Nairobi - Restaurant & Grill in Eschborn

We were in a small group of 5 people eating there for the first time. The ambience was nice, service was very friendly, the food was not good. Lamb had a lot of fat and was old, sad for the price, the beef was hard, we were put off because there was only one cook. That has nothing to do with it. We had a repeat order that took forever. It's a shame that as a guest you didn't receive any accommodating compensation.

First, the time to get the food was long. They said they were out of many dishes so in the end we only ate an appetizer and left. Lastly no cocktails and the dishes I saw online did not represent what I saw on others plates since we barely ate. Additionally the workers were nice and respectful but at one point they told us they had no more pilau left. Then when we ordered, it took 30 mins to tell us they didn’t have the dish. Overall I would not try it again. The place was clean though. Design nice but it’s inside a hotel as well. And it’s not an upscale hotel either. Oh and I forgot, the Ketchum bari, traditional Kenyans do not put mandarines or mangoes in there. I don’t know where they thought that was okay. Traditional is onions, red onion, tomatoes, lots of coriander and lemon juice, mixed with some salt and light pepper. I love Kenyan food, but this looked like Indian Kenyans, not the actual. No disrespect intended, but traditional is traditional.

Very tasty food. Unfortunately, the majority of the tables are like coffee tables in height, which is extremely impractical and uncomfortable for eating. The service was also very slow, which is a shame. There was a doctor's series playing in the background (the TV was right in front of our table) where people were vomiting and being operated on all the time, which is also so appetizing at night.

We had made a special reservation for the normal tables so that my parents and I didn't have to sit so low. When we arrived all the tables were occupied. We then had to go to the deep pallet tables. After half an hour we were able to move. Unfortunately, the new table wasn't cleared away properly and dirty cutlery was still lying around for a long time. The food took forever to arrive. 2 out of 5 dishes tasted delicious. The others were hardly seasoned. The service tried hard but wasn't really competent or quick. Ambience is scary. Absolutely not nice. Very unfortunate

The food is really very tasty. The waitress was really nice and it was her first day, but in my opinion she handled it brilliantly. But the ambience really leaves a lot to be desired.

Nothing for a cozy evening! Immediately after I sat down, a person on the phone sat down almost right next to me. I then left the seat for a free table. Only interrupted by a trip to the toilet could the constant phone call that the supposed hotel guest "had" about my entire visit to the restaurant be heard throughout the entire room. This guest also lounged on the bench in socks. I don't need this a second time.

I had a valid coupon from (Be My Frankfurt) with me. The restaurant manager was rude and said we couldn't redeem the coupon without a good reason. and the food was overpriced for the quality

Although the table reservation was confirmed by email, we discovered upon arrival that the restaurant was closed! Drove 35 km for free.

Absolute impudence, we had made a reservation and received a reservation confirmation and yet we are faced with a locked door.

Food was delicious and service was excellent. Server took time to explain what the dishes were and how they were made.

Very, very tasty food, courteous service and a very nice atmosphere. We became aware of the African restaurant NAIROBI in Eschborn through the African cooking course at the Genussakademie. We immediately had a very good connection with the owner Gillian. While we were still taking the cooking class, we knew we wanted to have an African buffet at our wedding party. Gillian was immediately hooked. And we haven't regretted it. Even the critical guests, who were not keen on experimenting with spices, were totally impressed by the African buffet. We can recommend Gillian and her NAIROBI with a clear conscience. Let yourself be carried away to Kenya and its spices.

Essen echt Klasse, Ambiente könnte mehr Afrika vertragen, service zwar nett aber überfordert bei fast leerer Kneipe 45 Minuten auf Vorspeise gewartet und dann nochmal 35 Minuten bis Hauptgang und es nicht wirklich viel los da.

Everything from the starters to the desserts was very tasty. We only had the vegetarian dishes and were full and happy with them. The only thing we would recommend to the restaurateur is to have suitable music playing quietly. That would have made it perfect. The restaurant is absolutely recommended! The prices are absolutely reasonable.

I just picked up too good to go, rice with goulash, vegetables and fresh tomatoes and actually wanted to take the food home and eat it there, but unfortunately that didn't work out. I ate the whole huge portion with my fingers on the way because the food is so incredibly perversely awesome. So no one should miss this brutally tasty tasty treat. I saw on too good to go that there were 4 more of these meals, so if they get thrown away I'll freak out. I love you and will now do this weekly with you

Lovely atmospheric and warm Kenyan restaurant just outside Frankfurt and at the base of a hotel. We had an excellent dinner here with friends. The staff were friendly, welcoming, and the service was excellent. The food was made fresh and it was clear our chef knew what she was doing. The food was packed with flavor! We tried several dishes including a whole fish. I had a chicken pilau and it was very good. They have authentic Kenyan dishes and some more for the local German population. One of our friends described the food as “pimped out Kenyan food.” The samosas were perfectly crispy and I also enjoyed the Chapiti. I really loved the coconut ball dessert served on a lemon ice cream or cream. Overall we had a great experience and highly recommend it.

The restaurant is classy, the staff are really nice and friendly, the food is delicious but the portions are big, the owner came by to say hi, and she is the nicest person ever. When the weather is nice you can sit outside. Vegetarian options are available too. I highly recommend this restaurant if you are hungry and want to have the Kenyan food experience.

During our visit to Frankfurt from Cuba to see our family, we found the lovely Nairobi - Restaurant & Grill, and it was a wonderful experience. The food is spectacular. Each dish is full of fresh, authentic flavors that truly transported us to Kenya. It shows that each preparation has a special touch of dedication and love. The service was excellent. One of the employees, Mike, spoke to us in Spanish and explained the menu to us in detail, which made our experience even more special and comfortable. They were very friendly and attentive at all times. The restaurant's atmosphere is warm and welcoming, with décor that celebrates the rich Kenyan culture. It is the perfect place to enjoy a quiet dinner or a gathering with friends and family. In short, Nairobi - Restaurant & Grill is a gem in Frankfurt. I had a wonderful experience at Nairobi Restaurant and Grill. Mike the service guy was really kind and I thank him for his attention. The food was delicious but a little too spicy for my taste so I didn't like it 100%. However, the atmosphere was really nice and the quality of service was good. Overall, I had an enjoyable evening and am considering visiting again.

We made a reservation here via the system with the note that we have several barometer books. At 6 p.m. we met with 5 people. The restaurant is within walking distance of the Eschborn S-Bahn station. The decor is very nice and attractive and we were looking forward to a lovely evening. We ordered as an appetizer several samosas (1 deep-fried dumpling) with some salad / EUR 2.50. Of course also the chapati (unleavened flatbread) / EUR 3.50 and the mango chili coconut dip / EUR 3. The samosas were ok and the price was ok too... But when the chapati and the dip came, we were shocked for the first time because the price/performance ratio wasn't right at all. With the dip, which was simply spicy, you couldn't taste any of the 3 components and charging EUR 3 for such a blob is really cheeky. As a main course we almost all had the Muhogo with chicken Karanga / EUR 17.50 and once the Kuku Pilau with chicken for 15.50. What was brought to us left us speechless again... Hardly any chicken, almost only cassava (?), a little firmer than potato and you couldn't taste any of the peanut sauce that was supposed to be included with the Muhogo dish. Now we had enough and asked if we could speak to the owner, who also came to our table... She didn't really seem to care that the price/performance ratio for the starters wasn't right and that 1/2 teaspoon of the dip was a disgrace. She didn't really care that the portions of our main courses were quite small and you had to look for the chicken... We then also said that you couldn't taste the peanut sauce - her comment: she took extra few peanuts because she didn't know if anyone had an allergy... Without words, as if someone ordered the dish that also had peanuts. Sauce is available if you are allergic to it. She didn't seem to really care and said everyone would only pay half price... We then explained to her that we had barometer books with us and that it wasn't a solution... But she didn't care and went back into the kitchen... No voucher from the barometer book was taken into account in the bill. After we said that, a new invoice came with 1 x deduction. We complained about this again and the answer was that only 1 voucher per group would be accepted. We didn't accept this because we said so when we made the reservation, before ordering, and there was nothing like that in the book. Ultimately, 2 vouchers were deducted. We were the only customers the whole time, which didn't surprise us after the experience. Conclusion The service was super nice and smart, the decor was attractive, but unfortunately everything else was subpar. We can't recommend the restaurant... What a shame!

Es war überfüllt und viel zu wenig Service Personal. Die Portionen waren für uns zu klein. Wir haben 150€ ausgegeben und sind hungrig heim gegangen.

Der Lammeintopf war zu trocken und das Fleisch mit viel Knorpeln usw. Die Bedienung schien noch neu und etwas überfordert, aber sehr freundlich und bemüht. Ansonsten waren Vorspeisen Hauptgerichte und Nachtisch lecker und für uns mal etwas Neues. Leicht pikant, aber nicht zu scharf und dennoch gut gewürzt. Gerne wieder!

Visited the restaurant through the voucher booklet. Were very positively surprised. It tasted super delicious. We had the Caspati Rolex beef and the mataha. The appetizer plates were eaten on the next table. They also look very good. The service was also very nice and made a lot of effort.

Wir haben schon sehr lange nach einem Kenianischen Restaurant gesucht. Meine Frau und mein Stiefsohn kommen aus Kenia. Wir haben uns sehr auf den Abend gefreut. Wir sind knapp 1 Stunde zum Restaurant gefahren. Das Ambiente hat uns gut gefallen. Der Service ist leider eine Katastrophe. 1 Stern ist noch zu viel für den Service. 20 Minuten Wartezeit für die Getränke und es war nicht viel los. Zu dem Zeitpunkt waren nur 8 Gäste im Restaurant. Über eine Stunde Wartezeit für die Hauptgerichte ist leider viel zu lange. Meine Frau hat nicht das Essen bekommen, was sie bestellt hat. Die Servicekraft hat auf den Hinweis aggressiv reagiert und meinte sie hätte falsch bestellt. Generell war das Essen eher nicht traditionell kenianisch sondern eher an den deutschen Kunden angepasst. Das komplette Essen hätte stärker gewürzt sein können. Die Abstriche beim Essen hätte man noch verschmerzen können, aber bei dem Service ist ein weiterer Besuch für uns leider nicht vorstellbar.

Das Essen war absolut Großartig! Super schönes Restaurant und ich habe selten so lecker gegessen! Das wirklich einzige Manko ist, das es etwas länger gedauert hat.. aber jederzeit einen Besuch wert!

Unglaublich freundlicher Service. Das Essen war auch lecker. Es hat nur sehr lange gedauert bis wir 4 Personen unser Essen hatten. Das versteht man, weil es eine neue Location ist natürlich. Aber wenn das Brot und Reis nach 20 Minuten nach dem Hauptessen kommen, dann ist das Hauptessen kalt. Eine von uns hatte einfach nichts zu essen nachdem wir 3 fast fertig waren. Aber es lohnt sich auf jeden Fall dorthin zu gehen, weil das Essen lecker ist, besonders für Vegetarier:-)

Für einen besonderen Anlass waren wir am Samstag,07.10.2023 im Nairobi Restaurant . Als wir ankamen waren nur 2Tische belegt,weshalb wohl auch nicht nach unserer Reservierung gefragt wurde. Schade, hatte ich doch über Open table angegeben, dass es ein besonderer Anlass war. Die Vorspeisen: vegetarischer und Vorspeisen Fleischteller waren lecker und reichlich. Von der Hauptspeise Njama Choma war ich allerdings sehr enttäuscht! Ich kenne das Gericht aus Kenia und hatte mich auf gegrilltes Fleisch gefreut. Bekommen habe ich eine Art Stew mit einem großen Anteil Hühnerfleisch(Innereien) das nichts mit gegrilltem Njama Choma zu tun hatte. Das 1 Chapati für €3,50 als Beilage war leider kalt. Die 2. Hauptspeise Rind Pilau war gut gewürzt und hat gut geschmeckt. Insgesamt war der Abend nett und wir würden wiederkommen.

Haben heute das erste Mal dort bestellt über Lieferando. Das Essen war absolut lecker! Der Reis den wir bestellten war unglaublich gut und authentisch gewürzt. Eine wahre Abwechslung im sonnst Esskultur kargen Deutschland! Die Portion war angemessen und hat uns satt gemacht, nur vom Brot hätten wir gerne mehr für den Preis bekommen. Gerne wieder!!!

Ich war gestern das 2. Mal dort und wieder begeistert. Das Essen ist einfach super lecker, das Ambiente schön und der Service freundlich und charmant.

Wir haben uns im Nairobi sehr wohl gefühlt. Eine zwanglose Atmosphäre in schöner Umgebung. Das Essen vorallem die Vegetarischen Vorspeisen war sehr lecker. Wollen beim nächsten Mal wieder was neues ausprobieren, kommen gerne wieder

Der Service war super nett und ohne aufdringlich zu sein. Das Essen war lecker schön heiß und sehr reichlich. Wir haben eine Mischung aus verschiedenen Vorspeisen bestellt und waren eigentlich sehr happy. Kein Grund zum meckern. Einzig das ganze hat ein bisschen gedauert. Dennoch passt das ganze schon weiter so wir kommen bestimmt auch mal wieder dann bestellen wir nicht so viel essen weil wir haben uns echt etwas überfuttert.

Great restaurant. A very pleasant place away from the chaos of the city. Welcoming ambiance. The food is simply delicious, prepared with fresh and tasty ingredients. I especially loved the vegetarian appetisers. Definitely one of the best places in Frankfurt.

The restaurant is great and will become a reference. The chef is excellent and the service impeccable. Highly recommended.

Great ambience. Very tastefully decorated. Was there for dinner with some friends and on two days later for an event. Very friendly staff and employees. The owner however should smile more and be a little welcoming. My friends who were non Kenyans raised concerns on how she was looking at them. The tea was really tasty, well seasoned Kenyan tea. The beef pilau and chicken pilau were also amazing. All in all a nice experience

Wir hatten einen sehr schönen Abend , Gerichte wurden frisch zubereitet und serviert. Es gibt ausreichend Parkplätze vor der Tür. Der Service war super, aufmerksam und nett. Es gab auch landestypische Gerichte die nicht auf der Karte standen , diese wurden im Aussenbereich gegrillt unbedingt probieren. Wir kommen gerne wieder.

The food was very delicious, there were a couple of mix-ups with the beverage and food orders and we had to ask for utensils after we were served our meal. With a little focus, this could be a fantastic dining experience.

Der Eingang zum Restaurant führt über das links davon gelegene Central Hotel. Ein Schild wäre hilfreich. ;-) Da die Hotellobby und das Restaurant räumlich nicht voneinander getrennt sind, geht leider ein wenig des wirklich sehr schönen Ambientes des Restaurants flöten. Vielleicht würde ein Paravent Abhilfe schaffen. Die Einrichtung ist nämlich sehr schön aufeinander abgestimmt. Es läuft dazu passende Musik. Wer nicht mit krummem Rücken an Europaletten als Tisch sitzend essen möchte, sollte einen normalen Tisch bei der Reservierung auswählen. ;-) Die Bedienung war super nett und sehr authentisch. Sie war wohl neu und im Umgang mit dem Tablet noch nicht so geübt, aber ihr Charme hat das wieder wett gemacht. :-) Und dann muss man sich ein bisschen auf kenianische Gemütlichkeit einstellen. Der Service ist nicht der schnellste, aber immer sehr herzlich. Das Essen braucht in der Zubereitung etwas Zeit. Es ist aber auch sehr vielseitig. Wir hatten als Vorspeise den vegetarischen Teller und den mit Fleisch (Huhn, Rind, Lamm, Hühnerherzen). Beides super lecker und eigentlich fast als Hauptspeise ausreichen. Vielleicht noch eine Vorspeise dazu, hätte gereicht. Die Teller sehen nicht sehr groß aus, sind aber bis oben hin gefüllt. An Hauptspeisen gibt es tatsächlich keine große Auswahl, aber wir hatten drei verschiedene Gerichte, und alle waren sehr lecker. Wenn man nicht auf Koriander steht, sollte man ihn abbestellen. Ein Hauch war leider trotzdem in meinem Essen drin. Aber vermutlich werden die Speisen auch direkt damit zubereitet. Zwischendurch kam noch die Köchin raus und fragte, ob alles in Ordnung sei. Fand ich eine sehr nette Geste. Wir kommen wieder, um noch andere Gerichte auszuprobieren.

Wir waren zum ersten mal dort und wurden sehr nett empfangen, Service war Top, kann man 0 bemängeln. Das Essen hat sehr lecker geschmeckt und hat uns sehr an unser Heimatland errinert. Schmeckt wie zu Hause!!!! Sehr lecker, warm serviert, sehr nettes und freundliches Personal, passendes Ambiente und das Preis-Leistungsverhältnis stimmt! Wir werden sicherlich nochmal kommen!

Wir waren gestern mit einer Gruppe von 5 Personen zum ersten Mal hier essen. Das Essen hat mir persönlich sehr gut geschmeckt und war mit Liebe gemacht. Was mir aber besonders gut gefallen hat war die angenehme Atmosphäre und Hilfsbereitschaft der Mitarbeiter. Sie waren sehr freundlich und gut drauf! Werden wiederkommen.

Weil das Restaurant wohl gerade erst eröffnet wurde, ist der Kellner noch nicht ganz vertraut mit seiner Karte, was er jedoch mit seinem Charme wettmacht. Da an unserem Abend alle Gäste gleichzeitig kamen, gab es für die Überbrückungszeit (bis die Hauptspeise kam) einen kleinen "Gruß des Hauses"- sehr schöne Geste! Die von uns bestellten Vorspeisen waren alle sehr schön angerichtet und lecker( unbedingt die Tamarindensauce probieren!!!), bei meiner Hauptspeise fehlte jedoch der geschmackliche Pepp. Kompliment auch für die abwechslungsreiche Einrichtung; leider stehen die Tische( in dem Bereich, wo wir bedient wurden) so nah beieinander, dass man jedes Wort vom Nachbartisch mitbekommt- was andererseits auch sehr kommunikativ sein kann. Kleiner Tipp: der Eingang erfolgt über die Hotelrezeption des Central Hotels Eschborn!

Sehr schönes Ambiente, vielfältiges leckeres Essen, sehr höfliches und nettes Personal!

Schönes kenianisches Ambiente und dazu das perfekte Essen. Man hat das Gefühl, dass man einen kleinen Ausflug in Kenia gemacht hat. Der Service hat uns top beraten und war immer ansprechbar.

Leckeres Essen, super Service, freundlich zuvorkommend. Wenn es voll ist, dann sind die Tische zu eng aneinander, das muss man mögen. Es war etwas zugig, aber das liegt wahrscheinlich an dem Raum selbst, es war wohl vorher eine Vorhalle vom Hotel. Da wäre eine zusätzliche Tür vielleicht nicht schlecht.

Kleines Schönes Restaurant, Autentishes Essen und Guter Service. Wir wahren sehr zufrieden und kommen gerne wieder.

Good, authentic food, freshly prepared and very delicious. However, from ordering to having the first starters it took around 75 minutes, the mains came after 90 mins -which seemed to be ages for us as we were close to starving ;-) But, liked the food, the ambience and the service .. and will have another try in some weeks .. hoping that they found some kitchen routine by then.

Wenn du noch nie in Kenia warst oder eine Reise dorthin planst, dann tu dir selbst einen Gefallen und besuche dieses schöne Restaurant in Eschborn. Die Speisekarte bot köstliche Gerichte und das Personal war sehr aufmerksam und freundlich. Das frisch zubereitete Essen war absolut umwerfend, vor allem weil es uns die Möglichkeit gab, etwas über die verschiedenen ethnischen Gruppen in Kenia und ihre köstlichen Gerichte zu erfahren - alles, was wir gegessen haben, ist uns auf der Zunge zergangen. Das kenianische Ambiente ist top und der Chefkoch gab uns sogar historische Informationen zu den verschiedenen Gerichten, die wir an diesem Abend gegessen haben. Karibuni Kenia!

Leider waren wir gar nicht zufrieden. Besonders die Wartezeiten - fast eine Stunde bis zu Vorspeise und dann noch mal mehr als eine halbe Stunde bis zum Hauptgang - waren deutlich zu lang obwohl das Lokal nicht sehr stark besucht war. Fehler bei der Getränkebestellung - statt Bitter Lemon kam Tonic Water, statt einer großen Flasche Wasser kamen 3 kleine und erst auf Nachfrage sagte man uns, dass weder Bitter Lemon noch große Wasser vorrätig waren obwohl sie in der Karten standen. Auch die Hauptgerichte entsprachen überhaupt nicht unserer Erwartung, insgesamt waren alle Gerichte für unseren Geschmack viel zu trocken und zu stark Korianderlastig obwohl wir um mäßigen Gebrauch gebeten hatten. Bisher kannten wir die kenianische Küche noch nicht, nach diesem Besuch werden wir sie auch so schnell nicht mehr ausprobieren.
