Noah's Taverna in Hamburg

A must-visit for us on every trip to Hamburg. Unfortunately, it's a bit small and cramped... but the food is always excellent.

We regularly go here for lunch with our colleagues. The price, quality, and service are all excellent. You can get the lunch special for under €11, and we particularly enjoy the gyros plate or the gyros with Metaxa sauce. They also offer an all-you-can-eat gyros option for €19.90. The staff is very friendly and entertaining. The atmosphere is a bit rustic and not your typical Greek restaurant. We'll definitely be back and highly recommend eating here.

The greatest strength lies in the charmingly familial service. You feel warmly welcomed from the very first moment. The dishes are traditional and delicious. Not haute cuisine, but simply traditional. And that's precisely what makes us feel so comfortable there. No pretension, just down-to-earth and very tasty. We always love coming back. I've been to Noah's Taverna several times now. This Greek restaurant is run by friendly and welcoming owners. The food is just like what I've had in restaurants off the beaten tourist track in Athens. I haven't eaten more authentic Greek food back in Germany. I've always thoroughly enjoyed the various dishes, and they also have a delicious selection of wines, of which I particularly prefer the dry whites. I highly recommend Noah's Taverna.

Excellent Greek restaurant. You can see and taste that the food is homemade and not just thrown into the fryer like at other restaurants. The service was also very friendly, even though the place was full and they were a bit stressed. We'd be happy to come back next time we're in Hamburg.

Reservations can be made easily online. The food was excellent. We had the gyro with gravy and the grilled platter. The owner's wife, who served us that evening, was accommodating and extremely friendly. We'll be happy to come back next time we're in Hamburg.

I ate here yesterday (August 2, 2025) with friends. The food was really good, nothing to complain about. However, the gyro with Metaxa sauce could have been a little more generous. And one small suggestion for improvement: offer thicker fries with the dishes. The thin fries look a bit like McDonald's. Otherwise, the service was very friendly. The ambiance itself is a bit dated, but not a big deal.

Delicious food with super nice people

Delicious food at a fair price with generous portions—what more could you want? A family-run business with friendly service from the owner. That's what a "Greek" restaurant should be.

The young man behind the counter was very nice. The food was really cheap, and there was very little of it. But somehow we've never had any luck at the Grossneumarkt. They probably just rely on customers who never come back. The bifteki was supposed to have a feta filling, but it was just a garlic sauce. The salad was very poorly prepared, small, and served on the main course. The plates were made of some strange material that almost looked like plastic. The tzatziki was definitely not homemade, but more like garlic yogurt without feta or cucumber. Everything was very colorless and tasteless. Instead of the rice we ordered, we were served fries. The tomato soup was completely overpriced for its quantity and quality. Even the service couldn't make up for it. There was no ouzo at all...

Low price but unfortunately the food was too greasy (it was swimming in a bit of oil), which made it difficult for us to digest.

Großneumarkt in Hamburg. I highly recommend this restaurant. The hosts are so warm and attentive that we absolutely had to go back. And the food is fantastic. 👍

I didn't know the place, I was eating with a friend before a concert. We were very pleasantly surprised by the great, authentic Greek dishes. The starters are highly recommended, super fresh, prepared with great ingredients and a lot of love. The main course was also delicious. The team was very nice and sweet. Location & service are great. Unfortunately there isn't that much choice in terms of dishes, especially not for vegetarians. Prices are quite reasonable (10 - 15€ per dish). Food is tasty but average.

A true gem for Greek cuisine lovers! The food is absolutely fantastic – fresh, authentic and full of flavour. Every bite reminds you of vacation in Greece. I particularly enjoyed the meat dishes. The service is exceptionally warm and attentive. You feel welcome and well looked after from the first moment. Maybe because this restaurant is run by a Greek family! The atmosphere is cozy, although a bit old, which is why I give it 4 stars. But the quality of the food and the hospitality, especially from the host Marina, more than make up for it. Clear recommendation – I’ll definitely be back!

We were there and ate very tasty starters and the greeting from the kitchen was also very tasty. We were fed up with 4 gyros and 1 squid ring, although unfortunately they were a bit rubbery, so we got a free dessert. So the service and food are top notch. We'll be happy to come back.

Dies ist ein kleiner Grieche am Grossneumarkt. Die Reservierung eines Tisches ist schnell über die Webseite des Restaurants getätigt und schon kann es losgehen. Das Restaurant ist klein aber gemütlich, das Personal sehr gastfreundlich und der Ouzo hat auch nicht gefehlt. Die Portionen sind reichhaltig sowie die Speisen frisch zubereitet, das Preis-Leistungsverhältnis ist angemessen .

I spontaneously stopped by there with my partner on a Saturday evening. According to the sign, the shop was already closed but there were still people sitting there. We asked briefly if we could still go in and the kitchen was still open. My friend ordered a gratinated gyro plate with pommi. Was very tasty. Since I wasn't that hungry anymore, I just ordered tzatziki. Somehow I thought there would be bread, but I was given the tzatziki like yogurt xD I didn't know if you really eat it like that, but I got extra bread when I asked. Beforehand there was also warm, crusty bread with a garlic dip. The boss kept coming over with the Ouzo bottle, which of course was on the house :) Everyone was very nice and started conversations. It was a nice evening. If we are in Hamburg again, we would like to come back.

The food is very tasty and the portions are fair for the price. The staff are very nice and the atmosphere while eating is also good. I can only recommend the restaurant.

Visiting the restaurant for the second time. You always feel very comfortable in the restaurant: the warm welcome, the good selection of dishes and the friendly service complete the picture. You quickly start a conversation and want to visit the restaurant again and again.

Unfortunately, the gyro wasn't good and, despite a table reservation for 5 people, I was put in a folding chair in the aisle, which meant I had to keep making room for people.

Cozy little restaurant with a good selection of delicious starters and main courses. There is original Greek Mythos beer and the boss always comes through with the Ouzo bottle to refill - at the house's expense, of course! A fun evening is guaranteed.

Sometimes good gyros, sometimes not so good gyros. But all in all okay. People like to take it with them at lunchtime.

We ended up in this nice restaurant by chance. The welcome from the service staff was very friendly. Luckily we got a table for 2 people. The ambience was pleasant but not particularly special. The first impression of the card was a bit disappointing. Snack bar standard. Nevertheless, we dared to order the calamari and a grill plate (I can't remember the exact name). We then ate the best homemade calamari rings we have ever had. Thank you for this experience!!! The gyros were extremely tasty and had a super good taste. All in all, a real difference from the usual one. We left thrilled and full and will be happy to come back.

Very nice little Greek restaurant, simple but good. The menu is clear and there is also a lunch menu. The portions are reasonable as are the prices. I can recommend it. I'll go there again too. And it's easy to reach by bus and train.

This was really bad and you shouldn't eat here. There were three of us and at the beginning we were greeted nicely and shown to our table. The menu was a bit old and we noticed that there was gyros all-you-can-eat, which is usually not a good sign. A friend and I had the feta bifteki and another had the gyros plate. We were given some white bread in advance, which had been warmed up and wasn't fresh, and aioli cream from the tube. Then came the main course. My bifteki was very dry and it didn't taste like it had been grilled. There was some kind of tomato sauce on top that wasn't seasoned. The fries were very thin and dry. They were also frozen out of the bag. The coleslaw also came from a package from the supermarket. The tzatziki was probably homemade, but that was it. But my friend's food was even worse. It had the exact same sides but gyros and onions. The gyro was absolutely inedible. I think it was way beyond its time. Serving something like that is really a disgrace. My friend ate some of it and then let us try it. I've never eaten anything so inedible. I actually felt sick. We then let the food go back. But the service was nice and friendly. They can't help the bad food either. The ambience was standard and left an average impression. Conclusion: Nobody should really eat here. This shouldn't happen to a chef or "restaurant". A neighboring table also had its food returned. For me personally, it was probably the cruelest food I have ever eaten and is number 1 among the worst restaurants in the world, and I have often eaten street food in third world countries. I also have to mention that I really like Greek food and was really hungry because I was working all day, which is supposed to be the best cook... but in this case it didn't help at all.

Noah's Taverna is a real insider tip for lovers of Greek cuisine! As soon as you enter you feel welcome. The food is outstanding. We tried the gyros and the moussaka, both incredibly flavorful and perfectly prepared. The starters like tzatziki and saganaki were fresh and delicious. We were particularly impressed by the quality of the ingredients and the authentic flavors. The service is friendly and attentive without being intrusive. All in all, Noah's Taverna offers a thoroughly enjoyable dining experience. We'll definitely be back!

Recently I had dinner in this shop with my friends and I was particularly impressed by the friendly staff and the delicious food. When I tasted the food, I noticed that the chefs put a lot of effort into preparing the food with love. The staff are all friendly and listen to your requests, which made me feel like I was somehow at home. Overall, I definitely recommend this store and am already looking forward to the next time.

Cozy resturant, good food and good service at a reasonable price

Everything else was certainly not Greek, neither the chef nor the food. Anyone who enjoyed their meal here doesn't know any Greek restaurants. The missing imprint on the homepage says it all. By the way, it's mandatory!!!!

After a long time, after being disappointed, we tried it again. At least the store is still there. Yes, we were disappointed again. We ordered something to take away, which was ready on time and there was an ouzo on the house. But that was also the positive. Arrived home... fries were poorly seasoned and wobbly, so just not completely cooked. The slaw was almost all vinegar and whatever the meat was, it wasn't gyro. It was dripping fat and the seasoning was definitely not gyros seasoning, at least I don't know that, not even from Greece. Short, not edible Almost all of the food ended up in the trash. I can't understand the good reviews, unless everyone gets a bottle of ouzo before their meal, then the rest doesn't matter.
