Osteria N°1 in Berlin

First of all: I'd love to come back. A friendly welcome, a little bit of Italy. The menu offers a lot of variety, but unfortunately, there's not much vegetarian. I had bruschetta with grilled vegetables and pasta with capers, anchovies, and tomatoes. Very tasty, a generous portion – perfect. It makes me curious to try other dishes. I'd love to come back.

Friendly service, with a great atmosphere and a beautiful garden. Delicious food! I recommend the saltimbocca followed by the best tiramisu!

We visited the Osteria for the first time in a while, and it was absolutely wonderful! We had a lovely table in the beautiful garden, which made you feel like you were on vacation. And even though we were a large group, the food came quickly and was excellent! The service was super attentive and friendly. Thank you for a lovely and relaxing evening!

Unfortunately, I was very disappointed with my visit to this restaurant. The food completely failed to meet my expectations; it was bland in flavor and poorly prepared. When I politely tried to express my feedback in person, I was surprisingly rudely advised to please leave my complaint online rather than in person. For me, this is a clear sign of poor customer service and a lack of willingness to provide direct feedback. It's a real shame; I've rarely experienced something like this in a restaurant.

I know the restaurant very well, and the food and service always pleasantly surprise me! Salvatore, in particular, was extremely friendly and accommodating. We felt very well looked after, and the atmosphere was simply wonderful.

We ate pizza at Osteria N°1 for the first time today and had a wonderful evening! The pizza was delicious, and the service was excellent! Our dog was immediately offered water and treated very kindly, even though he was in the way at times. We'll definitely be back!

I remember the Osteria from its beginnings in the 1980s. It's a small restaurant with red and white checked tablecloths. I was there again recently. Super friendly staff and authentic Italian cuisine. It's great that it's still there!

DO NOT EAT HERE. I ordered spaghetti marinara with pecorino. They gave me linguini with mussels on top. I'm a vegetarian, I don't eat meat or fish, but I was hungry and moved things aside. I also had two glasses of wine, a large bottle of Pellegrino. When I told the waiter they had served my pasta incorrectly, he said, "We'll give you any dessert for free." The bill came to €44. Wine = €16, Pellegrino €5, and the incorrect pasta €15. Dessert was supposed to be €0. Pure theft, I'll never go back, real crooks.

The garden is a brilliant place. Green oasis of peace in the middle of Berlin. Wonderful authentic food. The parmigana was great. And the service is attentive, personal...what more could you want.

Die Osteria war früher mal eine Institution. Leider ist aus der Zeit nichts mehr übrig. Seit dem letzten Betreiberwechsel (Anfang 2024?) ist es wirklich deprimierend: Der Garten wird zunehmenmd überladen und verschandelt, kein Flair mehr, das Essen ist von kaum mittelmäßiger Qualität, zum Teil richtig schlecht (Calzone angebrannt, Belag der Pizza Vegetariana alt ...), die Preise aber nach wie vor hoch, der Service zum Teil unterirdisch. Ich verstehe, dass es schwierig ist, gutes Personal für Küche und Service zu finden, aber ich werde dort nicht mehr mit Freunden und Familie hingehen - es macht einfach keinen Spaß und man fühlt sich nicht willkommen. Unser Erlebnis in dieser Woche hat nun das Fass zum Überlaufen gebracht mit einem Service zwischen unfreundlich, aggressiv und arrogant, obwohl insgesamt nur drei Tische besetzt waren...

Delicious bruschetta with tomato and bruschetta with grilled vegetables as a starter. Nice glass of white wine (€9.50, not cheap for a glass of wine, but the glass was very full). Pizza capriosa was delicious with fresh vegetables and tasty ham. Friendly and cheerful gentleman in the service who serves the orders in Italian, which makes you feel a bit like you are in Italy.

Wir hatten für 19 Uhr einen Tisch reserviert. Wir sind um 18:50 eingetroffen. Ich stand am Tresen und meldete mich gleich beim Namen und zeitge, welchen Tisch ich im Vorfeld reservierte. Der überaus hektische und (wie ich später feststellen würde) ventilierenden Kellner führt uns zum Tisch und sagte mir gleich (um mich auf Betriebstemperatur zu stimmen): "Wir sind hier nicht im Flugzeug". Als Gastronomiekritikerin wusste ich zu dem Zeitpunkt schon: der Abend wird wieder berlinerisch. Bereits ein Jahr davor, auch an dem Feiertag zum Internationalen Frauen habe ich dort gegeben. Damals war der Laden halb so voll aber denoch, wurde eine Bestellung vergessen, sodass wir extra warten musste. Ich beschäftige mich schon länger mit der italienischen Essensmentalität und weißt, dass es bedarf auch Zeit zwischen den Mahlzeiten, aber das knappe Team von Osteria hat es restlos übertrieben. Beim vollen Haus am Samstagabend gab es nur 3 Bedienungen: 1. Der nette Mann hinterm Tresen, der ALLEIN für alle Cocktails und Getränke zuständig war 2. Die Kellnerin, die allerhand zu tun hatte Erst um 19:15 (also fast einer halben Stunde nach Ankunft am Tisch) erhielten wir die Menükarten. Davor Mineralwasser, womöglich, damit man nicht aufstehen und gehen kann. Nachdem wir uns über die Vorspeisen im Klaren waren, fing das Abenteuer erst recht an. Der für uns zuständige Kellner flitze durch den Laden bis ganz hinten in die Küche und zurück, hielt an unseren Nebentisch in einer 4-er Besetzung und hatte dabei Zeit zum Späßchen; immer laut und sich in den Mittelpunkt stellend. Wer schon mal in einem veritablen italienischen Lokal schon gespeist hatte, kennt das so in der dreisten Form nicht. Der Mann hatte eine sehr unangenehme Hektik verbreitet. Nachdem ich mehrfach mit der Hand diskret signalisiert, ich hätte ein Anliegen, wimmelte er dies mit einer Handgeste ab. Dann verschwand er in den vorderen Raum oder ging an den benachbarten Tischen vorbei. Bei dem einen saß ein Mann mit seinem kleinen Sohn. Als der Papa dann bezahlen wollte, wollte der hektische Kellner für alle Anwesendenen eine Bella Figura machen und bot dem Mann eine Grappa und kommandierte laut den Mann hinterm Tresen irgendetwas für den Kleinen anzubieten. Dann fragte er sehr den Jungen im großspurigen Manier: "Naaa, schmeckt's?". Für den Nebentisch rechts von uns hatte er zwischendurch Zeit: Ein bisschen Späßchen und dann die Bemerkung als Seitenhieb: "Ja, ich weiss, ich bin zu langsam...". Während dessen warteten wir geduldig und genervt zugleich auf die Gelegenheit, die Vorspeise zu bestellen. Erst nach guten 45 Minuten Ankunft im Lokal konnten wir die Vorspeise bestellen. Weil der so busy und hektische Kellner nicht zu uns den Weg fand, stand ich auf und fragte den Bar-Men auf italienisch, ob die Bruschetta bei denen eher warm und krokant oder kalt vorbereitet werden. Nach seiner Antwort beschloss ich, doch keine Bruschetta zu bestellen. Die Erinnerung an der Bruschetta ein Jahr davor war nicht gut. Also bestellte ich eine andere Vorspeise. Meine Begleitung bestellte Bruschetta. Als ich dessen Konsistenz beäugte, war ich froh, was anderes als Vorspeise bestellt zu haben. Im hektischen Manier wollte der Kellner wissen, was wir zur Hauptspeise bestellen. Da ich nicht wusste, wie satt ich mit der Vorspeise werde, wollte ich mit der Haupbestellung abwarten. Er reklamierte das Menübüchlein. Ich erwiderte: "Ich behalte es hier". Dann fing er allen Ernstes eine Diskussion an, dass der Laden voll sei und andere Leute das Büchlein bräuchten. Diese Haltung, den Boss gegenüber den Kunden spielen zu wollen (und überhaupt mit dem Kunden in Dispute zu gehen) ist absolut indiskutabel, in der Berliner Gastronomie leider keine Seltenheit. Zu oft arbeiten Menschen in der Gastronomie, die dort ihren Geltungsdrang stillen wollen. Das Ende vom Lied: Ich habe keine Hauptspeise bestellt. Die Betriebstemperatur durch sein Auftritt hat darunter gelitten. Das Ambiente hätte angenehmer sein müssen. Dazwischen Zwischen meiner Vorspeise und das Tiramisu, die uns von der effizienteren Kellnerin gebracht wurde, hatte sich der hektische Kellner einiges erlaubt: Den Barkeeper anzupflaumen (vor allen Gästen) und ein Gast, der von dem hinteren Raum nach vorne kam und etwas reklamiert, was ich akustisch nicht genau verstehen konnte. Direkt vor der Kasse fing der Kellner an, den Gast per Du anzuschreien und hielt ihm vor, sinngemäß, dass der Laden voll war und zeigte dabei sein sehr dünnes Nervenkostüm. Als dieser Gast dann bezahlte und sich verabschiedet, schrie der Kellner hinter: "Tschüss, mein Freund! Bei diesem Kellner sind selbstbewusste Gäste nicht sonderlich willkommen, lieber doch die Füße stillhalten und seine Show sich gefallen lassen oder sogar lustig finden. Ich war dazu weder bereit noch in der Lage. Das Tiramisu Das Gericht der italienischen Götter hatte eine edle Konsistenz, war sehr schön dekoriert, aber der Geschmack war zu aufdringlich, zu penetrant. Ich bin immer sehr froh, wenn ich ein Tiramisu anprobiere, das ganz anders schmeckt als mein Rezept, aber dieses von Osteria ist nicht zu empfehlen. Die Aromen prallen durcheinander in einer sehr penetranten Art. Die Pizza Meine Begleitung bestellte die Pizza mit Schinken und Rucola. Bevor diese kam, ist auch eine gehörige Portion Zeit vergangen. Meine Begleitung hatte so viel Hunger, dass er sich wie Kinder auf Weihnachten freute, als der Korb mit Scheiben Brot auf den Tisch geknallt wurde. Dies in Italien wäre indiskutabel. Dort werden Brotscheiben mit einer Portion Butter und eine Portion Oliven an den Tisch gebracht, als Antipasti, die meisten gehen aufs Haus (gerade bei Familienbetrieben). Meine Begleitung aß und aß die Scheiben hintereinander weg und erntete von mir mitleidige Blicke. Als die Pizza endlich kam, stellte ich fest, der Teig war papiertrocken, die Rucola und Schinken einfach oben drauf geworfen, beide ohne auch nur eine Minute in dem Ofen gewesen zu sein. Manche machen es so; das spart Zeit und Energiekosten, aber als mir die Trockenheit des Teigs ins Auge gestochen war, musste ich erneut Mitleid für meine Tischbegleitung empfinden, wie brav und entschlossen er sich Stück für Stück durch den Teig kämpfte. Am Tisch vor uns saß ein Pärchen aus dem Schwabenland. Alle beide bestellten Pizza und alle beide aßen sie, wie einige den Dönerkebap verschlingen. Spaß gemacht, dies zuschauen zu müssen, machte es nicht. Fazit: Wer in Kreuzberg gerade unterwegs ist, Hunger hat und Schmacht auf italienisches Essen hat, keinen guten Service beansprucht und dem nichts ausmacht, mehr als eine Verhältnismäßigkeit hergibt (auch die bei italienischen Verhältnissen), kann auf dieses Restaurant zugreifen. Wer aber Wert auf einen diskreten, effizienten Service und auf ein Essen mit Prädikaten sollte woanders sein Glück suchen, denn solche Erlebnisse können einen Abend mit oder ohne Jubiläum, mit oder ohne Feiertag unnötigerweise schmälern. Zwei Male war ich bei Osteria. Ein drittes wird es nicht geben.

The two of us waited about 2.5 hours for our food This is an absolute disgrace I've been to the Osteria very often in the past and have never really been disappointed, but today it really wasn't a nice evening and I really don't recommend anyone to eat here.

We spent 2 very pleasant hours in the Osteria, the food was wonderful, the service was very friendly, the wine was excellent. We had a large starter platter and then various pasta dishes, which were served quite quickly. I'm already looking forward to my next visit there

Unfortunately it was overbooked with Christmas parties, very noisy and overheated. The waiters (3) were overwhelmed, the kitchen and the food were only lukewarm and the pizza was tough. It's a shame. Maybe they could have changed that with more staff. The selection for dessert was limited as some of it was already there was out, we waited 2 hours for the main course after ordering.

I'm here 2-3 times a year. Can't complain: summer days in the quiet garden, otherwise inside. Service always friendly. Pizza Napoletana is without mozzarella, but tastes good and fresh! Tapped Krombacher Pilsener. However, please reconsider the concept of disposable paper tablecloths! What a waste production! Thats not contemporary.

I just really like Osteria number one. Great and large garden - it's cool there when it's hot and you can easily survive the occasional shower under the roof. Lots of space inside. The classic Italian food is absolutely solid, and sometimes very good. The prices charged are now absolutely acceptable, even almost cheap. Because others have added significantly more in view of inflation. The service is consistently authentically Italian, a rarity. Overall: A reliable classic that is indispensable. Full recommendation!

Beautiful indoor garden, although a bit old, but has charm. Friendly staff, I was there with guests, 3 different dishes. My pizza tonno was good, a bit soft on the inside, but combined with the edge it evened out. My guests thought the dish was okay, but had had better tasting Italian pasta. Therefore you rating.

A classic of Italian cuisine in Berlin. The daily menu is small but nice, sometimes surprising. The courtyard garden is great in summer, but the pavement at the front is inviting in the evening without rushing traffic.

My partner and I wanted to spend a nice evening in the restaurant. Instead of two main courses, we opted for a bottle of wine and several starters to share, which the older waiter was not happy with. He let us feel his displeasure throughout the evening, slamming the plates on the table and rolling his eyes as he passed by. We felt very uncomfortable and unfortunately we cannot recommend this restaurant…

There is a nice summer garden, which has some kind of natural cooling system, which makes it a good choice during hot days. Though the food is quite pricy and has dissapointed with the taste and the way it was served. I would recommend it only for drinks and bruschetta.

The food and the summer garden are beautiful. Unfortunately the service leaves a lot to be desired. On the first visit we were forgotten and waited 1 hour for our food. Today at the second meal the main course came before the starter. And then we unfortunately discovered that a receipt was stuck to our pizza base. We informed the waitress, but unfortunately received no feedback or compensation.

Simply terrible. Came with the family to celebrate something and almost all of the glasses were dirty with lipstick. One even had a crack. When asked to refill the contents, not only was the water from one glass simply thrown away, but the non-alcoholic beer was also replaced with normal beer. It wasn't that bad, but you have to imagine what this mistake would have caused an alcoholic! Finally, the food: the tuna salad is an absolute disgrace for this price. Just lettuce leaves, three sliced ​​cherry tomatoes, a few slices of celery and the tuna. No onions, no dressing. The pizza drowned in oil and the evening wasn't as nice as it could have been. Please avoid.

The food was good, but there are just a lot of good Italians in Berlin, where everything is just right, food + service + ambience, where the overall picture is right and that's what counts! Service, an unfriendly, snobbish waiter, where you have the feeling that you almost have to apologize for ordering and being served there. SORRY, there is just way too much choice in Berlin, with good food and friendly service, so I don't have to bother with a semolina gram just because of the name of the restaurant. Gone are the days of just having a restaurant in a hip area, with food, at these prices, I can get everything at many restaurants in Berlin!

Very nice waiter.....pasta was really very Aldente but I didn't want to wait another 50 minutes for the food/new food. There was a free glass of wine to wash down the pasta as well as a dessert from the kitchen. It was OK...

The outside area is quiet and nice, the food is basic, but good. But the absolutely horrible service makes the whole experience very unpleasant.

I rarely give bad reviews, but I'll make an exception here. The service was chaotic and overwhelmed. While ordering, the waitress suddenly went to the counter to serve another table. After 5 minutes she came with the orders that had already been placed and then rushed to ask about the orders that had not yet been placed. An extra request (additional cheese on a pizza) was forgotten. When the pizza came, when asked, they said it had cheese on it. He obviously wasn't and wasn't accounted for. Drink orders often came late and sometimes not at all. We were able to place our food order after about an hour, and the food came again at least 45 minutes later (starters and main courses at the same time). The tone of the waitress was inappropriately gruff and hasty. You had the feeling all the time that you were doing something wrong. My pizza was really bad. Dry, lightly topped and had probably waited a long time to be brought to our table. Any cheap frozen pizza would have made me happier in comparison. The salad has also been mentioned by other reviewers: only arugula, a few lost tomatoes, vinegar and oil upon request, no other dressings "in summer". The prices were far too high for the service and quality. I won't eat there again and would advise others not to.

It started with the online reservation, which worked without any problems. The service was very friendly and the white wine recommendation was very good. My buffalo mozzarella with tomatoes tasted delicious and the pasta with summer truffles was the highlight for me. For me, the food and ambience were a complete success. Unfortunately we couldn't sit outside due to the weather, but that's nobody's fault.

The inner garden is nice, but if you want to try proper Italian food, this is definitely not the place. Also the service can be messy and slow. Yesterday we had to wait 50 minutes just for antipasti.

The Osteria from before no longer exists! As a salad, you are offered a green lettuce with about three small tomatoes that have not been stripped of the greens. Not a sophisticated dressing, but simply none at all! The pizzas are cold and taste bland. Only the prices have changed with the times. And the waiter wasn't even interested in our opinion. He seems to be used to not getting a tip and rightly so. This management has definitely seen us for the last time.

The garden is of course very beautiful. We had attentive and friendly service. The wine "Negroamaro" is very drinkable and recommended. Unfortunately, the pizzas were the dullest thing we've seen in a long time. I think the owner has changed here. The cuisine here used to be high quality. I think they still draw on the good reputation of earlier days.

Taken a seat in the courtyard. Despite visual contact with the waiter, no card was brought. Other waiters also didn't bother to bring a menu. After 15 minutes we left disappointed.

Very nice Italian restaurant. We ordered pizza and were very satisfied. Despite being busy, the service was attentive and friendly. Even though we were the last ones at some point, they still made us feel welcome so that we could end our evening in peace.

I have to agree with the many comments about one of the waiters (a slightly older, bald man). I was accompanied by a lady. This gentleman constantly wanted to be involved in our conversations. And flirts with her in the most unpleasant way (in my presence). In addition, this waiter made additional snarky comments about my order. Something like: "pff why don't you drink Coke Zero?" Thoroughly unpleasant. The waiter was talking so loudly and flirting that we couldn't even tell them that a homeless person had just dipped into our food and stolen utensils on the table. Cannot recommend this restaurant. Also really expensive for tiny portions and a long waiting time

Not recommended! When we placed several different orders, the waiter said four times that we no longer had them in stock (e.g. olives). Then a cola was served that was long expired. And at the end a 0.2l wine was served, even though a 0.1l wine was ordered. It can happen, but there is no apology from the restaurant, just the waiter saying he couldn't book it back. This isn't a customer problem, it's a restaurant problem. Overall very disappointing and not recommended. By the way, the food wasn't even mediocre either. Unfortunately, at least one star has to be given, but they don't deserve one! This has to get better.

There is nothing Italian about it, the English menu is written in German. The pizza is quite good, but far from Italian taste

If you are traveling with small children, this place is a dream when the weather is good! The waiters or waitresses may sometimes be stressed because of the rush. In the end everything is right! Delicious food, wonderful ambience. Prices are reasonable, the wine is rather expensive. 2023: Ten of us have been sitting here for 1.5 hours and haven't had anything to eat yet. Ordered pizza, nothing else.

Absolutely 5 stars restaurant! The place improved the kitchen and service in the last few months! Gianni is so attentive and a great waiter. Such a sweet place for coming with friends or your partner! Romantic atmosphere, great music in the background! Perfect to staring at your partner eyes! We tried the food and was espetacular: amazing fish, great salad and yummy rabbit, also drinks and wine such a good selection! Is like being in Italy! I would definitely recommend to my friends and I am coming back soon again! Loved!
