I was really curious about this place because it has a good amount of very good reviews as well as very bad reviews on google, but I kept seeing that it was a very traditional japanese place so I decided to give it a try, and I gotta say I was not disappointed! The food is exactly what I expected it to be, the portions are not big, but if you know anything about japanese culture, then you know that they do not eat to be full, they just eat to be satisfied and therefore, they never have gigantic portions of food. You get good quality fresh fish in bigger pieces, so in my opinion, the pricing is completely fair. The lady that served us was extremely nice, and the chef was also friendly to us. I believe when you go into a place like this understanding the culture and respecting the traditions, they will be more than happy to have you as a guest. I highly recommend it for anyone that wants real japanese cuisine in Dresden. This is a hidden gem in Dresden!

It's an excellent Japanese restaurant. I felt like I was on my travels to Japan. The food was wonderful. Overall, I spent a pleasant evening at this restaurant; everything was just right. The service was very friendly. I highly recommend Ogura.

Hello everyone, this is one of 2 "real Japanese restaurants" in all of Dresden! The food is authentic and phenomenal, I absolutely recommend it. The restaurant is run by an older Japanese couple. They want a pre-order so they can prepare for it. If their kitchen helper is unavailable, they may end up leaving the kitchen at 8 p.m. because they can't do it any other way. Please understand this. As someone who has been able to live in Japan for some time, I am very happy that I found this place.

This restaurant makes delicious food, but their customer service is terrible and they use hate speech in a language that the customer doesn't understand.

I have been eating in Japanese restaurants at least once a week for 30 years and have been eating at Ogura in Dresden twice a month for many years. Absolutely authentic cuisine, always fresh and varied, especially the surprise menu. Simply delicious. By far my number 1 in Dresden.

I had really high hopes for this place since I was searching for an authentic experience that would come close to what I had to eat in Japan and I was NOT disappointed! I’ve had the pleasure to dine in many, very good Japanese restaurants also outside of Japan and this is now one of my favourites (I was not expecting this from Dresden 😅). I did not have sushi, but loved the traditional dishes that were excellent in flavour. I also have to say that the service was really lovely. I tried to speak a little Japanese (I can only say very basic words) and was gifted a mochi after I paid ☺️. I will certainly come back for soba and of course the sushi!

This Japanese restaurant is tucked away inside Dresden Hilton and it is a relatively quiet place. It is pretty authentic and the interior design projects the Japanese aesthetical flair well. When it comes to sushi it is hard to beat this one in the Dresden area. The raw seafood quality was really good and the plates were styled nicely. The lacking ingredients were the relative small size of the portions and the quality of sushi rice; it somehow had a lackluster taste and texture. I haven't experienced anything negative when it comes to service quality, but there was admittedly a language barrier. The waitress was neither conversant in English nor in German but she was prompt in responding. I would happily come back to try out other dishes.

The existence of a restaurant practicing racial discrimination is unacceptable. The owner hasn't even returned to the island to reflect on the heinous crimes committed during World War II, and yet continues to practice racism here—it’s truly disgusting! It wouldn't matter if it were just one person who had an issue with the owner, but so many guests are saying the same thing. Google Maps should consider adding a special marker to warn people from other nationalities that this restaurant only serves Japanese patrons

The food was brought very quickly. It was only slightly warm and seemed to be heated by a microwave.

Wir sind seit vielen Jahren Stammkunden hier. Es ist ein authentisches traditionelles japanisches Sushi-Restaurant mit japanischem Sushi-Meister. Kein Mode-Sushi, keine Experimente. Auch die Vorspeisen, Misosuppe, Udongsuppe und Tempura sind empfehlenswert. Hier isst richtig, wer originale Küche schätzt oder kennenlernen möchte. In Japan wird man platziert. Man zahlt beim gehen an der Kasse. Man ist voll höflicher Bewunderung und Dankbarkeit für die Kunst des Meisters. Wenn der Fisch mal teurer ist, kann ein Gericht durchaus mit Aufpreis belegt sein, man wird aber beim bestellen darauf hingewiesen. Der Fisch hat immer die bestmögliche Qualität. Da Dresden nicht am Meer liegt, kann sie auch mal schwanken, aber zu 90 % waren wir zufrieden. Die Bedienung ist immer freundlich aber erwartet auch dass der Gast die japanischen Ansprüche an die Höflichkeit respektiert. "Der Kunde ist König" hat in jeder Tradition eine andere Bedeutung!

We had quite the encounter with the Japanese chef at Ogura, who clearly wasn’t pleased to see us. He refused to engage and muttered something like “termine,” making it clear he wanted us gone immediately. We stood there awkwardly, feeling pretty foolish, when an elderly server finally approached to tell us they were fully booked—despite the fact they were only serving one table at the time. The chef, visibly unhappy, cut her off and I swear I could hear a low growl coming from him. For the fun of it, we asked if they had availability for the next day or the day after. In response, we were met with a firm “X” gesture—apparently, they’d rather shut down than serve us. It was the perfect moment to teach our kids a life lesson: sometimes, no matter how cute you are, things just don’t go your way!

First-class sushi from a real Japanese.

I found hair in the food and I told the restaurant about it when I left the place so the restaurant could apologize to us. But instead of apologizing to us, they were starting to make racist comments to us. I don't know how this restaurant can exist inside of the Hilton Hotel. It is really a shame that to have this raicist restaurant inside of Hilton hotel. Hair came out between the rice. I don't know if it was the hair or something else, but I pulled it out and said something like this came out, and the restaurant didn't say anything. I didn't want to interrupt my time with my family, so I only ate the other half. But we didn't get an apology and we mentioned this story one more time when paying. However, in Japanese, the kitchen manager screamed and said something meaningless, ‘Korianno system.’ I was just trying to get an apology, but I screamed because I thought he meant to give me money. I kept hearing about the Corianno system. I lived in Europe for about 15 years, but this was my first time experiencing something like this. This was the first time I knew that racism was like this. And I can't believe that this happens frequently in a restaurant inside a hotel called 'Hilton'. I ordered more menus than the number of people and ordered more drinks than the number of people... If I had read the reviews earlier, I might not have gone, but I couldn't check. So, I actively leave reviews. The taste of the food wasn't bad. Like most restaurants, the taste is... But I can't express that feeling in words. Corianno system... I can't even tell you what the system is... It's really unpleasant and angry, more than the impurities coming out of the food... I think I've visited Dresden more than 10 times, and I don't even want to go to Dresden again.

They have been regular customers for years and will remain so as there is no better sushi restaurant in the region. It's all Japanese who do it perfectly. We've only been to Tokyo and it didn't taste much different there.

Disgusting restaurant, and the owner is apparently rude and impolite

Been many times and living in London am used to a lot of high end sushi that carries a more premium price tag, this in many ways was better than most. The quality of the ingredients is outstanding and the tamago and tempura are top notch! Extremely skillful and natural way of marrying Japanese cuisine with German ingredients such as white asparagus tempura. I also find it horrendous to see some of the comments here that mistake a language barrier for rudeness, such a friendly couple that are running this.

Wir waren im Hotel zu Gast und wollten etwas essen und japanisch findet man ja nicht überall, zumal die Bewertungen nicht so schlecht waren. Die Begrüßung war nett, das Restaurant war nicht sehr gut besucht. Es gab Teppanyaki-Tische, aber davon stand leider nichts auf der Karte. Wir hatten Sushi und Sashimi, die waren auch OK. Allerdings hatte ich noch Pulpo, die Portion war sehr übersichtlich. Das reichte aber von der Menge, denn so schlecht habe ich Pulpo noch nie serviert bekommen. Er war sehr zäh und ungenießbar. Auf den Hinweis diesbezüglich gab es nur die Antwort der Bedienung, das wäre halt bei Pulpo so. Das kann ich aber nicht bestätigen, da wir diesen auch schon selbst zubereitet haben und das überhaupt kein Problem war. Im Übrigen muss man sich schon sehr anstrengen, den Pulpo so zu versauen. Ein Entgegenkommen gab es leider nicht, so war das Essen leider etwas enttäuschend, wir werden das Restaurant sicherlich nicht wieder besuchen.

The first time we came just before closing time, but they were so friendly and still served us quickly and friendly. The second time we had more time and were able to enjoy other dishes in a relaxed manner. Everything tastes wonderful, is very authentic and the price-performance ratio is reasonable. A clear recommendation for people who really want to taste authentic Japanese cuisine.

Very good Sashimi, simple and fresh.

A spacious traditional Japanese restaurant. Very pleasant and quiet with lots of space, large tables, comfortable chairs, and good lighting. The service was very friendly, quick and attentive. The sushi was made vegan upon request and everything tasted delicious. Very fresh and aromatic. The prices are completely okay, not exorbitantly expensive. I can highly recommend the restaurant!

I saw the advertising photos outside the hotel, which were very authentic Japanese advertisements, and I immediately went to the restaurant to make a reservation for dinner. The owner was very cool. Anyway, this is the second authentic Japanese restaurant I’ve eaten in since I came to Germany for the eighth year. The appetizers are super delicious. The sashimi set is also good, but the portion is a little smaller. The fried pork cutlet set is a little dry and tastes bad. The soup is so delicious that I will order another bowl. It is really worth recommending. Don't read reviews, just be a polite customer, I think the store will be happy to serve you 😊

The restaurant owner is truly the worst and most disgusting person I have ever met. I brought my camera to take pictures of me and my friend eating, the owner's wife came over specifically to ask if we were youtubers, I said no I was just taking pictures to commemorate the tour, the owner's wife said that they are a private restaurant if you take pictures of the owner you need to ask, which I thought was strange, is this the first time your restaurant has received tourists? Is it unusual for tourists to take photos to commemorate their visit? Besides, why would I want to photograph the owner of the restaurant? Before we left, the owner suddenly said he wanted to take a picture of me and my friend with his own cell phone, I said no, he said "good memories" and insisted on taking a picture with his cell phone after we refused, and then looked disdainful after taking the picture. I thought it was strange but didn't think it was racist, but later I realized that the owner was intentionally trying to humiliate us. I've traveled to Japan many times and have many Japanese friends, and I've never encountered anyone as disgusting as the restaurant owner. If you think humiliating two young women gives you pleasure, it only proves more that you are a weak, disgusting and inferior man, you are a disgrace to the your own people. I will post everything on my social media platforms, and you can do whatever you want with the so-called "good memories" of humiliating two young women on your cell phone. BTW: The owner's wife raised the price of sushi on every menu item by 1.5€ after asking if we were Chinese. I thought it was just a new price, but now it seems that you are simply discriminating against Chinese people. It's okay, I'll just take this as a few euros in advance for you guys to burn on your way to the afterlife. Was für Restaurant.... Da meine Freundin und ich Sushi lieben und gerade in Dresden waren, gingen wir abends zu Ogura, Die Bedienung war super authentisch und freundlich. Das Sushi war bisher das beste, aber auch teuerste Sushi, was wir gegessen haben. Jedoch hat Qualität ihren Preis und hier war es absolut gerechtfertigt. Gerne wieder, wenn wir in Dresden sind.

Das mit sehr sehr großem Abstand beste japanische Restaurant in Dresden. Das Essen ist außergewöhnlich gut.

Als Japanerin muss ich sagen, hier kann man wirklich wie in Japan essen. Sie kochen sehr authentisch japanisch, keine Fusionsküche. Der Preis ist auch nicht überzogen. Das Ambiente und die leise Hintergrundmusik mit klassischer Klavierliteratur passen dazu.

From my friend’s suggestion, we went here for our dinner. The good point is that the old waitress is really friendly and enthusiastic and the young waitress is gentle even though they can hardly speak either German or English The things which this restaurant should improve are the quality of the food and the attitude of the chef. For example, the rice served with eels was stinking which was seemingly heated up in the microwave, beef steak was cold. Plus, the price is quite high compared to the quality of the food.

My family and I had a great experience during our time in the restaurant. The food was very delicious and everything we ordered was cooked to perfection. The sushi was amazing and they treated us with respect. An authentic Japanese restaurant experience.

Excellent meal at the Hilton. The vibe was what I expected of a Japanese restaurant and the quality was by far, one of the better ones I have had in Germany. Absolutely would come back here again. Chef and the elderly waitress were friendly - of course, things can get lost in translation particularly with the chef, but once we chatted more, he was friendly. But we are here for the food right? Yes so the food definitely was worth the money. Would come back here again. Only one of two Japanese restaurants that are worth coming to!

I am maybe a bit ignorant maybe of Japanese cuisine but found the food fresh but small in portion and very expensive. Think basically I paid for some fresh / raw dishes but prepared very prettily - but again, crazy expensive for the tiny portions

Kunden, die hier eine 1 Sterne Bewertung geben, tun mir wirklich leid. Ich habe hier vor einigen Jahren das bis dato beste Sushi meines Lebens gegessen. Echte Kunst, tolle Präsentation, allerfeinste Zutaten. Danach konnte ich nirgendwo mehr das allseits übliche Schrottsushi essen. Und ja, der Inhaber ist japanisch und etwas introvertiert. Im Service diesesmal eine sehr freundliche ältere Japanerin. Respekt und Höflichkeit sollte man selbst zuerst mitbringen. Jetzt also ein erneuter Besuch. Das Sushi mittlerweile leider etwas kommerzialisiert, aber immer noch top frisch und sehr gute Konsistenz und natürlicher Geschmack der ausgewählten Fischsorten. Das kleine Röllchen top. Was mich aber wirklich umgehauen hat , war das Roastbeef. Perfekter Garpunkt, fantastisch zart- aromatisches Fleisch mit herausragender Zubereitung. Bestes Roastbeef seit Jahren. Dazu ein Sake und ein gut gekühltes Ashai Bier. Wer hier einkehrt, wird es nicht bereuen.

至少去吃过四次，每次态度都很好，味道也不错，没有遇到过评论里讲的问题。

Ich war zunächst extrem verunsichert da sich die Kritiken hier ganz furchtbar lesen. Allerdings kann ich keine dieser wütenden Phrasen nachvollziehen. Der „Koch“ hat uns sehr freundlich begrüßt, die beiden Damen waren überaus höflich und zuvorkommend. Der Fisch war frisch und insgesamt war es sehr delikat. Die Preise sind hoch, im Vergleich zu den ansässigen Vietnamesischen Sushirestaurants aber fair und keineswegs teurer. Und das im Hilton… Also wir kommen gern wieder, danke für den schönen Abend

Köstlich mit freundlicher Bedienung!

We came on a Thursday evening for dinner having spontaneously reserved during the afternoon. It would have not been necessary though because only three (two plus us) tables were occupied. Kind of understandable since the location is sort of hidden inside the Hilton. The waitress, an old Japanese lady, was very polite and attentive. The food was very good. I ordered the surprise menu and my absolute favourite was the tuna with miso sauce, which was delicious.

店主の人間性を疑います。 21時閉店と記載あったので、20時20分ごろにお邪魔し、店主に「まだ入れますか？」と日本語で伺ったところ、ドイツ語で返答され日本語がわからないふりをされました。彼は間違いなく日本人です。よほど店に入れたくなかったのでしょう。 困っていると、奥から店員の方が出てこられ、英語で応対して下さり、どうぞ、と店に案内されると、横にいた店主が急に怒りだし、OPENの立札をCLOSEにヒックリ返し「閉じとけよ！」と怒鳴り散らしました。 もちろん、入店はお断りさせて頂きました。 味に自信があるからの態度かわかりませんが、嘘をつく人間の作る料理が美味しいとは思えません。 レストランでの人生最悪の経験でした。絶対にお勧めしません。

Gutes Japanisches Restaurant betrieben von Japanern. Leider ist man nicht sehr kommunikativ. Essen sehr gut und sein Geld wert.

Einfach großartig. Abwechslungsreich und so nah wie man aus Deutschland halt am authentisches Japanisches Essen kommt. Das Überraschungsmenü ist in jedem Fall zu empfehlen. Man sollte mit ca. 40 bis 60 Euro pro Person rechnen, wenn man nicht eben nur schnell etwas Sushi essen will.

Very disappointed. These were no where near Sashimi quality salmon pieces. Better go to a supermarket and cut the pieces yourself at home. When I talked to the Japanese chef about this, he just screamed at me and told me to go back to my seat. It was like a comedy show. Very expensive and totally overrated. Avoid at all costs.

Rassist Restaurant 전화 예약을 하는데 문득 어느나라 사람이냐는 질문을 했습니다. 예약하는데 국적을 따지는게 너무 이상해서 대답을 회피하니 그냥 궁금해서 물어보는 것이다 라는 식으로 말을 얼버무리는데 살다살다 독일에서 일본인한테 인종차별적인 대우를 받으니 어이가 없더군요. 초밥과 사시미의 맛도 퀄리티도 형편 없었고 식사 중 주방에서 자기네들 언어로 속닥대며 킥킥 거리는데 누가 보기에도 저희 테이블 이야기를 하는것 같아 보였습니다. 좋은 시간 내서 돈써가며 나쁜 추억 만들지 마시고 이런 스시집 가서 외식 하느니 차라리 장봐다 집에서 밥해먹는걸 추천드리고 싶네요. Das Restaurant ist total unnett und sogar sind die Rassist. Ich kann schon mal bei der Reservierung das Gefühl haben. Bei der Reservierung haben die mich gefragt wo ich hergekommen bin. Wofür beaucht man die Info für Staatsangehörigkeit eine Reataurant zu reservieren? Das Essen ist auch nicht gut. Das Sushi und Sashimi sind gar nicht fresch. Wenn Sie das Geld und Zeit verbringen möchte dann empfehle ich das Restaurant für Abendessen zu gehen^_^

The food quality was really good - we were happy. Even the price is a bit more expensive the food is worth the money - the waitress was very friendly and the mood in the restaurant was calm and relaxed - unfortunately I tried to chat to the chef who prepared sushi next to the entrance when we left. I don't want to tell details but it really spoiled the evening and the *** is still a very good rating with that unacceptable behaviour. If you are not enjoing to humble serve your guests you should not open a restaurant even if you are a master chef. I don't think we will come back ..

Very authentic Japanese restaurant! The service is also very nice. It's more expensive than most other restaurants, but it's worth it to get some simple dishes every now and then.

Decent and authentic Japanese food but comically rude and arrogant behaviour by the chef and his staff. First and last time I tried this place.

Ein sehr schönes Restaurant, super nettes Personal und sehr leckeres Essen. Schade, dass es so versteckt ist, wir haben das Schild nur durch Zufall entdeckt. Die California Rolls sind sehr zu empfehlen. Das Essen wurde in Rekordzeit serviert.

Wir waren mit der Familie vor Ort Speisen. Eine unüberschaubare Karte, unserer Meinung nach waren die Preise teilweise zu überteuert, keine Mengenangabe bei einzelnen Sushisorten vorhanden. Das Personal ist nett spricht aber kaum deutsch, der Service und die Location sind dem Preisleistungsverhältniss überhaupt nicht angepasst! Wir sind für das viel zu teure Sushi leider nicht satt geworden ☹️! Schade, würden wir so nicht mehr weiter empfehlen!

Für mich ein absoluter Geheimtipp! Fast nirgends kann man in Deutschland so gut und authentisch Japanisch essen wie hier. Service und Essen sind auf höchstem Niveau, und die Preise sehr fair.

Definitiv das beste japanische Restaurant in Dresden und sogar eines der besten in Deutschland. Wer wirklich authentische japanische Küche essen möchte, sollte unbedingt hier hingehen und sich nicht von den vielen anderen reinen Sushirestaurants täuschen lassen. Hier kocht ein japanischer Meisterkoch. Vor allem zu empfehlen sind die leckeren Vorspeisen, eventuell zusammen mit einem Sashimi-Menü. So kommt man in den Genuss vieler unterschiedlicher Köstlichkeiten. Definitiv zu empfehlen … und wir werden wiederkommen. Achtung: Man findet den Eingang schlecht. Einfach im Hilton Hotel dem Schild vor der Treppe nach oben im 1. Stock folgen. Arigato gozaimasu!

한국분들에겐 비추천. 쉐프가 서양인처럼 생긴 손님은 스시 조리대 밖으로 나와 웃으며 맞이하고, 우리는 인사도 없이 예약했냐고 퉁명스레 묻더군요. 그 외에도 다른 후기들처럼 정말 별로였어요. 음식은 보통이었어요. 돈까스는 튀김옷이 분리되고 너덜거려서 일식 같진 않았어요. Der Chef war rassistisch und unglaublich unfreundlich nur gegen die Leute mit asiatischen Aussehen. Ich verstehe gar nicht, warum dort auch auf koreanisch geschrieben ist, dass es ein Japanisches Restaurant ist, der Chef hat Koreaner beleidigt. Er solltest sich schämen.
