We've been there several times now and it's always great! The service is friendly and attentive, the food is delicious, and they're dog-friendly too – they even have water for the furry friends!

After the hike we went to get some food. Allgäuer Käsespätzle is amazing it just melts in your mouth. It’s a must try here. The Landbier is also cool. Overall worth a visit if you are hiking in the nearby area.

Delicious food, great atmosphere and very friendly staff

Like it used to be – only better. Even as a child in the 70s, I occasionally came here with my parents. This traditional German restaurant has become a real insider tip – though not exactly a secret. There's something for everyone; dogs are welcome outside and on the covered terrace, or inside without them. The consistently cheerful staff and fair prices make it a pleasure to visit.

We had our civil wedding ceremony at Mutter Wehner's, followed by a small reception. Everything was more than perfect. The staff there are very friendly and were always present without being intrusive. We opted for the wedding buffet, and our guests, as well as ourselves, thoroughly enjoyed it. I stumbled across this restaurant on Google Maps and remembered it was one of my grandparents' favorite spots. I think I first came here in the 1950s. My grandfather, who was the fire chief at the Emscher Lippe coal mine, often came here with me and his fire engine. On the way to the fire lookout tower, he and his driver would take a break here. Things like that aren't possible anymore these days, which is a shame, but it's a nice memory. If I'm ever in the area again, I'll stop by after more than 60 years. I imagine the food is good...

Looks good on the outside, but it's a disaster on the inside. This was our second time there, to go pony riding with our children. Highly recommended; you can really relax in the woods. Afterwards, we got hungry and headed to the Mutter Wehner Restaurant. From the outside, it looks nice. Dogs are allowed on the outdoor terrace, which didn't bother us at all. The first waiter was quite friendly and took our order, but the next one brought it incorrectly. I have never eaten such bad burgers in my life. We ordered a burger without bacon, but it arrived with bacon. We ordered a burger with sweet potatoes, but it arrived with regular fries. The burger wasn't cooked through at all—an absolute catastrophe, completely oversalted, and the sweet potatoes weren't cooked either. For the children, there was a children's portion of schnitzel with fries, which was a complete joke for €10.90. The schnitzel was tiny and also undercooked. Serving something like that to children is an absolute outrage. The waiter didn't seem to care much when we asked if it was seriously supposed to cost €10.90?! Conclusion: Save your money and eat somewhere else. It's a shame I didn't take any photos; I would have liked to upload them here. I can't understand all the positive reviews.

As a wedding photographer, I always love coming here! Cozy atmosphere, friendly service, excellent food. Located amidst nature, the venue offers countless opportunities for romantic photoshoots. Highlight: Civil ceremonies can be held both indoors and outdoors, eliminating the hassle of driving on your wedding day. Verdict: Highly recommended! 👍

Yesterday was my first time at "Mother Wehner's"—but definitely not my last! 😎 It was a Polish-themed evening with exquisite Polish cuisine. The food was delicious and incredibly generous—I must have devoured six beef roulades 🤫😁 (and quite a bit more besides). The location is truly beautiful and nestled in nature. I barely had any cell phone reception, but they offer guest Wi-Fi, which was surprisingly fast. A live band played that evening, and it was simply fantastic—they were amazing! 🎉🥳 The service was top-notch: very friendly, attentive, and quick. A huge thank you to the entire staff! 🙏🏻 Parking is available right at the venue—just get out of the car, and you're inside in five steps! 😜 At the end of the day, the team made it a truly wonderful evening—so a big thank you and a huge compliment! 👏 Five stars aren't enough! We were invited to a birthday breakfast, and everything you could imagine for breakfast was there. Coffee, tea, hot chocolate, and juice at the buffet. Rolls of all kinds, bread, salmon, scrambled eggs, and small sausages, cheese and various cold cuts, sparkling wine—everything was delicious, and the service was very friendly. It was definitely good value for money.

We ate there for the first time today. We found it while walking. We're in such a positive mood that we'll be going back soon. My father had steak. It was so delicious. I had pasta with chanterelle mushrooms, and my husband had cordon bleu. Everything was delicious. The food came quickly. The service was friendly! The prices aren't exactly cheap, but they're definitely worth it for the place!

We were there today with a group of about 25 cyclists. We had a reservation. Prompt service, top-notch service, and we were ALL able to eat within 30 minutes. And that was from the menu! The dishes were consistently fresh and all homemade. Even the fish fingers and cordon bleu were homemade, as were the herb butter and onion jam. We were absolutely thrilled. The food is very good; we were there with 26 people as a group, but the service was rather functional; our arrangements regarding arrival times were ignored; the restaurant is beautifully decorated for dining, but not recommended for a group.

We've been here several times and even celebrated our son's confirmation. We can say that the food was always excellent, and from memory, there's never been any cause for complaint. The service is exemplary, something you certainly don't find everywhere. Due to its location, Mutter Wehner is a great place to stop after a walk or, weather permitting, to visit the beer garden. The weekly menu offers a welcome change of pace. A definite recommendation.

Beautiful location, but unfortunately, the price-performance ratio is completely disproportionate. Grandma's roulade had little to do with it, tasted bland, and I wouldn't recommend it. The "chocolate cake" dessert, for €12.99, was significantly overpriced for the portion! Conclusion: Coffee is okay, but if you want decent food, go elsewhere!

A lovely place to relax and take a breather. Very attentive staff. The food was delicious. The drinks arrived quickly, and the food was served hot. The coffee afterward was also delicious, hot, and served quickly. All in all, it was a great stay.

For me, the restaurant more than deserves its full stars! We would like to express our sincere gratitude to the entire team. Even though we had made a reservation and only realized on arrival that the spot wasn't really suitable for us, they were very helpful and still found a solution for us! We had an event from work. Everything was extremely organized and the service was super friendly and accommodating. The food was very good. We'd love to come back!

The food always tastes very good, the price level is not in the lower range but okay. The furnishings are cozy but elegant. Unfortunately, the high ceiling makes it very noisy, so conversations can be a bit difficult when it's full. Still a very nice restaurant.

We stopped here for lunch as a hiking stop and were warmly greeted upon arrival. A table outside was immediately available. Unfortunately, the table and chairs were affected by the weather and were no longer in good condition. Therefore deducting a star, a tablecloth might help. ;-) The service was very friendly and the drinks and food came very quickly. The classic currywurst / fries and a baked potato with salad were ordered. Both were perfectly fine and very tasty. Price performance fits here!

You can sit outside well. You have to get your own drinks, you have to order food inside and get a pager. You will be notified when you can pick up your food.

Absolutely recommended! Very good, attentive, nice service⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐ Nice ambience. Amuse Gueule was bread with onion confit...very good. The fitness salad with fruit and roasted nuts, very tasty, but not necessarily enough to eat. Ideal in combination with a starter. We were very satisfied and would like to come back.

Unfortunately I can't share the good experiences here, and the name promises more than it can deliver. There were three of us there and when we came in we were seated at a drafty table by the window. The fact that the patio heaters can be turned on when you are cold was only explained to us more or less at the end, after we had thrown our jackets back on. There is also no internet on site and no sign of guest access. We were only given the password when we asked. Well, you're here to eat. We had chosen supposedly delicious things from the menu. As a starter we had the anti-pasti platter for two, but shared between three of us. There was also schnitzel with champagne cream sauce and fried potatoes (instead of fries, it wasn't a problem to change the order), second: beef roulade with red cabbage and baked dumplings and third: pork fillet with Calvados sauce and rösti. The schnitzel was super tasty and there was nothing to complain about, but the fried potatoes were partly dark, partly they hadn't seen the bottom of the pan yet, burnt bacon and onions or raw ones in between, somehow didn't fit at all. The beef roulade was probably okay so far, but the red cabbage had no taste, no seasoning, nothing at all, some glass red cabbage is better. It has nothing to do with the red cabbage you imagine when you eat at “Mother” Wehner’s. The biggest hit of all, however, was the pork fillet, which was initially too short and then, after asking for it to be re-cooked briefly, the pig came back completely dead. Calvados sauce actually means something other than a simple pan cream with 3 pieces of apple in it. The starter antipasti platter was, unfortunately, just some tastelessly dressed vegetables with an above-average amount of beetroot, as well as a salad from the supermarket thrown on top, also dressed without oil/balsamic vinegar (unfortunately it wasn't on the table as a menage, but only a salt and pepper mill). As a “goodie” the house also provided a curd dish with fruit. Sorry, but it was obvious that they were left over from a party (you ended up walking past them at least twice on the way to the toilet) and were barely hospital level. So all in all it was below average, everything was pretty nicely presented, but even if you eat with your eyes, it won't fill you up on its own. It's a shame, a little more courage to spice things up would look good on the restaurant, as it has a balanced menu with reasonable prices, if it tasted that way. There is plenty of room for improvement, make something of it.

Yesterday we had our wedding including the civil ceremony, food and coffee and cake at Mother Wehner's. We were 40 guests in total I've loved going here before because of the delicious food and the great ambience, but yesterday everything was better: everything was perfect and exactly how we wanted it. 1A food and drinks, great service and tried very hard to give us a nice day. Great value for money! The children were able to run around in the forest all day, play on the playground or go pony riding. Nobody had anything negative to complain about. Everything was perfect! Thank you!

We visited Mutter Wehner, among other places, as part of the Menuekarussell (Menu Carousel). The table was beautifully set, and we received fantastic service from Sabine! She was very polite, cheerful, and yet professional. You can tell that she "lives" her job and does it with passion. The wines were explained to each course and paired really well. The food selection for the Menuekarussell was very well chosen and tasted absolutely delicious. My husband also really enjoyed the a la carte meal, which was prepared with fresh ingredients. At the end, there was a delicious mini beer – a great idea. There were still plenty of seats available, even though it was a Saturday evening, and the ambiance is cozy and furnished with lots of wood. Mutter Wehner is a bit out of the way, but the delicious food is worth traveling a bit further for. We'd love to come back soon!

I was there with my daughter and grandchild on a Saturday afternoon. It was relatively empty – odd. The service was friendly and pleasant. The ambiance was nice. The food came surprisingly quickly – suspicious. The food wasn't warm enough and, after being reheated, didn't taste very good. My daughter didn't like it at all.

The three of us went there for dinner for the first time as a family on February 23, 2025. We were quickly and friendly shown to our reserved table to the closed outdoor terrace, where dogs are allowed and water bowls are available. The ambience reminded me of Cafe del Sol, which I personally find uncomfortable (that's a matter of taste, of course). The service staff were very friendly. In the cool temperatures, I found myself inattentive to either offer a blanket or turn on the patio heater to my elderly parents, who put their jackets back on after a while. The food didn't come after a long wait and was very appetizing and decoratively prepared. However, the medium steak I ordered was still raw. It was reworked again and was extremely excellent. However, I find it outrageous to add an additional charge of €2.90 to the bill for re-processing the steak that was complained about. The pasta dish à la Carbonara with coconut milk and cauliflower was missing a certain oomph and found the price of €19 for such a pasta dish very excessive. This criticism is not intended to be derogatory, but rather a way to improve 😉

Four of us went to the menu carousel and enjoyed a really great four-course menu with excellent wines. Highly recommended. Location and parking options are also perfect. We'd love to come back!

Great food, friendly service, great location!

Unfortunately I can't recommend the place, we were turned away very rudely, even though several tables were free, although some were reserved but with an hour left...a drink would have been possible? The service staff had no idea whether a table would be available soon and when we asked if we could wait at the counter, we were told that we were in the way. Really very very unfriendly. Of course I can't say anything about the gastronomy/food itself, but that's a reason for us not to visit this place again.

Four of us were at the Mutter Wehner restaurant on February 22, 2025 for the menu carousel. The 4 course menu offered was very unusual and of high quality. We enjoyed the starter and main course so much that we wanted to ask for a second portion. The wine selection was well matched to the menu. There were also alternatives for our “driver”. Several good fairies took care of our service. They were very attentive and the crew more than deserved the 5 stars. Overall it was a very successful evening. The only small drawback that led to a deduction of one star (unfortunately half a star wasn't possible) was the relatively large room, which didn't seem that comfortable to us at first glance. But the great team more than compensated for that. Thanks again for the lovely hours.

My wife and I went to the menu carousel in the Mutter Wehner restaurant on February 16, 2025. The 4 course menu was very creative and original put together by the chef. The food was very high quality and prepared to perfection. The wine selection matched the menu sequence exactly. Individual preferences were taken into account. The evening was accompanied by Tim as a service. He was more than attentive, so he and the crew can only be awarded 5 stars. Overall, a very successful evening

There were eight of us eating there. The ambience was uncomfortable and the background noise was loud. It was already getting dark, candles from the table were not lit, lighting was far away and sparse. Service was okay but no one asked us if we needed or wanted to order anything else. Our children would have liked to order dessert. Eating sometimes cold (tarte flambée) sprayed cream in a restaurant?, burgers nothing special, overall the portions are very manageable. The price performance wasn't right. We were there on the occasion of a big birthday and were looking forward to a nice evening, unfortunately we won't be coming back after the experience.
