Update 11/16/24: Goose leg with dumplings, red and green cabbage. Not cheap, but worth it, highly recommended. Service very friendly and attentive.

Great, tasty local cuisine, decent size dishes. Fantastic service. Reasonable prices. On top of that, this place looks fantastic. Really cozy tables located on the basement level. So don't get pushed away on a cold, autumn evening - quite the opposite: jump in and have a warm cup of Glühwein and some goulash!

We arrived in Berlin and found the restaurant online. We were keen to experience some lovely German food and it did not disappoint. So much so, that we went back three times. The food was fantastic and the service was lovely and welcoming, despite the restaurant being very busy at peak times and the staff helping lots of diners. Really enjoyed the food, the seasonal specials were lovely (pumpkin and ginger), the wild plate (venison and boar), meatballs and beer. Sasha and Sandra at our table were lovely-please thank them from us. If we have the chance to come back to Berlin, we will certainly be back! 😀 Es war herrlich!

Service friendly, atmosphere quaint and the food very tasty, good home-style. We really enjoyed our stay as a small group. One point deducted because of the noise, which may have been particularly loud in our corner as a large group was celebrating something. We can highly recommend the restaurant.

Spontaneous visit last Friday, it was worth the wait. Super nice service, great food, game plates, rarely eaten so well, no ready-made products, the live music fits perfectly into the restaurant, we sang along and danced, very nice boss with whom we got into conversation. Dear team, thank you very much for the lovely evening. We'd love to come back. This restaurant is a must for every visitor to Berlin.

They have a kids menu. Unfortunately there was no soap in the bathroom. Food served quickly. Tasty and filling. Average prices. We paid over 80 euros for dinner for 4 people. Very good schnitzel.

The restaurant was recommended to us as a 'typical Berlin' restaurant. We weren't disappointed. Restaurant is in the basement, there was no service outside when we visited. The guest room was nicely decorated and we found the ambience to be appropriate and beautiful. The service in the restaurant was top - attentive, very friendly and Berlin eloquent. The menu offers typical Berlin dishes (eisbein, currywurst, bulette). We had knuckle (not pork knuckle), giant bullette, cucumber salad. The cucumber salad was great, the knuckle and meatballs were good. The portions were too big for us (man 110kg, 13y boy 50kg).

Great restaurant. The food was very tasty and the portions were generous. I ordered pea soup as a starter and veal liver as a main course. Both dishes were delicious. The service was friendly, quick and had a sense of humor. Reasonably priced and therefore a successful evening. Thank you for the experience.

They misunderstood our order and at the end then made us pay a service charge (3.30€ per person) which was never mentioned, neither on the menu. The food was good though.

We were there as a group of 11 people. Drinks and food were brought to the table quickly and, most importantly, at the same time, so we could eat at the same time and it was all delicious. I love this retro style!! The waitresses and waiters are super nice, very quick and also available for a quick snack! The food is very tasty and plentiful! The prices really adjusted! 👍 We'll keep checking back! 😍

The ambience is pretty special, if you like it... everything in stuffy basement rooms... the sanitary rooms are full of puddles and disgusting. 0.5 liters of beer 6.50 euros. The food (around 20 euros) is not worth the money and is reminiscent of cheap canteen food. Sorry guys. For me that doesn't work at all.

A place to unwind after work or to get together with the family. There is good home-style German cuisine. No fuss at fair prices. Live music every now and then on Fridays and Saturdays and our own beautiful herbs as a "distributor" if you have eaten too much from the menu. Great place, our go-to place for years, especially at Christmas time after visiting the surrounding markets

Terrible service from start to end. Hard to get a seat, order, and pay. Staff were not busy as they spent most time talking to each other; they just didn't care. Food was below average for what I ordered (bratwurst with potato). Beer was also disappointing. Space was cool.

A very nice old Berlin restaurant with an outdoor area. Manageable menu (not overloaded, which is very good) with good home-style dishes. Highly recommended! Nice and attentive staff. We had the veal schnitzel with fried potatoes, cucumber salad and red cabbage goulash with dumplings, super tasty. Reasonably priced, definitely not overpriced. It’s not unpleasant, but I think I can skip it 😂 The overall waiters are gentle, polite and kind, but it's a pity We were seated around 6 o'clock on Friday night. We met a group of people and waited for 60-90 minutes for the food to be served. I almost fell asleep😅 You need to reserve time during the meal to avoid waiting for a long time. Extremely friendly atmosphere and excellent cuisine! Having just arrived in Berlin, I was looking for a restaurant with Berlin cuisine and came across Mutter Hoppe... as one person, getting a table on a Friday evening is sometimes not easy, but everyone here immediately tried to find a nice place for me to find. The food was extremely tasty and of the best quality, the service was friendly and professional, the whole atmosphere was harmonious, for me a top address in Berlin!

Restaurant with typical cuisine in the heart of Berlin. Characteristic setting and very pleasant atmosphere. The service was also excellent. The food is good, unfortunately I think that for one of the two dishes we took, we opted for the wrong dish (for our tastes). We had the Berlin style pork shank. The "roasted" version is very good, with a fantastic side of potatoes. The "boiled" version did not excite us, both for the flavor of the meat (simple) and for the side dish which was not exceptional. And a place we recommend for a typical Berlin dinner :)

Excellent cuisine! We ate very well, the prices were fair. On the other hand, 1 hour 40 minutes for two dishes and a dessert between 2 and 4 p.m. when there aren't too many people is too long.

The service was just incredibly good so I just have to give it a go. On Saturday evening with live music and despite it being busy, we were served very well. That's why you only pay 7/10 for the food at the location 😊 but I would go there again 😘

What it looks like... In an old Berlin atmosphere we were able to enjoy Berlin delicacies in a cozy and familiar atmosphere. The staff was super friendly, every wish was fulfilled. Kudos to the chef, we had Kasseler roast and pork knuckle. Man, that was delicious. And we also learned something new... Where does the term "hock of pork" come from? ㄍㄋㄋTaiwanese people come to me to read my comments The waiters at this store are super dishonest! I ordered a small drink and he gave me a larger one. Then the pork chop, I said I wanted pork and he gave me veal, and when I ordered, he repeated me three times that I wanted pork! In the end, you will find out that the checkout amount is too expensive! Later, I told the waiter that I ordered pork, and he said he was sorry and it was his mistake. But when I paid, he only had the price for the meat and he deducted it for me. I ordered the wrong drink but still charged him ~ I was super upset. The important thing is that I spoke German the whole time! The waiter gave me the wrong orders for all the meals (all at high prices) The restaurant is very dishonest, don't recommend it! ! ! btw. The fried pork chop is quite oily, and the potatoes underneath are also greasy.

During our recent trip to Berlin, we had the pleasure of dining at Mutter Hoppe, a venue that far exceeded our expectations. Easily reachable from Alexandren plaze and opposite the Berlin Cathedral. Since our arrival, we were welcomed into a really nice environment, with a welcoming atmosphere and attention to the smallest details. The highlight of the evening was undoubtedly the schnitzel, which was very tender and cooked to perfection. Accompanied by tasty and fresh side dishes. In conclusion, it is a place that we highly recommend to anyone who is in Berlin and wants to enjoy typical German cuisine in a pleasant environment with first-rate service. We can't wait to return!

We had to wait a long time before we were allowed in, even though there was plenty of room available. The lady who helped us was unfriendly and curt. The young man, Bary, who helped us was very friendly! My son's order was wrong, but he resolved it quickly and neatly. Location is great! We were able to sit outside in the sun. Price is fine.

SAVE YOUR MONEY The food was subpar and not worth the price. The atmosphere was unpleasant, as a significant number of flies buzzed around while we were trying to enjoy our meal—I'd estimate around 20 of them. To make matters worse, the neighbouring table made jokes about us trying to shield our food from the flies. While I wouldn't necessarily classify their behaviour as racist, I will say that they ended up experiencing a more uncomfortable situation than we did due to the flies. We refuse to pay tips, yet the staff continue to ask us how much we would like to tip, despite us making it clear that we will not be leaving any gratuity.

A typical German restaurant. It's obviously very touristy, but the food was delicious and the overall stay was nice. The staff was friendly and attentive and the atmosphere on the terrace was quite nice. It's a bit of a shame, however, that there are hardly any vegetarian dishes. A baked potato or something like that would be nice. People who follow a vegetarian diet or at least don't want to eat meat every day always have to resort to a salad because there is no adequate main course.

A very good place to try local classics and delicious beer. Nice service. It is worth taking into account that the portions are large - for women, rather half. Fresh salads are served with the dishes. Atmospheric interior and garden. We will definitely come back here again.

It should be a nice evening with family. Unfortunately the food was cold, 3 out of 5 dishes. We let it go back, unfortunately only two came back. The missing food didn't come. After we asked, no one could explain it - the appetite was gone and so was the mood!! The service was outstanding. They really tried to save the evening - thank you for that. It wasn't successful - it's a shame I wanted to show my family “my” Berlin.

We celebrated my mother's 80th birthday at the Mutter Hoppe restaurant and it was just really nice. The atmosphere was so cozy and inviting, just right for a special occasion. The staff were particularly attentive and really made our evening enjoyable. Thank you very much Sasha. He made sure that the birthday child and all guests felt completely comfortable. The service was quick, friendly and extremely accommodating. The location itself is beautiful, with a lot of charm and a touch of Berlin history, which gave the evening a special touch. We couldn't have imagined a better choice for this special day. Many thanks to the entire team at Mutter Hoppe for an unforgettable evening. We will definitely come back and recommend this restaurant to anyone who wants to celebrate a special occasion in an authentic and warm atmosphere.

Yesterday I was there for dinner with my colleagues to celebrate my retirement. Many thanks to Marcel, who served us very attentively throughout the evening, and to his colleague who supported him at times. All the food we chose (hock, knuckle of pork, veal liver, large mountain pine, rump steak, stuffed cabbage...) were also served with small special requests. Big thanks to the kitchen for that. It was a successful evening that also made my guests very happy. Thank you very, very much for that. It wasn't the first time I was there, Mother Hoppe is always on the agenda when I have visitors from "non-Berliners"; keep it up because I'll definitely be back.

It was the last meal we had on our trip to Berlin and it was truly a success. Located on Museum Island, quiet and very good atmosphere. Good food and service too.

Good restaurant where you can eat for a reasonable price. They are in a beautiful location and have special seasonal dishes. The staff occasionally need a heads up before you get their attention, but they work hard and are helpful. The food is of good quality and the size of the food is large.

It is not possible! We came here early because we are supposed to leave tomorrow morning. It's been a whole hour now and we don't see any shadows

Very racist place. Wish I read the reviews before regarding the service. If you aren't German, I'd recommend not going here. My partner and I received very poor service from the staff. The one staff member seemed to treat all the German speaking people with respect and care but was very rude and neglectful toward us. I'd understand if it was a small German town, but this is Berlin. Would advice those rude staff members to seek employment elsewhere if they're xenophobic. We left early.
