I had a long conversation with the boss. A great idea, well-executed. Dogs are welcome. Water and treats are provided.

We visited the nicely decorated cultural salon with several friends over the weekend. Unusual: Even with the menu, guests were instructed on how to behave. Before we could place our orders, we witnessed an argument at the neighboring table, whereupon the guests left the restaurant. Our attempt to order an aperitif first, then the desired wine, earned us strange comments from the (head) waiter, who seemed visibly overworked. The chosen meal was okay, albeit not a culinary delight. The situation escalated when paying. The request for a receipt seemed to enrage the gentleman. A friendly reminder that an item was incorrect was met with extremely unfriendly comments, even an obscene gesture. A factual conversation was impossible. Oh yes, as beautiful as a nicely decorated church space is, many guests create a lot of noise. Conversations across the table were therefore rather difficult. If you take the price-performance ratio into account, I would say: everything is a bit inflated.

Some things took a really long time. Paying with a card was a bit difficult. The staff was a bit overwhelmed with splitting the bill into three equal parts. Thanks to the dessert, I was actually quite full by the end. Only the main course wouldn't have been enough. However, the information about the Kaiserschmarrn containing plum compote is incorrect. A small dessert glass with two plum halves in it doesn't match the description on the menu. The fried potatoes served with the "Winerschnitzel" (small schnitzel) were so small that they were well hidden under the schnitzel.

We were in Limburg last Thursday and visited this restaurant – and it was truly a little experience. As soon as we arrived, it was clear: sitting outside is stunningly beautiful, but the interior also has something very special, with plenty of charm and a cozy atmosphere. Since the weather was wonderful, we managed to get a table outside even though everything was actually fully booked – a big thank you to the team for that. The staff were consistently very friendly and attentive. Shortly after opening, the chef himself even came over, introduced himself, and sat down with us for a moment. You could immediately tell how dedicated and hardworking he is in serving – I have great respect for that, especially in times of staff shortages in the restaurant industry. The food was absolutely spot on: I had salmon with rosemary and vegetables – perfectly prepared and beautifully presented. For dessert, we had a lemon tiramisu and a mascarpone creation with figs – both a real highlight. Even if the service took a little longer, please be understanding – the quality and friendliness more than make up for it. If you're in Limburg, you shouldn't miss this restaurant. It's best to make a reservation in advance and allow some time – it's definitely worth it! I can wholeheartedly recommend it and would gladly return.

A truly remarkable location for a restaurant. We sat outside in the summer garden, which was surrounded by lush greenery and beautifully illuminated, but the interior design of the old chapel was also impressive. Inside, there's also a cozy little bar. The waitstaff, consisting of just two people, had everything under control. They were very friendly, could provide information about the dishes, and even made well-founded recommendations for drinks. This is unfortunately rare, but here it was great. Although the garden was busy, there was no rush. We were informed in the front office that it might take a while, but both the food and drinks arrived promptly. The drinks selection is huge and the menu is manageable – which we appreciated. There's a nice selection of vegan and vegetarian dishes, and of course, classic dishes as well. Everything was beautifully presented, tasted excellent, and the portion sizes were perfect. A thoroughly enjoyable evening. Thanks to the Pastorale team. One of the best restaurants in Limburg. The food is high-quality and delicious, and always meticulously prepared. The service is friendly and authentic, and you feel very welcome. Location: Outside in summer, at long tables in the consecrated church in winter. Food: Good, but overpriced Service: Guests should be patient, as staff are in short supply. We waited half an hour at our table before anyone even acknowledged us, let alone took our drink order. The wrong cream was served with the main course. When I complained, it was vehemently denied. Only the taste test proved I was right. Seriously—why do I even have to discuss something like this? The icing on the cake is yet to come. The menu literally states: "We do everything for your well-being... but even that has its limits..." What is the owner trying to tell me? Does he even understand the meaning of the term service and that, as a guest, I contribute to his salary? I certainly won't be returning to this location. I'll go somewhere where I'm respected and treated decently as a guest. It's interesting how many words the owner needs to justify himself. You're so convinced of yourself that anything negative seems unlikely. Luckily, I have photographic evidence and people who were there with me.

A very special place for dinner. The menu offers a wide variety of delicacies from different countries and regions. From Obatzter (traditional Austrian cheese) to summer rolls, everything tasted delicious. The server was very attentive and friendly. It was a lovely evening with delicious food and a great atmosphere.

Dear Pastorale, First of all: The food, as well as the location and the service from the staff, was truly outstanding. I have to back up a bit for my review: About a year ago, I wrote to the owner to give my parents a gift voucher. The owner was very accommodating and even dropped the voucher directly in my mailbox. When we were there on Saturday, July 19, 2025, to celebrate my parents' departure from Limburg, we were very pleasantly surprised by the ambiance and the location. We were also immediately informed that it would take a little longer due to a lack of staff. It also took a while before we could place our orders, which was largely due to the fact that only the owner took the orders and later collected the money, which I personally didn't understand. The two servers were very accommodating and friendly. Apologies were also often offered for the long waits, although I personally have to say that this isn't a problem for me, as you sometimes have to wait a bit for good food (even considering the staff shortage). The food was excellent, and accordingly, the price was right. I've seen a few reviews criticizing the price, which I disagree with, as I found it very reasonable for the quality of the food. Returning to the service (excluding the two employees), I'd like to address a few points of criticism: The owner came across as very stressed and seemed to have little enthusiasm. Regarding the staff shortage, this is perhaps understandable, but I still think appearances should be kept up. As I said, I can understand the long waits for the food due to the staff shortage, but we had to wait almost 30 minutes to pay, 20 of which the owner spent talking to the other table. If the other service staff had been authorized to collect or accept orders, there might not have been such long waits. Based on the other reviews, I would like to add that this is merely constructive criticism (hence the 5 stars), and I simply hope that this criticism is accepted and, if necessary, something can be improved. I have to say that in the other reviews, I had the feeling that any kind of criticism was not accepted but challenged, and that the restaurant always relied on the good reviews. As I said, I can understand the good reviews, but there are always points of criticism, and I think one should accept them and implement them for the benefit of the guests, rather than feel personally attacked. I wrote this review with the main focus on the owner's response to criticism. Therefore, once again: This is not a personal attack, but merely constructive criticism from the guest's perspective. We went there for the third time. The owner's first comment, as always, was that he didn't have enough staff. A completely unreasonable manager who doesn't know how to delegate. He treats his customers like supplicants. His employees are only allowed to bring the food and drinks to the table. When we ordered another beer, he replied that they still had something in their glass. We paid €480 plus a €40 tip. Then we had to listen to him tell us that he would have to close the place soon because of customers like us and our criticism. Once again, we waited two hours for our food. A really great atmosphere with good food, but unfortunately, complete mismanagement. No apology or compensation for these prices and these tips. That was the last time we went to Pastorale!!!

A member of staff rudely interrupted me while I was asking if I could reserve a table, saying, "No, absolutely not," even though I couldn't even specify the desired day and time. I will refrain from visiting. Edit: The owner's response is remarkable. Referring to Schopenhauer and threatening legal action because of a first name, he is demanding that my review be deleted. It's the tone that counts, sir: If your staff member had responded more cordially, my criticism probably wouldn't have been forthcoming. And if your response had sounded less like a legal dispute than like hospitality, a visit and the amendment of this review might have been conceivable. I've removed the name out of respect for your privacy—not out of fear of your legal zeal, but in the hope of a more harmonious tone in your establishment. Allow me a book recommendation in the spirit of your literary inclination: Read Castiglione's "The Courtier," a classic guide to decency and charm that may be more useful to your team than Schopenhauer's The Art of Debating.

A magnificent building, which from the outside already creates a sense of excitement about what awaits you inside. Inside, expectations are met with a similar surprise. A very pleasant atmosphere with great furnishings and a variety of seating options. Very friendly service that leaves no wish unfulfilled, including a dedicated feel-good manager. A huge selection of drinks awaits guests: great wines, local beer, etc. Only Erdinger Weizen beer spoils my mood. The food is also excellent and highly recommended, whether it's an appetizer, main course, or dessert (I'd love to try the Kaiserschmarrn next time). We'll definitely be back. Also recommended for an evening drink or a visit to the wonderful outdoor area.

Although I've lived in Limburg for just over a year, I hadn't heard of "Pastorale" until now. My best friend surprised me with a great location for our girlfriends' night in her own city. Being greeted by cool bar music outside is something special. The concept, the idea: unique. You sit – a colorful mix – at one of the four long tables. You can strike up a conversation with your tablemates, but you don't have to. The host: outstanding. Witty, whimsical, with a great sense of humor. You feel warmly welcomed from the very first second. The service reflects this. Striking (and seemingly from another era): The service here is done with white gloves. The food was creative, but I personally felt it lacked a bit of refinement. The boulliabaisse (where do you find that on a menu these days?!) was, unfortunately, a better vegetable soup with garnish. I was missing the base of fish stock with a corresponding garnish and toasted bread (served with it) with rouille. For the main course, we had green asparagus with veal fillet, which was admittedly a veal loin. The taste was perfectly fine, though. I had to pass on dessert, but I did indulge in my friend's very fruity lemon tiramisu. Good wine selection. All in all, a wonderful evening in a unique setting. And now that I know what and where the Pastorale is, I'd be happy to come back. Also to try the lovely beer garden. An exceptional gem in Limburg.

Six of us went for dinner, and everyone enjoyed it. We were very pleased with the service, very attentive. Only sitting at the long tables with strangers was reminiscent of a gymnasium. Therefore, one star deducted. It's definitely more comfortable to sit in the booths, or outside in the summer. But that's just complaining at a high level 😉 We'll be back

This restaurant is definitely worth a visit! The location itself is very unique. Who can say they've had a three-course meal in a church? Probably very few. And the food was truly very good. The seasonally changing cuisine speaks for quality, and that's exactly what you get here. From appetizer to dessert, we weren't disappointed. If we're ever in Limburg again, we'll definitely stop by here again. Definitely worth a visit!

We visited Limburg at Easter and were guests at the Pastorale twice in a row! This is precisely because we were so excited on the first evening that we immediately returned with our friends on the second evening and were able to repeat the experience straight away. Many thanks to Mario and his team, who make this location a very special place, not just because of the great food and drinks. Unfortunately we live too far away, otherwise we would be guests more often. The Pastorale is definitely a restaurant with heart and character. We had an unforgettable evening at Pastorale in Limburg! As soon as we entered the restaurant, we were impressed by the extraordinary and at the same time cozy atmosphere. The guests who have been invited in advance are welcomed by the concierge with white gloves (!) and the coat check is accepted. That in advance, e.g. B. A multi-course menu ordered via email will be served together with the other guests during a parallel musical entertainment with an entertainer. Overall, a very exclusive, entertaining evening, which can only be recommended! The total price of 250 euros paid for two people, including tickets for the show, tip and multi-course menu, as well as drinks, was worth every cent!!!

What a beautiful evening! Great food, unique location, relaxed atmosphere and a friendly host with whom you can easily talk about God, the world and current politics if you want. Everything is very nice. Especially when Toffee, the secret boss of the house, makes the rounds on her four paws. A place to linger - without any fuss. I'll be back, that's for sure.

We recently gave it 5 stars and wanted to spend another nice evening here. The food was again fresh and great, but that was it! Apparently they didn't save our reservation and then felt like they wanted to have breakfast for us quickly. Our aperitif had just been served and the starter arrived while we were still choosing the wine. When asked about the service, boss and waitress!, the main course came immediately afterwards. We couldn't choose a suitable wine and were finished after 45 minutes from arrival, aperitif, starter and main course. Errors in the invoice, a difference of 35 euros, were corrected after we checked, with the addition: "We'll give out the invoice for that." Unfortunately, the fact that a glass of wine was on the house didn't save the evening. On the contrary, the boss tried to convince us that we had come spontaneously and that there was a lot going on on Saturdays. Unfortunately, we will no longer recommend the restaurant and will definitely not come back. It's a shame about the beautiful location and the good food.

Everything is right here! Great atmosphere, fine, sophisticated food (large vegetarian selection) and good service - warm and pleasantly personal. The long tables are particularly nice; you can easily get into conversation with other guests. Last week we also had sensationally good-humoured table neighbors and we had a lot of fun. A culinary delight in a stylish atmosphere with addictive potential. A must for every gourmet looking for something extravagant. What should be highlighted is continuous quality at an excellent level over the years and time is taken individually for the guests.

Now that 2 months have passed since my visit to the restaurant on Christmas Day until my recession, the anger over this disastrously subterranean food at a menu price of €89 is still with me. The main menu Rehragou was totally overcooked and the 1/2 dumpling was warmed up. I would have better spent the price of €300 for 3 people on a social donation.

New year in the Limburg Pastorale. The cultural salon. Limburg's most beautiful living room in a former cemetery chapel. Around 60 people have gathered here to say goodbye to the old year and welcome the new one in a family atmosphere. Without firecrackers. Dogs are expressly welcome. Yes, there really is a living room atmosphere; I quickly start talking to the people next to me and those sitting across from me. Not for the first time this year. Four hours of program are over far too quickly. Before, between and after the culinary delights, a 3-course menu of your choice, Michelle and Rosé enchanted us. One with her amazing magic tricks, the other with her touching voice. Absolutely worth seeing and listening to. Goosebumps during Rosé's interpretation of Amy Winehouse's 'Back to Black'. Regardless of whether they were meat or fish eaters, vegetarians or vegans, everyone around me was full of praise for the menus. The kitchen with its chef can also do magic and enchant. I eat a purely plant-based diet and was and am enthusiastic about the starter (chestnut soup), the main course (fried cauliflower, almond slivers, pomegranate, falafel) and the dessert (panna cotta with mango and raspberry sauce). Many thanks to our host Mario M. Bottletraeger and his team, who hosted us in a friendly and attentive manner in Limburg's most beautiful living room. Here we enjoyed a delicious Christmas menu. You could choose between 3 different starters, main courses and desserts in advance. Everything was attractively prepared and of excellent quality. The selection of open wines was also great. The atmosphere in the former church is something very special. The table arrangement is also unusual. People sit at long tables. Ultimately, we found this to be much less disruptive than we feared. The room has great acoustics and so you could still have a conversation without being disturbed.

The ambience in a former church is very nice. Well heated in winter, lighting and furnishings very appropriate. The service was very attentive. The food, for us a three-course menu was average, unfortunately the price/performance ratio is good in my opinion Not for the quality and preparation/presentation. It can be done once, but for us it doesn't scream repeating.

And now for the highlight, the food. It was, simply put, a dream. The dishes were imaginatively prepared and all the ingredients complemented each other perfectly in terms of taste. Just try it out for yourself and then maybe you can understand our enthusiasm! Everything was right! The evening with my brothers and partners was simply great! Thanks! We'd love to come back!

Wie soll man eigentlich eine Bewertung für die Pastorale in Limburg schreiben, ohne wegen der dafür erforderlichen Superlativen den Eindruck der Übertreibungen aufkommen zu lassen. Einfach selbst ausprobieren und möglicher Weise unsere Begeisterung nachvollziehen können! Alles stimmte! Der Abend mit den Brüdern und Partnerinnen war einfach toll! Danke! Wir kommen gerne wieder!

We (3 friends) had a wonderful evening at PASTORALE.✅ Starting with a large, free selection of parking spaces and great lighting around the “church”. There is space for 60 people inside and 120 outside. We were warmly welcomed and our drinks and food (sushi, sweet potatoes, salmon, pinsa, chocolate cake) arrived quickly. Everything was A1 - the portions were perfect in my opinion. A friend was allowed to play the piano, which made the atmosphere even nicer and the other guests were also very happy about the musical accompaniment. We can clearly recommend the PASTORALE and would be happy to come back.👋🏽
