The food and the treatment of the staff were very good. Excellent service.

Very quiet place, we had a great dinner and everything was delicious, we ordered the schnitzel with mushroom sauce and beer, large quantity, the price corresponds to what was ordered.

Four of us and a 2 year old girl had dinner there. The food is a bit expensive, but always very good. We had knuckle, cordon bleu and duck as well as a delicious vegetarian curry. The staff is child-friendly and very nice. The atmosphere is made of Biel wood and is very cozy. The beers are delicious.

We stopped by there spontaneously and managed to get a table despite the fact that it was already very full and everything was reserved. We were probably expecting something more rustic, purely in terms of the decor, since this is the oldest restaurant in Hamelin, but it wasn't like that. Everything was quite bright and relatively modern. The furnishings are also a matter of taste. The wait staff was all really nice and even though it was so full, we didn't wait 25 minutes for our food, which was fairly priced and totally sufficient in terms of the portion size. Plus it was super tasty! So we'd love to come back!

We ate here for the 1st of Advent. Half duck with red cabbage and potato dumplings. We enjoyed it very much.

In a nutshell: stop by, feel good, eat well, relax and leave the rat jug feeling refreshed and with a big grin. And if I come to Hameln again, a visit to the Rattenkrug is a must. Ps. Special requests will also be fulfilled whenever possible. 😋

In this restaurant there is a failure in the preparation of a proper roast pork. Unfortunately, we cannot recommend ordering the roast pork. 1. The red cabbage obviously came from a can or a jar. Maybe you can do it... But that was the least of the problems. 2. The dumplings are ready-made (Pfanni) dumplings. Do I sometimes eat at home when I need something quick, but in a restaurant for €17.50? 3. the meat was not tender, came without a crust, tasted warmed up, bland, maybe even a little old, and overall was not edible. 4. The dark beer sauce…. Unfortunately it's also bland and the furry glutamate taste is still on your tongue 2 hours later. For anyone who has ever been to Bavaria and knows the inn culture there, it's actually just disgusting. It's so simple: Prepare a good coleslaw, given the size of the shop, you can easily prepare one or two roast pork freshly... and in the worst case scenario, the roast pork will be “out” at some point. Bread dumplings and potato dumplings can be prepared, they just need to be steeped briefly in the water. The whole thing costs around 15 euros in Munich. Only positive thing: When it comes to roast pork, the quality can only go up. But please no longer be such an outgrowth of system catering. The service was nice.

We can recommend the Paulaner in the rat jug. The food is excellent, the service is friendly and quick. The ambience meets the expectations of a Bavarian restaurant, and the adaptation to historic Hameln is also well done. The furnishings can be described as rustic.

We had knuckle stuffed with sauerkraut and dumplings and cordon bleu stuffed with mountain cheese and bacon, with fries and salad. The knuckle was very crispy, the meat was juicy and tasty. The sauce was good, as was the sauerkraut. The dumplings could have been a little spicier. The cordon bleu was excellent, as were the side dishes. Overall, the portions were very generous. The employees were extremely friendly, courteous and prompt. The atmosphere seems very rustic and cozy. We'll be back.

Very nice restaurant. Very good service. One of the best knuckles I've ever eaten! Quite large, but not very greasy, the crust is just perfect, super crispy, the meat is very tender and juicy!

Haben hier zwischendurch nur Getränke verkonsumiert. Die angebotenen Speisen welche wir an den Tischen sehen konnten waren üppig und typisch bayrisch. Das Personal war sehr flink und umsichtig, auch wenn wir nur Getränke bestellt haben.

Beautiful location in the heart of the old town of Hamelin. A table was reserved a week in advance for 7 people. Three dogs registered, no problem. 3 hours before we arrived we were called where we would like to eat, inside or outside. It's very, very rare for me to see someone make such an effort. We decided to go outside because the weather was great. The table was reserved and beautifully set. Drinks were picked up and brought quickly. It was the same with the food. The menu is very Bavarian; But that's why we booked a table in this traditional restaurant. After a short wait, the 7 different dishes arrived. Each of us ordered a different dish. Every guest enjoyed it very much. This is also how Bavarian cuisine works in Lower Saxony. The service staff are also very good and love to joke. For all of us it was a very successful visit to the restaurant. The next time we're in Hameln, we'll be happy to visit you again. Stay the way you stay. Delicious food and super nice service

Great food! We ate knuckle and Jägerschnitzel and can totally recommend both. We were particularly impressed by the extremely nice and courteous staff. We'll definitely be back.☺️ If you want a table after 6 p.m. you should just make a reservation otherwise it will be difficult to get something.

An all-round successful evening. Great location, nice service and everyone really enjoyed the food. Will definitely be back on your next visit to Hameln! After we unfortunately broke a glass on a plate that had just been delivered, both the drink and the dish were delivered again... very accommodating, even though it was clearly our "fault".

Leider war der Besuch ziemlich enttäuschend. Ich Frage mich, ob in diesem "Restaurant" überhaupt irgendetwas selbst gemacht wird. Auch geschmacklich war es kein Genuss. Für so ein Tiefkühlessen muss man wirklich nicht ins Restaurant gehen.

The Paulaner im Rattenkrug is one of Hameln's oldest restaurants and impresses with its excellent location and excellent service. The charming ambience transports its guests into a traditional German atmosphere. Although the prices are moderate, the food fell short of expectations in terms of taste and portion size.

The worst roast pork I have ever eaten. Tasteless and anything but fresh. The ready-made dumplings were also completely tasteless. The so-called game (currywurst) with fries (which was definitely not) is also better at every motorway service station. Never again!

Food and drinks are okay. Very nice old half-timbered house, good ambience.

Sitting outside and having a drink was excellent. The pedestrian zone is easy to observe. Guests and service were good.

If possible we would have liked to give it six stars. This evening we had a very tasty three-course meal here. The service was super warm, funny and attentive. Special requests due to intolerances were taken into account without any problems. The atmosphere is cozy and inviting. At the end there was a rat killer. Absolutely recommended!

July 18, 2024 Time for a refreshing “summer drink” at above-average temperatures. Paulaner is the right place for you. Today there was a cool, non-alcoholic cask soda with the illustrious name “Himmelspforte”. Highly recommended, as is the food!

Food was okay! When it comes to operations, you have to make a clear distinction: One lady didn't really understand our language - the other two ladies could accept our wishes without any problems!!

We were there for the first time today and only had one drink because of the temperatures. Potsdam “with heaven’s gate” . Really tasty and refreshing. When you browsed through the menu, you naturally noticed the delicious dishes that you will definitely try. Very pleasant atmosphere and nice service. We'll be back.

Food (ribs with potato wedges and coleslaw) was very tasty. Dessert (Kaiserschmarrn) was also great. Very friendly service. Highly recommended.

Unfortunately we didn't particularly like the food. The knuckle was tasty, but the sauerkraut was strangely creamy. Likewise the red cabbage on the roast pork. It's a shame, we were really looking forward to the visit. The service was absolutely fantastic.

We went there for dinner with a large group. Unfortunately very disappointing. The potato salad advertised was not Bavarian and the meatloaf was of discount quality. Too bad Service was great!

Wir waren mit 6 Personen dort. Die Bedienung war freundlich, witzig, später auch direkt. Mit sehr vielen Metallringen im Gesicht....muss man mögen. Das Bier war prima. Das Essen war sehr schlecht: Die Haxe war zäh und nicht wie versprochen kross. Die Cordon Bleus waren nicht lange genug gebraten, daher innen tw. roh. Der Kaiserschmarren war Fertigware und nicht schmackhaft. Fazit: Bedienung gut. Dem Koch muss mal gesagt werden, dass man es besser machen kann.

First of all: The food is good, not too expensive and the waitresses are friendly. However, we had to wait quite a long time until someone came to our table, even though there were three service employees inside the restaurant with no apparent job. In addition, it took a very long time until the food was served, although it was requested. I felt like I had to constantly push the employees. There was also no paper in the toilet. I was at Alex in Kassel the day before and had excellent service. From the looks of it, there were a lot of regular guests there. In Hamelin, with its walk-in tourist customers, you don't have to pay much attention to it because people usually only come once.

We ate here on the Pentecost weekend. It was really great, the food, the service and the ambience. A big thank you again to the waitress “Maus” who was there to have fun and also a big thank you for the onion and garlic. It was really tasty

Had dinner there in the evening. Our young waitress was incredibly friendly and in a good mood. Super friendly 👍🏻👍🏻👍🏻 The food was also great. Delicious sauce for currywurst. The schnitzel with asparagus was also super tender, the asparagus was crisp and properly peeled with a delicious hollondaise. I can only recommend it. 😊

It was our first time at the Rattenkrug. We got a voucher last year and went there for that reason. The food wasn't good except for the fries, despite the small menu!!! I had schnitzel with mushroom cream sauce. Unfortunately, it tasted like a gravy, it had nothing to do with cream. :( The waitresses were nice but the service left a lot to be desired. The atmosphere was cozy. But we won't be going there again.

Friendly and attentive staff. Drinks and food were delivered quickly. However, the quality and quantity of the food was disappointing. The hired poacher was obviously lying lifeless in the undergrowth for a long time and looked appropriately shriveled and withered. The flat sauce and the 10 frozen fries rounded off the disappointment. The ambience is absolutely appropriate.

3 minutes from the central square, they have an assortment of both local and Bavarian food, they treat you wonderfully. We ordered several dishes to share to try a little of everything and we didn't regret any of them. If you pass through Hamelin it is a 100% recommended place

Wir waren mit 6 Pärchen dort und hatten schon zu Hause einen Tisch bestellt. Leider war dann die Hälfte der auf der Speisekarte befindlichen Speisen nicht zu bekommen. Dadurch war die Auswahl sehr eingeschränkt. Als wir unseren Unmut äußerten bekamen wir zur Antwort, das wir ja das Essen hätten vorbestellen können. Dieses war aber nicht auf der Homepage erkenntlich und wurde auch nicht bei der Tischbestellung erwähnt.

We were invited to dinner with 4 people yesterday. The little blonde lady in service; very accommodating, very friendly and quick. Drinks came quickly. The food was also very tasty, juicy knuckle, the cordon bleu was really a good combination. Praise to the chef. Unfortunately, when our waitress asked, we no longer had room for dessert. We found the boss to be annoying, even annoying, as she almost forced us to eat something else. Yesterday we were in the rat jug for the second time. Last year there was a super delicious Wiener Schnitzel, just as it should be. Unfortunately this has now disappeared from the map. So I had to eat something different. There were four of us and we got a table without any problems, even without making a reservation. So I had a Jägerschnitzel, my wife had an Alpen Cordon Bleu and our friends had knuckle and the burger. For dessert there was a large Kaiserschmarrn. Everything was damn tasty and plentiful too. The price is okay, service is nice and friendly.

Apple strudel with coffee was fine. The restaurant was full, there was knuckle at the next table, it looked delicious, I'll try it too😋.

The duck is not recommended. 26€ and the skin was absolutely wobbly Plus 2 mini dumplings. I wasn't full and it didn't taste good

I ate a Jägerschnitzel with fries where I had the feeling that everything had come from a deep fryer.

Das erste und das letzte mal waren wir dort. Die halbe Ente für 26,- bestand aus 3 trockenen Stücken, die weder als Brust noch Keule definierbar war. Der durchaus freundliche Kellner meinte , dafür waren es 2 Bruststücke, für mich waren das Reststücke.. . die schon einige Male aufgewärmt waren. Das Gemüsecurry meiner Frau, war eine Suppe mit Reis. 3,30 für eine kleine Flasche stilles Wasser ist aus meiner Sicht auch grenzwertig……

Sehr gutes Essen zu einem super Preis. Das Personal ist sehr freundlich. Der gesamte Service ist sehr gut Es war ein schöner Abend .

Very tasty food and one of the few places where you can drink Paulaner Salvator in moderation. Absolutely satisfied, no complaints.

The atmosphere is rustic and hearty. The service was very friendly. Coloring books and pens were brought directly to the table for the children. The food came very quickly after we ordered. On the one hand, you're happy when it's done quickly, but I wonder how quickly you can fry the Cordon Blue so that you can bring it to the table after what feels like 10 minutes. The food itself was good. The Alm Cordon Blue was filled with mountain cheese and tasty, raw ham and the meat was juicy. Croquettes and side salad were also delicious. The game goulash was very tasty. However, there were far more mushrooms than game meat. There were only 4 small pieces of meat on the plate. The red cabbage was deliciously seasoned. I think the spaetzle wasn't homemade. But I don't think that's too bad. In general I found it to be quite expensive in terms of price.

Eigentlich wollten wir gestern nach dem Weihnachtsmarkt in Hameln den Abend bei einem guten Essen ausklingen lassen. Wir wurden freundlich begrüßt und hatten Glück einen freien Tisch für 4 Personen zu bekommen sowie auch die Speisekarte. Leider wurden wir danach fast eine halbe Stunde komplett durch die Servicekraft ignoriert, trotz mehrerer Versuche auf uns aufmerksam zu machen. Wir haben es deshalb vorgezogen zu gehen.

Absolut großartig! Die Gerichte sind immer lecker, aber mein Favorit ist die Haxe. Klare Weiterempfehlung für Freunde, gut bürgerlicher Küche. Die Karte ist klar bayrisch, aber das erwartet man auch bei einem "Paulaner". Der Service ist sehr freundlich und aufmerksam. Wir kommen bestimmt wieder.

Tolles Essen, Personal top. Aber eine Veränderung in der Kneipe sollte mal geändert werden ( es muss ja nicht alles geändert werden)

Überarbeitete Rezension: Wir sind wieder eingekehrt und nach unser vorigen Bewertung waren Verbesserungen zur Jägersauce deutlich sichtbar und auch zu schmecken. Absolut erstklassige Pilzsauce und das Hirschragout eine wahre Gaumenfreude, so zartes Fleisch und eine explosive Sauce, Chapeau! Als wir dann den Koch sahen (tätowierte Arme war uns klar wer da kocht, man kennt Ihn und seine Küche). Auch die Haxe unser Begleitung, ein wahrer Gaumenschmaus. Auch der Service von der kleinen blonden Bayerin war herzerwärmend und sehr zuvorkommend. Wir werden sehr gerne wieder einkehren. Grüße.

Immer wenn wir in Hameln sind,ein absolutes Muss. Super Service und das Essen auch der absolute Hammer. Immer wieder gern.
