A nice place in itself, but the outside area is not in line with the inside area, tables with waste bins... yuck, stained upholstery, tables not wiped, cigarette butts in the gravel... completely unacceptable, someone needs to take responsibility to ensure the ambience is right.

We've been there several times. Pizza and tarte flambée are good. The last two times I wanted to order a finger food plate that was on the menu, but both times they said they didn't have it anymore. Alternatively, I ordered Jägerschnitzel with fried potatoes, unfortunately everything was dripping in frying fat - schnitzel as well as the fried potatoes. Too bad. In addition, the last time there was no salt, it tasted pretty bland. I've been balancing my cholesterol levels for a long time now, but a salad bowl for around €15 would really be too expensive for me.

I had dinner with my mother at the News Café early in the evening. The café itself is clearly laid out and looks very attractive and clean. We chose an outdoor seating area with a waterfront location and beautiful flowers. The service staff are friendly and attentive, the burgers and fries are very tasty and the price-performance ratio is right.

The two of us ate here. Unfortunately, at 7:30 p.m. there was no more pizza dough. So then I switched to spagetti carbonara. Almost €14 for a small handful is a disgrace. Unfortunately, getting full wasn't an option for me that evening. I also found the drinks disproportionately expensive. Card payments from €10 are unfortunately out of date for 2025 when you can pay cents with a card at every discounter.

Hello, we were in the suburbs yesterday, as Papenburgers you actually know that you shouldn't eat there. My last bad experience was about five years ago and we thought we would give it a second chance. However, I was extremely disappointed, my companion ordered a bowl in which the leaves were brown and already mushy, making them difficult to scrape and inedible. I have to say that the prices are overpriced at €14.30 for a bowl. I ordered a burger with a side dish, it not only looked bland but was just dry and tasteless. In fact, I opened the burger and lo and behold there was a tiny blob of ketchup in the middle of the bun and a tiny slice of tomato, the lettuce was also already wilted, brown and mushy, like fries without salt or spices, so completely tasteless and that for A whopping €19.40. The only plus point in this case was the service and the location… It's really a disgrace what they want to sell there as food, from today on we won't set foot in there anymore, which is a real shame because it's a really nice place there in the middle of the city park.

In all good food, bur unfortunately my family has gotten sick multiple times. So maybe in rare amounts is good.

I was in this cafe recently and it was an extremely frustrating experience! We ordered a chocolate cake but were served the wrong dessert. When we realized the mistake, the cake was simply taken away from us. But the worst part was that we also had to pay extra for something we didn't order! Unprofessional service and absurd prices. NEVER AGAIN!

Well, unfortunately it's not enough for the demands you might want. Lots of things worth improving. For example, mozzarella sticks are not really of better quality than frozen ones from Lidl, at least the last time we were there. Cocktails are only available from 6 p.m. and after the first service at the table, no one came to our table. Well, okay so far, but nothing more and there is still a lot of room for improvement.

We only ordered 3 beers and they finally arrived after about 30 minutes. When I finally wanted to drink, we noticed that there was a worm-like brown goo floating in our glass. We then went to the counter with it and were still supposed to pay in full. Next time I'd rather go back to Jamesons opposite!

Unfortunately the service didn't come outside.. we left after half an hour

An expensive, slapped-on apple strudel without sauce, ice cream, decoration or anything. A nice, young, new girl, who had already taken the order, was introduced by her boss/manager. Absolutely no go. He also rudely informed me that I couldn't get tap water with my coffee, only the small bottle of still water for an incredibly expensive price. Thank you, you won't see us again

Normal trendy cafe with warm food. However, a star deduction here because the food does not meet expectations and is too expensive.

Never eaten so badly. Totally over salted and burgers don't taste good at all. You forgot to make a note of your reservation and that's why you got a really bad seat.

Cafe is right next to the city park. Food delicious so far. You can also drink coffee and eat cake there. Staff is friendly. Unfortunately there is no information about the cake and waffle prices on a map.

I haven't had a breakfast buffet on weekends since October...but it's still officially on their menu...

The café has an extra smoking area in the winter garden with a fireplace, very comfortable seating and super nice service

We were there spontaneously because we wanted to visit the Meyer Werft shipyard in Papenburg and we didn't like the restaurant we were looking for. Very nice location and the schnitzel was freshly prepared as the knocking could be heard from the kitchen. It's quietly located next to a body of water and it's certainly very nice in the summer when you can sit outside. We probably won't come back, but we highly recommend it. The meat was tender, the dark hunter's sauce was made with fresh mushrooms and the fried potatoes were very tasty. Three thumbs up!!

Are you serious? THAT is supposed to be a pizza? or pasta carbonara? So either your cook is a roofer by profession or I don't understand the world anymore. The kebab around the corner doesn't taste any worse, but it doesn't have these prices. There's no arguing about taste, but my personal impression is that it's not worth the money. I know the topping on the “pizza” from snack shops. Zero tomato taste, lots of cheese and the quality of the dough omg, the pasta was dry from carbonara only the name... oh what the heck... it's just a shame. It was really tasty once. Not everything used to be better, but sometimes that is true.

Nicely done, but not thought through. Seriously the coffee comes from the all in machine, for the price you can also expect a portafilter. The sandwich? What's with that big cheap thing?

Went out for dinner on Monday October 28 and finally ordered food. The lady serving herself adds a tip to the bill. Ordered €41.30 worth of food (I did the math) and I paid €50. Very anti-social to determine your own tip...

Unfortunately I have to change my rating… The service is okay, nothing more than that. The food is subpar, I have never eaten such a bad, unseasoned schnitzel. The criticism is dismissed with “Ahh, sorry”. Apparently, after inquiry, it was confirmed that a fully qualified chef prepared the dishes. Chef in the system catering?!? The “best” is the men's toilet - not for the faint of heart and nerves... Picture attached... Invoice will be charged in full... Never, never again!

I ordered a breaded schnitzel with fries. Unfortunately, with a large shandy for €23.50, no snapper. The fries were undercooked and half of the schnitzel consisted of breading. The portion, however, was very good. The tables outside by the lake are very great.

Drinks on a construction site. Instead of a quiet view of the city park, we were allowed to witness the construction of a hut - with a circular saw and other equipment. Reaction of the service staff? Shrugging your shoulders, nothing else. No place to go again.

This Tuesday around 4:30 p.m. the News Café was really full, but the only waitress handled the situation impressively. Despite the busyness, she took time for each guest and ensured a pleasant atmosphere. The food was great: the burgers were juicy and perfectly seasoned, and the pizza was crispy and generously topped. Thanks to the friendly waitress and the great food, the visit was a complete success. We will definitely come back and highly recommend the News Café.

As expected from the menu and the prices, in my opinion, far too high given that there probably isn't even a trained chef working here, the food was an absolute disappointment. It borders on impertinent. - Fries completely soggy. Partly raw. - Pizza base seems to have completely stuck in the oven. - Meat not cooked to desired level. In terms of taste, it wasn't an experience, but rather worse than a frozen pizza. There is definitely a need for a change here. To be fair, the location should be highlighted, which is really great, and the staff couldn't be blamed either, as the interaction was friendly despite the 1 hour wait for food in an almost empty restaurant.

Unfortunately we had to wait an hour for our food, even though the restaurant wasn't full. My fries were soft and limp, and unfortunately some of the pizzas had no base because it probably got stuck in the oven. Unfortunately, this is the second time we've fallen on our faces there. Also really outrageous prices for food that you can get cheaper in other restaurants with better quality and taste. Ambiance is nice, but it's a shame that the food isn't good. Unfortunately we won't eat in this restaurant again… Drinks are ok though.

We've never eaten so badly. The dish only consisted of products from the freezer, which were then sold at overprices. Even though the plates were full and we asked the waitress that we didn't like the food, there was no discount.

The News Café is a modernly furnished café with an outdoor area and a beautiful city park in front of the door. It invites you to linger and has consistently friendly staff. The prices are more in the middle to upper range. The seating is too uncomfortable for me, seat cushions would help... My favorite dish there are the hot pretzels from the oven with herb butter. Otherwise, the food is rather mediocre for my taste and that of my colleagues. Example: A salad with shrimps for €15.80 is more of a mixed green salad with lots of bunny vegetable chips on top, which tasted very strange and isn't healthy either. But it is not a restaurant but a café and that is recommended.

Had a delicious meal here with my husband and daughter. Club sandwich with fries. Was delicious, included a fried egg. A small Coke Zero turned out to be a large glass. Very satisfied. Nice ladies serving and despite the rain we sat dry outside. Beautiful building inside and clean toilets. Nice view of the park.

Four of us had dinner there yesterday, Pentecost 2024. I just want to rate my order: Grandma's fried potatoes with fried eggs: Disastrous, hardly edible. Fried potatoes were soggy, not the least bit crispy, and were literally swimming in oil. Fried egg: Egg white fried dark brown (fried is more accurate). The yolk was hard like a hard-boiled egg. The egg was also floating in the oil, even though it was on top, and the greens were probably just doing their floating course. All in all: not edible. Most of it was returned with a note to the waitress. The succinct answer: "I'll tell the chef." Is there really a chef there? Really with training? It's a shame, in such beautiful surroundings a great meal could add to the value of the park. Well, at least McDonald's isn't far away.

As with the other reviews, the service is terribly bad. You are simply forgotten there or simply not served because the waiters prefer to talk to each other. A disaster!

Service last night was a disaster. If we hadn't gone to the counter ourselves to reorder and pay and asked if we could order or pay for something, we would still be there now. Just chatting with the barman but not there for customers.

Were in transit, unfortunately all other restaurants were closed from 2 p.m. or not open at all on Saturday. Food and service were not our thing at all. The lady who served us spoke English to us. She didn't even try in German and we weren't even asked if we wanted a bill. Pizza was overloaded with cheese, pizza bread was normal rolls.

This is my first time here at the News Cafe in Papenburg. And… everything was great! The drinks are cold, the food is hot. Grandma’s fried potatoes with fried eggs were great!!! The beer is fresh and the liquor is cold. 👍 Great, attentive staff who were somehow always there when I had a request! The ambience, well… more for younger people than me 😅… I've read in some other reviews that the price/performance ratio isn't right... dear ones... where do you live!?! The meal €11 and the tepuila €3… ABSOLUTELY appropriate for such a location!!! All in all: a really nice evening! Thank you 🙏

Cold food (spare ribs) on plates that are too small, very little food, extra plate for the bones and no cloth to clean your hands. The only thing that was good was the drinks, but the price was way too high. All in all, not recommended!!

Always very crowded at certain times but it's cozy and nice there. The price is also good for what you get. Unfortunately, the smoking area is extremely smelly, even smokers there say it's not nice. It needs to be ventilated more often.

It's a nice cafe. The location is also fantastic with a view of the lake and the park. Unfortunately the selection of cakes is rather small. But otherwise the food there is very tasty.
