Nicos Grill Taverne in Mönchengladbach

We didn't know Nico's Grill before because we had recently moved here. All three of us were very surprised. We ordered 3 different dishes for take-away. Curry sausage/fries, cevapcici plate and gyros plate with 2 Greek farmer's salads as side dishes (are part of the plate dishes). The fries alone were incredibly tasty, crispy on the outside, hot and soft on the inside, not too salty, but pleasantly salted. The curry sausage was excellent, the cevapcici excellent and the gyros extremely tasty and very well seasoned and fried. We only had a 5 minute walk home and it felt like we had dined at the grill restaurant. We were asked to wait 20 minutes while preparing the food and everything was ready after 15 minutes. The staff was very nice and highly professional, but also very friendly, helpful and kind. Card payment will only be available from around February 2025, but the dishes are worth every cent. The dining room's furnishings are timeless, functional and practical. The operation is hygienically perfect and highly recommended as a grill room.

Fries not salted and the prices and the taste of the food are really underground after the change of ownership. I'd rather go to Akropolis Grill in Rheindahlen, where Nico now works.

The owner has changed!!! Disaster!!! Two attempts both a big failure. The first time, the order took quite a long time due to communication problems. . The food/gyros we ordered was dry, the tzatziki was little and the fries were lukewarm. The Crete plate was by no means better. We thought it could happen. There are new owners who first have to find their way around. Today it was another failure!!!! Ordered for three people and when we got home it turned out that only two dishes were packed. The quality wasn't particularly great either. Unfortunately, it was not possible to make a complaint by telephone because the telephone connection did not work. We don't want to make a third attempt. We are disappointed and miss the “old owners” 🥲

For many years we have been getting the delicious and high-quality snack-level gyros plate at Nico's Grill and were prepared to travel several kilometers to get there. This week we went back there to get food for the first time since the change in ownership and were very disappointed. There was about 25-30 minutes between ordering and taking the food away, even though there was only one other customer there. When we ate the gyros plate at home, we discovered that the quality of the food was poor. The gyros was very burnt and very dry in large parts. The French fries were not crispy, very sticky and not salted. Before ordering, the number of gyros dishes and their prices were not visible because the overview board above the fryers and grill was badly damaged. We probably won't visit Nico's again because the food was so bad. Price of the gyro plate: € 12,-

Had dinner there with friends last night. It was tasty and sufficient! But the staff was outstanding. Friendly and accommodating. We had never eaten there before and were welcomed like long-time guests. After the meal there was a Christmas cookie and, when I showed off my modest knowledge of Greek, I also got an ouzo on the house!

Under new management and with fresh people. I haven't been there in ages, but this first experience with the new staff was great. The food was delicious, the portion was generous, the fries were nice and crispy (there was one tiny drawback: I missed the salt, I'll mention that next time). Otherwise I have nothing to complain about.

Last night my friend took us two currywursts with fries around 8 p.m. At home I noticed while eating that the fries were warm, but unusually hard, I didn't think anything of it and ate them anyway because I don't like throwing food away, especially these days with the prices. It occurred to me today when I woke up after the diarrhea that the fries were probably fried twice. 🤮 never again

Last night I ordered 2x fries with currywurst, the fries were rock hard and tasted like they had been fried for the second time. Three hours later, severe stomach pain with vomiting and diarrhea. In the store you won't be told the time of day or even smiled. Never again!

Under no circumstances should you try your luck there, unfortunately I did it twice. Fries greasy, in old fat, really terrible, you can't do something so simple. Schnitzel, also fried in old fat, also bad. A gyro is also served, which is similar in color and taste to charcoal, I don't think it was invented that way. It's a shame to serve charred gyros under tzatziki so that it doesn't attract attention and get to people. Unfortunately, even the tzatziki was unsatisfactory, not light but very sour. Criticism, not appropriate, even if Gyros is visibly burnt black. I'm in the field, I get around, but this is one of the worst snack bars I've eaten at. It's the operator's luck that the positive reviews seem to come from people who probably don't know other snack bars.

Impersonal reception, the chicken was overly seasoned, I also reported that and the response came from the guests.🥴

Greek snack, ordered gyros with fries and zarziki. Portion was very decent and tasty for €10.

We have been customers for years and regularly eat there once or twice a month. And it will stay that way because it is as delicious as always. We can recommend it because the owners are also very friendly.

Typically Grichisch, you can still stand behind the counter yourself, fresh, well seasoned and cheap prices. The ambience is like a snack bar, this is where you go for delicious food.

The current owner is the best.Very friendly and everything tastes good.Very clean.Good portions with a lot of effort. The gyros is always top notch Zatziki is always fresh and the best around. Top address! I often drive 30 km to the grill. The long journey is always worth it. The gyros were top class again today!!!!!

Very good food. We ordered Greek pita and fries. Fresh, delicious, served very quickly. The only thing they don't have is still water, but that's a small minus. Toilets in the pub. Parking spaces next to the premises. Kaufland supermarket nearby. Delicious food in a small, roadside El Greco! We ordered Greek pita. It contained delicious, juicy meat, fries, tratziki sauce, and feta cheese. The dish was supplemented with sauerkraut, which complemented the flavors perfectly. The dishes were served quickly, were fresh, warm and very good. I recommend!

Gyros are well seasoned, but there is far too much fat in them.

Here you can still get large portions at a fair price. Gyros is okay, but could be a little spicier. The meat lacked a bit of a special taste. The tzatziki was again very tasty. The staff may have been having a bad day, but were arguing loudly during my visit. Nevertheless, the service followed quickly. There is plenty of seating on site for snacks. Ambiance is a bit outdated, but completely functional. However, if you suffer from claustrophobia, you should only use the toilets in an extreme emergency.

Was für wundervolle Menschen. Vielen lieben Dank für den freundlichen Service heute am Feiertag. Ich bin heute Mittag bei einem Spaziergang mit meiner 83 jährigen Mutter im Rollstuhl an Nicos Grill vorbei gegangen und sie hatte Lust auf Pommes. Ihr Wunsch wurde ihr erfüllt, sie hat jede einzelne Pommes genossen.

Alles in allem ein guter Imbiss mit sehr nettem Personal. Das Grillhähnchen ist mein Favorit. Fällt vom Knochen und ist sehr lecker gewürzt.

Der Gyrosteller ist OK, die Portionen sind bißchen größer als letztes Jahr ABER... nicht zu vergleichen mit dem Gyrosteller vom Michael an der Peschstr.

Der Gyros ist top, für mich mit der beste in der Umgebung. Alles andere schnitzel, Hähnchen und so ist ok aber dafür geh ich auch nicht zum Griechen.

Bester Gyros in der Umgebung. Super lecker! Hier wird noch einiges selber gemacht und nicht fertig gekauft.

Es ist immer frisches Essen; sehr nettes Ehepaar-Besitzer; ich hatte das Portemonnaie nicht dabei, trotzdem durfte ich das Essen bestellen und nechsten Tag bezahlen; saubere Räumlichkeiten... Ich werde immer wieder hier kommen...
