I can only recommend this restaurant

Food was very good, service was friendly, but it was extremely loud. You can hardly have a conversation. We were there on a Saturday at 6pm.

Super attentive & very nice staff. The restaurant is always full and yet you can get the drinks and food you ordered super quickly. Everything is freshly prepared. Food and sodas/cocktails are nicely presented. We always feel very welcome! The taste of the food was really top notch. Prices totally justified. Keep it up! You have won us as regular customers :)!

Not what it used to be! Salmon no longer tastes fresh at all. The seaweed salad tastes like dish soap. Ginger is starting. The tempura rolls taste like old fat. Unfortunately it is no longer our number 1 restaurant in Xanten. Fell in twice. You have lost an incredible amount of quality.

Das Papa Mi Restaurant in Xanten ist für mich als Xantenerin das beste Restaurant vor Ort und ein Muss für Gäste - hier gibt es herrliche Gerichte, superfein abgeschmeckt. Am leckersten finde ich die Gerichte in Mangosauce (wahlweise Ente, Huhn, Lachs oder Scampi). Die natürliche Süße der Mango intensiviert den Geschmack. Gäste von außerhalb müssen aufpassen, nicht im falschen Papa Mi zu landen, da es einen gleichnamigen Imbiss (!) in Marktnähe gibt, den ich persönlich gar nicht mag - das Papa Mi-Restaurant liegt in der zweiten Reihe hinter dem Markt in der Hühnerstraße. Unbedingt einen Tisch reservieren, die Nachfrage ist riesig.

Even though we had a reservation, we had to wait for our seats, so why were we able to reserve? But well happened. After sitting for almost 20 minutes, we were finally able to order our drinks and then 30 minutes later our food, which took over an hour. All in all we waited almost 90 minutes for the food, which in the end was okay. Other guests around us simply left because they weren't served. Strong. If you want to go out for a nice meal in Xanten, you should either go somewhere else or plan half a day,

Unfortunately, I cannot share the positive impressions of the previous speakers here. First of all, we're not looking for a fly in the ointment here, we're just giving our impression of the evening. We know Papa Mi from another city, so we decided to visit this location in advance of the Christmas Circus in Xanten. Table was booked for 5:00 p.m., service came quite quickly, food/drink order was placed for three people... Wait. After asking again, drinks came after just over 20 minutes. At around 5:30 p.m. we could see our daughter's dish being placed next to the counter. It stayed there until around 6 p.m. and was then served along with our dishes. It is probably unnecessary to point out at this point that the food was already cold. The waitress pointed out that the food was returned. About 5 minutes later the dish was served again for our daughter... The fries had obviously been reheated in the deep fryer, as had the chicken. The fries were rock hard and could be broken in the middle with your finger like dry twigs. We politely rejected this dish too and, considering the time had passed, asked for the bill. Our conclusion: Maybe we had a bad day, but certain standards are unavoidable when visiting a restaurant, so we will not visit this location a second time.

We were in Xanten for a weekend, visited the beautiful Christmas market and thank God we had a reservation at Papa Mi, which was also very good because the restaurant was bursting at the seams (Saturday evening). Nevertheless, we still got a place. All service staff, very, very friendly. The cocktails were very good. Mixed The food came quickly too. We actually had the idea of ​​eating sushi, but then preferred two Asian dishes. The portions are very large and fill you up. We even had some of the food packed for us. However, I have 2 points of criticism: The sauces could be a little thicker. Had more of the consistency of soup and maybe took two tables out of the restaurant as you sit close together. It would make it more comfortable and you would also consume 1 or 2 more drinks. Otherwise fully recommended. When we're together again, we'll definitely come back to Papa Mi.

Since we were here at the Christmas market in Xanten today, we decided to have something to eat here. Everything was right, from the ambience to the service and also the food, everything was very harmonious. And absolutely fair in terms of price. We would come here again at any time if we end up in Xanten.

Super delicious Vietnamese-Japanese cuisine. We had gyoza and a Thai coconut soup as a starter and sushi as a main course, it was super tasty and filling. The service was very friendly and attentive. Of course more expensive than the sushi man around the corner, but quality has its price 😊👌

As always, only personal taste is expressed below. Opinions are divided when it comes to sushi. The traditionalists will miss the clear shapes and taste of Japanese sushi culture here. Instead, you get opulently draped plates with non-edible decorations, which are more oriented towards American sushi culture. Creamy! The fish was of good quality, but the ginger had nothing to do with the Japanese original. Baked wonton was crispy and fat-free. Recommendation. Unfortunately there were significant communication problems with the service. You should know your map and be able to explain it. In the best case scenario, being able to make recommendations will delight the guest and possibly increase sales. The essentially interesting interior design and ambience was spoiled by the usual fans and plastic flowers of the Chinese-Vietnamese style. Too bad. But you can do it. Also a matter of taste. Due to the lack of comparison offers, one can say with confidence: Papa Mi is the best Asian restaurant in the area. You can eat there! Only top-class restaurants with the best performance should receive 5 stars. I therefore give it a satisfactory rating in the midfield.

Chance find. During a tour of the historic city center of Xanten and the many crowded ice cream cafes, we were looking for a delicious restaurant. The two restaurants in the center of the market were crowded and expensive. So we ran after a few parasols and found PapaMi, which according to Google reviews had the best reviews and despite the deceptively boring impression of the outside facade, we went to the back of the restaurant and were pleasantly surprised. Well-kept, attractive furnishings, discreetly lit and decorated. Diverse menu and funny chef, unfortunately one dish came with the wrong meat, but since it was fresh, juicy and tasty, we refrained from complaining about it. Fair price-performance ratio and better than you would expect from a fast food restaurant. If we are in Xanten again, we would like to come back. Thanks

The very friendly staff took us to a free table at our request. Everyone tried very hard, the drinks we ordered were brought to us immediately and the food, which was exceptional for us, came quickly. While we were eating we were asked if everything was OK. I could see that the other faces were also happy and the food obviously tasted very good. We were very satisfied with the overall performance of the restaurant.

Das Essen ist recht gut. Sehr gut frequentiert. Gelddruckmaschine. Nur Barzahlung. Was sagt das? Heute hatte ich einmal etwas auszusetzen. Sehr gutes Essen allerdings war der Salat ohne Sosse… ohne Dressing. Die Nette hat nicht verstanden was ich meinte. Schade. Sie muss mal in der Küche was sagen. Warten wir mal ab.

Wir waren mit vier Personen im Restaurant. Das Personal kam sofort auf uns zu und wir bekamen einen schönen Tisch. Das Restaurant war sehr gut besucht. Die Getränkebestellung wurde zügig aufgenommen. Die Vorspeisen (Garnelen, WAN Tan, Satespiesse und Algensalat) waren sehr lecker. Die Hauptgerichte (Reisbandnudelsat mit krosser Ente, Reisnudeln mit Hähnchen oder Rindfleisch) waren super. Wir werden wiederkommen.

The sushi dishes are very varied and delicious. Everything is freshly prepared and tastes very good. When eating on site, everything seems a bit squashed and loud because it's an open room concept. Personally, I prefer eating at home because people want to be able to understand you when you're talking. Ordering online is quick and easy, and collection can usually take place within 20-40 minutes. Unfortunately, I have now increasingly had the experience of still having to wait. This is usually only 5-10 minutes, but sometimes 25 more minutes. Now I just arrive 10 minutes later than stated and then it always works out. Only cash payment is possible on site - no card payment! If you know it, it's okay, but it should still be possible to pay by card in 2024. If you pick it up instead of delivering it, you will receive a 10% voucher for the next time. I think it's very good too. If you want to eat good sushi and don't mind the points listed, you'll find what you're looking for here.

Unhygienic, hardly any knowledge of German, I ordered fries and got pasta. When I pointed out the mistake, the pasta was put back and sold, and I still had pasta on my plate because the same plate was used. Then I was charged extra money for their mistake. I said exactly what I wanted, got the wrong food due to a mistake on the part of the house and then had to pay extra?! In addition, the staff was very rude the whole time and had little knowledge of German, which made communicating very difficult.

Attentive service, very fast service, excellent food. After a nice greeting and "Thank you, I'll take the table here, and can I also order a large beer?" I had barely sat down and started digging my reading glasses out of my backpack - when a friendly half liter of Warsteiner smiled at me. I chose the tempura sushi roll with tuna, avocado and cream cheese as a starter and chicken in peanut sauce as my main course. After a very short wait (the restaurant was full and the kitchen was definitely not bored) the tempura roll arrived. Delicious! Just the right mix of crispy, warm shell and soft tuna sushi. Absolutely recommended! The main course was a very generous portion of grilled chicken breast with vegetables and rice in a coconut milk sauce with peanuts. There is also a salad on the same plate. It was all very tasty, but I would have liked it to taste a little more intensely like peanuts. Now I'm not even sure if there were whole peanuts in the sauce or just peanut butter. The service was attentive the whole time and asked if everything was OK ("Yes, thank you") or if I would like another beer ("Oh, yes, I'd love to"). Bring cash as card payments are not possible. If I want to eat there with more than two people, I would definitely make a reservation in advance. Well, it was Easter Monday, but the restaurant was always more than half full. Thanks for the nice evening.

We were in the restaurant for the first time today. We were very satisfied with the food. We weren't familiar with the fried onions in the summer rolls, but we really enjoyed them. The curry was also very spicy and the beef was of good quality. Unfortunately there was an error in the billing and a drink was billed twice. That was very annoying! We were not offered an invoice when we paid, so we only realized afterwards that we had paid too much money by doing our own calculations. We didn't get any money back. We were only offered a cash refund (but we were already on the way) and a voucher, which we probably won't be able to use due to the distance. I don't think it's serious that the overpaid money isn't paid back to the customer via Paypal or bank transfer. In general, the prices are higher than in similar Vietnamese restaurants. In addition, you can only pay in cash in the restaurant. I find that very unusual and impractical these days.
