and bland. Only the Paulaner Pils in measure was convincing. For the price you can eat much better in Berlin. I would come back just for the beer.

Everything was good... but somehow there wasn't a real tavern atmosphere here (not particularly rustic furnishings + English-speaking waiter (completely okay, of course, but somehow it doesn't fit with such a Bavarian location)). Hopefully only that evening, but you could smell the toilet at the top of the stairs... It was busy on a Friday evening... so better make a reservation. Card payment✅

Not much going on and still waited a long time, the food for the 4 of us was just lukewarm. The food was still delicious and we would come back. There was also schnapps on the house.

Ich habe hier mit den schlechtesten Espresso meines Lebens getrunken. Er war so sauer, dass sowohl ich als auch meine Frau den Espresso nicht ausgetrunken haben. Man ist es von Berlin ja gewöhnt, dass die hiesigen Kaffeerösterei den Kaffee zu Tode brennen. Aber so ein ungenießbarer Kaffee ist mir wirklich fast noch nie untergekommen. Ich kann nur empfehlen: einen weiten Bogen um The Barn machen. Und noch ein Nachsatz: die Bedienung versucht erst gar nicht, die Landessprache zu sprechen. Es wird erwartet, dass man Englisch spricht. Kein:e Geflüchtete:r könnte sich das erlauben. Da wird mindestens B1 erwartet. Den meisten Expats ist das egal. Das ist auch eine Form von Kulturimperialismus.

We are from Asia. We travelled to Berlin and wanted to find somewhere cozy to taste typical German food. However, the waiter and waitress of this restaurant deliberately ignored us for ordering and paying. They also had us waited for half an hour until we were served with dishes while the waiter said it would be no more than 15 mins to wait at first. I think it is kind of racism and discrimination against us. Moreover, the food is actually normal and overcooked. Everything is awful. This just ruins my whole day!!!!!!!!!

We want to express our appreciation for our experience at your establishment. The typical German food was delicious and allowed us to enjoy authentic dishes from the region. We especially highlighted the knuckle that I ordered, it was tasty and the pretzel was freshly baked. The German beer was also a plus point as I was able to enjoy a good beer. The quality and variety of the beers were excellent. Overall, our stay at the restaurant was very pleasant and we felt comfortable and well cared for. We hope to return soon and enjoy your hospitality and delicious meals again.

Today I was happy to eat some hearty German cuisine. The Thuringian bratwurst, which was promised to be full-bodied on the menu, turned out to be a thin, dried-out sausage. When he asked the boss about it, he couldn't say anything about it and insisted on it. “That’s our Thuringian bratwurst.” Well, that’s what happens when you’re looking forward to something familiar and then in Prussia you’re served something different and you’re also treated unkindly. It's a shame for an otherwise great restaurant.

Service = Terrible. The gentleman that served us was run off his feet. Could have easily had 2 or 3 times as many waiting staff to cover the sheer number of people trying to get served. Waited 25 minutes for the first drink. Ordered a second drink halfway through the meal that never came. Finally ordered the bill and paid a token €1 tip as the service was that bad only for the waiter to swear at the low tip! Get some staff; and the tips would get increase. Queues out the door with people wandering back out due to not being serviced. Such a shame as the food was actually ok, the drink was good but the restaurant was drastically understaffed.

The food was good and a special request was also fulfilled. The service was completely overwhelmed due to the number of guests. We waited a long time for the first drink. The furnishings are high quality, but our seat was hard and made a long stay difficult.

Were there with a large group that, according to the waiter FLAVIO, was tiring. Unfortunately, we were unkindly told how annoying it would be if everyone paid individually, so one person HAD to agree to pay for all 15 people. After naming the amount to be paid, we were rudely and demandingly urged to please pay a tip. When asked in surprise, this was explained by saying that they had been off work for 15 minutes. However, the restaurant was actually still full at that time. The waiter simply avoided further conversation by leaving without saying anything. We won't go there again.

We went to the restaurant for lunch during the week. Were served very friendly and attentive. Food is very good, hot and plentiful. Prices reasonable. There was nothing to complain about

Typically Berlin. Kitchen closes at 9:30 p.m. and closes at 11 p.m. And that on a Friday, the start of the weekend. The store can't cosmopolitan city.

Great beer, food and service. Place is cozy and not noisy. If you want to have german food without going to a beergarden then this is your place to go.

Kaiserschmarrn was no longer available, and that at 5 p.m. in the afternoon? When all you need are eggs, flour, milk...? I was really looking forward to it, what a shame. Then the steamed dumplings arrived and they were exactly as if I had warmed them up myself from the frozen food and put them on the plate with ready-made vanilla sauce. Not tasty for the price!! And then a warm cola was added. Not nice!

At Paulaner Wirtshaus serves Bayern German traditional food. It’s good food and great beer but it lacking of the ”Gemütlichkeit” as the Germans says.

BIPOC female here: Walked into the restaurant and wanted to grab a quick beer. One waiter saw us and seemingly had no issue with us taking a seat at a certain table. Suddenly an older man rushes to us and rudely ordered us to move to the bar. The man disappeared midway into me asking where the bar was. He didn't ask how long we would be there and didn't even bother to show us where the bar was. I will let your imagination fill in the blanks

Food: as expected at beer house Service:don't expect much, literally; we say at the bar, weren't greeted in anyway until more than 5 minutes later, told if we wanted to order food w e should do it then; we weren't ready (had barely opened the food menu) so we were told it was too late (it was 9:30 on a Friday night), the kitchen was finished! Atmosphere: as expected of a touristy tavern-trashed, chaotic, understaffed...but ALL of the staff leaving the shift around 9:30 had time to get themselves a drink or 2 and food- saw a server put 2 measures of vodka into a plastic cup and full it with OJ while keeping a watchful eye on his coworkers; another employee swallowed a cup of beer before pouring himself another one. I guess it's a good place to work. I had to ask twice for the check, and act like THAT tourist to get somebody's attention. Not impressed by this tavern that bears such a reputable name, what a waste of space. But, you're making money. It's the same attitude as the staff. Well done.

We came for dinner after the marathon. It was very busy, but the service didn't show that. Food came quickly, was beautifully prepared and tasted good. The staff was friendly and accommodating. Definitely a recommendation if you want Bavarian cuisine in Berlin.

I tried the roasted pork knuckle at Paulaner in Berlin. It was A LOT of food...definitely for 2. For the pork knuckle, the skin was crispy although some parts were overcooked/tough, the meat was good, and the sauerkraut was much needed for how heavy the dish was. Overall I’d give ti 8.3/10

Staff a bit slow... Olive green spinach with the salmon, looked like it was cooked to death, you could use a magnifying glass with the sausage salad... Mini portion for 11€.

This place is truly a gem of a restaurant! From the first step you feel the atmosphere of comfort and warmth, as if you are visiting old friends. The interior is thought out to the smallest detail - stylish, but not pretentious, with perfectly selected lighting that creates a magical mood.

The food is delicious, the place is beautifully decorated, and the waiters are polite. We liked everything.

Very nice restaurant! The food was great, but the plates were a little too small! The service could react a little faster and be smarter about setting up and covering! Otherwise I would come back at any time 😉

My Oktoberfest 2024 started here, in a beautiful restaurant in Berlin. I ate a perfect pork knuckle. The meat was so tender that it melted in your mouth. On top of that, there was a crispy crust and a divine sauce. The waitress was nice and friendly. Here you can enjoy dining both indoors and outdoors.

We were there as a group of 13 people. Had reserved, so were expected. And rarely have we been served so badly: 90 minutes of waiting for the food and then another dish was missing (it came again 20 minutes later), some of the food was cold, special requests were not taken into account, (given the overpriced price for a dish... what a disgrace!) drinks were ordered afterwards were not brought, but billed for, the bill came, albeit from the next table. A disaster! Never again!

Went here spontaneously for dinner today, the reception was quite friendly until we received our order. Unfortunately I had to send the salad back because it didn't seem fresh and I found some rotten lettuce leaves in it. In between a band played Bavarian music which was quite pleasant. Our waiter Ebrima was friendly and courteous and handled our complaints professionally. Unfortunately we met a waitress Linda who said to us: what do you want?!?! .. welcomed. The staff seemed stressed, listless and uncoordinated, simple drink orders sometimes took a long time, no one seemed to feel responsible, shouts and waves were ignored. Our conclusion: you don't have to have it again.

From a culinary point of view, it was my worst experience in a long time. We were in a group of 10+ people and had reserved. Nevertheless, we had to wait over 70m for our food. Many customers who came after us were served faster. When the food came, it was already cold for many people and I have rarely seen so many dissatisfied faces in our group. Sorry Paulaner, but anyone who offers a service like this doesn't deserve a good rating. Only the ambience kept what it promised.

We spent 8 days in Berlin and tried different restaurants. This is the best German food restaurant in Berlin in terms of food quality and client service. Delicious food and friendly waiter and manager. I found a photo of the waiter who helped us this evening and here he is. We highly recommend this restaurant.

After a mixed first experience, I had the opportunity to have lunch again in this restaurant. And what a joy it was, the manager is very friendly and listens to his customers and the servers this day were friendly. The cuisine is good and local, a good opportunity to discover German restaurants on this well-known square in Berlin!

Beer is great, food not so much…. Bad mashed potatos and cabbage… meat was mid

The beer was dull and expensive! The restaurant and toilets were very dirty. The store was only half full and we weren't asked if we wanted to eat for 35 minutes. The cards were extremely sticky and after we went to the toilet we happily skipped eating. This is really just a bad tourist rip-off! Please avoid, there are great alternatives!

Good location at Potsdamer Platz and that is the only good thing I can say about this restaurant. Slow service, overpriced and disappointing food. 15 EUR for a wurst with uneatable french fries is too much.

When we asked if our drinks were on the tablet, the answer came: Are you okay? Then the food came. We still don't have anything to drink...

I only drank something there, didn't eat anything. But the staff is very friendly and accommodating! The ambience is also right. There are several beers on tap - including the Oktoberfest beer. I liked that best! Prices are decent... But the location is also decent! Nice shop!

I love the photos of German food, they are beautiful, it's a shame that when you try it it is completely boring and tasteless in general. This place is certainly no exception. I do not recommend it, but I see from the reviews that I am not the majority. I think that in Germany in general one should look for food from other parts of the world.

Food was OK, but nothing special, unfortunately very expensive and mass-produced. ADDENDUM: The managing director contacted me and wanted to know what we didn't like, that's what I call great service if he takes care of it himself to possibly improve something, hats off!
