Ong Tao - Vietnamesisches Restaurant & Bar in Frankfurt am Main

We had dumplings as a starter, the vegetarian glass noodles and the curry rice with fried chicken. Since we have a top Vietnamese restaurant near us and the quality of the food there is better, we give it 3 stars

- Rolls: 6/10 We didn't like it very much, the duck was a little dry - Curry: 9/10 We asked the waiter if curry was spicy and he told us no, but for someone who doesn't eat spicy, it was spicy. - Pho: 8/10 I forgot to order it without cilantro, since in the ones I've tried in the past the cilantro comes separately

Food tasted good but was very salty, had pho soup, unfortunately we say there was a cat in the restaurant, which doesn't exactly speak for hygiene. Service nice. Homemade lemonade very good.

We came to the restaurant based on the good reviews, but our visit was a disappointment. After we arrived we were relocated because our table was supposed to be for six people was. A little later, however, the waiter seated two other guests at exactly that table. This situation was incomprehensible and unprofessional. About the dishes: My friend was happy with her meal, but my main course was a disaster. The vegetables were frozen, the meat was lukewarm. After a complaint, only hot broth was poured over it, but the food remained inedible. It tasted like it came from a prepackaged bag and had no flavor whatsoever. I am very disappointed and will not visit this restaurant again.

It's worth repeating... our group missed the toppings on the table for seasoning... we're looking forward to the outdoor area...

Bravo for the authenticity of the setting and for well-mastered Vietnamese cuisine. Bravo also the smile of the employees! It is a very pleasant change of scenery not far from the center of Frankfurt, with a beautiful harmony between traditional wooden furniture, elegant tableware and sophisticated decoration; all well aligned with the flavors found on the plates. In short, a very good discovery for our small group of friends wandering around the area that evening :-)

The food is ok but nothing special, the price is way too high.

The atmosphere is very exotic, the food is very tasty, I love the crispy tofu. The service could be a bit more attentive, otherwise perfect!

My friend's 2 star review was deleted. If you read the comments here, this probably happens more often. How ridiculous when you can't handle criticism. Food is ok, but the approach with bad reviews means that I won't eat here again and won't recommend it to anyone.

Chicken crispy, sauce delicious. Unfortunately, for my taste, the vegetables in the sauce tasted slightly like frozen chestnuts. Otherwise service was on point and food was at the table quickly.

Delicious and fresh. Summer rolls were great. The tea with ginger is also great. A little more spice would be good for the food.

Interesting how you asked google to remove reviews with not so positive experiences, not sure why reviews exist in the first place. Anyway, here is my experience with Ong Tao from my visit 4 months ago and also a few days ago: I left a review sharing what I experienced, and got an email saying my review would be removed due to defamation. What happened to free speech and democracy? Let alone business integrity - instead of addressing issues with your business, you decided to stifle those who want to help you through their feedback. Here is proof of my visit in July to show I didn't just make up a review out of nowhere :)

The store has a really nice atmosphere and the staff was extremely friendly and attentive. However, we were a bit disappointed with the food; we were particularly unconvinced by the number 13. Maybe it just wasn't to our taste. We would still give the restaurant a second chance because the ambience and service were so positive.

wow wat a nice restaurant. We were on an exhibition, staying in a hotel close to this restaurant. Don't expect a fancy restaurant but a nice warm authentic one. The food, fresh and just great, what more can I say. Prices are very reasonable. Service was fast and friendly.

Sweet restaurant. My girls' food was delicious. My soup tasted strange. Since I had never eaten Vietnamese before, I thought it must taste like that. Well, I had something out of it for 2 weeks 🫣

There are a lot of people. I had high expectations. Perhaps my expectations were high, but the food did not suit my taste very well. A quasi-crisis is quite common. The price is also reasonable.

The food at Ong Tao was tasty, with a high selection of vegetarian options, but lacked a bit of spice. The service was very courteous, which made the visit even more enjoyable. The cozy location has potential for improvement, for example through more attractive furnishings. Overall, a nice visit that could be made even better with a few adjustments.

We came here in summer because of the long line waiting. But the food came out very disappointing. It was lovely decorated and they all came out very fast. The taste was not authentic vietnamese. The service was outstanding. It seems to us that the restaurant has not been taken care of for a long time. The garden is full of dust because of decorated rock. If you walk fast, dust will be everywhere.

I love Vietnamese food and have been searching for a great pho since I moved to Frankfurt three years ago. I finally found my spot and will be back! The pho is long simmered and you can taste it. Not to mention the roasted duck curry was the best I’ve ever had, the cocktails were on point and the appetizers super scrumptious. Lastly I came here for my 30th birthday with a group and we were so well taken care of. Thanks for a wonderful night ❤️

The food, service and ambience are really great here. The menu offers a large selection of dishes, also for vegans. There is something for everyone. The prices are absolutely reasonable. I can only recommend coming here.

The duck bamboo shoot vermicelli looked like another customer's leftovers. If you make a mistake, do it again instead of wiping the water away and packing it for the customer like this

Went there a few days ago, ate buns and summer rolls again, unfortunately the quality was very poor compared to previous years, the summer roll was halved and served as two pieces, there was hardly any sauce for the main course, there was a wobbly plate and 50% The plate was covered with coriander. It's a shame I've been going to every Frankfurt trade fair for 10 years, but now I won't be back.

The food is super delicious. Unfortunately the service is very sloppy. The main course is brought if you haven't finished the starter yet. The drinks come after that Starter and then if you want something to drink after the main course, you literally have to beg for it. It was Sunday lunchtime and not very busy. Actually, it's a shame. It's still worth it for the great food.

We ate here on our first night. The setting was lovely outdoors and the menu offered lots in terms of variety although had to use Google Lens to translate the menu. Between us we had the papya salad, pork shitake rolls, duck breast curry, prawn rice dish , wonton soup along with a strawberry rum cocktail. The service was polite and all the portions were of great size and the drink tasted of fresh strawberries. I did find a lot of the sauces very sweet though and not a lot of spice. Still, I recommend this place.

Attentive service, very tasty food and the prices are okay too. The outdoor area is spacious and is shaded by the large trees even without many parasols. We like coming here.

Ong Tao is a good Vietnamese restaurant. The food is really tasty, especially the starters, especially the homemade spring rolls, are a highlight. The prices are perfectly reasonable, at 13-14 EUR for a main course. The cocktails are also well priced. The ambience is okay, but the restaurant is designed for a large number of guests, which unfortunately detracts from the atmosphere. It's nice that you can also sit outside.

Fuimos a una buena comida para terminar nuestro viaje de vacaciones. Seguro decir que nos fuimos deseando no haber ido. Esperamos 25 minutos hasta que tomaron nuestra orden. Los aperitivos tenían un sabor abominable... no pidas los rollitos de primavera o verano a menos que estés ansioso por el sabor de la suciedad. Después de los aperitivos esperamos casi una hora a que llegara nuestra comida. Pedimos Pho y dumplings. Esto no sabía auténtico en absoluto y la carne era de la menor calidad posible... era como comer chicle. No tardamos mucho en terminar porque no comimos más de 1/8 del tazón. Así que pedimos el cheque tres veces y las tres veces no vinieron. Vinimos a las 7 pm y nos fuimos a las 10 💀💀 explicando nuestras preocupaciones pero sonrieron como psicópatas. Por favor, si quieres ahorrar tu dinero NO VENGAS AQUÍ. Daría 5 estrellas si pudiera. El peor restaurante en el que hemos estado.

Delicious food but... - The service staff is not familiar with gluten or gluten-containing foods on their own menu. - On the first visit we were served pork, even though we clearly stated that we don't eat pork! - there was a hair in the food and two small flies on the basil stalk (served as decoration on the food). The food itself is delicious, but unfortunately that sort of thing is an absolute no-go these days.

The food is very tasty and the atmosphere is also very nice. Unfortunately, I always waited a little long for the food, drinks and service, but I can ignore that if the other points are a 10/10.

I waited 30 minutes to order and they canceled my order for no reason.

Unfortunately I can't rate the food because we weren't served. We were definitely seen upon arrival; but not greeted and we were not given a card. After 10 minutes I looked for someone who was approachable and asked if I could be served outside. Apparently yes, we should just look for a place and someone will come right away. After another 5 minutes we left and discovered a great Italian restaurant nearby. 15 minutes of waiting without attention even though the restaurant was only moderately busy and we had reserved... who can afford it 🤷🏼‍♂️

The good-looking, nice male waitress today really fulfilled our every wish. She was always there when we wanted something, always asked in a friendly manner whether everything was OK, so really great, would be happy to come back again with the friendly service.

Super friendly (and attractive) staff, food was ready quickly and super tasty, the price is also very reasonable. Especially in the evening the ambience is very nice with the lanterns outside. 10/10 would go again

An absolute surprise that was visited on a recommendation. Excellent Vietnamese cuisine with fast and friendly service, and an unbeatable price-performance ratio - it's definitely worth the slightly longer journey there.

Yeah disappointing Vietnamese food. One summe roll portion claims to contain 2 rolls but instead came out as 1 roll cut into 4 pieces, one already with the rice paper burst open - how would you think it's acceptable to serve a chunk of a roll that's no longer in a shape of a roll? Bun bo Hue came without any accompanying herbs or bean sprouts. No lime wedges were offered either. I've had better at other Viet restos in the city for the same price. Needless to say I'm not coming back.

We spent a wonderful evening here in a pleasant atmosphere on the colorful, spacious terrace with delicious drinks, great food and very nice people in service. We had two different homemade drinks that were both exceptional and incredibly refreshing (one tamarind and pineapple, one lychee and kalamansi), each vegan summer rolls (great idea with the mango puree!), then two vegan dishes (one a ribbon rice noodle with super fresh vegetables, unfortunately the tamarind didn't come through so well) and a bun bowl, which I could easily order without noodles as a salad bowl if I wanted. It was also great that a bowl of really hot Thai chili was served immediately upon request, thank you very much! Since we work in the catering industry ourselves, we immediately noticed that the friendly young lady and the lovely young man served this huge outdoor area in pairs, always smiling and approachable at any time - even if some things may have taken a little longer, that was our full satisfaction Respect! Thanks for the nice evening and see you soon :)

Unfortunately disappointing visit. The taste of the food was below average and for us it was the worst Vietnamese we've ever had. The papaya salad had hardly any seasoning. The fries at the Bao Burger were cold and the meat wasn't tasty. The BBQ chicken was not served with grilled pineapple as described on the menu, and the chicken was oversalted and tasted warmed up.

I go to Ong Tao Vegan or this restaurant very often.. I am always very satisfied with the freshness, the taste of the food and drinks.. there is also a large vegan selection here.. the portions are large, you will always full and always want to eat more 😁 The waitress with the stylish sunglasses was very friendly and attentive and was able to give me good advice when deciding which dish to choose. The restaurant is beautifully decorated, especially the cranes in the entrance are very inviting and give you the feeling of being in Vietnam. We will always come back! Thank you 💗💗💗

Recommended if you're vegan/vegetarian! They have a variety of different food options for vegetarians and vegans! Nice! However - it is not fully authentic Vietnamese. Therefor minus 1*. Plus point however is the really nice atmosphere at the restaurant. Very well decorated!

Had food to go, so I understand that the food loses quality. Still, it was really mediocre. I have to say that the price is relatively good. But the quality is also so-so. 1. Bun Bo Hue: Broth is okay, but the meat didn't taste that fresh or tasty. Couldn't eat all meat because of that. I also think it's a shame that only beef is included. It would still have to be chả Huế or viet. Add breakfast meat. If you think about it, I would rather go for Pho Bo instead of bbh. 2. Com suon nuong : It was okay. The marinade didn't come out that way, so it tasted a bit bland. It would be nice if there was sauce with it because the meat was a bit dry, just with rice. Tastes very fresh, think good. Salad came with it, but it was a bit brown and not that tasty.

I will not recommend this meal to anyone. The soup I ordered had a terrible smell and a thick layer of fat. The noodle in the soup and the soup broth were totally tasteless. Unfortunately the service was very poor. When asked for recommendations for rice menus, noodle dishes were offered... so total nonsense, very bad experience.

My Visa card was charged twice and I am still working on it.

Despite hearing some negative opinions from my friend group, one of my friends still took me to the restaurant, and I was pleasantly surprised. The food was very good, with amazingly grilled and tender meat. The weather was nice, so we sat in the front garden, which was so pretty. It's a beautiful location for a night date with the lanterns adding a charming touch.

The restaurant is definitely worth a visit, we really liked it. You can sit very nicely in the garden. All dishes (starter, main course and dessert) were delicious. We liked Pho #16 the best. The service was very attentive. Price/performance is right here. From 6:30 p.m. the restaurant fills up quickly so make a reservation. In summary, a very good Vietnamese restaurant 👍

We are almost always very satisfied. Tasty, friendly, fast. Sometimes we can't be reached by phone to reserve a table and sometimes an order is misunderstood, e.g. a meal for the child remained spicy even though we asked that the spicy ingredients be left out. Therefore a star deduction.

The food was super delicious! Very busy and therefore unfortunately very loud. Unfortunately the acoustics are not particularly good. But super close to the exhibition center and therefore a recommendation. Very inexpensive ;)

Very tasty food. Prices ok. Service very attentive. There is also something for vegans and vegetarians. The passion fruit mango sorbet as dessert was really good. Menu layout takes a bit of getting used to.

The food was pretty good but nothing special. The service was great and the design was classically beautiful for sure.

Very good authentic Vietnamese cuisine. We have now tried the menu up and down and have never been disappointed. The service staff are sometimes a bit uncoordinated (maybe new employees?), but always friendly. There is also a nice outdoor area in summer.

BEWARE OF THE LONG WAITING TIME! It was a sunday evening and the restaurant is almost fully seated, we waited around 5mins after getting seated and we still didnt get the menu. We needed to ask it for ourselves. We got the drinks pretty fast but the food came after waiting for over an hour. The servers were understaffed and stressed, brought food to the wrong table but were nice. The food that we got varied wildly from the quality, the meat from 20 was very delicious, the broth of the Phở (13) was okay but nothing special. And 18, the meat was overcooked and burnt, they also forgot the sauce.

Ordered via Uber and wanted to pick up. After 30 minutes, when I arrived I was informed that something went wrong with my order and was canceled without informing me. I waited another 30 minutes. I don't understand why a simple pho takes 30 minutes, there are almost no guests in the restaurant (2, 3 tables maybe). Most importantly, pho doesn't taste as good as before. Very disappointed with the food and unhappy with the service.

Unfortunately, I can no longer fully recommend Ong Tao. We have had several very late (>120 minutes total) and/or incomplete deliveries.

The food was very tasty, but unfortunately our order was forgotten so we had to wait a long time. However, this was also the case at other tables. Orders were brought to other tables who hadn't ordered it. There is still room for improvement in service. The apologies came across as very exaggerated. Maybe they'll get another chance to do better.

Nice place that aesthetically recalls Vietnamese atmospheres - it must be very pleasant even during the summer because it has an outdoor space for tables, illuminated with colored lights. Wide choice and nice short paragraphs on the menu which explain in detail some names of typical dishes. The service is also good. The only thing I didn't like too much was that the room where we ate had the tables very, very close together. Lots of noise with all the people talking, difficulty getting between tables if you have to get up to go to the bathroom etc. We were in the center of two other two-person tables, it was practically like there were six of us at the same table... a little too cramped.

Very nice restaurant. Very good food. Unfortunately it's always very full and most of the guests shout at a level that makes it no longer celebratory. So you actually need ear plugs to be able to eat there comfortably.
