Ong Tao - Vietnamesisches Restaurant & Bar in Frankfurt am Main

We dined here yesterday where the wonton soup was extremely salty, with each wonton costing €2 but containing almost no filling—just wrap-making it very poor value for money. The fried vermicelli was decent, but the cashier provided poor service. He refused to let us pay by card and was reluctant to give us change after we paid in cash, even though he had already asked for a tip. He came across as quite greedy. On the positive side, the restaurant had nice facilities, tasteful decor, and was dog-friendly.

I made a reservation with my group and visited this Vietnamese restaurant that locals go to. The atmosphere was great and the staff was friendly, but the taste of the rice noodles was just average. Fortunately, they recommended the monk beer(?) that you can only drink in Germany, and it was delicious. When paying, you can pay for each person's food and drink, and they ask for a tip, but unlike in the US, there is no mandatory percentage, so you can pay comfortably.

What a delightful dinner, we sat outside this evening and enjoyed an amazing meal. The service was fast and attentive and the food was delicious. We had spring rolls to starts followed by Pho Ga and #18 noodle salad. I was extra hungry and decided to also order #21 spare ribs and they were amazing. We have added this to our list of favorite in Frankfurt

Authentic Vietnamese cuisine with an atmospheric setting - there's even a street food truck. Cozy and comfortable seating areas both inside and out. We especially liked the appetizers - even more than the main courses, although they were tasty too. Be sure to try the fresh coconut - very refreshing and a nice complement to the food. The location is not the best, but if you have a car, parking is no problem.

If you want perfect Asian food in Frankfurt, this is the place for you.

Lovely Vietnamese cuisine in the shadows of the park trees. Make sure you make reservation. And avoid pork belly with rice noodles, somehow it was quite blend.

I would give this place not five, but ten stars! I liked everything - from the interior to the last bite of food. A very cozy atmosphere, attentive service, impressive interior. The food is just great! I especially remember the summer rolls with fish sauce - fresh, tasty, authentic. Shrimps in coconut breading - just delight! The whole dinner felt like a gastronomic journey. And the cocktail with lime and ginger was the perfect end to the evening. Frankfurt is famous for its international cuisine, and Ong Tao is a worthy addition to this list. Definitely worth trying if you are in town!

A true favorite! The atmosphere is simply gorgeous, especially on the terrace in summer. The food is delicious and absolutely fairly priced. The cocktails and mocktails are especially recommended – creative and really well-made. The teas and spritzers are also truly delicious. I love coming back here again and again – an all-round feel-good place with great taste.

Very tasty! A large selection of food. Grilled dishes, soups, vegan menu available. The service is very pleasant and extremely fast. We left satisfied. Draft beer is incredibly tasty. The only request, I recommend changing the sauce in item 24 from the menu, because it gives a very strange taste.

I would like to share my experience with you openly, impartially and transparently: -The ambience inside and outside is good. -The service staff (except the male waiter) is absolutely unprofessional and rude when it comes to constructive criticism. -The food is not fresh and is reheated several times, the meat is limp and is fried with the previous type of meat from a different animal, etc. -The vegetables are flabby and not crunchy because they have been sitting for a long time and are just thrown into the wok. -The sauces are also not fresh and are prepared in advance in quantities and only warmed up. -After a complaint, the waiter and also the boss replied like “everyone eats that” or “no one else complains” or “they don’t have to come back” I cannot recommend this restaurant to anyone who has any idea about good food. Ong Tao is a wonderful Vietnamese restaurant that really impresses with its authentic cuisine. As soon as you enter, you notice the relaxed, inviting atmosphere, which goes perfectly with a relaxed meal. The menu offers a great selection of traditional Vietnamese dishes, all fresh and prepared with love. Every dish we tried was incredibly delicious and authentic in taste - simply a delight! Despite the high crowds, which clearly confirms the popularity of the restaurant, the staff were consistently friendly, attentive and eager to ensure that every guest had a pleasant experience. You always felt welcome and in good hands. The location is also ideal, especially for visitors to the trade fair – just a few minutes away. Parking was also uncomplicated: we quickly found a parking space on the side of the road in the immediate vicinity. All in all, a highly recommended restaurant for anyone who wants to enjoy authentic Vietnamese cuisine in a warm atmosphere. We'll definitely be back!

The food is good, the portions too. Affordable price for the quantity.

The lemonades are delicious and the shop is nicely decorated. Despite the high-quality ingredients, the food is unfortunately bland and ultimately overpriced. Loosely rolled summer rolls that consist of 50% rice noodles and main courses that fall far short of expectations based on the description on the menu. It's a shame, because Ong Tao Vegan shows how good it could be.

Very good Vietnamese food. I can especially recommend the stuffed tofu. We have been there many times, have ordered several times and always enjoy coming back!

We ordered from Ong Tao via Lieferando. After over 1.5 hours there was still no food. We were told by phone that the food had been out for over an hour, which the delivery service could not confirm. Even though we always enjoyed the taste of the food, such poor customer service is really more than annoying.

A Vietnamese restaurant near downtown Phu Phu.. Bunbonambo, buncha, etc., everything tastes better than Ganchun Pyeongta?

Pho Bo is definitely recommended here! It tastes delicious. Be sure to reserve, it fills up quickly.

I have often either eaten on site or ordered home - the food is always delicious and the prices are fair. The terrace outside is particularly beautiful in summer!

This is chili salt water, not the broth of Hue beef noodle soup. It's really bad and won't be there again.

Super delicious food, authentic dishes and not the standard Asian food, but real culinary specialties from Vietnam. Both vegans and meat eaters will experience a culinary delight that is not available everywhere. If you like Asian food and have never been here, you're missing out.

We had dumplings as a starter, the vegetarian glass noodles and the curry rice with fried chicken. Since we have a top Vietnamese restaurant near us and the quality of the food there is better, we give it 3 stars

- Rolls: 6/10 We didn't like it very much, the duck was a little dry - Curry: 9/10 We asked the waiter if curry was spicy and he told us no, but for someone who doesn't eat spicy, it was spicy. - Pho: 8/10 I forgot to order it without cilantro, since in the ones I've tried in the past the cilantro comes separately

Food tasted good but was very salty, had pho soup, unfortunately we say there was a cat in the restaurant, which doesn't exactly speak for hygiene. Service nice. Homemade lemonade very good.

We came to the restaurant based on the good reviews, but our visit was a disappointment. After we arrived we were relocated because our table was supposed to be for six people was. A little later, however, the waiter seated two other guests at exactly that table. This situation was incomprehensible and unprofessional. About the dishes: My friend was happy with her meal, but my main course was a disaster. The vegetables were frozen, the meat was lukewarm. After a complaint, only hot broth was poured over it, but the food remained inedible. It tasted like it came from a prepackaged bag and had no flavor whatsoever. I am very disappointed and will not visit this restaurant again.

It's worth repeating... our group missed the toppings on the table for seasoning... we're looking forward to the outdoor area...

Bravo for the authenticity of the setting and for well-mastered Vietnamese cuisine. Bravo also the smile of the employees! It is a very pleasant change of scenery not far from the center of Frankfurt, with a beautiful harmony between traditional wooden furniture, elegant tableware and sophisticated decoration; all well aligned with the flavors found on the plates. In short, a very good discovery for our small group of friends wandering around the area that evening :-)

The atmosphere is very exotic, the food is very tasty, I love the crispy tofu. The service could be a bit more attentive, otherwise perfect!

My friend's 2 star review was deleted. If you read the comments here, this probably happens more often. How ridiculous when you can't handle criticism. Food is ok, but the approach with bad reviews means that I won't eat here again and won't recommend it to anyone.

Chicken crispy, sauce delicious. Unfortunately, for my taste, the vegetables in the sauce tasted slightly like frozen chestnuts. Otherwise service was on point and food was at the table quickly.

Interesting how you asked google to remove reviews with not so positive experiences, not sure why reviews exist in the first place. Anyway, here is my experience with Ong Tao from my visit 4 months ago and also a few days ago: I left a review sharing what I experienced, and got an email saying my review would be removed due to defamation. What happened to free speech and democracy? Let alone business integrity - instead of addressing issues with your business, you decided to stifle those who want to help you through their feedback. Here is proof of my visit in July to show I didn't just make up a review out of nowhere :)

There are a lot of people. I had high expectations. Perhaps my expectations were high, but the food did not suit my taste very well. A quasi-crisis is quite common. The price is also reasonable.

The food at Ong Tao was tasty, with a high selection of vegetarian options, but lacked a bit of spice. The service was very courteous, which made the visit even more enjoyable. The cozy location has potential for improvement, for example through more attractive furnishings. Overall, a nice visit that could be made even better with a few adjustments.

We came here in summer because of the long line waiting. But the food came out very disappointing. It was lovely decorated and they all came out very fast. The taste was not authentic vietnamese. The service was outstanding. It seems to us that the restaurant has not been taken care of for a long time. The garden is full of dust because of decorated rock. If you walk fast, dust will be everywhere.

I love Vietnamese food and have been searching for a great pho since I moved to Frankfurt three years ago. I finally found my spot and will be back! The pho is long simmered and you can taste it. Not to mention the roasted duck curry was the best I’ve ever had, the cocktails were on point and the appetizers super scrumptious. Lastly I came here for my 30th birthday with a group and we were so well taken care of. Thanks for a wonderful night ❤️

Went there a few days ago, ate buns and summer rolls again, unfortunately the quality was very poor compared to previous years, the summer roll was halved and served as two pieces, there was hardly any sauce for the main course, there was a wobbly plate and 50% The plate was covered with coriander. It's a shame I've been going to every Frankfurt trade fair for 10 years, but now I won't be back.

The food is super delicious. Unfortunately the service is very sloppy. The main course is brought if you haven't finished the starter yet. The drinks come after that Starter and then if you want something to drink after the main course, you literally have to beg for it. It was Sunday lunchtime and not very busy. Actually, it's a shame. It's still worth it for the great food.

We ate here on our first night. The setting was lovely outdoors and the menu offered lots in terms of variety although had to use Google Lens to translate the menu. Between us we had the papya salad, pork shitake rolls, duck breast curry, prawn rice dish , wonton soup along with a strawberry rum cocktail. The service was polite and all the portions were of great size and the drink tasted of fresh strawberries. I did find a lot of the sauces very sweet though and not a lot of spice. Still, I recommend this place.

Ong Tao is a good Vietnamese restaurant. The food is really tasty, especially the starters, especially the homemade spring rolls, are a highlight. The prices are perfectly reasonable, at 13-14 EUR for a main course. The cocktails are also well priced. The ambience is okay, but the restaurant is designed for a large number of guests, which unfortunately detracts from the atmosphere. It's nice that you can also sit outside.

Fuimos a una buena comida para terminar nuestro viaje de vacaciones. Seguro decir que nos fuimos deseando no haber ido. Esperamos 25 minutos hasta que tomaron nuestra orden. Los aperitivos tenían un sabor abominable... no pidas los rollitos de primavera o verano a menos que estés ansioso por el sabor de la suciedad. Después de los aperitivos esperamos casi una hora a que llegara nuestra comida. Pedimos Pho y dumplings. Esto no sabía auténtico en absoluto y la carne era de la menor calidad posible... era como comer chicle. No tardamos mucho en terminar porque no comimos más de 1/8 del tazón. Así que pedimos el cheque tres veces y las tres veces no vinieron. Vinimos a las 7 pm y nos fuimos a las 10 💀💀 explicando nuestras preocupaciones pero sonrieron como psicópatas. Por favor, si quieres ahorrar tu dinero NO VENGAS AQUÍ. Daría 5 estrellas si pudiera. El peor restaurante en el que hemos estado.

The food is very tasty and the atmosphere is also very nice. Unfortunately, I always waited a little long for the food, drinks and service, but I can ignore that if the other points are a 10/10.

Delicious food but... - The service staff is not familiar with gluten or gluten-containing foods on their own menu. - On the first visit we were served pork, even though we clearly stated that we don't eat pork! - there was a hair in the food and two small flies on the basil stalk (served as decoration on the food). The food itself is delicious, but unfortunately that sort of thing is an absolute no-go these days.

I waited 30 minutes to order and they canceled my order for no reason.

Unfortunately I can't rate the food because we weren't served. We were definitely seen upon arrival; but not greeted and we were not given a card. After 10 minutes I looked for someone who was approachable and asked if I could be served outside. Apparently yes, we should just look for a place and someone will come right away. After another 5 minutes we left and discovered a great Italian restaurant nearby. 15 minutes of waiting without attention even though the restaurant was only moderately busy and we had reserved... who can afford it 🤷🏼‍♂️
