NOOIJ /DUTCH DELI in Düsseldorf

Unfortunately, I can't recommend this restaurant. I came here alone and mentioned it at the entrance. I was seated at a table for four and specifically asked if that was okay. I was told it wasn't a problem. Less than five minutes later, I was asked to move. Then I was moved again – supposedly the seat was reserved. My jacket and bag were simply put somewhere else by an older gentleman, about 70 years old, because I had briefly gone downstairs to look at the cakes. When I wanted to order cake, I was given a strange look: For breakfast?! I ended up just having a drink. Conclusion: I wouldn't come here again. I found the way I was treated very unpleasant – perhaps because I was alone. Only star: The cappuccino was good.

The cakes looked good, the staff were very friendly, BUT: there was a really big bone in my chicken burger. I've had a few chicken burgers before, but I've never had one with a 5cm chicken breast with skin (which makes it inedible). When I finally bit into a large bone, the whole thing was round. €22 and a dish that simply wasn't worth the wait. Unfortunately, I didn't take a picture. Once is enough for me.

My mother-in-law and I were very satisfied, the food was plentiful and tasty and also looked very good and the service staff was also very accommodating, very polite, not pushy at all and super nice, it wasn't our last meal there I had the goat cheese with salad and sweet potato fries and a piece of cake and my mother-in-law had falafel with hummus and fries and, as she says, it was also very tasty, we were full and satisfied

I actually always like to go to Nooij for brunch - but on Sunday I was there for the first time when it opened at 10 a.m. Unfortunately, the organization here is a disaster - all reservations start at the same time at 10. We had to wait almost 30 minutes until our order was taken, the hot drinks came after 50 (!) minutes. I won't go here again at this time.

Four of us spontaneously went to the Dutch Deli on a Sunday. We were greeted quite unfriendly and taciturnly by the gentlemen at the reception. We were then offered a place for 1 1/2 hours, which we completely agreed to. Our waiter often pointed out to us that we just didn't have much time. When we FINALLY went back towards the exit, our waiter said mockingly that we'd better make a reservation next time (there won't be a next time!!) Overall, the service was very impersonal and felt a bit like a check-in. The food was perfectly fine and had a good portion. The price is rather upscale... The location is really nice, but very loud.

NOT recommended for breakfast anymore. Complete mass processing at a level where some franchises are better. Admittedly, cakes and waffles are always good. But everything else is unfortunately overpriced and tastes average. 🤷🏼‍♂️ Unfortunately, that won't go away with kindness

Hello. I can't rate the place positively. The shed is totally cold. When we asked if we could sit under a heating lamp, we refused because there were only four of us. The food (spare rips) was not "butter tender" as described, but "dry and tough. The BBQ sauce was so terrible, it would have been really good to use as a varnish. 17.70 euros for 2 small pieces was a cheek. They want to pretend to be great cuisine here, but only the prices are above. I told the service accordingly, but unfortunately nothing came except "I'm sorry." 60 euros for 2 people is already an announcement. We are Went to the PUR Musical cold and hungry. We definitely won't be coming back.

Weekends are usually busy, so the food takes a little longer. If you're prepared for it, that's okay.

Nooij Dutsch Deli, right at the Capitol Theater in Düsseldorf, offers a very small, clear menu that surprises with delicious dishes. The portions are generous and fairly priced - the sweet potato fries, the goat cheese salad and the spare ribs are really recommended. The atmosphere is simple, but the staff is very friendly.

Food tasty. Service seemed a bit annoyed. The atmosphere in the old industrial hall is something. It was just a bit drafty up in the gallery at times. In addition, you sit so close together that private conversations are hardly possible

Ordered the omelet with the smoked salmon. It tasted pretty bland, unfortunately nothing special. Maybe I‘ll give it another try next time

An absolute insider tip! The selection of Dutch specialties is diverse and absolutely delicious. I was particularly impressed by the fresh sandwiches and the typical Dutch delicacies. The service is very friendly and attentive, and the cozy atmosphere invites you to linger. If you are in Düsseldorf and want to try something new, you should definitely visit Nooij!

Uncompromising and bad atmosphere We made reservations for a birthday brunch with 14 people. The birthday child had called ahead to ask if they could bring their own cake and the answer was no. Another guest brought a cake without knowing this information. We asked if we could eat the cake in the restaurant, for example for a fee. But we were quickly interrupted by the owner, who didn't want to get involved in anything. Unfortunately, we couldn't change the restaurant so easily because the hostess had broken her leg and was using crutches. Although the owner has the right to insist on his rules, it would have been in the interests of both parties to be allowed to pay a fee to eat the cake, instead of us being upset about the wasted cake and the restaurant not making any further income from us because of us the mood was spoiled by the nature and outcome of the discussion.

I came here based on a good review, but unfortunately my experience was different. The manager didn't allow the dog to sit on his lap. I ordered the Poffertjes but they were cold and had no taste. We were a group of several people with two dogs, and the staff seated another guest with a dog right next to us. Our dogs started barking occasionally and after being there for 1.5 hours we were asked to leave immediately by the owner or manager. However, there was one member of staff who was nice, polite and took pity on us. But the way this restaurant is run perhaps needs to be reconsidered.

Good food but very unfriendly staff

It's spacious and stylish, and the food and drinks are delicious. The interior of the store is very stylish and there are flowers everywhere, which makes you feel relaxed. The staff is very friendly and the food is delicious. Although it is simple, the roasted chicken meat has just the right amount of elasticity and softness. The subtly sweet sweet potato poms that came with it and the crunchy waffle were also very good ♡

The three of us were at NOOIJ on a Saturday lunchtime and were very impressed. We looked at the menu beforehand. However, it is poorly signposted on site (it's hard to find the entrance) and it turned out that some of the dishes that were on the menu online were no longer available. We ordered a falafel plate, a breakfast plate and a burger. The dishes were very good in terms of taste and quality. Food and drinks tend to be in the medium to high price segment. The service was friendly, but sometimes you weren't noticed even if you made yourself noticeable. The ambience of the rooms is very nice, but there are hardly any individual tables. Because of the many guests there was a loud background noise. All in all, the NOOIJ in Düsseldorf is recommended. A table reservation is an advantage because the restaurant is busy.

Portion size: insufficient The atmosphere is quite nice. The service was okay, more requests for drinks would be welcome. The portion size is absolutely insufficient. During a Christmas party there was an acute risk of leaving the restaurant with a calorie deficit. Unfortunately, it wasn't even remotely possible to get full. On average, four people had to share the plates served. The quantities were extremely manageable and no deliveries were made. No seeing you again in the future. No recommendation.

Very good service! Food was great and the coffee was tasty. Maybe a little more expensive. But deserves 5 stars.

We had a table close to the window, it all started well. We were helped quite quickly, but that could also be because there was hardly anyone there. Then we went to order for dinner, we ordered 2 spare ribs for €19.90 euros. When the spare ribs arrived we couldn't believe our eyes, it was as if a children's menu had been shoved in front of us!! AND THAT FOR 20 EURO, MAN MAN MAN.

Really nice breakfast spot in Düsseldorf. I had breakfast here with my girls in a large group (20 people) and would recommend it to others at any time! The communication beforehand worked great and on the day itself, the service was very friendly and fast! We felt very comfortable and enjoyed the delicious and exceptional breakfast. Visit on a weekend. Arrived just at the time when they open and there’re already 7-10 group waiting. Nice service and atmosphere. The portion is giant! Ingredient is fresh. The side salad that seems to come with every dishes is quite tasty. Would suggest checking up the menu before deciding to come. The food is overall tasty though the toast can be done slightly better

Chic retro atmosphere made of steel and brick. Be sure to reserve on the weekend. Food was ok. You don't have to take a detour. But if you're nearby, I'd be happy to go again. Service was nice and quick. A little stressed because of the crowds. But otherwise great.

The club sandwhich was chickentastic

We were there for breakfast on a Saturday morning. At first we thought it would be quite loud, but it was packed. You can sit there for a long time without having a time limit. The food is really extremely tasty and something special. The service was also very good and nice, sometimes it could have been a little better trained as it seemed like it was just students. But still very friendly. Unfortunately the price was really really expensive.

Went there for brunch, my salmon brioche was cold, the poached egg was not runny and cold, in the coffee I found one hair. On my request the bun got heated up but still the sandwich was nothing special, too much hollandaise sauce covering the taste of the filling. My friend got a pastrami sandwich, with basically no pastrami in it, he complained, they weren’t surprised, just answered ‘that’s how we do it’. The carrot cake was full of cream couldn’t taste the carrots. Despite the very nice location and attentive service I wouldn’t go back, I was there for the food and left that I was very disappointed

Pastrami breakfast toast (18/19€€) with nearly no pastrami, a lot of burned toast and a huge amount of sauerkraut and some kind of cheap cheddar cheese. When I complained about the taste of burned toast and that for this price I could expect some pastrami, I was told that I already had a bite of it and that I could order something else, but surely have to pay for the pastrami dish and the new dish. A brioche salmon avocado dish came untoasted and one coffee at our table came with a hair in it. After having already a mediocre evening there with semi quality food, we wanted to give it another try for breakfast. Disaster! You better go dancing next door instead of falling into this trap.

On October 13th, 2024, the four of us visited your restaurant from 12:50 p.m. to around 4:00 p.m. and were looking forward to a nice dining experience together. Unfortunately, we found that the visit fell short of our expectations, although the food was very good after the initial corrections. We had the following orders in total: 8 Cola Zero, 1 iced latte, 1 tea, 1 espresso, 1 coffee, 4 ginger shots as well as Haarlem, 2x grilled country bread and the breakfast burger. Unfortunately, there were several misunderstandings and errors in the service, which made it difficult to enjoy the food together. Despite the request that it be served without pickle, the breakfast burger was not prepared as requested. The fries were also served with the wrong dip, and instead of 2x country bread we received 2x Haarlem - a mistake that the waitress made, but which disrupted the process. In addition, the extra mustard for the Haarlem was missing. What particularly disappointed us wasn't the fact that mistakes happen - that's human nature. But unfortunately no real effort was made to improve the dining experience despite the glitches. The waitress simply mentioned that we were “incredibly unlucky” and that there were too many small errors at the same time. However, instead of addressing the situation and, for example, waiving the ginger shots or a drink as a small gesture, they simply explained that this was “not bad enough” to offer something. The fact that we received a more expensive dip and were asked to keep it despite the extra cost, otherwise the order would have to be completely re-recorded, also left a bad taste in our mouths. In the end it's not about the €135 we paid for the meal or the tip we still politely gave. It's about the guest experience and how problems are handled. Your employee was friendly, but we simply lacked the willingness to actively address the deficiencies and make us feel like our well-being was the focus. I hope that you will accept my comments as constructive feedback, and I would be pleased if future guests in similar situations were more accommodating.

The two of us went there for breakfast and paid a total of around €60. The coffee alone was a disappointment. The food was okay, but the coffee was absolutely undrinkable. For this price I expect a lot more. We definitely won't be coming back.

Yes, I give it 3 stars, but a visit for us is no longer an option. The fries tasted like they had been in the deep fryer several times. Another dish was quite bland and could have had more flavor. You should also think about the tipping situation. Probably “outrageous” is the best word here.

Middle-class people who want to be seen here. Young, somewhat overwhelmed staff, I'm partly sorry. Creepy reception: people who were not white were not offered a seat. However, when someone came who seemed more into the restaurant's “taste,” she was immediately asked if she wanted to sit down. Amazement that we belong together. Behind the reception desk there is an Israel flag with the words “no ifs and buts”, whatever that means.

I dined there with a large group last year. The communication regarding the reservation beforehand worked well. Unfortunately we didn't like the food that much. Some hot dishes were served almost cold. There was also a mix-up with the orders, even though we had already given our dishes beforehand. When paying, most people gave a tip, even if we weren't really happy with the food or service. Nevertheless, we were expected to give more and we were indirectly asked to give at least 10%. In the end it was too stupid for me. I just gave them 10%, but I certainly won't be coming back. That's just audacious! In Germany there is no obligation to tip.

Everything is right here. Beautiful ambience with artistic impetus. Great food, friendly served. Very crowded on weekends, so reserve a little in advance! We always enjoy coming back for brunch. Crazy cakes!

The food is, with extreme good will, fine. But far from tasty. The prices are absolutely ridiculous, really ridiculous. €18 for a pastrami sandwich that's chewy enough to pull cars with is just audacious.

Atmosphere is very good - place looks well-designed and is spacious. The staff is very friendly. Portion sizes are good and the food is fresh. There were just some mix ups with our dishes (although we just ordered as described on the menu - no extras or so). The fries weren't good (cooked too short) and the coffees were okayish but the rest was quite good. Price is somewhat higher but fair for that quality. Would come back :) Edit: why do you ask if there is a special occasion while booking if there is nothing special (like a piece of cake for birthday person or so) to it?

We booked the group breakfast for over 10 people. The service was great, there were a lot of waiters around. The breakfast cake stands were beautifully presented, varied and there was something for everyone. I also really liked the ambience. However, I noticed two negative points: the second course of pancakes didn't even have a pancake for each person, so we ordered more with a surcharge. I thought that was a shame and I had imagined it differently. I was a little annoyed by the bottles of still water, which were obviously tap water, but were still charged for, I think, €5 per bottle. All in all, we had a very nice brunch.

We were there to try something new and especially for coffee and cake. The latte tasted ok, but nothing special. And the cakes were just way too sweet for my wife and I. In itself a very cool location but a tad too loud, even if at the time less than 30% of the seats were occupied and, above all, no small children :-))). Service was good and there's really nothing to complain about. I can't say anything about the food.

Hiking for Bitterballen was my motto for May 1st. 20km there and then back again and the Nooij made it a perfect training lap. The bitterballen were great and as a huge Holland fan, just right. The sweet potato fries were also great. All in all a successful visit. Thank you for the little piece of Dutch in Düsseldorf 😘😘😘and the staff were also super friendly. Highly recommended 🥰🥰🥰

One of my favourite places to eat in Düsseldorf. The owners run this restaurant with heart, and makes sure that their staff shows this, too! Food is always delicious, cooked perfectly, and served within a reasonable amount of time. The cake selection is always to die for. Tip: if you can’t eat anymore, get the cake to go! If’ll be worth it. Go for brunch, coffee, or dinner, you’ll find something delicious to have at Nooij.
