We arrived at 2:15 pm and left after a little over an hour and a half without having eaten. After 45 minutes, we finally got our drinks. The dining area was cold, and the restrooms were barely warmer than the outside temperature. After we didn't receive our order (after almost an hour, we learned that two of the dishes we ordered were no longer available, so we ordered two alternatives). The location is actually quite nice, and the few meals they delivered looked good, but unfortunately, we didn't receive any. The real disaster was the service. When we asked for clarification, we were usually met with a curt response about staff shortages. There was no understanding, not a word of apology, just excuses and justifications, and we were told that's just how it was. We were far from the only dissatisfied customers that day. By the way, everything was perfect and quick at the kebab shop across the street.

We were at the Öchsle in Ochsenfurt on Sunday, October 19, 2025, at 5 p.m. It was truly a disaster! Many ingredients/dishes were "out of stock" and unavailable, which we only found out after ordering (if at all). This was the same thing we noticed at many tables around us. I had ordered venison frikadellen (venison meatballs) with bread dumplings and savoy cabbage (€24!!). I received the dish in the photo – with the succinct note upon serving, "Sorry, savoy cabbage was out of stock today, I just found out about that!" I immediately said I was totally disappointed, as I was really looking forward to savoy cabbage, which was primarily why I chose the dish, and even asked beforehand if it came with a dark sauce, which was confirmed. I received dumplings with root vegetables (from a packet). The bread dumplings were extremely oversalted and impossible to eat! I also told the waiter this – the response was: "Sorry, it's not my fault. I hope not all the bread dumplings here are oversalted today." At our table, another dish with bread dumplings was also oversalted. My friend had the beef ladder with steakhouse fries (also for €24). Both dishes, in terms of quality and presentation, fell short of expectations for this price. The fries, for example, were drowned in a thin sauce. Homemade red cabbage was missing here; it was apparently out of stock, too. We politely expressed our disappointment, something we don't normally do. In the end, we had to pay the entire bill!! The chef and service were definitely not professional! We certainly won't be coming here again and can't recommend it to anyone!

We've been here twice in the last few days and were impressed by the rustic ambiance and friendly service. There's a weekly special and a menu that's not overly elaborate. The Schäufele (shoulder of pork) is especially recommended for pork lovers. Everything was just perfect, from the crispy rind to the tender meat! Unfortunately, we won't be in the area long enough to try any more dishes. You should reserve a table. Many locals also clearly appreciate the good food. The beer and wine were also very tasty. We'll be happy to stop by again and let ourselves be pampered!

We were guided by the positive reviews and made a reservation for the evening. The ox cheeks we ordered, which were supposed to be juicy and tender, were firm, tough, and dry, and hadn't been braised for long at all. Due to its sinewy and stringy texture, it was beef shoulder. We had to criticize the goulash dish because it was less than a child's portion of meat. After complaining, they replaced it with goulash. The tarte flambée with Camembert and walnuts was good. In our opinion, it was unprofessional that a new waitress was trained and practically "shown off" by the manager in front of the packed restaurant. This could be done differently and better. We cannot currently offer a recommendation.

The excellent reviews prompted me to reserve a table for dinner. The welcome and assignment to our table in the so-called beer garden were friendly. We were also able to place our order relatively quickly. Unfortunately, that sums up all the positive aspects of this evening. For my starter, I ordered a blue Zipfel sausage. As a native of Nuremberg, I have some experience with this dish. I received a completely unseasoned and therefore extremely flavorless sausage in a flavorless broth. Later, I learned that the sausage was made in-house. When I asked about the lack of salt and other spices (e.g., herbs), the manager told me that herbs had "no place" in a bratwurst and that she used very little salt. In conclusion, she stands behind her almost flavorless product. For my main course, I chose chanterelle mushroom ragout with dumplings. Again, there was no salt, this time completely. Unfortunately, the bread dumplings were almost mushy, but also very lightly seasoned. When the waiter asked me how it tasted, I truthfully replied that it was the worst chanterelle stew I've ever had (age: 72), even though the chanterelles were noticeably of good quality. I decided not to have dessert. Bottom line: once and definitely never again. What I really wonder, though, is how the excellent reviews came about.

The many, quite positive reviews recently led us to the Öchsle. Did we just have a "bad day," or is it always like this here? Because "GOOD" definitely tastes different. But let's start with the ambiance; as we all know, eating isn't just about the eye. Perhaps they should just clean up the courtyard and take away the trash. As for the food: My husband had Blaue Zipfl (a kind of sausage) as an appetizer. The sausages came in a completely tasteless broth, and the sausages had no salt, no seasoning, nothing at all. The main course: bread dumplings with chanterelle ragout: The bread dumplings had been sitting in hot water for a long time, the sauce was a flavorless flour mush, and the chanterelles, good quality but also completely tasteless. When the waitress asked us if we enjoyed our meal, we answered truthfully. The cook herself came to our table and explained to us that she deliberately uses very little salt and that absolutely no seasoning belongs in sausages. We were quite surprised. The restaurant makes its own sausages, and, according to the chef, deliberately uses no spices. The Franconian cuisine is hearty and delicious, not so much at Öchsle. Definitely never again!

We went there for dinner again after a year. The food had gotten a lot worse. The pasta was so cheap, the goulash seemed like goulash from a jar from a local butcher. The bread dumplings were made with breadcrumbs not sliced bread, the dumplings were as fine and firm as tennis balls. The chicken was dry and fibrous. You had to go through the private rooms to get to the beer garden. The salad buffet had brown carrot sticks and the rocket had dried out from the sun. The owners' personal belongings were next to the salad buffet. The whole restaurant was untidy. After I mentioned the problems, I was no longer served and had to ask three times before someone came to pay.

I hate to say it, but the beer garden, as well as the dining room and the path to the beer garden, have apparently been neglected for some time. We felt it was dirty and unkempt. When my companion mentioned this, she was treated very harshly and rudely. The service was very friendly, the food was good... but once and never again. SORRY, but as a guest, you don't have to put up with plums for the sake of the ambiance.

Tucked away around the corner of the pedestrian street is an unassuming restaurant. Walking inside, a very nice woman is standing at the stove, and, as it turns out, she's preparing delicious meals. Whether inside or in the small beer garden under the linden trees, a visit is highly recommended.

The Öchsle has a small, lovely beer garden in the back courtyard, accessible through the somewhat chaotic hallway—which lends the place a certain charm. But it's the owner who adds the charm, above all! He gave us lots of great tips for things to do in the area and told us a bit about the history of the Öchsle. Very nice and interesting, we highly recommend it—and the food, too, by the way☺️

I was at the Öchsle on July 24th shortly after 6:00 PM and wanted to eat a Schäufele (pork shoulder). They have a great beer garden and a cozy dining room. Unfortunately, the weather wasn't great, so I stayed inside. The very friendly waitress told me that the Schäufele would take about 40 minutes to cook. I passed the time with a delicious Ochsenfurter Pils. The Schäufele was sensational and probably the best I've ever eaten! (see photo) The crust was so crispy and the meat was tender and cooked through. It was rounded off with two delicious potato dumplings and red cabbage. I'll definitely be back.

A very nice, family-run restaurant. The atmosphere is casual and pleasant. The food is very tasty – truly freshly cooked. I arrived relatively late – 9 p.m. – and the dumpling water had already been thrown away. So I switched from my original request of ox cheeks with red cabbage and dumplings to Franconian vineyard bratwurst snail with fried potatoes. I enjoyed that too. The menu is very attractively presented, and the wine was also very good. I'll definitely be back.

2025 Update As repeat visitors, our path led us back to the Öchsle. And something has changed. A wonderful, cozy beer garden with shady trees creates a feel-good atmosphere. The food is as good as always, and the drinks are brought quickly. The staff is friendly and always concerned about the well-being of the guests, and a great manager who has everything under control. Highly recommended! We will definitely be back. 2024 After a year, we returned to the Öchsle. Like last time, we were a group of 10. The food was a feast for the palate. Salads, tarte flambée, bratwurst, ox cheeks, shoulder of pork, and much more, all to our complete satisfaction. A friendly manager and excellent service rounded off a lovely evening. 2023 We went to dinner with a group of 10 people. The dishes on offer were typical Franconian cuisine. The dishes were served promptly so everyone could eat at the same time and tasted excellent! The outdoor area could be a bit more inviting. Otherwise, everything was really good!

The food we ordered was good to very good, but there were a few minor issues with the service: A second drink order wasn't possible at some tables; the salad buffet system was somewhat unconventional. We were able to take a break from our bike ride today in the newly opened garden. The host is very friendly, the service excellent, and the tarte flambée delicious. A glass of Silvaner with it, and May 1st turns from Labor Day into a day of enjoyment. A little hidden, but a clear sign showed us the way. We'd love to come back here.

The food was simply delicious – authentic Franconian and of outstanding quality. You can taste the fresh ingredients and passion in every bite. In addition to the excellent cuisine, we would also like to highlight the service. The staff was excellent from start to finish: attentive, friendly, and very accommodating. We felt very well looked after. An absolute highlight is the beautiful, romantic beer garden in the courtyard. It's the perfect place to linger, especially on balmy evenings. Here you can fully enjoy the food and the atmosphere. For us, the Öchsle is an absolute must in Ochsenfurt – whether for a cozy evening for two or with friends. We'll definitely be back!

I felt like I was in good hands when putting together the personal menu on site, especially since our request for lactose-free food was not a problem at all. We waited about 30 minutes for our food and then ate it very tasty. The service employee was also very nice, so we tipped generously. The only thing that could be "criticized" was that the Schäufele knife was a little less sharp. Otherwise, it is advisable to bring a box with you if - which can happen with dishes like Schäufele - you cannot manage your food, even if there are disposable boxes for €1 or deposit boxes for €4. Tip: It's best to reserve in advance, as it's a small, cozy restaurant where you don't have to worry about your ears falling off because of the noise 😉 Thank you for the lovely evening, we’ll be happy to come back 🙂

We visited the Oechsle because of the positive reviews and the gourmet block - full of anticipation of a good visit to the restaurant. Unfortunately, the disappointment was great. The food was simply terrible. Anyone who values freshly prepared food will definitely be disappointed here. Ready-made sauces, convenience products and carelessly prepared dishes have nothing to do with good cuisine. Charging €22 for a meal out of a bag is just outrageous. We were surprised as soon as we entered the restaurant - but not in a positive way. The atmosphere is more reminiscent of a bar or dive bar than a restaurant. The boss sits at the counter in front of two screens and seems more concerned with organization than with catering. Coziness? None. The only positive thing was the friendly service, who clearly made an effort. However, one got the impression that she herself knew how disappointing the food was. Conclusion: Absolutely not recommended. If we had had to pay the regular price without the gourmet block, it would have been an even bigger disappointment. A restaurant visit that I will definitely not repeat.

I don't understand the good reviews! It was a disaster visit! The salad buffet was loveless and the products weren't fresh in my opinion. The atmosphere is not inviting. We were with the gourmet block and when the food came we were amazed because we had ordered 2x Cordon Bleu and one had about 15 fried potato slices (very greasy) on it, the other had a lot more spaetzle... when we took the first bite , we looked at each other and thought the same thing. The meat didn't taste good to us, it had a strange taste... It was difficult to explain it to the service staff because there was a language barrier! 3x requests for ketchup for the child... And the boss sat uninvolved in the entrance area in front of the laptop and didn't pay any attention to it. Unfortunately, no other conversation took place. We weren't doing well. We won't come back.

Were there for lunch. It was very small, cramped and really cold. I had to put on my winter jacket, but my feet were still very cold. We didn't get clean glasses and there were limescale spots on the cutlery. The Schäufele was not good. Not tender at all and the sauce felt like it only consisted of alcohol. We would not recommend the restaurant and do not understand the good reviews.

Every last Friday of the month I give a make-up workshop in the large adjoining room. The Franconian great restaurant is known for its legendary tarte flambée (perfect for a hungry person). The salad is also recommended. You can serve this yourself at the salad bar. Advantage: you can load your plate as full as you want! There are various displays in the next room, but they don't interfere with eating. We would be happy to come back at any time!

We found out about Öchsle through the Schlemmerblock and the four of us went out to eat there on Saturday. Although the restaurant was quite full, the nice waiter took time for us and told us a lot about the dishes and the area. We sat in the wine bar. The atmosphere there was very nice. The menu is kept quite small and a lot of emphasis is placed on regionality and high-quality ingredients. We had goose leg, ox cheeks and beef ladder. The food came quickly and everything tasted really delicious. We'd love to come back.

We had 9 people with children and dogs and were allowed to sit in the wine bar. The operation was new, but she did a fantastic job, respect! Restaurant was extremely crowded but not unpleasant, there was enough space. The salad bar wasn't a highlight, but I can highly recommend the main meal and dessert. Everyone enjoyed it very much and we would come back.

We booked the "Vinothek" (which is housed in a separate building, directly in front of the main restaurant, facing the Main Street) for our family event with 30 people. We enjoyed the location, the fast and friendly service and the buffet. Dishes were delicious and customised to our tastes and dietary (e.g. vegan and vegetarian, as well as traditional stuff) preferences, so we can't really comment on the standard menu, but the chefs certainly know what they're doing. We'll definitely come back for more <3 :)

That's what pizza should be like! Super delicious, well-seasoned, and not greasy. Super friendly service. Would go back anytime and highly recommend. A week later, I had two schnitzels with fries and salad, and everything was great again. And that enormous portion for an unbeatable €11! So it's good and affordable after all. I'll definitely be back.

We held our Christmas party at Flockenwerk this year, and it was simply wonderful – a fantastic location, super friendly service, and incredibly delicious food (especially the Silvaner soup :-) )... and thanks to Andreas's efforts at Terrior F, we also had superb catering, including one of the best mulled wine drinks we've had in the last few cold days. We'd love to come back! Thank you so much.

Unfortunately, I was very disappointed with my meal. I ordered fish, and it was tough, overcooked, and oversalted. More breading than fish. The sauce and vegetables were okay, but nothing more... and please don't make your tea with tap water.

A very beautiful location for celebrations of all kinds. When the weather's nice, you can sit outside in the beautifully landscaped garden. Nice seating and excellent food, as well as delicious cocktails, are available. The noise level inside is a bit loud.

A visit to a very nice brewery where food is celebrated... Simple fries and salad beautifully presented... Franconian blue sausages superbly prepared... And very attentive service... All in all, a fantastic brewery visit that we would gladly repeat.
