Nanking in Bremen

We ordered food for pickup. We were really impressed; the dishes were sustainably packaged in Tupperware containers. Normally, everything is delivered in styrofoam and plastic trays. Other restaurants should take note! The food was absolutely delicious. We highly recommend this restaurant and will definitely be going there again.

I really enjoy coming to Nanking because the food is truly excellent, even though I don't know where the meat (beef, pork, duck, and chicken) comes from. Given the very fair and consistent prices at the restaurant, I have to assume the meat isn't of the highest quality, but it still tastes great. And if you don't eat there too often, it certainly won't hurt. Nanking has been around for many years and is very popular with regular customers. My good friend and I have also been regulars there for many years and will continue to be!

Lots of delicious dishes. For lunch menu items (11:30 am - 3:00 pm), you can choose between soup or a spring roll. Takeaway food comes in reusable containers. The takeaway food also stays hot for quite a while (we have a 30-minute drive and sometimes even have to blow on it :-)).

Very friendly and attentive staff. Greeted at the entrance with free seating, even as a single person, you won't be seated at a neighboring table. Ordered duck chop suey - asked if it was crispy or soft... good, attentive service... wait time max 10 minutes... Perfectly cooked, vegetables very good, sauce flavorful and not too salty... table condiments and sauces clean and not sticky. Perfectly sufficient portion... Pleasant and well-mannered clientele across all classes... no excessive noise, even at large tables... Completely satisfied... would go back anytime!!!

The food is delicious, and the staff is incredibly friendly. I personally also like the ambiance. I felt very comfortable.

The food was very good and tasty. The reserved table wasn't set due to a last-minute rescheduling. There was also no follow-up to check whether everything was OK. But these were the only points of an overall satisfactory evening.

I was in Nanking again after what felt like 40 years and I wasn't disappointed. At the time it was already considered the best Chinese in Bremen. I can only confirm that again today. It was incredibly delicious. The five of us spent a wonderful evening there 🥰

Overall an average experience. Most of the plates are more western style, so perhaps appealing to a certain clientèle but not as many dishes as one would eat in China. Service average, and the prices are a little high for what you get. Wouldn't come here again.

We ate at Nanking today, May 18, 2025. It was just like we remember it from our childhood, including a fortune cookie at the end. Very good, friendly, and fast service. The food came super fast, and it was nice and tidy.

It starts when looking for a parking space, but on the weekend you don't have to pay any fees, the restaurant has a nice atmosphere, there were four of us there and we had a table reserved, it's better, nice staff, the food came relatively quickly, the starter was a delicious soup and the main course was plentiful and tasty, no question about it, my wife had ordered a meal that was supposed to be without mushrooms according to the menu, but there were campions available, well I got them, but that's one star less.

Definitely these food are for local people, it is not authentic CN food. Chinese food for foreigners, Chinese people don’t have to come

I stumbled into this restaurant by chance, but it was even more delicious than I expected. Each ingredient had a strong flavor and the whole dish came together well, making it a truly authentic Chinese meal. The jasmine tea was also fragrant and flavorful.

I gave it 5 stars because the food and service at the Nanking restaurant were excellent. The dishes were delicious on the hot plate, and the meat was very tender. The sauces were excellent, and the vegetables were freshly prepared. But what I remember most pleasantly was the friendly waiter. He beamed at us as he served us and ensured we had a wonderful evening.

On Saturday, April 15, 2025, I went there for dinner with my daughter. I used to go there often when I still lived in Bremen. Hardly anything has changed. The beautiful large round table is unfortunately no longer there, but otherwise, everything feels like it used to be. Super delicious food, friendly service, and the atmosphere you imagine was 100% realized. I would like to thank the Nanking team for the lovely evening.

The friendly and attentive service is commendable. The quality of the dishes we chose did not correspond to the usual standard from Chinese restaurants. The meat was dry and sizzled and poorly seasoned. The chicken soup was completely tasteless and only had a few threads of chicken throughout it. Therefore the overall rating: not recommended.

I've been eating there for years and it's by far the tastiest Chinese food in Bremen. Even though every seat was occupied, the waitress was very friendly and attentive. The food came quickly and was very delicious. I think it's particularly good if you take the leftovers with you and don't get Styrofoam packaging, but rather dishwasher-safe containers. There is a €1 deposit per can, which I personally think is totally okay.

Really highly recommended - we went to this restaurant at 5:30 p.m. without a reservation and were allowed to choose a place to eat with 4 people - and were thrilled, great service, great service, price performance 5 ⭐️ - thank you 🙏

Still delicious even after more than 30 years. (I was here as a child.) Lunch is also available on Saturdays until 3 p.m. Noodles are made fresh - none from a bag - and the spring rolls also come from our own kitchen. The service is fast, friendly and accommodating. We like to drink a pot of tea in the afternoon to warm ourselves up... and then we head back into the city.

We had dinner in Nanking with friends for a long time. Friendly service - generous portions - not overpriced! Everyone enjoyed it from good to very good - I would like to rate the food and service 4.5*. We like coming to the restaurant again! A nice and stylish place for a decent and tasty meal. The ambience is reminiscent of a vacation in Asia, the service is very nice, polite and accommodating. The portions are decent, the price is good for Bremen standards and the quality is top. In the photo you can see the 118 (duck cross on bean sprouts) and the 50 (beef Chinese style). Conclusion: highly recommended.

There is a large selection of Asian dishes here, a classic ambience that seems slightly outdated, but still has its charm. Such a delicious and amazing meal!

The restaurant is decorated in a classic Chinese style, but seems far too big for my taste, which makes the atmosphere seem rather impersonal. The waiter is responsible for many tables at the same time and does not establish personal contact with the guests. At times I even felt ignored - for example, the waitress walked past my empty glass six times without asking for another drink. Even when I complained about the warm beer, the fresh drink was placed on the table without comment. Incidentally, this happened twice, which suggests that half of the beers were tapped in advance and therefore warmed up. On a positive note, the main course (chicken with vegetables and curry) was fresh and tasty. The dessert (baked banana), however, was not. This seemed more like a finished product. I prefer smaller restaurants that offer more personalized service. For me, in addition to the quality of the food, the service is also important, and unfortunately this left a lot to be desired.

I had the desire to "eat Chinese, but like before, at the table, in delicious", so we came here. The ambience alone is a dream, so beautifully "kitschy" but really kindly meant. The staff is very friendly and it was very quiet even though it was very busy. The food was delicious, just like before. Thank you for the wonderful evening and we will definitely come back.

Wir kamen hierhin zum Mittagessen. Nach kurzer Zeit füllte sich das Restaurant mit Gästen - erstmal ein gutes Zeichen. Das Interieur war gut - chinesisch, aber nicht zu kittschig. Der Service gut und freundlich. Das Essen war sehr gut, insbesondere bezogen auf den mittagstisch. Auf jeden Fall eine sehr gute Wahl.

Nanking has been an institution in Bremen for many decades and I have known it since my early childhood. I travel to China regularly and can therefore say that the food is authentic. This was my first time there since I moved from Bremen and I can still recommend Nanking.

Very tasty food, generous and reasonably priced. This has nothing to do with “fried noodles to go”. The service is quick and very friendly, children are welcome. Single-use take-away packaging is dispensed with in favor of a cheap deposit system. The interior is a bit old, but still harmonious. We'd love to come back.

Went here for lunch today and it was good, tasty and filling like the "Nanking" has known for over 40 years. I appreciate the service staff because of their attentiveness, friendliness and willingness to help. The "Nanking" is a guarantee for very good Chinese cuisine and is certainly the best Chinese restaurant in Bremen.

Absolutely overpriced! My husband and I have been guests at Nanking for years, unfortunately the food and the rooms have suffered greatly. The prices double and the portions become smaller and smaller. You now feel like you're being ripped off here and you're not really getting enough. There are better Chinese restaurants there now. The inventory is also quite old. There is simply no investment here, only profit-making. There are better Chinese restaurants there now.

The dishes cost around €15-16 but are very generous. It is advisable to share a dish. The service was very friendly and the atmosphere is very nice. You can sit there comfortably and definitely stop by.
