I have been eating here for many years but the restaurant is getting worse and worse. The sushi was half-baked and was already half falling apart. We had to wait 20 minutes for dessert and there were hardly any guests in the restaurant. We had a dirty plate and some things didn't really taste good either. When paying, they didn't even ask if everything was OK. We asked if there would be new kitchen staff, but we were looked at stupidly and the waiter left. We then told him that it didn't really taste good and that no one cared. Previously a regular restaurant, today we decided not to eat here anymore.

Great service and also very suitable for children and vegetarians! So far we have only been to Okinii in Düsseldorf and today we went to Essen for lunch for the first time with our two children (6 and 2). We are vegetarians and found enough choice on the menu, sushi, udon, soba, gyoza, vegetables... the deep-fried dishes such as the crispy tempura and the gyoza are particularly noteworthy. The service was particularly friendly and accommodating (thanks Hicham!). Unfortunately our edamame and noodles were forgotten, but were delivered later (noodles quickly edamame unfortunately took a while :)) and our children even got free mochi ice cream. Overall, a successful visit.

So the ambience was really nice, a little too dark, but still nice! The service was okay too, too few staff, but nice! But I can't find the right words for what food! The food was from yesterday. The rice, the chicken and the rest were definitely not fresh! 40€ per person I thought it was too exaggerated, especially because there was limited choice. It was my first time there and honestly the last time! Really a shame!

The food was delicious, especially the teriyaki meat is recommended. Even if you are a vegetarian, the menu is sufficient for 25 euros. We sat outside and it was nice that we had the choice between inside and outside. Like sushi, very cheap. Verzehr im Restaurant | Mittagessen | 30–40 € Früher war dieser Laden extragut, heute nur noch ein Schatten seiner selbst. Wir waren heute mit 4 Personen essen. 12:30 hingesetzt, erste Runde kam 15 min später. Zu unserem Erschrecken stellten wir fest das die Hähnchen YAKI TORI Spiesse EISKALT auf den Tisch gestellt wurden, mit eiskalter Soße glasiert und feinem Schnittlauch garniert. Wenn Sie sich schon einmal einen kühlschrank-kalten Hühnchenspieß mit kalter Soße in den Mund gesteckt haben und nicht drauf vorbereitet waren: dann ist der Tag gelaufen. Als wir das reklamiert haben hiess es die Wärmelampen wären defekt. Ein frisch gegrillter Spiess wird aber nicht kalt wenn ich ihn ein "wenig" stehen lasse. Dieses Essen war 100% vom Vortag und kam aus dem Kühlschrank. Das Rinderfilet war nur von aussen heiss, innen kalt. Die Sushis waren alle angetrocknet. Die Colagläser waren dreckig und der Nachtisch war ALT. Tiramisu was geschmolzen schon zur Seite kippte dann aber wieder die Oberfläche angetrocknet, die ganzen sonst so saftigen Kuchenteile, alle FURZtrocken und die gebackene Banane dunkelbraun frittiert, als wäre sie mehrfach erwärmt. Das war kein gutes Essen wie ich es von Okinii Deutschlandweit gewohnt bin. Zumal früher hat man seine Portion Spieße seperat bekommen, heute knallen die 8 Stk in eine Schale. Man muss sich also Geschirr teilen. Erst ab Runde 3 waren alle Speisen relativ warm, niemals ganz heiss. Edamame waren eiskalt, die werden sonst heiss serviert. Der Kimchi schmeckte umgekippt. Essen: 0 Sterne Der eine Kellner hatte dreckige Sachen an, dreckiges Hemd, Hose voller Flecken und keine sauberen Fingernägel. Der andere Kellner hatte schwarz lackierte Fingernägel, was sicher heute ganz schick ist, aber in einem Restaurant NICHTS zu suchen hat. Er hat nur mürrisch auf unsere Nachfragen reagiert, hat unsere Tellerchen auf den Tisch knallen lassen und am Ende nicht mal gefragt obs geschmeckt hätte oder wir zufrieden waren. Service: 0 Sterne Das alles für 150 Euro? Da gehen wir sicher NIEMALS wieder hin und ich werde jeden den ich kenne davon abraten dieses Lokal noch einmal zu besuchen. Was früher bei uns als Geheimtip galt, ist heute für uns ein NoGo geworden. Jede pommesbude ist freundlicher. Woran es liegt? Keine Lust schon Mittags zu arbeiten? Küche macht erst auf wenn der Laden voll ist? Inhaberwechsel? Das alles entschuldigt diese Erfahrung nicht und wir sind maximal unzufrieden.

This shop used to be extra good, but today it's just a shadow of its former self. We had dinner with 4 people today. Sat down at 12:30, first round came 15 minutes later. To our shock, we discovered that the chicken YAKI TORI skewers were placed on the table ICE COLD, glazed with ice cold sauce and garnished with fine chives. If you've ever put a fridge-cold chicken skewer with cold sauce in your mouth and weren't prepared for it: then your day is over. When we complained it was said that the heat lamps were defective. But a freshly grilled skewer doesn't get cold if I let it stand for a "little bit". This meal was 100% from the day before and came out of the fridge. The beef fillet was only hot on the outside and cold on the inside. The sushi was all dried out. The coke glasses were dirty and the dessert was OLD. Tiramisu, which had already melted, tipped to the side but then the surface dried again, all the otherwise juicy cake parts, all FAR dry and the baked banana fried dark brown, as if it had been heated several times. It wasn't good food like I'm used to from Okinii in Germany. Especially since you used to get your portion of skewers separately, today they come in 8 pieces in a bowl. So you have to share dishes. Only from round 3 onwards were all the dishes relatively warm, never completely hot. Edamame were ice cold, they are usually served hot. The kimchi tasted off. Food: 0 stars One waiter had dirty clothes on, a dirty shirt, pants full of stains and no clean fingernails. The other waiter had black painted fingernails, which is certainly chic today, but has NOTHING place in a restaurant. He just reacted grumpily to our questions, slammed our plates onto the table and in the end didn't even ask if it was tasty or if we were satisfied. Service: 0 stars All this for 150 euros? We will definitely NEVER go there again and I will advise everyone I know not to visit this place again. What was once considered an insider tip for us has now become a no-go for us. Every chip shop is friendlier. What is it about? Don't feel like working at lunchtime? The kitchen only opens when the store is full? Change of ownership? None of this excuses this experience and we are extremely dissatisfied.

The ordering system is not good, as it is not possible to keep track of whether everything that was ordered was received and when. Sushi was good. The meat was rather dry and too well done. The dessert was ok but not great. Unfortunately the price-performance ratio is not good. Conclusion! No next visit in the future….

We had dinner at Okinii with a group of 12 people early on Saturday evening. Unfortunately, this time our visit didn't go well from start to finish. Ordering at Okinii is done via smartphone. Due to our number, the waiter divided us into 2 order groups. However, instead of taking the mathematical average of 6 people per group, he divided us into a group of 4 people and a group of 8 people. In my opinion, a communal order with more than 6 people becomes extremely confusing. In principle, it's not a bad thing if you don't get everything you ordered during the ordering round. There are additional rounds of orders for this. However, the staff seemed a bit overwhelmed with the number of guests. This was reflected, on the one hand, in the fact that we sometimes had to wait a very long time for the food and some dishes from the first round of orders only arrived after a good 90 minutes. On the other hand, some things didn't come at all. Even drinks sometimes took a long time. Personally, I have to say that the price-performance ratio and the entire stay at Okinii didn't suit me. For me it's okay if the ordering time is limited to just under 2 hours and is divided into 8 order rounds and 5 items per person. Based on the amount you should be well satiated. However, if you usually wait more than 20 minutes for the food you order and some food doesn't come until after 90 minutes, that doesn't suit me. After all, you can't be sure whether the food you ordered will still arrive and you don't want to end up ordering too much food. For me, this ultimately resulted in us leaving the restaurant after 3 hours and feeling the need to get a hamburger at Burger King so I would be full.

Today was the Okinii in Essen again for a long time. It's really not recommended. The waiters wear dirty clothes, have dirty fingernails and always have a cheeky saying on their lips that makes you feel uncomfortable. The sushi is edible, but that’s about it. Not even okay. When I look at the furnishings of the shop, broken chairs, greasy walls, everything is very run down, combined with the unkempt waiters, I would be very worried if I could get out of there today without food poisoning. Because after I got a Coke in a glass that was so dirty that it was already crusty on the edge, I got a new glass but the new glass was almost as bad. Maybe a little better. See image. I then poured the cola into a wine glass from which I had previously drunk a rosé. I can absolutely recommend the restaurant. I would like to know what would come out of a food inspection.

Every now and then it took a long time for a certain dish to arrive at the table and you quickly lost track and didn't know what was missing. The store is nice and clean. We were in the restaurant with a large group. During the week you can get a place without any problems. I would still recommend a reservation. You order with your own cell phone. A QR code gives you WiFi and access to the ordering process and menu. 8 rounds can be ordered and each person can order up to 5 pieces per round. The food came quite quickly. However, there was no overview of whether everything was already there and some parts were definitely missing. When we brought this up, we were told that these were still coming. Some things from the 1st round came in the 4th and some didn't come at all. But you still get full without any problems and the sushi is okay too. There is also a sufficient vegetarian offering. Card payment is possible.

We were in the restaurant with two people in the evening. Even in the middle of the week it is well attended. I was there recently with my fiancée and that was the very last time. We've been there many times and the food was always ok and everything was great. I don't know if the food had been lying around somewhere for hours or what. The noodles were cold and hard, the schnitzels were hard like rubber, many things were bad and it felt like everything was over salted... now you could say that can happen, but it shouldn't for €33 per person plus drinks and extras Not recommended to visit there. In addition, my fiancée and I had flu-like symptoms immediately after the visit and I suspect that it was sarmunella poisoning or something was wrong with the food. I will never go there again, I'm just disgusted by the store.

Everything was great on the first visit a few months ago. However, we were there a second time and were very disappointed. On the one hand, the staff was very unfriendly and the store was very unclean. There were sometimes several leftovers of food under the tables, the plates weren't really clean and it was also dusty. Sometimes the wrong food was brought. It took a long time until we were “delivered” with food. One dish came so late that we had almost paid because we weren't expecting it at all. That was the last time we eat here. The tip was correspondingly meagre, but it shouldn't bother the waiter - he thought it was better anyway. Maybe because we looked young. Well, I can assure you that in IT you can earn significantly more than a waiter, even at a young age. Maybe be polite every now and then and you'll get more tips.

Edit: Contacted the restaurant ages ago, as requested in the comment. To date there has been no response...that shows how unimportant it seems to be. We were there spontaneously because we really enjoyed eating at Okinii beforehand. Today we wasted almost €100.00. Some of the food didn't come at all; when it did arrive, the hot dishes were cold. We pointed this out to the waitress. All that came was “We’re trying our best”. Unfortunately, the best wasn't good enough because the other dishes also arrived cold. When paying, I pointed this out again to the other waitress, also pointing out that we had already mentioned it but nothing had improved. She gave a half-hearted apology and said it was because it was full. The store was only half full. It's okay that you have to wait. Sometimes (!) receiving the wrong thing. Absolutely okay. But to serve poor service and cold food at these prices is simply rude. In the end the waitress was offended because there was no tip. The food and service should have been 100x better. We will continue to do this so that friends also prefer to go to other restaurants of this type with better service. Really a shame.

UPDATE AFTER 6 YEARS... The kitchen is perhaps even better. After me moving away from Essen... I'm back! The lovely mushrooms are off the digital menu (on the card though, but not orderable) and the Piemente del Padron are ON the menu... VERY good. Order 4 of 'em! The Tobiko Gunkan Fish roe (fischrogen) replaced the original Salmon roe. Very busy, 75 people, and we were quickly served! Still true now, as then: ---- The selection, they are courteous, fairly quick, and the taste is pretty wonderful. Nice portions, so you can sample a fair amount..

I don't know if this is the standard all you can eat in Germany. But how bad. Tough meat. Oily fish and chips. The tuna was green. Hardly any choice in sushi, you have to pay for all the good sushi, as do most desserts. Sushi was not fresh neither was the rice. Too bad for words. We are really picky eaters. We eat everywhere and everything, but I have never experienced this. It honestly tasted really bad!!! Two positives. Drinking was nice. Also possible for €5.50. We got up and left. The restaurant itself is also beautiful €61.45 thrown away. I also told the waiter all this honestly. He looked at me as if he had never heard this before.

Food in the all-you-can-eat menu is very good. However, during our visit, the order per round was served incomplete several times. Although in 2 out of 3 cases the missing dish arrived in the next round, one dish did not arrive and when asked they said they would take care of it. Still it didn't come. Waren Samstag Abend da. Alles war sehr chaotisch und es hat ewig gedauert bis man was zu essen bekommen hat. Viele Besucher haben ihre bestellten Sachen gar nicht bekommen. Personal unfreundlich. Dann kommt noch das man jetzt kein Tablett mehr hat sondern alles übers Handy bestellen muss. Das ist sehr unübersichtlich und alles andere als einfach. Wir kommen nicht wieder.

My friend and I spontaneously went to eat there last week - but that was our last visit. We were big Okinii fans from the very beginning, but everything really dropped there. The food is now served in worn plastic bowls. Some of the food was cold even though the store wasn't full. It's not a problem that the price of the evening menu has increased, but the portions have now become significantly smaller. We had to reorder a number of dishes because some of them didn't come at all. For example, the lamb chop and the salmon were always fried to death, really not tasty. It's a shame actually...

Unfortunately, I have to say that the quality has declined significantly recently. You used to be able to eat delicious food here. Unfortunately things have gotten pretty bad now. The food is now prepared carelessly, ordering only works via your own cell phone and no longer via the clearly laid out tablet on which you can also see the food. And unfortunately there is no traceability of who ordered what with the software. The selection has changed. Real sushi is rarely available anymore. A unique experience for us - in other words, we don't have to eat there more than once. The atmosphere and prices are undoubtedly upscale, the waitresses are friendly but slow. The dishes that are usually eaten warm were all cold at the table. One dish didn't come at all and we had to ask for wasabi and ginger several times. Given the high prices, it's not a fair ratio for us.

8.7.2024 evening I was there with 2 friends. Our first orders ( only 3 of them ) came in 45 minutes . Other orders from the first order did not came at all till the end of 2 hours. A few pieces from second order came in 90 minutes late . Third tour order did not come at all . We told them many times . We asked for manager they said manages is not there. We finished the night, hungry and paid 135, 00 for nearly nothing. Even the foods came was too bad. The funnies , they offered us 2 sushi ( 2 single ) as apology in the restaurant which is unlimited sushi concept . Never again . In fact we saw all tables was unhappy about their food and service.

Anyone who knows Okinii should eat somewhere else. This has absolutely nothing to do with Okinii. Deep fried shrimps come in curry sauce. Glasses were an absolute disaster, even an animal wouldn't drink from them. Grilled shrimp swimming in tomato sauce. Sweet potatoes come cold. As of today, beef is made of fat and not meat. Sushi prepared carelessly. We left our food after the first round and went out.

Finally been back after a long time. And what can I say: The dishes were all on point, perfectly seasoned and simply good. Our waiter Domenik was the big highlight of our visit. He greeted us at the door with his friendly manner and always accompanied us through the evening with a suitable saying. I occasionally employ service staff myself and know how difficult it is to find such people. Since we were sitting right next to the cash register, I was able to observe how he interacts with other customers. He has the talent to recognize at first glance what makes the guest tick and what he has to say to make the guest smile. Basically, I have rarely seen a service team work so hand in hand. I now know where all the good waiters are after Corona: they are at Okini 😅

I really have to say that the service was a bomb. Our waiter was Dominik and he brought us everything within a few seconds. The food came really quickly and was also very tasty. Really great. :) The prices are quite reasonable in line with inflation. The drinks are also pretty cheap compared to other restaurants. Sometimes the music was a little spaced out. A little inappropriate for a Japanese restaurant. Still, it's nice to hear something different. Every now and then something older or something poppy instead of just all that nonsense.

Was there for the 2nd time. Unfortunately not recommended and definitely not for heavy eaters. You can only order every 15 minutes, unlike all other Japanese Grill restaurants where you can order every 10 minutes. And despite the long ordering time, in the 4th round you still get some food from the 2nd round. If you go there when you're hungry, you're more likely to get aggressive because of the waiting times. In addition, very often you get something that you didn't order and you don't get the things you ordered. I also noticed this at neighboring tables. The selection is also rather meager and the quality leaves a lot to be desired. For example, we ordered the special “Grilled Chicken with Parmesan”. It was just dry-fried chicken and there was no trace of parmesan. For dessert there was a cheesecake with blueberries. There was exactly one blueberry per person and was more comparable to a discount cheesecake. The price is extremely high here at around €35 ​​and there are plenty of Japanese grills that offer at least or significantly better quality for less money. E.g. the Fuji in Mönchengladbach.

I was at Okinii 1-2 years ago and left a review here, but I had to delete the old review in order to be able to submit a current one again. This shop was already in decline back then and now I think it's even worse! The staff still work completely listlessly and are not very friendly, everyone was walking around with grimaced faces, we were afraid to ask whether we would get a freshly served one. I don't find the ambience to be as nice as it was at the beginning, the whole shop is completely darkened, only in some places there is a little light and there is a glow behind the bar. The selection of sushi is very small, many types have been taken out of the menu and what is offered can actually be found on every corner in Düsseldorf, there are more types of chicken on offer and I found the soup with beef totally inedible, all the oil was sloshing over it. I couldn't and didn't want to eat it and we were billed for it separately. The toilets were very unhygienic and there was toilet paper everywhere, I think every corner and edge is saved in this store. I definitely won't go there again, there are better sushi restaurants. 2 people All you can eat, 1 bottle of water and 2 glasses of white wine: rounded up €100 paid. You can really leave the money somewhere else. It's a shame, Okini is history for us.

We spent a very pleasant evening here today. The thing is, you can order 10 dishes here every 15 minutes. Since we weren't told this, I placed an order and my wife then had to wait about 15 minutes before she could order. When we had already placed the second order after 15 minutes, the first order wasn't even at the table and it continued like this. At some point it was like an assembly line, but you should pay attention because your appetite slowly fades 😅 Personally, I lost track of the food I ordered. From the fourth round onwards we hadn't ordered anything and waited patiently until the leftovers were gradually brought to the table. The food itself was consistently good, but some plates were already cold to lukewarm when we received them. An order from the first round didn't arrive until the fourth round and was cold 🥶 What I personally noticed is that the food is served and at the same time there are dirty dishes on the tray along with the fresh food. That's why you grab the dirty dishes and the next moment you serve the fresh food with the same hand. Personally, I think that separate people should be responsible here: one person to serve and one person to collect the dirty dishes. Unfortunately, the next surprise came in the toilet 🧻: one toilet had glasses slightly smeared with AA, so I went to the second cubicle, which was fine, but there was no toilet paper 🧻. So I went to the first cubicle, borrowed some toilet paper and then went back to the second cubicle to hold the conference. When I wanted to wash my hands afterwards, the soap dispenser went on strike and I had difficulty getting soap 🧼. Maybe I was just unlucky. It was an interesting experience, but it doesn't necessarily need to be repeated.

No thanks! Hair in the food and shortly afterwards we all had stomach flu... irresponsible. Been new owners for almost 2 months and it is unhygienic and not even recommended to eat there!! That was the last time for us there!!!
