Had a Jever with friends. Excellent atmosphere, but service need some improvement.

Are you serious? THAT is supposed to be a pizza? or pasta carbonara? So either your cook is a roofer by profession or I don't understand the world anymore. The kebab around the corner doesn't taste any worse, but it doesn't have these prices. There's no arguing about taste, but my personal impression is that it's not worth the money. I know the topping on the “pizza” from snack shops. Zero tomato taste, lots of cheese and the quality of the dough omg, the pasta was dry from carbonara only the name... oh what the heck... it's just a shame. It was really tasty once. Not everything used to be better, but sometimes that is true.

Delicious cake and coffee. Comfortable to sit. Very nice, stylish atmosphere with a view of the city park. Gladly again.

Nicely done, but not thought through. Seriously the coffee comes from the all in machine, for the price you can also expect a portafilter. The sandwich? What's with that big cheap thing?

Went out for dinner on Monday October 28 and finally ordered food. The lady serving herself adds a tip to the bill. Ordered €41.30 worth of food (I did the math) and I paid €50. Very anti-social to determine your own tip...

The food was really good, burgers and pulled pork were completely homemade, the conditions were really nice, and the price/performance ratio was also okay.

The fried potatoes weren't fried properly, but they're called 'Grandma's fried potatoes. Grandma would be ashamed. Too bad. Otherwise everything is really great!

Unfortunately I have to change my rating… The service is okay, nothing more than that. The food is subpar, I have never eaten such a bad, unseasoned schnitzel. The criticism is dismissed with “Ahh, sorry”. Apparently, after inquiry, it was confirmed that a fully qualified chef prepared the dishes. Chef in the system catering?!? The “best” is the men's toilet - not for the faint of heart and nerves... Picture attached... Invoice will be charged in full... Never, never again!

I ordered a breaded schnitzel with fries. Unfortunately, with a large shandy for €23.50, no snapper. The fries were undercooked and half of the schnitzel consisted of breading. The portion, however, was very good. The tables outside by the lake are very great.

Drinks on a construction site. Instead of a quiet view of the city park, we were allowed to witness the construction of a hut - with a circular saw and other equipment. Reaction of the service staff? Shrugging your shoulders, nothing else. No place to go again.

This Tuesday around 4:30 p.m. the News Café was really full, but the only waitress handled the situation impressively. Despite the busyness, she took time for each guest and ensured a pleasant atmosphere. The food was great: the burgers were juicy and perfectly seasoned, and the pizza was crispy and generously topped. Thanks to the friendly waitress and the great food, the visit was a complete success. We will definitely come back and highly recommend the News Café.

As expected from the menu and the prices, in my opinion, far too high given that there probably isn't even a trained chef working here, the food was an absolute disappointment. It borders on impertinent. - Fries completely soggy. Partly raw. - Pizza base seems to have completely stuck in the oven. - Meat not cooked to desired level. In terms of taste, it wasn't an experience, but rather worse than a frozen pizza. There is definitely a need for a change here. To be fair, the location should be highlighted, which is really great, and the staff couldn't be blamed either, as the interaction was friendly despite the 1 hour wait for food in an almost empty restaurant.

Unfortunately we had to wait an hour for our food, even though the restaurant wasn't full. My fries were soft and limp, and unfortunately some of the pizzas had no base because it probably got stuck in the oven. Unfortunately, this is the second time we've fallen on our faces there. Also really outrageous prices for food that you can get cheaper in other restaurants with better quality and taste. Ambiance is nice, but it's a shame that the food isn't good. Unfortunately we won't eat in this restaurant again… Drinks are ok though.

We've never eaten so badly. The dish only consisted of products from the freezer, which were then sold at overprices. Even though the plates were full and we asked the waitress that we didn't like the food, there was no discount.

In terms of price, I think this is a bit expensive, paying 20 euros for a burger and fries. 20 euros was my pain threshold. But I'd love to come back again :)

The News Café is a modernly furnished café with an outdoor area and a beautiful city park in front of the door. It invites you to linger and has consistently friendly staff. The prices are more in the middle to upper range. The seating is too uncomfortable for me, seat cushions would help... My favorite dish there are the hot pretzels from the oven with herb butter. Otherwise, the food is rather mediocre for my taste and that of my colleagues. Example: A salad with shrimps for €15.80 is more of a mixed green salad with lots of bunny vegetable chips on top, which tasted very strange and isn't healthy either. But it is not a restaurant but a café and that is recommended.

Looking for a place to have lunch we came here. A beautiful place by the water. Nice staff and fast service. Our food was really delicious. We would love to come back here!

Had a delicious meal here with my husband and daughter. Club sandwich with fries. Was delicious, included a fried egg. A small Coke Zero turned out to be a large glass. Very satisfied. Nice ladies serving and despite the rain we sat dry outside. Beautiful building inside and clean toilets. Nice view of the park.

Four of us had dinner there yesterday, Pentecost 2024. I just want to rate my order: Grandma's fried potatoes with fried eggs: Disastrous, hardly edible. Fried potatoes were soggy, not the least bit crispy, and were literally swimming in oil. Fried egg: Egg white fried dark brown (fried is more accurate). The yolk was hard like a hard-boiled egg. The egg was also floating in the oil, even though it was on top, and the greens were probably just doing their floating course. All in all: not edible. Most of it was returned with a note to the waitress. The succinct answer: "I'll tell the chef." Is there really a chef there? Really with training? It's a shame, in such beautiful surroundings a great meal could add to the value of the park. Well, at least McDonald's isn't far away.

As with the other reviews, the service is terribly bad. You are simply forgotten there or simply not served because the waiters prefer to talk to each other. A disaster!

Service last night was a disaster. If we hadn't gone to the counter ourselves to reorder and pay and asked if we could order or pay for something, we would still be there now. Just chatting with the barman but not there for customers.

Were in transit, unfortunately all other restaurants were closed from 2 p.m. or not open at all on Saturday. Food and service were not our thing at all. The lady who served us spoke English to us. She didn't even try in German and we weren't even asked if we wanted a bill. Pizza was overloaded with cheese, pizza bread was normal rolls.

This is my first time here at the News Cafe in Papenburg. And… everything was great! The drinks are cold, the food is hot. Grandma’s fried potatoes with fried eggs were great!!! The beer is fresh and the liquor is cold. 👍 Great, attentive staff who were somehow always there when I had a request! The ambience, well… more for younger people than me 😅… I've read in some other reviews that the price/performance ratio isn't right... dear ones... where do you live!?! The meal €11 and the tepuila €3… ABSOLUTELY appropriate for such a location!!! All in all: a really nice evening! Thank you 🙏

Very nice café with a great ambience, the breakfast buffet was very good, the service was very friendly and accommodating. The only small point of criticism would be, please give the cook/kitchen helper a "clean" apron 🤔

Cold food (spare ribs) on plates that are too small, very little food, extra plate for the bones and no cloth to clean your hands. The only thing that was good was the drinks, but the price was way too high. All in all, not recommended!!

Always very crowded at certain times but it's cozy and nice there. The price is also good for what you get. Unfortunately, the smoking area is extremely smelly, even smokers there say it's not nice. It needs to be ventilated more often.

It's a nice cafe. The location is also fantastic with a view of the lake and the park. Unfortunately the selection of cakes is rather small. But otherwise the food there is very tasty.

Ambience is great, food was nicely presented but not very tasty (pizza tasted more like cardboard, fries, well, too expensive)...You have to get a menu yourself but it's ok to get something to drink.

Rarely eaten so badly and overpriced. Staff prefer to have private conversations and joke around instead of serving guests. You can eat better in some kebab stalls. WE NEVER AGAIN!!!!

Good food, top prices and plenty!!

I think there has been a slight decline and at the same time the prices have risen sharply. Isn't a burger at around €19 a bit excessive? I think eating out is slowly becoming a luxury. A pity. Younger people in particular have to consider whether this is still affordable.

A beautiful place. The service and the ambience are great. Eating is not my thing right now. Convenience food and nothing special. But absolutely okay for a little something. Absolutely lovely in the summer with the outside seating. Great view of the beautiful park.

Friendly, bright café in the center of Papenburg, beautifully located next to the park and very nice outdoor seating in summer. The selection of drinks is excellent, but unfortunately the food is not. Unfortunately, a selection of freshly baked cakes, as you would expect in a café, is completely missing.

We had to wait from 5:55 p.m. to 6:15 p.m. for our drinks order, we wanted to choose food later. The drink order was taken. Afterwards the staff argued at the counter, not briefly. The drink order was not passed on. The heated discussion was interrupted when we left annoyed. I understand a lot in life, no value was placed on customers, otherwise with enough staff on site we could have acted differently with so few customers. It didn't take long for us and we were sitting in the next restaurant in pleasant surroundings. I and my partner did not give the News Cafe Papenburg a grade of unsatisfactory but rather unsatisfactory.

Nice atmosphere with a view of the park

It was our only opportunity to go to Papenburg in the afternoon for a coffee and a piece of cake... but the map gives the impression that we've ended up in a bistro or Italian restaurant - still has potential

Pretty good chocolate, I'd give it a 7. Atmosphere... let's say ok. The restaurant looks very good, it is excellently positioned, but it has one drawback, it smells terrible of food. From the moment you enter, you have the impression that you are entering a cheap shantytown in a border neighborhood. Please do something about the smell! It is quite unpleasant. For the local, due to this aspect, I would give it a 6. The staff... leaves a lot to be desired. I have to say, with regret, that the smile displayed somewhat by the facade, does not hide the lack of attention paid especially to new customers. For that the staff gets a 3. Maybe for Greece it's a good mark, but for me it's disappointing. And I want to mention that it's the second time I come to this place and unfortunately I didn't find anything changed. I wish you a wonderful day and I highly recommend you to visit the place at least once to contradict me 😜🙃

I recently went there for cocktails with my friends. The atmosphere is great. Cocktails were delicious and prepared quickly. Staff really nice. Only the waiting times between an empty glass and being able to order a new glass were long because the staff didn't come to the table on their own initiative to ask if we would like another drink. But there are worse things :D Otherwise, as already said, it is recommended. I can't comment on the food because I haven't eaten there yet. However, this will change at some point when the opportunity arises.

Das Cafe/Restaurant ist am Stadtpark gelegen und ca 100 m von der Hauptstrasse entfernt. Wie sind am Abend dort angelangt und habe auch recht schnell einen Tisch bekommen. Es war zwar besucht aber es hat sich in Grenzen gehalten. Ich denke das Cafe lebt im Sommer auf wenn man draussen sitzen kann. Nachdem wir freundlich begrüsst wurden, haben wir uns an einem Tisch niedergelassen und sogleich wurde die Karte uns gebracht. Wie freundlich man bedient wird hängt in diesem Haus sehr stark davon ab wer einem bedient. Ok wir wollen ja nur bedient werden und nicht in die Familie aufgenommen werden. Die Menuekarte ist modern und em Cafe angemessen. Wir haben einen Vorspeisenteller danach Burger und Spaghetti bestellt. Grundsätzlich war alles in Ordnung bis gut, aber auch nichts aussergewöhnlich gut. Die Portionsgrösse war dem Preis angemessen, also weder riesenhaft noch zu klein. Wie bei der Bedienung Licht und Schatten, die Pizzabrötchen z.B waren sehr gut, die bestellten Nudeln in Öl ertränkt und leicht im Geschmack. Zusammenfassung kann ich sagen, dass dorthin zu gehen war kein Fehler aber unbedingt nochmals hingehen würde ich jetzt auch nicht.

The News Cafe is definitely worth recommending. The food tastes very good, the staff is very friendly and the ambience is just right. If you have special requests, the boss is also happy to help.

Zentrale, schöne Location. Faire Preise f. Burger, Pizza & Co. Leider hat uns der Service sowohl am Anfang als auch hinterher beim Bezahlen vergessen, obwohl es nicht besonders voll war. Sonst alles ok.

Essen war sehr gut. Service war nicht sehr gut haben 30 Minuten auf den Kellner gewartet um unsere Bestellung aufzunehmen. War am 10.12 um 18 Uhr

Schönes Café in Papenburg. Essen war auch gut, aber leider war der Service nicht so super. Wir haben über ne halbe Stunde gewartet, dass wir überhaupt mal bedient wurden ( und es war so gut wie nichts los ). Ich finde es schade, dass der Service da so nachgelassen hat . Bin immer gerne da gewesen .

Gemütlich aber manchmal recht voll. Auch wenn es nicht voll ist muss man doch lange auf seine Bestellungen warten. Aber trotzdem sehr zu empfehlen
