Unfortunately, I was very disappointed with my visit to the News Café. There was a tiny beetle crawling around on my plate, which I only noticed after I'd already eaten the burger. I suspect the lettuce in the burger wasn't washed thoroughly. In a restaurant, you should naturally expect vegetables to be prepared hygienically. Especially given my current situation—I'm pregnant—I'm worried about potential health consequences. Unfortunately, this was a very unpleasant experience for me.

The News Café was a disappointment. While the food was delicious, we had to wait an extremely long time without any information. Then the food and drinks arrived incorrectly, the service was unfriendly, and the place was in a very unkempt state. There were cobwebs in the corners and spiders. Overall, a truly unpleasant experience.

We were unfortunately a bit disappointed. We were a large group of ten people and wanted to spend a nice evening there – something to eat and something to drink. Unfortunately, they didn't have any non-alcoholic wheat beer or Sprite. Whether you want to mix Sprite into your beer or not is debatable – but in a business of this size, something like that should be available. The food was overall rather mediocre, the salads didn't seem fresh, and some dishes weren't available at all. All in all, it was really disappointing. If you're looking for a nice evening with good food, I wouldn't recommend the News Café at the moment. There are several restaurants in the area that are much more appealing.

A very nice location, also for relaxing. We only had coffee/cake/shopping, so this is the only rating for that.

We had an incredible dinner at News Cafe in Papenburg! It was such a beautiful atmosphere, right on the water - a stunning place to finish the evening 💜 I got the burger and it was DELICIOUS - super tender and a large portion of meat too. The service was amazing, fast and our server was super attentive and friendly. Such an amazing experience, I would definitely recommend this restaurant to anyone visiting Papenburg!

I want to write my review of News Café not only as a visitor, but also as someone who applied for a job there. At first, everything went quite well. The waitress who was supposed to show me around was friendly and gave me tips on what I could do better. However, when I got to the kitchen, I saw that it was terribly dirty and completely unsanitary. Furthermore, the tables and floors were often dirty, especially where people were smoking. I was supposed to go for my second trial shift tomorrow. I entered the schedule in my calendar with the waitress I had previously communicated with. Today, she texted me that I was supposed to work today. In short: complete disrespect for potential employees. They don't value people's time. I don't recommend it if you care about your health!

Beautiful location with a great patio. Excellent food with generous portions. Staff was fantastic, right from the greeting and throughout the meal. They speak excellent English and understood everything we asked, including special requests for my daughter’s food allergies. Highly recommend!

After a long break, we came back here. The waitress recognized us right away and even remembered what we were eating and drinking. We always enjoy coming here. The burgers used to be better. These days, you can definitely get better food elsewhere for that price. The rest is okay. The service is poor. It takes far too long to be served. Paying also takes a long time. Furthermore, you're not even asked if everything's okay or if you need anything else. The ambiance is very nice thanks to the beautiful location in central Papenburg. All in all, you can come here if you just want a bite to eat and have plenty of time.

I can't recommend it. We waited over an hour for our food, and then the steak was cooked through and the rest was cold. They had technical issues, but we weren't told. The entire staff was completely overwhelmed. We won't be going back.

An attractive café with a central location, a lovely terrace overlooking the city park. Friendly service, and the breakfast was actually good, but they were misleadingly offered two rolls. One was regular-sized and the other was a mini, which was a shame because it was delicious and the tea was highly recommended. Wheelchair accessible. I'd be happy to go back.

Unfortunately, many of the new employees are often treated unfairly by her. We don't hear what's going on there, but we hear her talking to the girls. There's a lot of loud swearing and shouting going on right behind the counter. We don't understand why this is happening in front of the customers... For this reason, we won't be coming back here. We always enjoyed spending time there, but now we'll be looking for a new, cozy café. Also, my review isn't about the café itself, but rather about not losing any more customers. A good atmosphere makes a big difference. I don't want to be rude, but it's fine to have a nice scent on hot summer days. In a restaurant, guests place a lot of value on well-groomed staff.

Despite the attractive decor and cozy atmosphere, I can't give it more than one star. The most important thing in a café, the food and drinks, left a lot to be desired today. Of the six drinks we tried, we found ants and flies in two of them. This makes you start to wonder what, if any, hygiene standards are being met.

Unfortunately, everything turned out to be the opposite. The food wasn't tasty; the spaghetti was too salty and had been soaked in water for too long. The shrimp was frozen and hard. The service was a bit lackluster. Therefore, fewer stars.

Not really!!! No glass of tap water, for example, with a cup of espresso, but I was offered a glass of tap water by the manager and co-owner if I paid €2.90. So, not exactly recommendable to me. (But every dog ​​gets water.) I have a different idea of ​​service.

I give this restaurant a full 5 stars. I had a delicious pasta with shrimp here. My request for a change of menu was accommodated in a friendly manner. I didn't get any strange looks either, as I was the only person who requested a table for four and then enjoyed a relaxing cocktail afterward. Remarkable!

You buy nachos for around €7 and expect something delicious and special, but they couldn't even top the good & cheap nachos. Something should change!

Went yesterday May 11th. there! Very friendly service! They were all young people, but on the ball. My experience was completely different. Food was good. And our needs were taken into account. It certainly wasn't the last time on our vacation.

A nice location in itself, but the outside area is not in line with the inside area, tables with waste compartments...yuck, stained upholstery, tables not wiped down, cigarette butts in the gravel...that's not possible, someone would have to feel responsible here for the ambience to be right.

We've been there several times. Pizza and tarte flambée are good. The last two times I wanted to order a finger food plate that was on the menu, but both times they said they didn't have it anymore. Alternatively, I ordered Jägerschnitzel with fried potatoes, unfortunately everything was dripping in frying fat - schnitzel as well as the fried potatoes. Too bad. In addition, the last time there was no salt, it tasted pretty bland. I've been balancing my cholesterol levels for a long time now, but a salad bowl for around €15 would really be too expensive for me.

We chose an outdoor seating area with a waterfront location and beautiful flowers. The service staff are friendly and attentive, the burgers and fries are very tasty and the price-performance ratio is right.

The two of us ate here. Unfortunately, at 7:30 p.m. there was no more pizza dough. So then I switched to spagetti carbonara. Almost €14 for a small handful is a disgrace. Unfortunately, getting full wasn't an option for me that evening. I also found the drinks disproportionately expensive. Card payments from €10 are unfortunately out of date for 2025 when you can pay cents with a card at every discounter.

Hello, we were in the suburbs yesterday, as Papenburgers you actually know that you shouldn't eat there. My last bad experience was about five years ago and we thought we would give it a second chance. However, I was extremely disappointed, my companion ordered a bowl in which the leaves were brown and already mushy, making them difficult to scrape and inedible. I have to say that the prices are overpriced at €14.30 for a bowl. I ordered a burger with a side dish, it not only looked bland but was just dry and tasteless. In fact, I opened the burger and lo and behold there was a tiny blob of ketchup in the middle of the bun and a tiny slice of tomato, the lettuce was also already wilted, brown and mushy, like fries without salt or spices, so completely tasteless and that for A whopping €19.40. The only plus point in this case was the service and the location… It's really a disgrace what they want to sell there as food, from today on we won't set foot in there anymore, which is a real shame because it's a really nice place there in the middle of the city park.

I was in this cafe recently and it was an extremely frustrating experience! We ordered a chocolate cake but were served the wrong dessert. When we realized the mistake, the cake was simply taken away from us. But the worst part was that we also had to pay extra for something we didn't order! Unprofessional service and absurd prices. NEVER AGAIN!

Well, unfortunately it's not enough for the demands you might want. Lots of things worth improving. For example, mozzarella sticks are not really of better quality than frozen ones from Lidl, at least the last time we were there. Cocktails are only available from 6 p.m. and after the first service at the table, no one came to our table. Well, okay so far, but nothing more and there is still a lot of room for improvement.

We only ordered 3 beers and they finally arrived after about 30 minutes. When I finally wanted to drink, we noticed that there was a worm-like brown goo floating in our glass. We then went to the counter with it and were still supposed to pay in full. Next time I'd rather go back to Jamesons opposite!

Cafe is right next to the city park. Food delicious so far. You can also drink coffee and eat cake there. Staff is friendly. Unfortunately there is no information about the cake and waffle prices on a map.

We were there spontaneously because we wanted to visit the Meyer Werft shipyard in Papenburg and we didn't like the restaurant we were looking for. Very nice location and the schnitzel was freshly prepared as the knocking could be heard from the kitchen. It's quietly located next to a body of water and it's certainly very nice in the summer when you can sit outside. We probably won't come back, but we highly recommend it. The meat was tender, the dark hunter's sauce was made with fresh mushrooms and the fried potatoes were very tasty. Three thumbs up!!

The kebab around the corner doesn't taste any worse, but it doesn't have these prices. There's no arguing about taste, but my personal impression is that it's not worth the money. I know the topping on the “pizza” from snack shops. Zero tomato taste, lots of cheese and the quality of the dough omg, the pasta was dry from carbonara only the name... oh what the heck... it's just a shame. It was really tasty once. The “best” is the men's toilet - not for the faint of heart and nerves... Picture attached... Invoice will be charged in full... Never, never again!

I ordered a breaded schnitzel with fries. Unfortunately, with a large shandy for €23.50, no snapper. The fries were undercooked and half of the schnitzel consisted of breading. The portion, however, was very good. The tables outside by the lake are very great.

Drinks on a construction site. Instead of a quiet view of the city park, we were allowed to witness the construction of a hut - with a circular saw and other equipment. Reaction of the service staff? Shrugging your shoulders, nothing else. No place to go again.
