O Cantinho in Cuxhaven

Had dinner with 12 people. Everyone was very enthusiastic. Great service, rustic location with a maritime atmosphere. We'd love to come back.

The restaurant is located in the old fish halls. This makes everything very rustic and simple but very comfortable. I went to the fish auction there every weekday during my apprenticeship as an industrial clerk. It's the history of the fishing port of Cuxhaven. A visit to the Wind Force 10 Museum is also worthwhile for holidaymakers.

For the seafood platter, I would have liked something more than just squid and scampi. At least mussels are included and also sauce/dip without asking. Quantity, so price/performance are borderline. Yes, fish is expensive, but for €40 it was about a little. The taste was good and the service was also nice and friendly. In the end unfortunately only cash payment and no receipt/invoice? A bit dubious, but what if the cash register is buried under a pile of paper. Eldorado for FA officials.🙈🤷‍♂️

Poor service in terms of approach and you had the feeling to order, eat and pay quickly so that the table would be free again. The salad was small and carelessly prepared. The seafood platter was disappointing for the price, the selection was too small, it was cold and very oily. Luckily there are better things in Cuxhaven.

Service absolutely bad, something we've never experienced before even though we've been here before. The waiter is unfriendly, you're ignored when you ask where the order is, I often forget something with a cheeky grin on my face. The only positive thing was the food was the last time for us and we can't recommend it anymore!!!!!!!

Music too loud. Ambience not so nice (open cables on the wall). Very simple. Prices okay. Unfortunately, the fish was fried completely dry on one side and therefore not worth the money. The salad and the side dish were saved with portions that were too small. Wouldn't come again.

The quality is right, because Mom cooks, particularly delicious fish and typical Portuguese cuisine upon reservation, we can only recommend it... Always order a table during the season, then you are on the safe side!!

It's a disgrace what this wretch of a "waiter" has done. After we got the last table near the entrance to the kitchen and my father almost fell off his chair because the floor was so uneven, we nicely asked for another table. Some tables were reserved later. The waiter couldn't offer us another table because everything was supposedly reserved. We couldn't sit outside either. And he told us that we were the last ones to reserve and only this table had been reserved for us. Nonsense. We reluctantly stayed there and ordered. After 40 minutes the food still wasn't there. Meanwhile, we were approached by other guests who had observed the situation. They noticed everything and said that the way they treated us was a disgrace. We waited almost 1 hour for our food. The waiter made us wait extra. There is no doubt about that. Later we wanted the bill and told us three times. We also asked him whether he had forgotten us. His answer, “No, not me,” sounded very ironic. Afterwards he (or she - you don't know) served other guests, brought wine outside and chatted and giggled with his colleague. 15 minutes later we picked up the bill ourselves at the bar and left. It's sad when you take your frustration out on strangers. 👎👎

We were there for dinner. The food was well prepared and definitely worth its price. The restaurant was wwll booked and reservation is necessary.

Das Essen ist wirklich gut . Allerdings die Lautstärke und der Service sind unterirdisch. Es wird einen auf den Tisch geknallt so nach dem Motto hier hast du . Null Freundlichkeit oder Service z. B.. das Getränk eingießen. Es rennen Kinder durch den Laden und es wird durch den ganzen Laden geschrien obwohl man am Essen ist , das geht garnicht . Wir möchten in Ruhe unser Essen genießen . Wenn man null Lust auf den Job hat und so ein Gesicht zieht sollte man es wirklich lassen.

The service is below every level. Friendliness is definitely not the strength of the restaurant. I'm never going there again.

We came without a reservation and were allowed to sit at the counter. The service was very friendly and when a table became available we were allowed to change. The food was excellent and the portions were large. We felt very comfortable and will come back.

The story of eating at “O Cantinho” or “The Bent Fork”. First, the first impression when you enter the restaurant - you want to leave quickly. The ambience is terrible. So it's an old warehouse, no problem. But why do you cover the ceiling with beautiful blue cloths when the walls are full of installation pipes and partly open cable ducts? A nice ambience could have been created here with a few chipboards and a few hundred euros. So to the menu. We wanted to eat Portuguese, but unfortunately there is almost no Portuguese food on the menu. The few Portuguese dishes that are there have to be ordered in advance. Okay, let's move on to the appetizer. The starter menu includes bread, garlic sauce, fries, fried potatoes and two Portuguese starters. French fries as an appetizer, really? So I'll take "Portuguese Tappas". Uhhh, so the salad is shaken lettuce from the supermarket bag. There are strangely pureed foods fried in an incredibly thick breading. I can't identify it, unfortunately the map doesn't say what it's supposed to be. Then, as I try to pick up the bag of salad, my fork bends over. Real 2mm sheet metal cutlery. I couldn't believe it, my wife and I had a fit of laughter, but I took a photo. It was then that I noticed that instead of the normal cutlery as usual in the restaurant, you got a paper square with tin cutlery and a napkin in it - like in the Rsatstätte, great. To the credit of the restaurant - the main course was excellent and the service was good. So the chef knows his craft. It's just a shame that there was nothing Portuguese. If you could convert the inside of the warehouse into a restaurant and equip it with fresh salad and reasonable cutlery, as well as a few Portuguese dishes that you don't have to order in advance, that would certainly be good.

You feel like you're in Portugal. The Cataplana fish stew we ordered in advance was very tasty again this time, after we unfortunately didn't like it that much last time. The other fish dishes we ordered were also delicious. Unfortunately, the fried potatoes were only available with bacon, which was out of the question for us. All in all, it's always a bit like a holiday in Portugal when we're here. This also includes the somewhat chaotic but friendly service.

The o cantinho is not fancy, but simple and honest. It has well-cooked Portuguese fish home cooking, we would never order anything else there. So: choose from the specialties to be pre-ordered on the menu and reserve this order in advance. Then a glass of Sagres or Vinho Verde and a paste ice cream for dessert (if it hasn't already been eaten 😫) Afterwards, the table would be completely dirty in the best case scenario from the stuffed seafood in tomatoes and piripiri, the stomach would be deliciously filled, the comparatively more than moderate bill for the goods delivered would be sumptuously rounded up and we would go home satisfied. If you like it fancy, go somewhere else. Us too, sometimes. But not today 😍.

Nachdem uns gesagt wurde, daß es keinen Fisch und auch keine Bratkartoffeln mehr gibt, haben wir uns letztendlich für ein Schnitzel mit Champignonsoße und Pommes entschieden. Die Pommes waren völlig versalzen, das Schnitzel war ein aus Formfleisch "zusammengesetztes Etwas", welches genau wie die Soße auch völlig versalzen war. Kurzum, wir haben selten so schlecht gegessen. Ich würde empfehlen dieses "Menue" von der Speisekarte zu streichen! Ob der Fisch eventuell gut geschmeckt hätte, kann ich leider nicht beurteilen. Merkwürdig war auch, daß von Gästen, die nach uns bestellt haben, Gerichte mit Fisch und Bratkartoffeln erhalten haben...

Yesterday my sister and I (both pregnant) had dinner here with my parents. We got a table on the terrace because everything inside was reserved, which surprised us a lot because we were told by phone that a reservation wasn't possible. When it started to rain heavily in the middle of dinner, we had to carry our plates, drinks, all of our backpacks and bicycle bags in alone (under the supervision of the service team). At this point there were several tables available inside. So we asked if it would be possible to finish our meal at the table for a moment. This was immediately denied - all the guests would come right now - we could eat at the bar if there was anything available. We then sat down standing at the bar and were immediately asked to pay for our food. You felt compelled to wolf down the food. When my sister wanted to get her plates from the terrace, the door was closed and she asked for new plates, whereupon a lady from the service team unlocked the terrace door and wanted to give us the completely wet plates. Only when another guest intervened and said that there were two new plates to be found did she get two new ones. When we left there were still at least 6 tables available. Apparently they didn't feel like cleaning the tables again after us. We've really never experienced anything like this before. We certainly won't be coming back!

We would have liked to eat there and sat down at the table with a single, very nice lady. Then the waitress explained to us that strangers at a table would not be served. So we weren't allowed to sit at the table for 6 people. We are still wondering whether it was stupidity, greed or wealth that wanted to see our sales at another restaurant.

The staff is arrogant and super slow. You really have to ask twice for everything, otherwise they will forget. Food was good but nothing special.

I was finally able to enjoy crabs again. With fried potatoes and fried potatoes. Delicious without end. 👍🤣

Unfortunately, the service was neither attentive nor well informed. I asked what different fish fillets were included with the platter and was told completely different ones than what I was given. Since I can't tolerate salmon and I was also told I would have plaice, I unfortunately couldn't eat half of it. A pity. A short trip to Portugal. We went with friends for food there and were surprised by the deco. It looks exactly like a restaurant in Portugal. The service were friendly and the food good and the price is really really good. We enjoyed it a lot and a tip if you are into digestive, order the Soli Sombra a anis schnapps with cognac.

Quality service, one of the best Portuguese restaurants I had the pleasure of visiting in Germany. Friendliness and good disposition on the part of all workers, cozy and spacious space, very spacious and sanitized bathroom. Very tasty food, salad with wonderful dressing and the starter roll with garlic butter and garlic cream is undoubtedly one of the best I've ever tasted. Homemade desserts and coffee that complete a meal with 5*. I recommend it and hope to return soon! Thanks! 😊

We went on the recommendation of friends after we didn't really want to go there because of the many negative reviews. We ordered a table over the phone and registered our dog right away. No problem The reception was friendly. The restaurant makes a good impression. The menu is balanced. We ordered fish soup first and as the main course the sailor's plate and the house plate with 4 fried fish. All very tasty. The service was courteous and quick. Unfortunately we have to deduct one star because we found out at home that we were overcharged for one garlic sauce and one drink. If that doesn't happen next time, the 5th star will be added.

However, the calamari tasted more like frozen food. €9.50 for shrimp in a potato nest, although there wasn't even a shrimp in every nest, is pretty cheeky in my opinion. Went to O Cantinho at 5:30pm without a reservation. Unfortunately, we were only offered a table directly at the entrance, all other tables were reserved. Since we wanted to try out the restaurant, we took the table. As a starter we had Portuguese tapas and as a main course we had the fish platter for two people. The food was okay, but unfortunately nothing more. We are used to much better things from Bar Lisbon on Fahrenholzstrasse and SAGRES in Döse. Unfortunately the service was nothing at all. The service staff walked past our table several times. There is no question as to whether the food tastes good or whether we would like to drink something else. On top of that, other guests arrived after us who hadn't made reservations. And oh wonder, there were still some of the supposedly reserved tables available. Is this how you treat customers? For us it was definitely the first and last time at O ​​Cantinho on President-Herwig-Straße. We'd rather spend the money at Bar Lisbon. At Liliana and Filipe's, the food, drinks and service are always great. Then you are also happy to give tips.

The atmosphere is unfortunately very spartan, white paper tablecloths, uncomfortable old rickety tables and chairs, interior design more than rustic! 2. After 15 minutes we were asked for drinks, the 4 main courses (octopus) came almost 10 minutes later, no go!!! The two young waitresses seemed listless, arrogant and also unfriendly! We won't be going there again, overall disappointing!

Echt portugiesische Cantiho. Grobe urige Holztische, die Wände wie in Portugal. Das Essen super, quantitativ und qualitativ einfach erste Sahne. Beim Essen aber vorher ins Netz gucken, einige Speisen gibt es nur auf Vorbestellung. Das Personal freundlich und hilfsbereit. Der einzige kleine negative Punkt, es ist sehr laut wenn es voll ist. Wir kommen auf jeden Fall im nächsten Jahr wieder.

Authentisches portugiesisches Fischrestaurant mit sehr freundlichem Personal, das sich besonders nett um kleine Kinder gekümmert hat. Die Portionen sind sehr reichhaltig und man kann einen „guten Hunger“ mitbringen.

Die Garnelen sind wirklich top.
